Chapter 1 The Man In My Dreams

I was there again. My cheeks flushed as I stared at myself in the mirror. I was running late for work, but that was the last thing I cared about. Just at the nape of my neck, behind my raven black hair, was a red bite mark. I had been given a hickey-in my dreams.

I leaned forward and closed my eyes, gripping the edge of the wash basin tightly. I remembered it all too vividly. His touch, the way he kissed me. It was too real. But then it was far from real.

"This can't be, I'm being delusional right now," I gasped.

It had started when I turned fifteen, but that was ten years ago now. It had become more intense, too real to deny.

I remembered telling my best friend about it, but Suzy had shrugged it off, claiming I had denied myself the pleasure for too long and it came to me in my dreams. But I wasn't near deprived of that kind of pleasure.

The man in my dreams was ecstatic. He drove me to the edge but would never let me fall. His lips, his eyes, the words he spoke to me. It was the most breathtaking thing in the world. Thinking about it, I suddenly felt moist between my legs. I had been tormented, and I hated it as much as I loved it.

"I can't do this now, I'm going to be late," I said, and walked out of the bathroom.

When I reached the office, it was chaotic as usual. I feared that one day, one of the journalists would return from their work trip mad. That morning, the main center of the chaos was Richard.

"I tell you, I can't do this anymore," he said and ruffled his hair. My boss was standing in front of him, looking helpless. The workers in the office gathered around him.

"It's not just the name that is creepy, why won't you believe me? There are actual werewolves out there," Richard's voice sounded strained. He slumped back on the chair and threw his hands up.

"Fine, but you need to back it up with evidence. We are reporters after all," My boss, Mr. Steve, said.

"Everything disappeared, mysteriously. I mean, we are all following supernatural stories, but how can you not believe me when I say there are actual werewolves there?"

I shook my head and smiled. "Because Richard, if we believe everything without proof, everyone here might likely come up with false stories...who knows? Maybe I might see a Lycan next," I said, and everyone turned to me.

Richard looked at me, a scowl on his face. "You were the one meant to go to Raven Hollow. If it were you, you might have lost it by now," he said, and I nodded, amused.

"Yeah right."

"Proof...yes, I have proof. It's a single picture, but it's okay."

When Richard brought out the picture, I didn't bother looking but smiled when someone made a statement that it was just a normal human male.

"He isn't. The killings in Raven Hollow are obviously tied to him."

I sighed. I'd been following a case that had loose ends, and I just wanted to work quietly. "Let me see," I decided. If I agreed with Richard, maybe he would stop his ranting.

I took the picture from his hand. "Yes, he definitely looks..." I paused as I stared at the picture. It wasn't clear; it was the back of a man. But not just the back of any man. The man.

My silence urged Richard to continue. "There's something spooky about this, isn't there?" he asked.

"There is," I said almost hypnotically. My mind was reeling. The picture didn't show his face, just his back, just his shoulders. But that was all I needed.

He wasn't a stranger to me. I knew the way his silk hair was stylishly pinned at the back, and each time he came to me, the way it fell to his face when he leaned over me. I knew him. He was part of me. This was the man from my dreams.

"Are you sure you saw this man?" I asked, my eyes suddenly stinging. I was clouded with emotions that I couldn't understand. Fear gripped me at the thought of it. I couldn't believe it. My hands shook as I held the picture. If this was real...then I was obviously going to find out.

"It's in the photo, you can see it for yourself," Richard said.

"But it looks like Elaine knows this man, are you sure you're not mistaken, Richard?" Mr. Steve asked in a mocking tone.

"Whatever, I'm not going back there," Richard stood up and walked out of the office.

When I snapped out of oblivion, it was already two hours later. I couldn't believe what was happening. I couldn't believe that I was not being delusional after all.

I stood up and went towards my boss's office. I knocked on the door before I entered. "Send me to Raven Hollow," I said once inside. He looked at me, perplexed.

"Elaine, nobody wants to go there. We've closed that case," he said, but he was a bit tempted to send me. Honestly, he'd been actually marvelled by the thought of the existence of werewolves.

"You only closed it because no one wants to go. I volunteer."

"Have you finished working on the haunted house case?" He asked and cleared his throat.

"Werewolves or ghosts?" I pressed. This was the only way to solve my lifelong mystery. Honestly, that's why I had joined The Beacon Chronicles as an investigative journalist.

"Fine, you can go. But you have just one month," he said finally, and I burst out in happiness.

"You don't have to worry. I'm leaving today."

"Hey, you can't leave today, you still have to..." his voice was drained in the series of thoughts going through my mind as I stepped out of the office.

By sunset, I was halfway through Raven Hollow. The town indeed was mysterious, and I hadn't seen a single soul. I couldn't contain the anxiety I felt as I drove in my truck...what if I had been wrong? What if he was a totally different stranger? What if I got stuck in Raven Hollow for nothing?

But what if I was right? What would I do if I found out he was truly the man from my dreams? Would it be likely that he didn't even know me?

As the thoughts went through my mind, I didn't notice the pothole by the edge of the road and fell right into it. The car roared out of control, falling off the track and drove into the forest. I shut my eyes close as I screamed at the top of my lungs.

The car hit a tree trunk and stopped. The force made me hit my head on the steering wheel, and blood spilled from the side of my head.

I remained still for some time, trying to collect my thoughts. I winced as the pain shot through my head.

Slowly I lifted myself up, trying to open the doors of the car, but they were slammed shut.

"Oh no...no no no no no," the first round of panic hit me, as I slammed my hand on the door, trying to get it open. It was becoming dark, and I could be stuck in the forest.

Just then I heard sounds of footsteps. My fear increased. Was it...werewolves?

"Don't be ridiculous, Elaine...it's just a stranger who might possibly help you," I said to myself shakily.

"You need help." It was a male voice, smooth as silk. I breathed out in relief. Indeed, someone had come to save me.

"Yes I..."

My voice stopped short when I met the eyes of the strange man. My eyes widened, and I recoiled back instinctively.

Standing just outside the window was the man from my dreams.

Chapter 2

"You need help?" he asked again, probably perplexed that I hadn't answered. I shook my head without thinking.

"No...I'm fine," I said, and I saw him raise his brow in confusion. My eyes were plastered to him, the way his sleeves were rolled up, revealing fine, muscled arms. The way his mouth moved, the color of his eyes. It was impossible.

I remembered him vividly, and I knew this was him. But how? I'd covered my face with a hoodie, so he probably wasn't seeing me clearly. But would he recognize me? Or he just wasn't the one. How could I explain something like that to him?

"It's quite dangerous around here," his voice was deep and beautiful. I recognized it, but not exactly in an appropriate manner.

Just then, a nasty thought went through my mind. I looked at him, gauging the weight of what I was about to do. "I need to get out of here," I finally said.

He knocked on the window, indicating for me to bring it down. I swallowed hard before I did, suddenly nervous. His face came to me clearly then. I turned away and looked straight ahead, suddenly feeling suffocated when he poked his head into the truck.

"I need to go hunting. What exactly do you want?" he asked.

What I wanted? My heart rate increased as I pulled down my hoodie and looked him straight in the face. He seemed to recoil back a little when he saw me, but I wasn't sure if I was seeing straight.

"What I want..." my voice trailed off, but then I gathered the courage to speak again. "You...tonight," I said.

He looked like he had heard a bad joke. His lips parted to say something, but the words didn't come out.

I waited anxiously. My palms had become wet, and I rubbed them roughly on my jeans.

"Huh?" he said finally, but I could see that his eyes had darkened with desire. My throat went dry at just the thought that he was probably a hard rock just below his waist. I lost it.

"Well...I...not my bed exactly, as I don't have one now...I just moved here...I..." I stopped talking when I realized I was spewing out nonsense, and worse, he was enjoying it.

He bent his head slightly to the side, and I couldn't help but feel deja vu. "You're one interesting..." his voice was cut short as a very loud howl was heard just among the trees. My eyes widened in fear.

"What was that just now?" I asked shakily.

He shook his head and sighed out. "I guess we won't be having that steamy night soon after all," he said and was about to leave, but I held back his hand.

"Don't tell me...is that a werewolf?"

"Werewolf or not, it's definitely out there, and if I don't hunt it down, it might have you for dinner. Now stay in the car and don't come out."

From inside the car, I saw the most horrific thing I'd ever experienced. The man began to shift. Cracking bones was heard, and his muscles began to expand, shredding to pieces the clothes he had on. Fur began to cover his skin, and before I knew it, he was standing before me a full Lycan. I moved backwards, but he was out of my sight in a flash.

My head still hurt from where I had hit it earlier. I could feel my heart racing. The world was suddenly spinning. I needed to run. I needed to get out of here. I hadn't been as terrified as I was there in my life.

I pulled the door with every strength I had left. Just then, the door gave way. I stumbled out blindly.

Just then, I saw a shadow lunging forward in my direction. My breath hitched, and I stumbled on the ground with fear.

"No..." Kai's voice boomed, and in a flash, the werewolf was pushed back, away from me. With wide eyes, I watched as the wolf was torn apart, blood spilling everywhere.

One by one, the werewolves were killed before my eyes, by the powerful Lycan...man.

My chest heaved as I sat frozen on the cold ground, my mind racing to keep up with what had just happened. The forest was quiet now, except for the sound of my own shaky breaths and the soft crunch of leaves under his feet as he walked toward me.

The man-no, the thing-wasn't just a dream anymore. He was real, and what he'd just done... it was impossible.

He stood before me, his chest rising and falling as he caught his breath. Moonlight spilled through the trees, and it was then I realized-he was completely naked.

My cheeks flushed as I quickly turned my head away, but not before catching a glimpse of the blood streaked across his arms and chest.

"You left the car," he said sharply, his voice low but laced with anger.

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to look back at him. "You told me to stay in the car, but I..."

"But you didn't," he cut me off, stepping closer. "Do you have any idea how stupid that was?"

His tone made me bristle despite my fear. "Stupid? I thought I was about to die! I wasn't going to just sit there and..."

"You would've been safer in the car!" he snapped, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

I pushed myself up onto my feet, even though my legs felt like jelly. "Who do you think you are, yelling at me like that? I don't even know you!"

He scoffed, his eyes narrowing. "You don't know me?" His voice was bitter, almost mocking. "You're the one who came looking for me."

His words hit like a slap, and I froze. He wasn't wrong. I had come to Raven Hollow because of him, because of the dreams. But I wasn't about to admit that.

"You don't know what you're talking about," I muttered, my voice unsteady.

His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I thought he was going to yell again. But instead, he turned away, muttering something under his breath.

My eyes fell to the blood splattered across the ground where the bodies of the werewolves had been, though now they were gone, leaving only claw marks in the dirt. My stomach twisted. "This... this isn't real," I said quietly, shaking my head. "I made a mistake coming here. I should've never come to Raven Hollow."

His head snapped back toward me, his eyes blazing. "You think?" he said sarcastically, throwing up his hands. "You had no idea what you were walking into, but you came anyway. Now look where you are!"

My temper flared. "I didn't ask for your help, and I sure as hell didn't ask for this!"

He stepped closer, his frustration bubbling over. "You're lucky I was here, or you'd be dead right now. Do you get that? You'd. Be. Dead."

My hands balled into fists at my sides. "Why do you even care?"

"Because I-" He stopped himself, his mouth snapping shut as if he'd said too much.

I stared at him, my anger shifting into confusion. "Because what?" I asked softly.

He didn't answer. Instead, he turned his back to me, his hands on his hips as he let out a frustrated sigh.

I was about to push him further when he suddenly turned back around. "Elaine," he said, his voice quieter now.

I froze, my heart skipping a beat. My name rolled off his tongue like he'd said it a thousand times before.

My breath caught. "How... how do you know my name?"

He didn't reply, his expression unreadable.

My throat tightened as realization began to sink in. "You know me, don't you?" I asked, my voice trembling. "You... you recognize me."

He stared at me, his jaw clenching.

And that was all the answer I needed.

Chapter 3

I sat on the bed, my mind still reeling from everything that had happened. I knew for certain I had gotten myself into something I might not come out of. Across the room sat the man from my dreams. He grudgingly told me his name was Kai. I wanted to question him, but he was wounded and naked.

"Can you put on some clothes, please? I can't believe you drove naked in my truck," I said.

He turned and looked at me, his eyes dark. There was something unreadable in them. "There is no need, since we are going to spend the night together," he said, walking slowly towards me.

I shook my head. "Don't come close to me."

"Then I was only trying to figure out if you were the one I was looking for. And now?" he asked.

He was close to me now. I turned away, my cheeks flushing. "I know who you are. I don't need to..." I stuttered, noticing for the first time that the room was very small, and he took up almost all the space in it.

"And don't you have any questions for me?" he asked, enjoying my disturbed look.

I turned to him then, in spite of myself. "How can I possibly talk to you when you are naked?" I shouted, glaring hard at him.

I had only followed him because I'd been scared, but now I regretted my choice. The one I was supposed to be scared of was Kai-this man.

He moved in closer to me. I watched him with wide eyes as he held my arms and knelt on the bed in front of me. I realized that I was between his thighs. My throat became dry, and I closed my eyes.

His hands came to my hair, stroking it. "You are not the only one who has questions to ask," he said as he touched the place where I'd hit my head on the steering wheel. "But tonight we can't talk." His voice was low, seductive like the devil.

"Elaine," he called. "Open your eyes, love."

I slowly opened them. When I looked at him, I gasped. His eyes were alluring, dark with hunger. He didn't hide the fact that he wanted me.

My mind raced. I wanted to run. This was bondage. Why did I want him so much? He tormented me in my dreams, taking me however he liked. Never had he once come without taking me. Even after an exhausted day, he would come to me. I didn't understand how he stirred so much hunger in me.

He bent slowly and placed a kiss on my lips. It was light and soft. He pulled away and looked at me.

"I never thought I'd see the day," he whispered as he leaned close and kissed my head.

I noticed, as he did so, the pain on my head started to fade.

"Are you healing me?" I asked, an uncanny thing to say.

He didn't answer. He'd already made it clear. There was no room to talk.

He took my lips again, but this time it was all demanding. I tried to meet his face. I gasped, and he had his chance. His tongue came into my mouth, ravishing in the taste. His hands were on my hair, stroking me.

Kai heard a voice screaming in his head. He needed to let me go. He needed to chase me away, but he was consumed and lost in his desire. Soon his beast would take over, and he would haunt me like he feared. There was no control with me.

He'd lost everything once. He was a forbidden being, cursed and forgotten, and I-I was his source.

As he kissed me, it became rough. He pushed me to the bed, coming in between my legs.

I gasped at his sudden roughness. When I looked at him, I couldn't recognize him anymore. His eyes were dark, filled with lust and desire. I'd never seen this part of him, not even in my dreams.

His hands brushed against my top, and in one swift movement he tore it away. I was left naked upwards, except for the lace bra I wore.

His mouth came on my neck, tasting me, kissing me. His hands roamed everywhere. He was too fast, and I couldn't meet his pace. "Kai, please..." My words were lost, as his lips covered mine.

I couldn't resist him. My body ached for him, just as it had done every time. I knew him, and I had always been a slave of his torment.

He drove me to the edge and brought me back, never ever letting me fall. He was wicked, and somehow I loved it. He leaned down and trailed kisses on my stomach, stopping just under my navel. I arched forward, as the hunger consumed me.

"Take me," I cried.

He was the only man that could make me reach the edge, still clothed. It wasn't just the act. It was the sense of something forbidden. It was the dark allure of it. He pushed my trousers down in one fluid movement.

I was shocked at his strength. By the time I knew it, I was naked beneath him.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you," he said, and rammed into me. I gasped at his roughness. Tears stung my eyes as the pain and pleasure washed over me.

This was definitely not a dream. It was too real, too real to be true.

His moves were hard and strong. "Please," I moaned out as he jammed in and out of me. I was lost in his flames, in the heat of his body, and something told me I had just sold my soul to the devil.

As he moved, his hand found my breast and he fondled it, his movement still strong. I was sure that if we were neighbors around that they would have knocked on the door by now because my pleas and moans had reached the top of the roof.

Just as I thought I would go mad in pleasure, he pulled away from me, he bent forward and gave my sex one long lick. It was all I needed. I trembled as I reached the sky. My ecstasy and pleasure threatening to kill me, he jammed into me again, taking me with him, forever to a journey that we would wish had never begun.
