Chapter 1 Friends and Enemies

_________________________________________ I walked down the hallway with my shoes clicking against the shining white floor. As I struggled to carry my heavy backpack with only one of my shoulders-to attempt the lazy cool look-, I tried not to eat the strands of my short black hair that kept hitting my face each time that I took a step forward.

That was actually the most irritable part about having short hair. It always ends up in your mouth!

I tried to play it cool and casual as I walked, people of all kinds and sizes passing by me. Though I've been a student in this school for many years, I still manage to be invisible to almost everyone. So, it's not that big of a deal anyway.

As a senior, you might guess that I've probably accomplished something so far in my life. But to be honest, I only accomplished being a nobody .
So far, it's been great! Positivity, right?

Well, speaking of 'positive', my swag had to be ruined just in time to make a turn. You'd be surprised that I'm not really surprised! It's been like a routine, actually. But the thing is, this time it was not a door, a wall or a huge person.
It was actually a soccer ball.

I felt the round object smack my face harshly, causing me to stumble backwards and lose my balance. It all happened so fast, I didn't even have the time to process it before I found myself falling down to the ground like a corpse.
Here I come, grandma!

And there I was, glued to the ground as I watched my whole life flash before my eyes like a tape on play.

This is the end . I told myself. After years of trying to avoid embarrassments, I still managed to find my way to its center ...

And with that, my eyes started closing as darkness took over.

INTRO

Hi, my name is Madison.
The girl lying on the floor waiting for her doom to come and rescue her from embarrassment-that's me. And as you can see, I always ended up on the floor or on someone. Not the sexual way...

You'd say I'm actually used to it by now. Every time I tried to act casual, I somehow ended up in the same situation. Which was actually hard to handle whilst being a grown-ass 17-year-old cursed teenage girl.

Some are athletes, some are artistic, some are bloggers, some are intelligent, some have talents and some are even getting pregnant! You asked for it, Britney!

But me? Oh- no no! I had to be a weird-ass, food-addict, love-virgin, kluts-who gets a random bruise occasionally without having a clue how. And the list goes on...

To be honest, I can rant all day about how unfortunate my life is. But we don't need that kind of negativity, right?! Especially when I'm acting like a doormat...

All of a sudden, I felt large hands grip my arms before pulling me upwards. Next thing I know, I was back on my feet.

God, is that you? Can you at least let me burn my diary and eat the leftover pizza before you take me?!

I peeked my eyes a bit open and looked straight, only to see something even better. Some dudes' muscled chests.

My candy corn-sized breasts could never!

In front of me stands an extremely hot guy with perfect beige skin tone and matching chocolate brown hair and eyes. He had thick arched eyebrows, almond-shaped eyes, a delicate cute nose and adorable dimples resting on both of his cheeks that surrounded his tasty pink lips. He was so attractive that I doubt his features were probably carved by angels.

Those lips were born to be kissed.

And all of a sudden I forgot how to breathe.
Meet the Greek god of the school. Liam.
Liam is everything a girl could dream of. From his breathtaking features to his perfect personality. He is the definition of a true gentleman and sexy.

But unlike any high school heartthrob, he was absolutely not into sports. And he was actually quite a nerd too. But since he's popular-both on social media and in real life-people see him twice as hot.

Can you believe that?!

Liam is not your average artistic guy. Yup, you heard me! He's a painter, and he has great taste in music. He plays many instruments, like guitar, piano, drums and even the saxophone!
Though he's not the only one that can use an instrument! I play the triangle like a professional! Too bad I kept my talents to myself, I would've been worldwide famous.
Cough. Cough.

Liam and I have been partners in biology for more than 3 years now. Which is probably the only reason he'd know about my existence. Talk about luck!

And since he is the only boy I talk to, serious issues have developed between us. And one of those issues happened to be a crush. Those issues are one-sided, duh!
Yes, I might have been a love-virgin, but how could I not?! I mean look at him! He's a walking donut.
Beautiful from the outside and delicious from the inside.

Okay, I might be a sucker for donuts, but you get what I mean...

"I'm truly sorry for the hit. I was actually aiming for the trash can," he stuttered embarrassingly as I daydreamed about our wedding.

His voice sent butterflies fluttering around in my stomach just like a one-direction song, making me probably look as if I was going to faint.
Wait a minute, did he just call me a trash can?!
Somehow he noticed the way, how I choked on my own breath, causing him to start panicking, "Maddie? Are you alright?!"
"Shit! I broke the girl," he rambled to himself with guilt.

Oh darling, you have no idea how broke you have made me...

He started rocking me, causing me to drift away even more and imagine him doing something else instead. But when I realized that it was not a dream and that he could literally see me grinning like a joker, I shook my head and zoned back to reality.

At that, he sighed in relief. "You scared the shit out of me!"

I couldn't help but try to hide my smile. I know that I have a crush on him and everything, but I'm not planing on confessing or anything! The last thing I want to do is humiliate myself-as if I haven't already. He was way out of my league.

Plus, there are a lot of girls crushing on him. There's no way in hell he'd choose me. I'm fine just being good friends with him.
"You're lucky you didn't hit my nose, or else I would've hit yours," I threatened while holding my fist up, returning to my old self and causing him to laugh.

"C'mon, mad dog! You know I didn't mean to hurt you." he grinned embarrassingly. "I just suck at soccer..."

'Mad Dog' was a nickname he always called me by. And even though it annoyed me, I found it perfect.

Before I could open my mouth to respond with some comeback like I usually did, a girl stepped between us, making us drift apart.
"Liam, you're finally here!" the ginger head squeaked before wrapping her arms around his neck for a hug. I couldn't help but glare a hole through her head.

Yes, I'm that pathetic.

He returned her hug awkwardly while looking at me. I couldn't help but gag internally. And when she backed away, she stepped in front of me completely, feeding me her hair in the process.

As if my hair isn't enough for me!
I stepped backwards and rolled my eyes frustratingly enough to dare and tap on her shoulder. "Excuse me, Jen, but we were kinda in the middle of a conversation."

Just like a creepy horror movie doll, the ginger head snapped her head backwards so quickly that I swear I heard it crack. And with that, she hissed, "Were."

And now meet Jen.

The queen bee of the school.
And of course our school had one. But unlike the others, Jen was a lone ranger. No minions or followers. Because apparently, no one was good enough to hang out with her.

Well, I have a perfect pair for her. My butt cheeks.

Let me tell you this, she was the most annoying brat you could ever meet! She literally thinks she owns everyone because her rich parents own this school. And because of her pretty features, long ginger hair and green eyes, she thinks she could fool any guy into falling for her.

Which is completely wrong!!

But I'm not gonna lie, she is pretty, but she has an ugly personality! Just like hot coffee!
She might fool you with her tasty smell, but she'll burn your tongue.
"We're not done here," I spat out, only this time, more louder.

She took a long scary breath before turning around to completely face me. "Listen there, nobody. I don't want to be rude, but don't you think that it's time for you to stay invisible? I mean, flirting with Liam won't make him ask you to prom."
My eyes and mouth widened. Is she talking to me?! Because if she is, I would just punch her jaw into two pieces!

I mean, like, I know prom is in a month from now, and I'd literally pay millions and die to go with Liam to prom, but still! It's whatever...

And yet again, before I could snap her jaw, Liam beat me to it. "Jen, Jen. F off!" he exclaimed, shaking his head and giving her an eye roll-not in any mood to argue with her.

She looked with shock at Liam, as if he had just stabbed her in the heart or slapped her with a boot. "Are you serious right now?!" she let out a laugh in mockery.

"This nobody is my friend. So why don't you go mess with someone as pathetic as you? Maybe a mirror," he implied calmly, which made us both shocked.

Oh, damn! If glares could kill, Liam would be long gone by now...

Not wanting to argue whatsoever, she gave me a nasty look before she looked back at Liam. "Have fun with your bitch," she spit out before storming off, purposefully hitting Liam by the shoulder as she passed.

Did she just call me a bitch?!
As soon as she left, he let out a breath. "I could've handled her myself," I told him while crossing my arms over each other.
Another thing me and Liam share in common is our hate towards Jen. She's a bitch!

He smirked. "I know you could have. But it was her that I was worried about," he jokingly replied, which I couldn't help but laugh at.

"Anyway, I should go. I'm really sorry about that hit." he mentioned again, making me shake my head.

"Don't worry about it! Thanks to you, I'm seeing doubles." I joked but cringed when I heard it. Ugh, I'm so awkward...

He chuckled before he bent down to pick up the ball. "It was nice catching up with you."
"Nice catching up with your balls," I responded before widening my eyes after realizing what I had just said. "I mean ball - I mean soccer ball - dammit! You know what I mean!" I said in exasperation.

"Sure..." he furrowed his eyebrows with a weird expression before leaving with a laugh. "See you in biology."
Nice catching up with your balls?! Is something wrong with you?!

I shook my head at myself, forcing my legs to start walking. God, can I be more awkward?

A few seconds later, I reached my locker. I exchanged some books for my first 3 periods and stuffed all my necessary books in my bag before slamming the door shut. And that was when a face popped up all of a sudden, startling me.

Meet the last but not least, Zoey.
My partner in crime.

Zoey and I have been together for forever. Both of us shared the same minds, so weirdly enough, we could be twins.

We were so close to each other that I would actually exchange my big brother to have her as my sibling instead. She had stood by my side and had supported me for as long as I could remember. She was my hero.

"Hi-What happened to your face?!" she exclaimed when she saw it, making me let out a sarcastic laugh.

"Oh, that? It's nothing! Just a soccer ball, ya know..." I waved her off as she gave me a look before shaking her head.

"Sooooo, any luck?" she smiled weirdly, holding two thumbs up.

I shook my head with a frown.
"Not even a glimpse."

I knew that I didn't need a date and that I could go alone, but senior prom was a big thing at this school. And knowing that everyone had a date except me, made me feel inferior and depressive. Slightly...

"You know, I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't go," I confessed, because this 'date' thing was really messing with my head!

"Hell, no! You're coming whether you have a date or not. We're going to have fun because it's our last prom Maddie!" she cheered, tugging me by my shoulder as a small smile began widening on my face.
"And plus, I don't have a date either. So we can go together!"
"Oh please! Boys are literally lining up to ask you." she rolled her eyes at that.
Zoey had long brown curly hair that matched her upturned hazel eyes perfectly. She had tan skin and a body like a Victoria's Secret Model. She's also smart and kind. And those were the two traits that you rarely find in a girl.

She was a 10!
I on the other hand, had black hair with a pair of dark eyes. And I saw myself only as normal.

I'm a 2.
Before she could say anything else, the bell rang in the school hall, indicating that classes were about to start.
"We'll figure things out at lunch," she told me as I nodded before both of us walked off in different directions.

Chapter 2 Prom Date

I sat down on one of the chairs with my lunch tray between my hands. Quickly, I placed my tray on the table and began eating the 6 slices of pizza that I spoiled myself with.

Yes, I was starving, and I needed something to boost my energy and mood again because classes were draining! Especially now that the finals are coming...

Not to mention I ate a soccer ball this morning, I lost 4 brain cells.
I can still feel my face clenched...

By the time I was done eating the third slice, a friendly figure sat down in front of me with his own lunch tray. Unlike mine that was full of junk, Zoey likes to stay on her healthy diet and brought herself a home-made salad and a sandwich, with her secret recipe.

I'm not implying that she's obsessed with her appearance, but Zoey just likes to stay fit. Especially since she's like a beginner influencer and a blogger. She has more than 4000 followers on social media and, as I mentioned before, she's popular.

Me? I'm just happy with my 137.
Despite all the common interests me and Zoey share, we are quite the opposite to each other. But that's the secret to our long-lasting friendship.

"So, I was thinking that maybe tomorrow I could come over to your house and have a movie marathon." she started off while opening her salad container. "My parents are going out on this family/relative thing and Emma's inviting her boyfriend over. Surely, I don't want to be there when they start remaking a budgeted version of fifty shades..." she cringed.

Zoey has an older sister that's in her early twenties. And before you can wonder, Emma and I are not that friendly. I don't really know much about her, actually. You know, college students...

"Sure! There's actually this new movie on Netflix, we should totally check it out." I spoke through the food that was inside my mouth and couldn't help but laugh when I saw Zoey looking at me in disgust.

And yet, before I could swallow the third pizza that was stuffed in my mouth, someone sat down to my right all of a sudden.

Confused, I turned my head quickly to see who it was. And that was when I caught none other than the famous, Liam Willis.

I might want to say, I choked on my food.
How many times do I have to die today?!
"Jeez, Mad dog! When are you going to learn that food won't run out?!" Liam commented, teasing me while grabbing Zoey's bottle of water and opening it for me.

I coughed aggressively for a couple of times, and I felt my face turning red. And when I finally recovered from my shock, I took the bottle from him and gulped in some of my dear precious life.
I let out a sigh before I looked at him. "Once you learn that you should stop startling me," I replied with a little bit of sass.

He let out a chuckle and when I glanced at Zoey, I saw her trying to hold her laugh. I sent her an ice-cold glare.

Yes, my soul trying to escape my body is always an amusing thing to watch.

"So Maddie..." Liam called my name, which instantly made me look back at him. Somehow, my heart softened.

Wait, my name's Maddie, right?
"Um... I actually came to ask you something," he informed, and suddenly my expectations jumped high.

Oh my God! Is he going to ask me to prom?!
Oh god, is this really happening?!
Shit, I haven't washed my hair in two days! And what's that smell? Is it me?!

Did I forget to put deodorant on?!

"Can you help me out with biology?! We kinda have the test next week and my grade kinda counts on it." he let out a breath that he was holding. And all of a sudden I heard a snort from next to me.

Of course, he needs my help with biology !
Sending another glare towards Zoey, I gave Liam a fake smile and replied, "Sure..."
"Great! Does Friday sound good? My place?"
"Yeah of course..."

"Awesome! You're the best!" he punched my arm playfully before getting up and leaving. And yet the second he got far enough, Zoey burst out.

"Gurl, you're in a deep friend zone," she said with laughter, only to make me sigh and drop my head at the table with a thud.
Which was probably not a good idea because now I have a face full of pizza.

I groaned and pulled myself back up before grabbing a napkin and wiping my face miserably. However, Zoey just laughed even more.

"Kill me now, please..."

A few moments passed and when Zoey finally calmed down, she wiped her tears and sighed. "Don't get sad, Maddie. You can go with me and George," she stated while going back to her salad. And yet once she registered what she had just said, she froze.

"George?!" I snapped and widened my eyes at her. "You got a date?!"

"It's nothing-"

"What do you mean by nothing?! Zoey we were going together!" I complained, feeling betrayed.
"I know, I'm sorry! He's just so sweet and nice and smart and handsome, I couldn't say no!" she explained, making me gag and roll my eyes.
"I can't believe you..." I sat back and crossed my arms over my chest. Today is officially the worst day ever!

"Maddie, I'm so sorry. But put yourself in my shoes! If Liam asked you wouldn't you go?"
I looked at her through the corner of my eyes, trying not to fall into her trap. "No! Yes. Maybe..."
"You see!"

I sighed, giving in. "Okay, fine! But you owe me slushies!" I demanded, at which she instantly nodded.

"Well? When did he ask you?" I leaned forward and questioned curiously.

"At chemistry. Second period." she blushed. "He made a chemical proposal and asked me."

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but Zoey loves chemistry just as much as she loves socks! She's going to be a chemist one day.

I, on the other hand, my favorite subject is lunch. And biology, of course!
Cough.

"Awe! He's so adorable!" I couldn't help but smile in satisfaction. "I'm happy for you."
George happens to be Zoey's study buddy and lab partner. He has tan skin, curly brown hair and matching brown eyes. I know him for a nerdy kinda guy and I never thought that he would have a thing for Zoey or vice versa. But you never know love!

Beats me, at least...

"Believe me, the last thing I'm thinking about right now is a prom date!"
That and toe food. Who the hell labels food as toes?!

And with that, the whole prom conversation ended, and we started talking about other things.
.
.
.
.
.
After a couple of more hours, classes finally found their end and people started making their way towards the parking lot, excited about leaving the prison, known as high school.

I stood outside the school's gate and watched as cars, motorbikes and bicycles left the school's property. If you're wondering, no. I don't have a car. And that is because I suck at driving.

Apparently, those orange triangle things that get placed on the floor in a driving test, were not supposed to be driven over like checkpoints.
That and because I ran over three dolls.

"Don't even dream about driving" the instructor said before kicking me out of the car. I just don't get what's the big deal. I was doing great!

I started walking around a few steps waiting for Cody-aka my annoying big brother-to make an appearance. He's always been the one to drive me to school before heading off to college and picking me up after finishing. But yet sometimes, he gets caught up with stuff, I get to walk back home.

My house is like 20 exhausting minutes away. Not to mention that I have an allergy to exercising...

Let's not hope this is one of the times.

Frustrated, I grabbed my phone from my pocket and started calling him. And when he didn't answer, I went and texted him.

Me, 3:16 P. M.

Where th r u?!

I've been waiting for 15

minutes!

I few long minutes passed, and I was slowly starting to get impatient. But thankfully, I managed to get a text back eventually.

PERSONAL DRIVER, 3:19 P.M.

Sorry cant pick u up.

Dealing with a
situation...

I rolled my eyes, letting out a breath.
Great! Exactly what I need right now.

With one last eye roll, I put my phone inside my pocket and started walking home.

About 20 minutes later, I unlocked the front door of my house with my keys and entered furiously. I kicked off my shoes and threw my bag off my shoulders and held it with my hand instead.

"Madison?" I heard my mom call probably from the kitchen, making sure I was the one who entered.

"Yeah!" I replied with an exhausting sigh before dragging my numb feet towards the kitchen.

However, when I passed by the living room, I caught a person sitting on the sofa and minding his own business with headphones on his head and a controller between his hands. You guessed it, playing a fortnite.

I felt my face turn red and steam come out of my ears before I ran towards him and snatched the headphones away.

"Dealing with a situation?!" I yelled in disbelief, making him jump in surprise and look at me terrifyingly for a moment.

"I am!" Cody reasoned, pointing at the TV with his controller.

"You made me walk all the way here!" I yelled madly that I was one second from shoving the control down his throat.

"You could use some exercise." he shrugged before taking back the headphones from me.

I took a deep breath and counted til 10, trying to calm myself. But when I grew angrier, I found myself reaching for a pillow and hitting his stupid face with all my power.

"I know right!" She grinned like a clown. "You should've seen everyone in class. Even Mr. Chris was clapping."

I smiled at her before going back to my pizzas.

"But hey, don't lose hope, you'll find a date. And like you said, there's still a month til prom," she informed me as I formed a flat line with my lips while nodding.

He fell backwards on the sofa, which gave me the chance to attack him more with pillow slaps while he tried to get a hold of me. Unfortunately, he did.

He pushed me off and went next to him on the sofa before taking away my pillow and starts hitting me as well. I tried to reach for another one and kept on fighting both ways. Yet that was when we heard a yell.

"Hey! Stop it, or I'll beat both of your asses!" all of a sudden, mom entered the room wearing an apron and a pair of gloves. She gave us both dreadful glares which could probably cause us nightmares for a week.

"She started it!" Cody yelled in defence, backing away, causing me to gasp in disbelief.

"He made me walk all the way home because he's playing that freaking game!" I shot back, earning a stern look.

"Well, it's not my fault you failed your driving test."

"Well, it's not my fault dad failed to pull out and had you!"

"Madison!" my mom shouted in shock. I glanced at her only to see her eyes widen astoundingly. "I can't believe you!"

I couldn't help rolling my eyes before standing up. However, Cody dared to smirk at me. I gave him an ice-cold glare.

Before the lecture could begin, I quickly picked up my bag from the floor and headed straight towards the door before going directly up the stairs, to my bedroom. And once I got in, I slammed the door shut.

Could this day get any worse?!
.
.
.
Three hours later.
I was sitting on my bed, catching up with homework and assignments when, all of a sudden, my phone vibrated.

I ignored it, concluding it might be some game notifying me or a Chrome advertisement about how to prevent getting bald. But after a few more seconds, it vibrated again.

I took my eyes off of my laptop and glanced at it suspiciously for a moment before grabbing it and checking it out.

2 text messages. I read.

Maybe Zoey...

Quickly, I unlocked my phone and scrolled down the notification bar only to see that I got 2 messages from Liam. At that, I jumped with shock, almost sending my laptop flying across the other side of the room.

Oh my god! He texted me! HE FREAKING TEXTED ME!

JSBWJUEBHQKALMZBXGHWLWL!!!

Shit, I think I'm going to faint...

Just calm down! It's just a text! It's not like he proposed to me or something. Or bought us a house by the beach and had 3 children, two boys and a girl. Or adopt a dog and name it sushi because I'm suddenly craving some. Or watched our children going away for college and getting married. Or saw our grandchildren for the first time. Or even die together and go to heaven. Just chill!

What am I saying? Not even hell will accept me!

LIAM. 6:37 P.M

Hey there

What r u doing?

Oh my God! He's asking what I'm doing!!!

Okay, tell him you're studying for the finals-No, wait! We don't want to sound nerdy! Tell him you're watching a movie. Yes! Just play it cool.

ME. 6:39 P. M.

I'm cool. U?

I'm cool?! What are you? A refrigerator?!

Ugh! Why don't you take me already?!

I groaned before I went to hit myself with a pillow. But before I could yell at it, my phone vibrated again.

I took a deep breath before I went to check it.

LIAM. 6:39P.M

I'm hot😏

Yeah, you are!

Okay, this is a second chance. Just send a friendly emoji.

Me. 6:40 P. M

😛

Okay, not bad, huh?

A long minute passed as I looked impatient at the screen. He still hadn't seen it yet, so I decided to wait outside the chat to stay safe. Yet, just when I did, he started typing again

LIAM. 6:41 P. M

So I wanna ask you

something.

Idk how to say it haha.

Is this it?! He's going to ask me to prom, right?! I mean, as far as I'm concerned, he hasn't asked anyone yet today, and he kinda turned down girls who did.

Maybe that's why he's nervous! Oh my god! He's gonna ask me out!!!!!!

ME. 6:41 P. M.

Just say it silly!👀

And there he was typing again...

LIAM. 6:41 P. M.

Okay...
About friday.

My house is kinda crowded.

Relatives coming over ans stuff.

Is it okay if I come over?

Of course it school related!
Ugh! I'm so stupid.

ME. 6:41 P. M.

Oh its okay.

We can go to the library.

LIAM. 6:42 P. M.

Ok see you then.
😘😘

With that, I groaned as I locked my phone and threw it at the opposite end of the bed.

I hate myself! No one will ever go to prom with me! No one will ever love me!

I took a moment to hate myself before I rolled my eyes and grabbed my laptop-going back to the only thing that I could do.

And so, I continued aggressively typing my essay with anger.

A couple of minutes later, I was in Google searching through articles that could help me with my research. Or even better, find an essay.

As I was going through one website to another and copying some paragraphs, I found myself clicking on the wrong link, only to get sent to multiple new tabs-one after the other.

I cursed under my breath as ads started to pop up. And by the time the tabs finally stopped coming, I started closing them one by one.

Yet, that was when I came across a black screen with bright colored neon sentences in cursive lighting on and off every second.

DreamBoy Co.

Want a temporary boyfriend?

Order yours now!

I read slowly while my eyebrows connect into one straight line. Underneath them was a green box that said; order now!.

I stared at the screen for a couple of seconds, tempted whether to click on the suspicious looking box and risk getting a virus or just closing the tab away.

However, there was something inside of me telling me to press it. Not my stomach.
And so, I dared to.

I was sent to a new tab. Only this one was bright and white with pastel colors decorating it. On each side of the screen was a cartoon drawn boy with quite opposite features. And in the middle, there were three pastel green boxes.

Order a dream boy.
Report a problem.
Contact us.

I raised my eyebrows. This website looked pretty much professional. Not hesitating, I bit my bottom lip, I clicked on the first box. Only for a new background to appear.

The boxes disappeared and instead, questions popped up with multiple choices, just like a quiz or something. I went to check them out.

The first 5 questions were about description-skin tone, hair color, eye color, height and age. I filled them out quickly.

The 6th question was actually the one that made me puzzle myself a bit. It was about characteristics. But unfortunately, I had to choose only one.

1) Intelligent.

2) Athletics.

3) Artistic.

4) Figure.

5) Delinquent.

I had a moment where I just sat there and thought about the choices. And since I couldn't choose all, I went along with the second one.

Lastly, the last question was: name, address, credit card information and occasion.

I typed in my name and address, and when I got to the card information I pursed my lips, debating if I should really trust this stupid website. I couldn't help but wonder if it was just a scam.

But if it's not, you'll finally get a date to prom!

Without a second thought, I typed in Cody's card numbers. That'll teach him.

Later on, I moved to the occasion box where I wrote' prom date 'with the date next to it. And when I finished, I clicked on the 'done' box that was at the end of the screen.

The screen went blank as it was loading. Yet suspiciously, it was taking a bit too long. And as I was about to panic, the screen finally loaded with a picture of a guy.

My eyes widened as I saw the guy in front of me. I couldn't help but drool. Next to the picture was another sentence, 'Are You Satisfied?'.

Without even hesitating, I clicked on the 'yes' box, only for a big text to appear with a small box at the end saying 'confirm '. I gave it a quick glance before pressing on the box. Yet, that was when the screen went blank again.

'Your order will be delivered soon.' Was the only thing typed.

My body paused as I tried to register what had just happened.

I just got a prom date!

I hope he turns up though.

Chapter 3 Unexpected Visitor

I woke up the next morning early enough to have a nice and warm shower to relax, have a concert, argue a little bit with the shampoo bottles and, of course, last but not least, act out scenes from my favorite movie.

Yes, I was in a good mood. Why do you ask? Because I got myself a prom date!

After an hour and a half in the bathroom, I wore my bathrobe and rolled a towel around my hair before I found my way back to my bedroom.

I opened my closet and started looking at it as if I was looking at my math book. Lost. But knowing that I had 20 minutes left, I started throwing piece after piece around the room.

And when my room was fully messed with clothes all over the floor and furniture, I stared at my reflection in front of my mirror feeling satisfied with what I ended up wearing.

Not anything fancy, but I was dressed in a knee-length baby blue skirt and a white t-shirt that had 'sleeping with eyes open' with white sneakers on my feet. With that, I flipped my bag over my shoulders and unplugged my phone from the charger before I headed downstairs.

Yet once I opened my bedroom door, the smell of fresh pancakes entered freely through my nose. And I couldn't help but feel my legs weakened.

I just love food!

Quickly, I jogged down the stairs knowing that if I didn't hurry, Cody would eliminate everything set on the table. And before I knew it, I ran to the kitchen, only to see the last piece of pancake between his hands, going slowly to where his mouth was.

It felt all in slow motion as I jumped at him and took the piece from his hands. And even though I fell to the ground at the end, I knew that it was worth it because I captured it before he could eat it.

"You know I was going to save it for you." he rolled his eyes, not sparing a second to help me on my feet.

"Where? In your stomach?!" I asked as I got up while he shrugged.

I took a seat on one of the chairs around the dining table after pouring myself a cup of coffee. And with that hand I started admiring the taste of goodness that's between my hands.

Only then, my mother turned around from the stove and walked towards us with another plate of pancakes. And before Cody could lay a hand on them, I snatched the plate towards me.

"Learn to share, Madison," my mother said in disappointment before moving the plate close enough for Cody to grab some.

"But he already ate!" I protested.

"Speak when you swallow," she warns again, making me frown and sending Cody a glare.

Only then, did my father enter the room. And, as usual, with a newspaper in his hand. Even though he knows very well that there's a t.v. a room away that informs the same news...

He just prefers the old style.

"Good morning my brownies," dad said with a smile on his face. Brownies is a nickname he always calls me and Cody, because both of us happen to share the same hair and eye color. Which makes no sense because we share the color black and not brown.

So more like burnt brownies.

My mom is blonde and has brown eyes, while my dad has brown hair and gray eyes. I don't know how blonde and brown formed black, but I guess it's all about the genes...

"Good morning dad," both me and Cody said in union as dad went to land a kiss on mom's check.

And when both of them got back to the table and sat down, we had a family breakfast all together in silence. Well, until mom made an announcement.

"So, the Kingstons are coming for dinner today," mom said with a grin which made me chock on my food.

People really need to stop talking to me while I'm eating.

"They are what?!" I asked once. I forced the food down my throat.

"Oh, c'mon, Madison! The Kingstons are not that bad." I protested, as I raised my eyebrows.
"No kidding..."

Let me introduce you to the Kingstons.

Mary Kingston, aka my mother's childhood best friend, is really nice and lovely, like my second mother. Not the problem..

Jonathan Kingston, aka Mary's husband. A bit too serious and formal, but I guess it's accepted since he owns the school I go to. Though, not a problem.

Jen Kingston, Mary and Jonathan's daughter. The devil himself living inside of her body, the hot coffee I told you about the other day. The problem itself...

And since her mom is my mom's best friend, we got to hang out together all the time when we were young. And trust me when I tell you she's a beast!

She used to rip off all my dolls' heads before throwing them at me. Sometimes, she would chew on them before spitting them on my hair.

Once a devil, always a devil.

"Wait, Jen is coming?!" Cody yelled in annoyance. "Mom, that girl is a witch!"
Couldn't argue with that.

"Don't talk about my bestie's daughter like that! It's rude. And besides, Jen's an angel. There's nothing wrong with her. You two are the problem."

"Us?!" me and Cody shouted in sync again.
"Mom, the last time Jen came over, she couldn't stop eye raping me!" Cody whispered in a yelling tone and I couldn't help but cringe.

I don't know what's more disturbing. The fact that Cody is not lying or the fact that Jen has a thing for my brother! Burf!

"And yesterday at school she called me a bitch!" I continued what Cody started with more facts.

"Both of you, Language! She warned him. "Dan, help me out here." she poked my father, whose head was focused on the paper.

"I'm with the kids this time, Tora. I've seen a girl mess with Madison before." he shook his head, disturbed, causing mom to roll her eyes.

"Well, I can't do anything about it now. The Kingstons are coming, so behave." she pointed out one more time before we both sighed.

I stood up, not wanting to argue more and ruin my mood. And so does Cody when I told him, "C'mon, I'm going to be late for school."

"Drive safe and be home early, Cody!" mom mentioned while removing the plates from the table and dropping them in the sink.
"Sure..." he replied before walking out of the kitchen. And before I could do so, she called my name.

"Yeah?"
"Straighten your back." she told me as I nodded, doing so.
"Yes ma'am!" and with that I followed Cody.

When I finally got to school, Cody quickly drove off as I instantly met up with Zoey who had just arrived as well. And with that, we made our way inside the building and, hopefully, I didn't kiss any object this morning.

The day was normally exhausting as always. But at least at lunch, I got myself a distraction! It's food, of course!

And finally, when the day ended, Zoey and I made our way towards her car.

Cody already knew that Zoey was coming over, so he wouldn't be wasting any gas by driving me home-which made him glad.

And when we made our way out of the school's parking lot, we quickly got in Zoey's car and drove off the school's property with, of course, music blasting through the back speaker.

"So, I was thinking that maybe this weekend we could start prom shopping before prices go high," she started a conversation, lowering the music a little bit for me to hear her voice.

"I can't. I'm studying with Liam and I promised my mom to help with chores," I replied with a shrug which made her nod in understatement. "Maybe next week?"

"Yeah, of course," she just said. And not long after, we pulled into our driveway.
As I mentioned before, my house wasn't that far from school...

She parked the car outside, and we jumped out, making our way to my house. And yet the second I opened the door, my mom's voice rang in our ears.

"Zoey! It's so good to see you." my mom squeaked, walking towards Zoey to give her a loving bear hug.

"Good to see you too, Tora," Zoey replied with a smile. Yes, they are on a first-name basis.

"Is Cody home yet?" I asked my mom as she nodded.

"Yes, he's in the living room playing that fortunate game again."

"Fortnite." I corrected. "Anyway, Zoey and I will be in my room until dinner is ready. If you need my help, call me," I told her before both of us started strolling up the stairs.

"You know I missed your bubble-scented mom," Zoey commented when we entered my room.

I dropped my bag on my bed and kicked off my shoes. "You know how obsessed she is with body soap," I replied as she laughed.

Later on, we sat on my bed and turned on the TV. We watched a few movies in silence, too busy focusing on the drama playing, until we both got tired of watching.

So, instead, we sat in front of each other and started talking. Yes, this is what we usually do when one visits the other. No pillow fights, no boy stalking on social media.

Just us and Netflix.

Netflix and Peter Kavinsky.

"I would totally bang Peter," Zoey said all of a sudden, earning a surprised look from me. "What? He's hot!"

"I can't believe you just said that." we burst out of laughter.

"You would bang him too!" she pointed out.

I opened my mouth to object, but then I thought, "Yeah you're right," I confessed.

He's just so damn adorable.

All of a sudden, a doorbell rang from downstairs towards my room. Only for Zoey to give me a questioning look. "You have visitors?"

"Kingston." I remembered only to let out a desperate sigh.

"Again?! How is your mother even friends with them?!"
"Well, to be fair, Jen is the only problem. Her parents are chill. Which is hard to believe, because how could two sweet people have a devil?"

"Don't ask me," she shrugged.

When, all of a sudden, a yell from downstairs caught us off guard. "Madison, it's for you!" I recognized the voice belonging to my mother.
"Are you expecting someone?"
"Not that I know about," I mumbled before getting up to go downstairs, with Zoey behind me.

And yet once I got down, I became face to face with the front door. Only to see an unfamiliar, breathtaking figure standing in the doorway.
I stared with a wide mouth at the guy in front of me, who, no doubt, had to be a model.

Strands of brown hair fell down his forehead with a great turn on, he had a pair of blue eyes below his arched eyebrows-the sunlight giving them a great compliment, making them shine like a pair of diamonds-and his jaw was so sharp and pointy, it could easily get you cut.

And don't get me started with his body. Dressed in a tight red t-shirt, making his bold shoulders even bolder. And those muscles, oh god!
How do I breathe?!

"Um... who might you be?" my dad asked, standing next to my mom with a confused look in his face.

The poor hot boy looked around as if he was lost, before meeting my parents' eyes again. "Um... I'm Madison's boyfriend."

And just like that, my mind exploded as I finally realized where I had seen him before.

Oh my god, is he my dream boy?!
