Chapter 1 Mending a

It was Ten minutes to six the day he lost the world. Along a busy road leading to the capital, a boy ran after a girl.

"Its over! Leave me alone!" The girl screamed capturing the attention of the passer-bys.

"Please give me a second chance. I love you Abi." A tall slim boy pleaded. His body looked fragile as he kneed with sheds of tears building in his black eyes. Ever since he fell for her, he had done all he could to keep her satisfied, but it seemed only the wealthiest could keep a girl like her.

"Leave me alone!" The girl yelled as she hopped in a taxi.

"Let it be bro. She will come back to you if she really is meant for you." A group of witnesses sympathised.

His heart felt like it had broke in half and a coldness swept over his chest making his breathing slow and difficult.

"Go away!" He yells pushing his way past the crowd and dashing away towards Celebs Pub opposite the road.

He didn't care about the traffic as he just walked casually across the road. This almost got him hit as a car came screaching and slightly knocking him forward before the driver got out to shout curses at him. Of course he felt nothing and heard nothing. He just walked without realising the commotion he had just build.

He wished to die. He was all but empty deep inside. She was his only family and she left with fake reasons.

Entering the crowded Celebs, he saw his friend Eric hurrying over to him but he didn't wave back, instead he went straight to the counter.

"Man, lets go home." Eric stood beside his broken pal. He had spend 4 hours trying to make the now dull drunkard come to sense.

"Lets go. There are plenty of beauties all over the world. Just leave her. She's not even on your league!"

The barmaid didn't dare sell more beer to this young man and instead joined Eric in consolation.

By the time they left, it was a quater to midnight.

'I can still get the service from these women, they are also beautiful.' Bryan thought in his mind as he looked at the semi naked ladies advertising their sweet bodies.

"Hi." He approached one of them who was build like a pear. This made the slim woman next to sudden grab his hand and let him touch her body.

"I will let you touch me for free handsome, And charge you just 200 Kes for each tour."

"Wow. She was cheaper."

"Let's get going!" Erick pulled Bryan away as the lady who was now as ever ready to do anything felt wrong.

"Who are you to decide for him! Or you want to give him the pleasure too?" The woman shouted as Bryan was helplessly dragged away. He was already drunk.

The nights of Capita City was ever busy, day or night.

"Let go of me!" Bryan screamed as Erick spoke through his phone.

"I've sent the petite to you sir." He spoke calmly into the phone. "You have not yet rewarded me."

His voice was cold as he talked on his phone while pulling Bryan along at the same time.

"I swear I will leave you alone now!" Erick was about to get fed up with his friend now.

"Who are you talking to? Eeeh and the petite girl you have gifted someone? Eeeh I've heard everything!"

"Is nothing let's go." Erick ignored Bryan as he offered him a bottle he had pocketed. "Take a sip." He smiled as he continued talking on the phone.

4 months later

Chapter 2 Unfading memories.

"Kiss me babe."

"Ummmn"

A house was build on a hill. An ocean of mango trees and oranges covered the hill and whispered to the walls of the house as a cold breeze swept through. On the east was an arbour of roses and lilacs filling in pattern. There was an opened window on the west side facing the slope. Mosquitos buzzed outside the mosquito net furiously. In the dawn light, mist rose in the meadows. The sun shone with golden streaks somewhere invisible to the eye, and the day light fell into a room through the open window, upon a naked boy in the bed.

"Yes like that bab*...umm "

"Abi?..."

A silence prevailed as two bodies clinged to each other. The night's warmth was was still in the cringled sheets. They had been soo close together kissing each other. The bed was warm and they were rosy.

"Yes?" A sweet voice answers passionately while fondling the opposite.

"Do you want more."

"And you ask?" Abi thought before replying. "I want you babe. I love you too."

A hand pulls his head up and a pair of soft sweet lips pressed on his.

The sheets unwrapped around his waist and with the slight movements he made, it dropped to the floor.

A sweet fragnance floated in the room. He pursed his lips, a smile was visible.

He was hard and tempted. The forbidden fruit was already unplucked. He ate with desire written all over his face. A moan escaped her lips as he neared a climax, but suddenly a man in a black tuxedo entered the room shouting.

"Abi! How dare you! You are mine!"

The man's face was masked in red. He moved so swift leaving a blackish blur and caught Abi.

He wanted to yell but his voice was stuck. He tried to move his limbs but realised his whole body was locked from him. He could only watch as his woman was dragged away shouting for help.

"No! No!" He wanted to scream and attack this anonymous person but couldn't. He could only watch. Soon he was alone but another pressure fell upon him. He felt coldness all over his body. Like a soft cold breathe from a monster sniffing all over his naked body.

He screamed!

"Bryan! Bryan?" He woke up to the voice of his grandma calling him. She had rushed upstairs after hearing the scream. Fortunately he had locked himself in his room before sleeping the night before, his grandma would have got shocked.

"Yes?" He shouted out immediately since grandma won't keep away but try to break-in. He dressed himself hurriedly into his blue pajamas all the while replying his grandma.

"I'm ok. Just a bad dream grandma."

"Ok. Open the door dear." Grandma requests as she waited patiently. The door crinked before the handle turned and Bryan's drowsy head peeked with a smile.

"You room is so messy, you left the window open! You should shut the window before dusk." His grandma advised him.

"And tuck the net under the matress to keep off any crawling insect too..look! This a mosquito." She slams her palm on the wall at the head of the bed. Bryan just watched silently. He didn't want to urgue or talk back at his grandma.

-He was deep in thoughts.

For three months he had been wet dreaming with his X Abigail, but everytime something odd would happen at the end. It felt real at times.

"Are you not listening to me?" His grandma asked as she studied him. "You still thinking about that girl? Right?"

"Ah nanny! Noo!" Bryan refused to admit.

"Then what's the problem?" His grandma asked.

"I've still not got a job. You see? That's what troubles me."

"Ah only that? The problem is that you growing old. I want to see my grand-daughter in-law."

"Ah." Bryan almost clicked. He would never get his grandma out of it.

"Why do I keep dreaming about her?"

"Why did she leave?"

This was all rhetoric.

Chapter 3 Abducted.

3 months ago he had moved in to live with his grandma in the country side. After his parents death in an accident, years ago, Grandma was actually the only person closest to him.

"Grandma. Today I'm leaving to Dagoretti, I might be late. I will request uncle Yumaa to come over while am gone." Bryan spoke calmly.

Uncle Yumaa was the neighbour dowN hill whom he had employed to look after his grandma when he had to leave for town to run errands.

"Ok my lovely grandson. Let me make some tea before you leave." Grandma held tight her walking stick as she lifted herself from the seat she had just taken.

"No, please let me. I got enough time and i'm not in that hurry." Bryan knowing well his grandma's behaviour, had to kindly turn down her request and add that he was not actually in a hurry.

Walking his grandma down to the living room and switching on the tv, he busied himself in the kitchen. He was still thinking about Abi when his cell phone started vibrating. Someone was making a call this early? He wondered who.

"Hello Bryan." A husky voice came through. He hesitated before replying.

"Who is this please?" He had a bad feeling. With all the unerasable memories of his first love, he felt incompeletely secure.

"I got your number from my niece's phone, Abigail. I just want a talk with you. Can we meet?" The person was straight to his point but yet he left no clue as to why he wanted to meet him. He didn't even give his name. This was creepy.

"I'm busy today. Whats your name?" Bryan unapologetically replies.

"Call me Marcos. I need answers from you. My niece was abducted!"

"What!" Bryan exclaims startling the assimulated grandma watching The Nation Talk programme on tv.

His mind raced for a moment he didn't answer grandma who was demanding to know 'what's up' from the room next to the kitchen.

"Are you in the Capital?" Marcos asked the shocked man on the other end.

After some seconds, Bryan just replied casually, "I cant make it today, maybe some other day." He didn't want to get involved especially after being ditched ruthlessly by the latter.

"I'm sorry Marcos... Later...we can talk another day ...bye." He hang up immediately ignoring what Marcos was going to say. He didn't give a damn about the issue.

"Breakfast is ready granny." He walked in with a tray. The Nation Talk this morning was about the crisis affecting businessmen. Every morning grandma woke up to watch the Nation Talk, it was her favorite time. Not wanting to disturb her as she smiled and praised his great cooking skills. He sat next to her and sipped his tea bored.

As the programme came to an end, grandma turned to scold him for not inviting her for tea. She lamented that the tea was already cold.

What did I do wrong now? He wondered as he poured hot tea from the flask into a new cup and offered her. She was unpredictable.

👻

Bryan would never hold hatred against his lovely granny, instead he smiled and told her to drink before it turned cold again.

*****

After breakfast they just sat back and began talking. Granny was narrating her story again. How she met Bryan's grandpa and how one day Bryans father got beaten after running away with his girl friend [Bryan's mother] in their high school times. These stories had been the talk over and over and the topic was not interesting.

Not wanting to listen to more of it, as he was used to the same story, he stood up and cleared the table.

After washing the dishes, he came back to excuse himself.

"Let me take a shower. I need to leave now." He said as he strode towards the stairs.

"Remember to come back with her, Angel city is full of beauties." Grandma reminded him before he walked upstairs to change.

"I want to see my grand daughter in-law." She told herself before going out too to sit in the arbour outside the house. The environment was more friendly there and she loved the garden, her garden.

Her mind was in a world of fantasy. She had guessed right, her grandson was in love and soon he will bring his mate home. She smiled at the romantic images flashing in her mind. She prayed that her grandson would get the best. Bryans home coming had revitalised this part of grannys boredom. She missed her husband too.
