This is my first Cellphone novel (CPN). A CPN for those who might not be aware is a work that has short chapters ranging from 50-200 words (thought most tend to be 70-100).
I plan to update this story every friday (in the past it was everyday but I couldn't keep this up).
The original idea for this story came from a dream that I had recently (1/20/2017) :).
I hope that you enjoy this new kind of work I'm trying out. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the tale- Sun
PS: I tend to call my author notes 'Solar Notes' so if you see another part with that in its name, that's what it is :3.
"Are you sure that this is the right thing to do?" the woman asked her husband as she stared at the ritual taking place.
Her oldest daughter was covered in colorful beaded necklaces from head to toe.
"Yes, it is, " the man performing the ritual responded.
He kept his sky-blue eyes on his daughter who was simply looking at him in confusion, unaware of what was going on around her.
"Papa, what are you doing?" the daughter asked, her large brown eyes glancing up at him.
The man smiled brightly as the beads glowed in the colors of the rainbow.
The girl shielded her eyes from the radiant light.
"Don't worry, " the father responded as he copied her. "This is for you own good and that of the world. One day, you'll be glad that I did this. Now, Olivia. Look, everything is fine now."
Olivia did as ordered.
She glance across the playroom littered with stuff animals and toy blocks.
"Is it over?"
Her father nodded, keeping his eyes closed.
"Yes, everything is fine."
The woman grabbed the man's hand to help him up and to navigate him across his now dark world.
I was only a little girl.
Yet, I knew that something wasn't right.
My father, he wouldn't open his eyes.
Mother and I would help him navigate.
It all started on the when I had my powers sealed.
Had father sacrificed something in return?
In return of sealing my powers?
One day I asked him.
Yet, he changed the topic.
He was hiding something.
What I don't understand is why he did it.
Why did he feel the need to seal me?
To seal my powers?
I could no longer cast magic like I once could.
I hated it.
But most of all...
I hated that papa couldn't see.
Were my powers that scary?
What if the seal were undone?
Would he suddenly regain the ability to see?
"Olivia, " Papa called out.
I looked up.
His eyes were still shut.
"We're here, " he continued.
In front of me was a tall white building.
The silver spire of the building reached out toward the heavens.
The blue sky which Father could never hope to see.
I got out of the car and made my way to the school gate.
I hugged my parents and siblings.
My baby brother sniffled, rubbing his eyes.
His eyes were the same color as my father's.
"I'll be back during the holidays, " I stated, patting his head.
With that, I walked past the gate.
Hoping to unseal my powers.
