Hidden Affection

Movement here and there filled the whole office, some trying to arrange their tables properly, some putting away the foods they were eating,others looking into the mirror to see if they are looking presentable.Within a twinkle of an eye , everyone satat steadily in their desk looking straight on the screen of their computers. A very muscular figure entered the office,looking all shiny, with vibrant hair,a well defined jawline and handsome face, his look is the dream of all women. Immediately he reached the center of the office , a deep voice echoed," a meeting in 20 minutes".

Liam, a multimillion CEO of a renounced tech company in the city of Los Angeles was left with no option but to hire a new secretary since the old secretary has resigned. Rumor has it that no secretary of Liam lasted for a month,it was only Miss Mary who lasted as his secretary for five years. Liam was so worried about her leaving but his pride made it look like he doesn't care.

Everyone was seated in the meeting room wondering why an emergency meeting was called. Liam enters with his face fixed to his mobile phone and starts speaking, "the reason for this meeting is to announce that Miss Mary, the secretary of the company has resigned and a new secretary will be filling her position immediately, i think she will be here in five minutes time".

Immediately he stopped talking. A curvy, beautiful but shabbily dressed lady appeared through the door of the meeting room.With a scattered voice, she said, my name is Mia, the new secretary. Silence and tension filled the room for some minutes until Liam spoke, in a very harsh manner, " be seated and get to work, take the minutes of this meeting". After the meeting, the other worker welcomed Mia and showed her to her desk.She knocked and entered into Liam office to hand over the minutes she had taken, she mistakenly missed her steps and fell on Liam's desk, causing the files on the desk drop on the floor.

Shit, Liam said, "I do not work with clumsy people,fix yourself or say bye to this company, leave my office this instance before I lose my anger the more!"

Mia left the office with so much fright, but when she narrated the incident to her colleagues , they all laughed,saying that was her welcome address.

After work, Mia seems rather worried than happy, she fears that she didn't make a good impression on her first day.The next day, she woke up very early hoping to be the first at work and at least make some good impression. She came to work later ,meeting an office full of people including her boss, she was rather the last person to report to work.That day was actually a very happy day for Liam since he is expecting some investors to come and inspect a new machine he has manufactured. Mia who was also curious of what the machine looks like went into the manufacturing room to see the machine,she was so amazed when she got there, she kept the water she was drinking on a table closer to where the new manufactured machine was and went to take a look at other machines,upon her returned she noticed that the water has mistakenly poured on the new machine, at the same moment Liam entered the room with the investors and saw what Mia did.The machine became faulty so nothing was there to show the investors again.The investors left without investing into Liam's machine. Liam later told Mia that sacking her will be a very simple punishment for her instead she will work for some months without pay.

Days went by quickly and Mia adapted to the company and Liam's harassments. One fateful day, she was assigned to arrange a pile of folders and some other work. Due to the work load on her, she was the last person to leave the office. She got home and slept deeply,the next day she woke up to several missed calls from Liam and other colleagues, her heart skipped a beat when she saw the missed calls,when she tried calling them back, her phone died. She hurried to the office and saw all her colleagues and Liam with some police officers. Her colleagues informed her about an attempted robbery at the office, she was later question by the police officers since she was the last person to leave the office.After the police officers left, Liam who was already boiling with anger shouted in Mia's direction, "you incompetent of a person, do you know how much money and energy i invested into this company,how dare you show up here and trying to make me lose my hard work! Why does misfortune and disorder follow you everywhere you go, leave my company and do not show your filthy self to me again".

Mia, who was confused as to what exactly happened, was in tears and shaking. She moved to her desk,packed her belongings and walked out of the company. When she got to the main entrance she turned and looked at the building with tears in her eyes.

The company that day was filled with silence since everyone got used to Mia being around, they also felt that, Liams decision was too hasteful and unjust. That same evening, a colleague of Mia confessed that he was the one who returned to the office in the evening to pick something and mistakenly left the door open. Everyone was shocked by his confession especially Liam since he realized he blamed and sacked Mia unfairly.

A worker at the company who is also Liam's friend and old classmate pursued him to go and apologize to Mia and if possible ask her to return to the company but he refused. After Mia's departure, the secretaria position was left vacant because Liam's was trying to prevent another Mia from coming to his company and so, he disqualified every single person that applied for the position.

Mia on the other hand decided to get some rest before starting another job hurting.One evening as she was returning from shopping, she noticed a shadow following her, the shadow followed her till she was about to enter her house.

Mia, who was so frightened, gathered some courage and turned and saw who was following her. She was so shocked when she saw Liam who was looking as sparkling as he always is, he couldn't find words to describe why he was caught following her. Mia welcomed him to her house,offered him water to drink before asking him what his mission was.Liam couldn't find his words to apologize instead he ignored her question and began asking Mia how she was surviving in a house with inadequate space and poor lighting like this.

"Sir i am fine with where i am and i believe you didn't follow me all the way up her to criticize my space", she said. Silence filled the room which made both Liam and Mia so uncomfortable until Liam spoke up," someone else confess for being responsible for leaving the doors open which attracted the robbers in the office. But to can't blame me totally for unfair judgment, you are to be blamed too because, you are always so clumsy which made me believe you are at fault" he said. "Liam I'm also sure you are not here to say just that or shit blame" said Mia. "Fine", said Liam arrogantly, "sorry for accusing you wrongly and I hope you can return to work".

Mia declined Liam's request which amazed and hurt his pride so much, he left Mia's house so bored at himself for stooping so low to her level and at the end got rejected, he even regretted listening to his friend's advice.

The company was still without a secretary which made the other worker perform extra tasks.

Mia on the other hand decided to take extra care of herself since she has nothing to do for the meantime,she decided to change her whole wardrobe, change her hair and adopt the use of some cosmetics products like make up and other skincare products. She even took fashion help and advice from professionals.

Mia's change in appearance made men follow her everywhere she went, she took so many new adventures such as trying new restaurants, clubbing, swimming,cooking class and a whole lot. She was the happiest during her unemployed days.

The company was very busy on one fateful day because the company will be launching a new machine which caught the eye of the general public, calls from reporters here and there, also calls from investors were trooping in too. Everyone was busy with work and a call came in again, suddenly a voice answered, "you are speaking to Mia from Liam's Tech company", everyone was left dumbfounded when they saw the person speaking, a very pretty nice lady, dressed in a nice and latest vintage top and a pair of high waist skinny jeans, the jean brought out her curves the more and also revealing her hourglass body shape. One of the ladies inquire from the lady who she was and she replied," this is Mia guys, can't you recognise me".

Mia received so much compliment that day from her colleagues about her new look, they were all happy she came back as well .Liam was also happy but as usual he did not express it. Mia's composure at work has immensely improved, she was now careful with how she carried herself at work. It was as if a new soul was living in her body. This new attitude of Mia caught the attention of Liam, he started developing some strange feelings of liking towards Mia.

Work at the company went on as usual and the machine was successfully launched. Liams company was invited to a partnership celebration which requires all the workers to be there and be present as couples.Everyone was expected to come with a date,they all paired themselves h except Mia who didn't get a date, not because no one wanted to go with her but because no one was left among her colleagues. They were all wondering what to do when they heard a voice asking Mia to be his date,everyone was astonished when they saw that it was Liam. Mia accepted after several contemplation and pressure from her other colleagues.

The day for the event came and everyone showed up looking all good,people wore their best of dress but Mia's look was extra ordinary, it was as if she had a spell on beauty on her, she was the center of attraction that evening.So many businessmen made advances towards her which made Liam so angry,he shouted at Mia to stay focus so that they go greet other business partners rather than showing her teeth to every man that comes her way. Mia didn't understand why he was getting angry at anything she does. After the party, Liam offered to drop Mia home which sounded weird but she accepted.Because Mia was a little drunk, she was able to chat freely with Liam, they had so much fun chatting, they spoke about everything that happen at the party and even some work related issues. Mia told Liam about her life growing up as a child, how she had rich parents and siblings whom she loved so much, she had everything at her disposal, thus to say, she had an easy life, she was loved by both her colleagues and teacher at school for being the most beautiful and intelligent student until she lost her parents and siblings in a fatal accident.From there life took hold of me. The people she called friends at school redrew themselves from her because she couldn't live to their elite expectations again. Liam was so felt bad for her but was ignorant of how to select the right words to comfort her, the car was suddenly filled with silence until he dropped Mia home.When Liam got home ,it suddenly dawned on him that he was angry when men approached Mia,he found it wired and didn't understand why he was angry.

The next day at work,Mia didn't report early which made Liam very worried. Anytime the office door opens, he stands up to check if it's Mia, he continued until Mia finally showed up, he was completely happy throughout the day just by seeing Mia,he even wished that working hours won't be over.

From that day on, everything Mia does makes Liam very happy, he finds delight in just looking at Mia,and gets very angry when other male workers come close to her.

He explained what was going on to his friend who told him he wasn't angry but rather jealous. He realized that he was gradually falling in love with Mia.

Mia started receiving anonymous gifts from a particular person who claimed to be her secret admirer,something the gifts are delivered to the office and somethings to her house, which means that the person knows where Mia lives and even works.The gifts sometimes come as flowers, chocolates,wine,accessories etc. Mia's colleagues told her by the looks of the gifts the person should really be wealthy.Mia who was actually confused and afraid didn't touch or use any of the gifts she received but gave it to her colleagues who where willing to take them.

One Friday,after a long day at work,Mia got home, prepared dinner,took her bath and was relaxing on the sofa in the living room. She suddenly heard a loud knock on her door.

Mia who wasn't expecting anyone was confused and rush to the door, she saw Liam standing with his hands in his pocket.She ushered Liam in and offered him a glass of wine and then ask Liam what his mission was," i hope i didn't do anything bad at work,i hope i'm not in any kind of troubled" she said with a very worried tone. Liam who was sitting relaxed and sipping his wine finally spoke out," what are your plans for the weekend"? Mia replied she has no important plans ,just small laundry and packing. Good Liam said, "I have two tickets for a movie premiere,go with me'.

Mia laughed and asked Liam if he was asking her to go to the premieres with him or commanding her to go with him. Liam, who was confused between choosing the right words, rephrased his sentence,"will you be free to go to the movie premieres with me, lady"? Liam asked again .Mia finally told him she can spare some time. After some time chatting,Liam left home. He was very happy when he got home. He sang and danced around till he fell asleep.

Early that morning,someone rang her door bell and it was a delivery guy. Mia received a package, when she opened it, it contained a beautiful dress and some chocolate and a note in the, the content of the note says, "look beautiful as usual'. Mia knew that the package was from Liam and was wondering if the ones she had before was from him too.She took her time to shower that day,did some waxing, put on some lovely make up and finally some nice scented perfumes. Immediately she finished dressing, Liam pulled up in front of her house and blowing his car horns.Mia came out looking all sparkling and very beautiful, her look sent some shivers down Liam's spin, left his jaw widely open, he was about to drool when Mia greeted him, he responded and told Mia she was one of a kind and that he nearly mistook him for a newly born princess mermaid.

They finally drove off and headed to the movie premier, the first stop at an restaurant to get some food. At the movies,Mia cried at every emotional scene displayed which left Liam wondering if he came to the movies with a child or a lady, he was asking himself if this type of crying also requires consolation till he saw a man patting the shoulders of another lady who was also crying due to the movie, he now understands what to do but was wondering if he and Mia are finally on that level to offer a physical touch.The movie finally came to an end and they headed to Mia's house first, Liam couldn't stop teasing Mia, he laughed at her and even imitate the way he was crying and cleaning her face.They were having so much fun until Mia asked Liam why the sudden change towards her, you were very cold towards me from the very moment i stepped my foot in the company but you seem all loving and caring now, is there something i am missing? Liam only laughed and assured her she will know when the time is due. He dropped Mia home and left to his house too.He was so happy when he finally got home, he felt that he will soon win Mia over and they could spend enough time together but fear suddenly took over him when he remembered how he treated Mia but he encourage himself by saying," I am Liam, the one who receive compliment from both women and men that i am very attractive, i am what every lady dreams to be with therefore there's no way Mia will turn me down when i finally open up to her about my feelings". He assured himself and went to bed. He dreamt spending quality time with Mia and even making out with her that day.

The next evening, he went to a club with his friends who were also having the same financial status and fame just as him, they had a some business chat and proceed to the main course of the evening, thus having fun,they invited several ladies to dance for them and after select some to flirt with, Liam who detest that is only on his phone either reading or chatting whenever they come to the club. The friends always try to convince him to have fun with the ladies but he always denies them. That fateful evening, Liam was too focused on his phone which drew the attention of one of his friend, the friend moved towards Liam's direction calling out his name. Liam quickly turned off the screen of his phone and kept it in his pocket which seemed weird to the friend. "What just happened Liam, why did you hide your phone all of a sudden?", the friend asked, or who is the lady who is making you lose focus like this.Liam gave his friend a cold look which signifies that he wasn't ready to share why he was glue on his phone. The friend knew that nothing he will do will make Liam tell him why he hid his phone so he left him and Liam went back to being focused on his phone.

It turned out that, aside being a secretary, Mia is also a youtuber and a content creator, Liam watched all her videos and even downloaded some of her pictured to his phone so while in the club, he kept admiring Mia's pictures and smiling, sometimes he even laugh loud when watching her videos.

The weekend which seemed so long for Liam was finally over, which means work and seeing Mia for another full work hours of each working day. That morning before work, he took extra time to dress up, he put on his favorite suits which everyone complimented as dazzling, he neatly combed his hair and styled it in a different and attractive way ,he also sprayed some highly scented perfume in the air and happily danced in it. That day, he went to work a bit late than ever, his mission of going late was to get Mia will have a good look at his complete outfit and most importantly face and body.

Upon reaching the office, he shouted a greeting when he reached the middle of the office with a smile. Everyone at the office was confused because nothing of that sort has ever happen.Some were even asking among themselves if he fell and hit his head or if he was feeling sick. After greeting, he walked towards Mia's desk and headed over a piece of paper to her.
