Hell's Obsession

Come on Luna, don't let it go, get it" A small voice screamed soon a giant white wolf was seen chasing a white rabbit.

Of course, the rabbit was no match for the huge wolf. In no time the dead rabbit lay on the floor bleeding

"Good girl." A hand patted its head. And the wolf licked the hand. Her giggle echoed quiet forest.

"Let's get this home" Kali said and Luna let out a howl.

She was what humans called impossible. A half angel and half demon. She was the both of them. Her long straight almost white hair was scattered due to the running. The little dress she wore was already dirty. Her skin was pale white, her bow-shaped lip curved in a smile, her straight nose stood tall in pride, and her unusual blue-grey coloured eyes shone in excitement.

"We're gonna have a great dinner, come along, let's go before any human spots us. Nyx wouldn't like that" Kali said.

She put the dead rabbit into the little sack she held and threw it over her shoulder.

Strolling down the forest, her best and only friend, Luna walked beside her.

Growing up for Kali was so hard, she had no parents and was casted out into the forest.

She grew up fearing and avoiding humans, her only companion was Luna whom she'd raised from a little pup, and Nyx, her guardian.

Nyx had been with her ever since she was a child. She looked like a normal human, unlike her, and could freely move and mingle with humans.

They lived in a hut deep in the forest, away from humans. Kali grew up with the forest as her home. She wasn't able to blend in with humans because of her rather strange appearance. She had unusual silver hair and her eyes. They changed colours depending on her emotions. If she was happy, it'll change to blue, if she was angry, it'll change to red. If she was sad, it'll change to yellow, if she was scared, it'll change to green.

Kali was a young curious girl, she always had a hard time controlling her emotions and Nyx stopped her from nearing the human villages. Nyx was also not a human, she had some magical powers that Kali couldn't explain, but she disguised herself well.

Kali indeed the impossible.

20 years had passed and she stayed in hiding with Nyx who suddenly left a few months ago.

Kali went to the village market most of the time to steal things she needed since she knew they wouldn't give her. She was so fast, that humans only saw blurs, and the next thing, their goods were gone.

This happened for quite something and they reported to the King ruling the kingdom, King Phillip. He suspected that a mystic creature might be the one behind the sudden disappearance of things. The kingdom hasn't come across any mystic creatures over the centuries. Except they had met a little girl twelve years ago with black wings and colour-changing eyes.

Little Kali had wandered off to the human village in curiosity to find out what existed outside of the thick forest. She had been seized and almost burned alive. The humans had panicked seeing a little girl with huge black wings, White hair, and colour-changing eyes. They called her a demon and immediately reported to the Castle.

Luckily Nyx had used her magic to rescue her and scolded her. She had warned her not to wander away or leave the forest. Little Kali after having a near-death experience listened and obeyed with no hesitation.

A search team was formed to comb the forest for the strange girl but she hadn't been found. The search has been going on for four years, twice in every month, men from different families would come together to search.

Kali and the huge white wolf arrived at the hidden hut they called home.

"Go fetch the sticks Luna so we can make fire, I'll skin the rabbit," she said to the wolf and it ran off.

Life wasn't so bad for them.

AT THE PALACE

King Phillip sat on his royal throne. By his right, Queen Adalyn, and by his left Lady Olivia. Those were his first and second wives.

The door to the royal courtroom opened and the two princes were announced; Prince Axel, son of Queen Adalyn, and Prince Theodore, son of Lady Olivia.

"Your Highness!" They both bowed.

"You may rise my sons" came the voice of the king.

"As you know, things have still been disappearing mysteriously and the only reasonable explanation for it is the strange girl we cast into the forest many years ago. The search team has found nothing over the years, this is why I have made a very important decision" He paused and took a deep breath

"I am getting old and I have to hand over the throne to one of you" he looked into the eyes of his two sons.

Theodore, the first and oldest looked into his Father's eyes fearlessly. He stood tall and straight. His green eyes looked straight into his Father's blue one. That was Theodore for you. He was as fearless as his Father was during his youth days. His black long hair was packed into a bun and his face was cold and straight.

Axel, on the other hand, couldn't look his Father in the eye. His gaze was on the floor, studying it like it was something special. Axel was the quiet type. He didn't like anything related to the throne or battle. He wanted a simple life with no complications but instead, he was born a prince.

The king sighed as he stared at his second son. He knew Axel, right from childhood hated things like this but he wasn't given a choice. He is a prince, it is his duty!

"Anyone of you who can put an end to the mysterious disappearance would be crowned as Crown Prince"

At the mention of Crown Prince, Axel raised his head to stare at the old King.

Crown prince?

From the corner of his eyes, he could see Theodore smirking.

"Okay Luna, stay here I'm gonna get the thing we need okay," Kali said to the wolf who barked in return.

"Good and I'm gonna get you a treat too".

She walked towards the village market, at a safe distance where no one could see her.

She ran, She knew she was too fast for a normal human to see her. She got to the first stall and took some new dress and blankets which she'd come to love as a result of its softness.

She also took some food which humans called 'bread'. She took new slippers and some meat for Luna.

All these while, people only saw a blur. People who quickly saw it began to panic. Kali dumped everything she took into her sack and sped off.

"My bread, they're Gone!" A woman exclaimed

"My dresses!"

"My slippers!"

"My meats they're all gone"

"We must end this now, to the forest!" A man yelled holding his Axe.

He marched to the forest followed by a bunch of other men and women holding different weapons.

"Oh no Luna they're coming for us run!" She climbed on the wolf with her sack and it sped off.

They stopped at a river to wash up. Kali changed into one of the dresses she had stolen. It was really beautiful and reached her knee. She wore the slippers which were also stolen and brushed her hair with her hand.

She looked like a normal teenage lady except for the wings on the back.

She brought out the blanket and used it to cover her wings. Luna carried the sack in their mouth as they strolled back to the hut forgetting about the people who were looking for her in the woods. Kali wondered where Nyx was and why she suddenly left without notice.

Nyx was like an older sister to her. She'd always watched her and protected her, She missed her.

Soon, Kali heard heavy stepped marching towards them. She then remembered the angry people looking for her. She began to run until she bumped into someone and fell. She looked up to see a man staring angrily at her. The was the first time she'd ever been close to a human since the incident that happened twelve years ago. She held the blanket tightly to cover her wings.

"What are you doing all alone in the woods young lady!" A tall man snarled.

"You don't look familiar, Where do you live!" Another man said appearing from nowhere. Kali bit her lower lip, panicking.

"Hey, that looks like my stolen blanket!" A woman yelled, gathering the attention of the humans around and they started to gather around her.

"And those slippers too, they're mine!" Another woman yelled and Kali flinched. She wasn't used to people gathering and all the attention on her.

This was the first time she was being yelled at. She was frightened and Luna growled lowly beside her and some of the humans stepped back realizing that a wild animal stood there with them.

She tried not to show any emotion, she didn't want her eyes to change colour in front of all these people.

"Hey, did her eyes just change to green" A woman exclaimed. Her eyes widened. She blinked furiously, green?

Her fear.

"She's a witch!" Another screamed.

"Get my blanket off her!" The woman dragged the blanket covering her black feather-like wings and it sprung up.

"Ahhhhhhhhh" The women screamed and one fainted. The men rushed to them and Kali and Luna took the opportunity to escape.

Kali picked up the sack and blanket and ran away with Luna.

"They're escaping!!"

"Don't let her escape, get them"

Soon, heavy footsteps footsteps followed.

"Come on Luna run faster" Kali exclaimed seeing that she was running faster than the huge wolf. She knew her friend couldn't run any faster so she stopped.

Kali touched the tree beside her, concentrating all her heat on it, soon the tree caught on fire and fell, blocking the way. She looked at the spreading fire in sadness. She hated hurting nature and now she's burned down lots of trees.

She turned and started running away. All her days of training finally paid off.

The women were taken back to their houses. The men after stopping the fire marched to the palace.

"Your Highness" they bowed in front of King Phillip in respect.

"Speak!" The king commanded.

"Your Highness, you were indeed right. We have seen her, the strange girl with wings, she still lives"

"Did you hear what happened brother?" Haisley said sitting beside her brother. He ignored her and continued with what he was drawing. He loved to draw, he found peace in it and luckily for him, he had a special talent.

"The strange girl is alive, some bunch of villagers found her" He paused and turned to look at his little sister. She had blue eyes just like him just that his were deeper and more enchanting. Blue eyes weren't the only thing they had in common, they also had the same brown hair and light skin. They looked like twins and Haisley was a really beautiful princess

"The one with the wings that father told us about? You think she's real" He scoffed. "Haisley, that's just a silly fairytale" he returned to his drawing.

"Fairytale!" She exclaimed dramatically "She's real, they said she even created a fire to burn down trees"

"No human being can 'create' fire.

"That's because she isn't a human being. They say her mother was a fallen angel and her father, a cast demo

"So she's a half demon half angel?" He said sarcastically.

"Yes!"

"How is that even possible Haisley, Angels don't just fall from the sky and demons?.. How would they even make a child" he said frustrated but she just shrugged.

"Theodore is already on it, now that he knows she's real and in the forest. He's searching for her. If he finds her and brings her home, Father is going to announce him as crown prince" She said and he rolled his eyes

"Well, you know it's been Theodore's dream to rule as king ever since he was a child. I'm not surprised. Besides it's his duty as the first son" he said truthfully

"But Dad has given you a chance Axel"

"You of all people should know that I'm not interested in all this King stuff" He huffed standing up.

He had finished drawing. it was a drawing of Haisley. He was secretly drawing her while she was talking.

"What do you think of this" He smirked as she stared at his drawing of her.

"That's beautiful, I'm so pretty" she boasted and Axel rolled his eyes.

"I'm keeping this" She snatched it.

"Thank you" Haisley kissed his cheeks and left the room

Axel shook his head at her childish behavior.

"Your Highness!" A tall man dressed in the royal guard uniform ran to the tall-haired man.

"We found a cave, we can take shelter there."

Theodore, the first prince and rightful heir to the throne of Devon stood under the heavy rainfall in the forest. They had been relentlessly combing the forest for the strange creature. The rain had become too much and heavy for the prince and his men, it made moving around the forest hard as they could barely see anything. It also became a little bit foggy.

"Take us there" came his rough voice and the guard bowed before leading them to the foot of Mount Sinai.

The Cave was dark and quiet, but they could hear little sounds from inside the cave. "Lit a torch" the prince ordered in a small voice and they quickly lit a torch and gave it to him.

He walked into the cave with the torch and his eyes widened.

Kali was walking down the mountain after going on an evening hunt with Luna. Since the incident that happened two days ago with the humans from the market, she had become more wary and scared.

She started living in a cave under the mountain near the forest. It was much deeper and far from the human village compared to where their hut was built. She doubted any normal human would wander this far into the forest.

It started drizzling and Kali sighed. "I wanted to go home today" She pouted. "I don't think we'll make it home in time before the rain starts pouring heavily, we have to go back to the cave." She said to Luna who stared at her blankly.

Theodore held his sword tightly walking slowly towards the Cave putting the torch in front of him while three of his men followed, the rest stood at the entrance of the cave as he had ordered them to.

He peeped into the cave to see a huge white wolf lying on the ground. it looked like it was sleeping and it wasn't alone. A lady was lying on the floor too. Her silver-white hair covered her face as her head rested on a small sack. She looked so peaceful and beautiful as she slept. Her skin was white, her silver-white hair was glittering like she had put something in it. She looked like some sort of angel, she looked too beautiful to be a human and... She had WINGS.

The black feather-like wings on her back spread on the floor of the cave. They were huge and beautiful. Glittering like her hair, they looked so soft and pretty. Theodore was tempted to touch it when reality finally hit him.

This is the strange girl. The girl they had been looking for. The girl who caused things to mysteriously disappear. The key to him being King.

"Your Highness" Jared, his closest guard gasped from behind him as they both stared at the girl with wings. He couldn't believe his eyes, she was real!

"Shut up, you'll wake her. Now give me a bow and arrow" The prince ordered.

He took the bow and arrow and targeted it at the sleeping wolf. Just as planned, the arrow hit its leg and the wolf howled in pain

Kali sprung up at the sound of Luna's loud and pain-filled howl. She studied her environment and stared wide-eyed at the men in their cave.

"Get the wolf now!" Theodore ordered and chains were wrapped around the bleeding animal. They dragged it out of the cave as it howled and tried to break free.

"No... No, let her go" Kali yelled, her eyes turning red. This made the prince widen his eyes and move backwards as the wild anime struggled to get out of their hold. It was being held down by six of his men.

"She can talk" Jared exclaimed in surprise.

"Let her go now!" She said threatening him. She was panicking inwardly, Humans were here, so many humans. They were surrounding her and they looked stronger and more equipped than the mob from the market.

Had they been searching for her?

Her heart was racing, there was no way she could make the cave burn. She could run and escape but Luna would probably die in their hands. And Nyx, she wasn't here to save them.

'what am I going to do? I'm in big trouble' She thought inwardly.

"Come with us and we'll let your dog go," Theodore said coldly unfazed by her weak threat. He could somewhat sense her fear.

"Luna is not a dog!" Kali growled irritated.

How dare these people come to her territory to insult her? Why couldn't they just leave her alone?

She would never hurt any human if only they would try to make peace with her and accept her. She was as harmless as a house rat

"Kill the dog!" Theodore ordered his men and Kali's eyes widened.

"No!, I'll go with you"

She couldn't let them hurt her best friend. She knew she could escape easily from these humans. Her speed was something they wouldn't see coming. If she followed them, they would let Luna go and then she'd escape and probably run deeper into the forest.

Kali sighed, she could never get a break from all this running.

"Chain her!" Theodore ordered with a smirk, this was easier than he thought. They found her on their second day of the search. "oh and release the dog"

Kali was in chains and Luna growled at Theodore and his men with an arrow in its leg, wanting to attack as she bared her teeth.

"Don't worry Luna, I'll be fine" She reassured the wolf as they dragged her away.

Finally, he would get revenge and he would be king. The throne belonged to him alone and not his useless brother. He had worked hard for it, he deserved to be crowned king of Devon

Theodore thought as he stared at the lady seated in the carriage with him. She was chained and blindfolded. Her wings spread in the carriage as his hand moved to touch them.

"Don't even think of it" her cold voice said as he paused to stare at the blindfolded lady, how did she see him?

"Touch it and it's over"

He scoffed. How dare she threaten him! She was in no position to threaten him.

"Axel!" Haisley burst into her brother's room

"Axel!" She yelled again and her brother rolled his eyes.

"When will you learn, a proper princess never yell," Axel said mimicking their Mother.

Haisley rolled her eyes at her brother's words. Axel knew how much she hated acting like a 'proper princess'. Instead of tea parties like most princesses did, Haisley preferred archery and sword fighting which their mother hated.

"I'll just pretend you didn't say that" she growled.

"Fine..fine" Axel raised his hands in surrender.

"But why did you yell my name, dear sister" He gave her a side smile that exposed his dimples. If he weren't her brother, Haisley would've been crushing on Axel

"Haven't you heard the news, Axel?

"What news?"

"I can't believe you're living in this palace. Even the villagers have heard"

"Heard what"

"Theodore has captured the strange girl!"

"What" Axel flinched. "but she's not even real."

"Oh brother she is, she's in the palace dungeon right now"

"She's here?" Axel asked in surprise. How in heaven's name did a half-angel and half-demon exist?

"Yes come with me brother, let's go see her," Haisley said dragging the confused Prince with her. Everyone they came across bowed in respect but they didn't have time to acknowledge their greetings.

They soon arrived at the scary-looking dungeon. "Your Highnesses" the guards station there bowed.

"Move out of the way, we want to see the strange creature," Haisley said.

"I'm sorry your highness but we have been ordered by his highness not to let anyone in," One of the guards said

"His Highness?" Axel furrowed

brows.

"The king, my prince," the guard said

"Theodore must explain this nonsense, come along brother," Haisley said and pulled Axel towards Theodore's room.

"What do you mean they're gonna kill her!" Haisley screamed at Theodore. Axel was still in shock from what he said.

They were going to kill her?

But why?

"Haisley, this is royal business"

"and aren't I royal?" She snarled. She didn't like Theodore. He had always been the proud one of her brothers.

"You'll get to make royal decisions when you become the queen, of another kingdom" he muttered.

"FOR THE LAST TIME THEODORE, Nobody is contesting for the throne with you, we all know you're gonna be king" Haisley gritted and Axel squeezed her hand to calm her down.

Theodore shot Axel a glare and scoffed. "Of course, I'm gonna be king, I mean I brought the she-devil to her knees and I did the impossible" he boasted proudly. Now it was Haisley's turn to scoff.

"You're so dumb, Theo"

"That's crown prince Theodore to you" he interrupted rudely " and you do not have any right to call the future king of Devon dumb"

"Well THEO as the only princess of Devon, I hereby announce Crown Prince Theodore dumb!" She mocked.

"I'm gonna make sure the 'She-devil' survives your evil plan" She stated and stormed out of the room.

"You need to caution your sister" Theodore spat at Axel who had been watching the whole drama in silence.

"She's your sister too" Axel muttered lowly.

"Not from the same mother," Theodore said.

"Are you really going to kill her?" Axel said ignoring his statement

"That She-devil has caused enough harm on this kingdom. She has to go" Theodore stated.

"what harm did she cause, She only stole some things"

"She's a thief!"

"Not all thieves are sentenced to death"

"This conversation is over Axel!" Theodore said.

Axel and Haisley walked into the dark dungeon. They had ordered the guard to let them see the strange girl.

"This place smells horrible" Haisley stated.

"Looks horrible too!"

"That's why it's a dungeon, not a princess room," Axel said.

"There she is, your majesty. Be careful, she's dangerous" The guard said and bowed before walking back to his stationed post.

A girl dressed in a black torn dress was seated on the floor of the dungeon. A huge black feather-like wing spread covering her body like a blanket. Her silver-white hair covered her face and Axel couldn't stop looking at her petty figure.

"She looks so small and young" Haisley gasped.

"She looks your age" Axel states his gaze not leaving the lady.

At the sound of strange voices, Kali's eyes snapped open. "She's awake!" Haisley noticed.

Axel stared at the frightened girl. She looked ...... Beautiful. She kept moving back slowly away from the humans.

"Aren't demons supposed to look hideous? She looks so...... Beautiful"

Haisley wasn't lying. The strange girl with wings looked pretty even as she was dressed in rags.

"Probably the angel blood in her that's making her so pretty" Axel mumbled.

"Thought you don't believe in them" Nicole teased.

Her eyes change from blue-grey to green in fear.

Kali was frightened. Who were these people?

Were they here to hurt her?

"Did her eyes just change it's colours?" Haisley gasp.

"Please..... Please don't hurt me, I'm sorry please let me go" Kali said desperately. She couldn't believe she slept off, she must have been exhausted from threatening and trying to scare the humans which didn't work. They had dumped her in this cold dark room with iron bars that looked like it was underground.

She had even tried to create fire, but she couldn't understand her powers. Nothing worked, and Kali was frustrated.

Since her powers and threats didn't work, she resorted to a plan B. Acting and pleading, maybe they'd have mercy and let her go. She just needed one person to help her escape, then she could go to Luna. Probably run as far away from this Kingdom as possible.

Axel was surprised at how innocent she looked and sounded.

Is this the same girl they said to have caused harm to Devon?

Is this the same girl tagged to be dangerous?

"Please let me go..... Luna must be in pain. She was shot, I have to go to her" She tried her best to act all teary and sorry. Luna was strong, she was sure one arrow on her leg wouldn't bring her down. At least till she got to her.

"Who is Luna?" Haisley question. Axel stared at his sister in amusement. She looked so comfortable talking to the 'She-devil'.

"She's dying" Kali whispered her eyes widening. She had a connection with the wolf, she could feel it. Something had happened to Luna. She had to get out of there as fast as she could.

"I can feel it, She'll die if I don't get to her on time. Please, she's the only family I have" She said miserably.

"We can't do anything, can't you use your powers or something to get out of here," Haisley said.

"Powers? I don't have any powers. Is that why I'm here? You want my powers?"

"You're here 'cause my brother wants to kill you," she said casually.

"Haisley!" Axel exclaimed.

"You want to kill me?" Her innocent eyes widened as she stared at Axel. These humans wanted to get rid of her. And she didn't even do anything. Her eyes were shining green as her face was morphed in fear.

"Oh no not him, Theo," Haisley said.

"I don't have time for this!" Kali yelled suddenly losing her patience as her eyes went from green to red. something told her something terrible had happened to Luna. She needed to get to her.

"Well that's freaky" Haisley exclaimed seeing her eyes change colors again.

"Let me go human!" Her voice echoed in the dungeon.

Luna was dying, she could feel it. She heard her howl in pain as her blood began to boil. These humans were keeping her from her best friend.

Kali glared at the iron gates keeping her in the small dark room. Her eyes were shining red.

"What's happening to her?' Haisley whispered.

The iron gates started...... Melting?

"Good heavens are.. are the gate melting" Haisley exclaimed.

"Haisley, we have to go," Axel said moving away from the girl with shining red.

Soon, the gates of the cell melted as both the prince and princess stared in shock. Kali stepped out, her anger replaced by worry. Luna was dying with every second passing by.

She ran past the two royalties, both unable to do anything but stare. She got to the exit of the dungeon and met two guards there. All her fear had turned into anger. The two guards suddenly fell asleep. Kali, herself was surprised but she didn't have time to think about it as she started running. She didn't know anywhere in the palace. The whole building itself looked strange to her.

It was gigantic compared to the little hut she lived in with Nyx and Luna.

To her surprise, everyone she came across fell and started sleeping. It was like she was some kind of sleeping drug to whoever she came across but all she could think of was LUNA as she made her way to the forest
