Athena's POV
Who am I? I'm Athena or freak as Vanessa and her friends like to refer to me as. You see Vanessa is my twin sister, growing up we were close inseparable if you will. Things began to change just before we turned five. Vanessa was gifted magic from the Moon Goddess, our great-grandmother after inheriting it from our own mum. I however didn't which in turn gave me my nick name.
Today should be one of the best days of my life, it's our sixteenth birthday and the day we get to meet our wolf counterpart, or so it should have been. I peeked at the clock that sat on my bedside table, groaning when I saw it was only 5.30am. Vanessa was still asleep her eye mask covering her eyes as she snored like a flipping rhino. Closing my eyes, I focused trying my hardest to search the corners of my mind for any sign of my wolf, but nothing. Not a whimper a whisper or even the feeling of my mind space being shared. Just nothing. And this is where my story begins.
Growing up my parents had always assured me I was no different to my sister, that my time would come, and I would receive my gifts. That day however never seemed to come. I watched from the side lines as Vanessa flourished, mastering each gift she gained. By my count she now had six and me zero. I felt like a fraud, someone that was born into the wrong family. Somebody had clearly made a mistake; I mean my mum was the daughter of the Alpha King for crying out loud even she must have thought the world was laughing at her knowing she had given birth to me miss nobody. There was a time when she herself had the same gifts my sister now possesses, though she gave hers up in a deal she made on her and my dad's wedding day. A deal that bought her friend Alice back to life.
Looking back at my sister the perfect daughter and next in line to be Alpha thanks to my grandad having had the wolf law changed, I dragged myself from my bed and into the bathroom. I knew Vanessa would be getting her wolf today there was no way she wouldn't, she wasn't unlucky like me she always got the better end of deal, and I didn't want to be there to witness it. I didn't want to see the look of pity and shame on my parents faces when they realise what a failure and waste of space their youngest daughter was. I showered quickly before stepping back out and drying myself off when I feel the mind link between me and Hector open.
"Happy birthday Athena" His voice chirpy voice echoed in my head.
"Is it?" I responded bluntly wanting today to be over with before it had even begun.
"What's up with you? Grumpy or what this morning"
"You would be grumpy to if you were me, a defect a disgrace to her family name" tears burned the back of my eyelids as I meant each word I spoke. I truly hated myself and wanted nothing more than for the earth to swallow me whole erasing my sorry excuse of a life from existence.
"Athena stop, don't keep putting yourself down, how many times have I told you there is nothing wrong with you? Ig you honestly feel like this then I think you need to see someone. I can go with you if you want. You're not alone Athena"
"If you turned sixteen and didn't get your wolf then you'd feel how I do to. I don't need to talk to any doctor they would just give me some pills that I neither need nor want" I snapped at him.
"I'm sorry I didn't know you hadn't received one. Look its only early there's still time for her to come so please calm down, just don't give up hope" I didn't answer him back instead I just shoved him away closing the mind link and putting my block up to prevent him from trying again.
Hector was my best friend; he was Beta Benson and Alices son we grew up together alongside his older sister Megan. Hector was destined to take over from his dad when he is old enough to retire becoming Vanessa's Beta. Not once did he ever call me a nasty name, he always stuck up for me when no one else would, he didn't care if he was seen with the 'freak' and for that I loved him. It was no secret that my mum hoped we would be mates when we became of age, Hector had even told me he had feelings for me regardless of the fact he was a year younger than me. I carried a flame in my heart for him to not that I would tell him that, deep down I wanted him to be my mate, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Nothing ever went according to plan, not for me at least. I learned at a young age that fate along with life didn't care what we wanted.
Megan is older than me but we're not friends by any means, she's the complete opposite to her brother. Where he's kind and considerate she's viscous and rude, in other words she was better suited to be Vanessa's sister for they were closer and had the same personality traits. After getting dressed and throwing my hair up into a messy bun, I headed downstairs hoping to avoid everyone so I could grab my lunch and head to school. I was planning on stopping by the café to get breakfast and eat it on my way, but as usual nothing goes to plan.
"Morning birthday girl" My dad's deep voice startled me as he crept up behind me before pecking my cheek.
"Can't talk dad got to run don't want to be late I'm meeting Hector before school" I lie through my teeth while plastering a fake smile on my face something I had become good at.
"Morning" Vanessa's annoying high-pitched voice hurt my ears as she rounded the corner still in her skimpy nighty.
By the excitement in Vanessa's voice, I was right she got her wolf. My dad having sensed it asked Vanessa what her wolfs name was and she said Jewel before Vanessa turned and looked at me.
"What's your wolf called Athena isn't it just the weirdest most wonderful feeling?" The way she smirked at me as if already knowing the answer.
"I...I have to go"
"Athena come on I'm just dying to know" And I'm dying to punch you in that smug face of yours I thought to myself.
Before I could give into the urge to smack Vanessa, I turned on my heel and left the packhouse. The last thing I needed today was to get into more trouble not to mention I felt shit enough as it was. The local school wasn't far away but I needed to put some distance between myself and my family. I stopped to get a coffee and a croissant having not wanted to stay home I was now starving. I must have fallen asleep at my table because my phone rang making me jolt up. Looking at the screen Hectors face popped up making my heart flutter as I accepted his call.
"Hey where are you? School started an hour ago" goddess his voice was sexy.
"I'm on my way, have I missed anything interesting?"
"Other than me nope. Just hurry up and get here we have Mr Kiln next for English and we both know what will happen if your late again"
After telling Hector I'd be there shortly I ended the call before putting my phone in my bag. If there was one thing I hated more than being at school surrounded by stuck up wolves, it was being in Mr Kiln's class. He was an azhat of a man, he abused his authority by making his students look small in front of the whole class. Last week he overheard an argument between my sister and myself then even though she was clearly in the wrong, he took her side anyway.
The morning went by quickly and without incident, the upside to being the freak meant you became invisible. Nobody wanting to ruin their reputations by interacting with me, no one but Hector. Before I knew it lunchtime had arrived, taking my packed lunch out of my bag I sat at a table to the edge of the room away from prying eyes as I waited for Hector to finish his training session. As I lifted my bottle of water putting it to my mouth someone squeezed it soaking me in the process. Looking up I saw Megan standing there with her bitch posse behind her like a bunch of braindead zombies. Megan was a stunning girl, she has long black hair similar to my own though hers thicker with natural loose curl whereas mine was straight, like most she-wolves she was slim but held an athletic toned look due to all the pack training she participated in; something that was mandatory in our pack once you reached sixteen.
"If it isn't the freak. Did you get a special friend today Athena" What was it with everyone pestering me about having a wolf?
"Nope no wolf aye Athena. Not even a wolf spirit wants to be a part of you. That just sucks, I guess you're always going to be along" Vanessa appeared behind Megan causing me to see red as the other she-wolves laughed at my misfortune. The more she rubbed how human I was in my face the more I was beginning to lose it.
I jumped from my seat tackling Vanessa to the ground. I entangled one hand in her long blonde hair while using the other to punch her as I sat on her chest restricting her movements as best I could. I may not have a wolf but being the daughter of an alpha meant I still had strength and speed behind me. Vanessa just laughed as I hit her causing a crowd to form around us in the cafeteria as they chanted 'FIGHT,FIGHT'. Megan and one of her lackies grabbed me by the arms ripping me away from Vanessa as a cruel smirk spread across her face. I watched as her eyes changed from blue to black showing me her wolf was present.
"Take her outside" Vanessa ordered her friends with her growing alpha tone as I struggled against them trying to free myself from their tightening grip.
Once outside Megan and the other girl dropped me to the floor kicking me in the side of the head causing me to face plant the floor. It had been raining so the ground was wet and muddy and now so was I. Horror spread across my face as I watched Vanessa shift into her wolf. A first shift was said to be the most painful yet freeing experience taking hours to complete with the time becoming shorter the more often you shifted. Vanessa however made if look effortless taking mere seconds to transform into a beautiful white wolf, one almost identical to my mum except for the black diamond patch that sat in between her eyes.
I scrambled to my feet as fast as I could stepping backwards as Vanessa's wolf stalked closer. Just as she lunged for me, I jumped to the side just in time to see her circle back around snarling at me. It was obvious that even though her first shift didn't take long her fighting methods needed improvement obviously not knowing how to attack in this form. This time as she prepared to lunge for me, I heard a voice tell me to duck and kick upwards though quickly glancing around I couldn't see who's voice it was. I ducked as instructed when the wolf jumped hearing the same voice again tell me to kick now. I did as I was told and to my luck it worked, I kicked Vanessas wolf in the stomach sending her flying into the old oak tree that sat nearby. Before Vanessa had a chance to attack me again, I used my speed and ran as far away from this this place and the lingering looks and my sister as I could.
Vanessa's POV
I couldn't believe Athena just ran off, we were in the middle of a fight and the coward she was bloody legged it. I was fuming, my wolf Jewel practically seething with anger. We were supposed to be daughters of an Alpha the blood that run through our veins linked to the moon goddess giving us the edge over other wolves. Athena however didn't deserve the title. She had no gifts, no wolf, she was a weakling a disgrace to our royal heritage. I knew she was hurt that I was gifted, and she wasn't and yes, I may have thrown it in her face multiple times but why should I have to hide what I have? I'm proud to have what I do, to have aced in my training when our grandfather tested me.
Athena missed the rest of the afternoon at school, which was no skin off my nose, personally I was glad she wasn't here. I didn't want to be associated with her by any means. Megan had suggested convincing my parents to send Athena away, to stay with our grandfather Using the idea that he could try and awaken any gifts that may be deep inside her, which we both knew she didn't have. They weren't convinced it would work and told me no that her place was here with us Urgh why is life unfair, I'd have to find another way to get rid of her. When I got home and walked into the bathroom the scent of fresh blood hit my nose, I pull the shower door open to find Athena sitting on the floor cutting at her arms again, her face plain and stern void of emotion.
"Why do you do that? It's not going to solve anything is it" I look at her with disgust, unsure why my twin had to be pathetic like her.
"Leave me alone" Athena's voice a mere whisper as her eyes remained focused on what she was doing to herself.
"You're not going to heal; you know that right? I mean if you had a wolf then they could have healed you had they wanted to, that's if they could stomach being a part of you to begin with. Hell, I'd even heal you if you were worth it but we both know you're not"
"Fuck off Vanessa. Haven't you caused enough damage already. You hate me I get it, so why don't you just leave me alone. Just pretend I don't exist"
"Believe me if I could, I would. Do you know how it feels to be bonded to such a useless piece of meat like you? Your no good for anything. Nobody will respect you as an Alpha nor as a Luna, not without a wolf. And how the fuck do you plan on keeping a mate. You're a burden Athena, to all of us" I took one last look at her and walked away, I needed her to go and soon.
I spent the evening in the alpha suite lounge until called for dinner. Though we had our own dining table up here my parents always insisted that we have dinner with the members of pack that ate in the communal dining hall. My mum played with her food, her mind clearly elsewhere. I had a feeling I knew where so didn't bother to ask because if by chance it was to do with sister I didn't want to know.
"Have either of you seen Athena? I've called to her through the mind link several times but can't connect to her" My mum looked between me and my dad both of us shaking our heads.
"Vanessa what happened at school today? Before you even think about lying to me remember you girls party is tonight and I will cancel it" My dad just looked at me, there was never any point in lying to the man he was a living breathing lie detector.
"She deserved it" I didn't say anymore just shrugged my shoulders.
"Deserves what? Vanessa what happened" I looked up to find my mum glaring daggers at me, if looks could kill I'd be screwed.
"She started on me, I walked into the cafeteria, and she pounced on me. She repeatedly punched so I commanded her outside and shifted"
"You shifted at school. Please tell me you gave your sister the chance to shift" it was obvious mum was unaware to Athena not having a wolf. I wasn't going to tell them because then she would get all the attention like the attention seeking bitch she was.
Athena's POV
Vanessa was right, i was a disgrace to my family name a burden that no one deserved to be stuck with. I had wanted to leave for ages, I didn't want to be here to be surrounded by people that mentally abused me. There was only so much someone could take before finally snapping and i was already one foot over the edge. The fighting I could take as I always managed to get a few good hits in but the words, those I couldn't handle they felt like I had been stabbed in the heart or at least what I imagined it to feel like.
It was supposed to be our birthday party tonight, though it was more for Vanessa being as the only friend I had was Hector. I knew he would be there he had been going on about it all week, but it wasn't fair for me to bring him down to, he deserved better than me.
I looked down at my arms to see I had sliced them with my pocketknife again. I couldn't explain it but when I felt like giving up, I would space out coming back round to myself to find I'd self-harmed almost as if something inside of me wanted to bleed the depression away to relieve me of the darkness I held within me. You'd think I would have felt the pain as I did it, but I didn't. I always felt numb, physical pain didn't seem to harm me when I was in this state. Standing up I took some bandage out of my bag and wrapped it around the cuts that went over my arm and wrist before cleaning up the blood that sat pooled in front of me. I looked at my phone to find a few missed calls from Hector, I had been so out of it that I hadn't heard my phone ring. Cleaning up I could feel my mum try and force a mental connection one which I blocked. I didn't want to see or talk to anyone. I'd had enough of this place being made to feel like a stain they couldn't get rid of. There was no way I was showing my face at the party, everyone from school would be there laughing at me with their snarky remarks and I couldn't handle it. I was going to wait until I turned eighteen to leave but I couldn't wait not anymore. Pulling a rucksack from under the bed I filled it with a few necessary items before opening the bedroom window. I took one last look behind me and jumped.
I ran for the forest sticking to the shadows trying to remain unseen by pack members or patrol. I knew the route they took and the time in which shifts changed I just didn't know who was on tonight. As the wind picked up blowing in my direction one scent stood out. It was Benson, he was my dad's Beta and best friend. The scent was getting stronger which told me not only was he working patrol, but he was coming this way, I had no choice I needed to run past territory lines and quick. If Benson caught me, he would have me marched back to my parents. I used all my speed and made a beeline for the clearing in the trees, I knew these forests like the back of my hand. I had spent many times alone at the secret waterfall. My dad had told me about it when I began to be bullied, he said that no one other than him and mum knew its location so I could hide there when things got too much. Had it not been my birthday I would have spent the night in the cave behind the waterfall, but I knew the moment the party began my parents would know I was missing. The cave being one of the first places they would check.
I needed to be gone completely, so I headed north in the direction of a human town. I had only been there once because whenever we left Moonlight territory my parents insisted that Sid go with us for he was the packs gamma his job included protecting my sister and i along with our mum. The human town was my best hope, I would be safer there than in the woods. I was less likely to be found by rouges of another pack.
After running for an hour, I slowed down to catch my breath just as the town came into view. I looked at the time on my phone 7pm the party would be starting soon and that's when my parents would notice I was gone. They would bombard my head with their command as they tried to force a connection which would give me a crippling headache, I know this because it's happened before. Had I been given my wolf she could have blocked the pain, but I was on my own. I had a little bit of money saved up; it was enough to get me far away from here, but a hotel would do for tonight. After another half hour of wandering around I found a bed and breakfast which had a few rooms left. After paying for my room, I opened the door and flopped onto the bed. I was about to close my eyes when the door was suddenly kicked in.
The awful stench of sewerage burned my nostrils as three men stood in my doorway evil smirks on their faces. They were rogues and now I was fucked. I jumped off the bed and ran to the bathroom but was grabbed before I even reached the door. One man shut and locked the front door before turning to close the blinds while the one that grabbed me chucked me to the floor. The biggest one of them was tall he had to have been nearly seven feet, he would have made my dad look like a midget. He sat on the chair a calm expression on his face which terrified me. When he nodded to the man towering over my cowering form, I felt his boot connect with my head sending me flying backwards into the bedside cabinet. Shit that hurt, what I'd give to feel numb at this moment.
"Athena, isn't it?" The man sitting down spoke his elbows resting on his knees as he watched me.
I ignored him which must have angered because the man that kicked me grabbed my hair forcing my head to look in the direction of the bigger rouge who was clearly in charge. My heart was thumping away loudly as fear coursed through me.
"I'm Jerry, I've waited a long time to meet you, Athena. I doubt you have heard about me, so I'll tell you who I am. I used to be a member of the Royal Pack but was banished by your grandfather William. I thought all was lost when my mate rejected me because of him until I recognised you. All alone and walking the streets at night. Silly girl."
"I don't care who you are what do you want with me?" I spat the blood from my mouth towards him.
Jerry waved his hand and the man who had my hair in his grip raised my head to look at him before connecting his fist to my face. I felt my nose crunch as blood trickled down my face, a cruel smirk on the man's face as he realised, I wasn't healing. I watched as he cocked his head to the side taking a deep breath before looking back at me.
"She doesn't have a wolf. Are you sure this is her" he growled at the man in charge.
"Oh I'm sure of it. So, you haven't been gifted like your sister then. Well then love it looks like you're in fucking trouble doesn't it" he says as he stands before quickly crouching in front of me. Gripping my chin, he placed his nose in the crook of my neck taking a deep breath confirming I indeed had no wolf.
An ear deafening cackle left his lips as he stood up before continuing to beat me. I don't know how long the beating lasted but i knew he had cracked a few ribs and possibly punctured one of my lungs by the way I was now wheezing. As I tried to sit back up, I was kicked back down only this time I was dragged by my hair and thrown into the bathroom. I had never been this scared, in this moment I instantly regretted having left my parents territory.
Using what little strength I had, I tried to force a connection with my parents but couldn't reach them so as a last resort I tried Vanessa. Being my twin Vanessa would know I was hurt and in danger, yet she continued to block me from her mind. I knew she hated me, but I never thought she would let me die. It was obvious no one was going to come for me and it was my own fault. There was no way I was going to die here beaten by a group of rogues, I wasn't as strong as them I knew that, but I couldn't just submit. I needed to fight.
Angels POV
The party had begun and was in full swing, Vanessa had asked for a disco themed sweet sixteenth and although it was Athena's special day too, she didn't care. Jake was at the bar a glass of his auburn-coloured liquid in his hand, he was drinking whiskey that was his go to drink when he was stressed. Be together as long as we have, and you notice little things like that. Vanessa looked beautiful tonight, she was wearing a baby blue blouse with white buttons and collar to match the short white skirt she was wearing. She wanted to stand out so being as the fact she is technically a Princess, one day to become Queen she opted for wearing a tiara. Though who could blame her it looked cute.
Standing on the balcony that overlooked the hall I couldn't for the life of me spot Athena anywhere. I knew she wouldn't be at the centre of the party for she hated attention. Spotting Hector I made my way downstairs hoping he would know where she was.
"Hello darling enjoying yourself?" He couldn't have seen me because he literally jumped out of his skin.
"Good evening Luna, cool party. You haven't seen Athena have you I can't find her anywhere she promised she would be here"
"I was going to ask you that very same question. She missed dinner and come to think of it I haven't seen her since she finished school"
"She left school early Luna. She got into a fight with Vanessa and Megan about her not getting her wolf"
"What do you mean no wolf" I was really confused, neither Vanessa nor Athena had mentioned anything.
Hector explained that he had spoken to Athena this morning and that she was more upset and snappier than normal. He went on to say that when he pressed her about what was wrong, she told him she didn't receive her wolf. My heart broke for Athena, my poor baby just couldn't catch a break. She struggled when Vanessa received her gifts just before turning five, so now that her sister once again had something she didn't I couldn't imagine the pain she was feeling. After thanking Hector for telling me I made my way to Jake pulling him from the bar and outside.
"Hey where's the fire at" he said looking confused as to why I had dragged him outside.
"Athena's missing, she didn't get her wolf today"
"Ah fuck. Are you sure" his face now one of a concerned parent, he was just as worried about Athena as I was.
"I've just spoken to Hector; he spoke to Athena this morning and that's what she told him. It's also the reason Vanessa got into a fight with her at school" Anger and worry laced my words. Jake noticing grabbed me pulling me into his chest. His scent along with the sparks of our bond slightly calming my racing heart but it wasn't enough to stop the nausea I felt.
"We will find her don't worry. I'm going to check at the waterfall, she's been going there a lot lately. Have you tried calling her or mind linking?"
"Yes to mind linking but she's blocking everyone out, Hector said her phones off. I'm worried Jake"
I was pissed off that Vanessa knew about Athena not having a wolf and didn't deem it important enough to tell either Jake or myself. Athena was clinically depressed we all knew it, Jake and I had attempted to get her help, the doctor prescribed her some anti-depressants, but she refused to take them. As much as I wanted my warm fun girl back, I wasn't going to take her choice away from her by forcing the meds down her throat.
Jake headed back to the pack house while I went to find Vanessa. She was leaving the party and she was going to help us find her sister whether she liked it or not.
Vanessa's POV
My mum practically dragged me out of the party not giving a care to the pack members that watched. When we got back to the pack house, she shoved me against the wall her eyes black with rage as her wolf Star came forward.
"You knew and didn't tell us" She spat at me the anger in her voice was evident.
"Tell you what? What's going on?" I shouted back.
"You attacked your sister over her having no wolf! Do you have no SHAME! I told you over and over again growing up that you needed to be there for each other, that there were people in this world that would try and harm you that we live in a cruel time. Did I not make it clear enough to you?" She all but screamed at me, her aura slipping making me tremble as I fought the urge to submit. "Where is she Vanessa?"
"I... I don't know. I swear I don't. I haven't seen her since I found her cutting her arms " I quickly placed my hands over my mouth as I realised what I had just said. My mums face dropped; she knew my sister was suffering we all did but mum didn't know how bad she had gotten.
My mum's eyes flickering between her own and that of her wolf as they fought for control. Before I knew it my mums hand came into contact with the side of my face making my head snap to the side due to the force of impact. Mum never hit us growing up so having her slap me now made me realise just how bad I fucked up. A nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach telling me I had taken things to far with Athena. She had tried to contact me through mind link several times tonight, but I just blocked her out. Watching my mum walk away from me I ran to my room. I opened the link to Athena and was hit by a rush of fear and crippling pain. Wherever she was I could tell she was badly hurt now making me feel ten times worse.
I tried to speak to her but didn't get any response which told me she was unconscious. For her to be as injured as she was and unconscious meant she was in real trouble and with her not having a wolf to help her, it would only be a matter of time before she was lost completely. Tapping into the bond we shared as twins and using my wolfs heightened senses I went outside and shifted, giving full control to Jewel so she could track her.
After picking up her scent we followed it to a human city before I noticed it was the same one we came to when we were kids. As I shifted back and put my clothes back on I felt the connection to Athena open.
"Vanessa..." her voice was weak as she struggled to say my name.
"Where are you?"
"Rogues... th..they came in and..." her voice faded out again as the connection faded away, she had fallen unconscious again.
Axel's POV
I was in this horrid town for a meeting with my board members, my family owned one of the largest security companies in America. We specialised in the protection of political members of society, all our bodyguards came from an action-packed background unlike the other firms around. We employed ex-army veterans, SAS elite soldiers along with the odd wolf and vampire. Though the board members I was meeting with were human. I had just left my office when my wolf Thor began to growl in my head, he had been restless all afternoon but now I was struggling to control him.
"Mate" he snarled as the wind blew the most tantalising scent towards us.
Sticking my nose in the air I followed the scent to a bed and breakfast. Finding a mate was the best thing that could happen to a wolf except the sight before me caused anger and rage to flow through me. Up the stairs were three rogues and the most beautiful dark-haired girl I had ever laid eyes on. The girl had been badly beaten and by the looks of it I arrived as she was trying to escape them. The moment I saw the biggest of the men grab her hair before kicking her in the back my hand began to heat. See I'm not your average wolf for my mum is the high priestess of witches whilst my dad was the Alpha of the Gemstone Pack. I dropped my briefcase on the ground as I launched for the men. My hands hotter than fire as they melted the skin on the first rogue I caught. My powers were all linked to my emotions and right now I was fucking livid.
The rogue screamed in agony as the smell of burning flesh filled the air. Another rogue came out branding a silver knife in his hand a snarl leaving his lips as he glared at his now faceless companion. Before he had a chance to move, he was flung backwards as a young blonde girl rounded the corner the stench of fear and guilt radiating from her.
"Who are you" she growled her eyes flickering to that or her wolf.
"Someone that's here to help that all that matters" I didn't say anything more to the young girl instead I turned my back to her and proceeded up the stairs two at a time.
I peered around the door to see the final rogue with a knife to my mate's throat, the sight causing Thor to take temporary control. He let out a feral growl before forming a fireball in my hand.
"What the" was all he managed to get out as I watched Thor fling it through the air hitting the rogue in the head.
As his grip loosened on the girl he was holding I moved to catch her with lightning speed.
"Got you" Thor purred as he gently lowered her to the ground.
I took back control just as the blonde ran in. Her eye's widened as she dropped to her knees at the sight before her. It was impossible to miss the look of guilt on her face.
"Who is she to you" I asked bluntly whilst standing over my mate.
"She's my twin sister. Why did you help her, she isn't anything to you"
"That's where you're wrong. She's my mate"
The girls jaw just dropped, she looked as if she wanted to say something but decided against it. I told her that I had a car and would take them both wherever they needed to go to which she refused. She told me that her father was an Alpha and that he was on his way. I nodded my head before looking back down at the girl, so beautiful so perfect and I wished I could have her, but I couldn't. My parents wanted me to peruse another, and I couldn't go against them, not yet anyway.
