Chapter 1 Prologue

Ann sat alone in their living room, the wall clock ticking away the minutes that stretched into forever. She had spent hours waiting for Theo, and as time went on, her worry grew. There was an almost tangible tension in the home due to the silence, which seemed to intensify her concern.

Ann's patience ran out as the sun dropped below the horizon, throwing long shadows across the room. Whenever she had phoned Theo's phone number, voicemail would always answer. She thought through all the worst-case scenarios, and a knot of fear tightened in her chest.

The sound of the front door creaking open broke the silence like a dagger, just as she was about to give in to panic and contact the police. Ann shot to her feet, her gaze fixed on Theo's standing at the doorway, and her heart shot into her throat.

Theo walks through the door with a heavy sigh, his shoulders sagged and his face worn with defeat. Ann looks up with concern as she sees him enter.

"Babe you are home late I have been worried sick, is everything okay? "

Theo stumbles onto the couch after dropping his suitcase on the floor and runs his fingers through his hair. "No, I just lost my job, so everything is not okay.

Ann's shocked eyes widened, "What happened?

"They claimed to be cutting staff, so they had to lay me off. Am sorry I disappointed us all.

"But you don't deserve this, you have been working for this company for years now, you deserve more, why would they lay you off? That's odd.

"Are you questioning me, Ann? He asked angrily.

Ann gives a shake of her head and reaches out to bring Theo's chin up to meet her eyes. Theo, am sorry for asking such a question I didn't mean to offend you and you didn't disappoint anyone. Your value is not defined by your job loss. We'll work together to overcome this.

Theo leans into Ann's arms, comforted by her words, and his eyes sparkle with unshed tears.

Ann, I don't know what I would do without you. Ann puts more pressure on him and kisses him on the forehead. Theo, you'll never have to ask. Remember we're a team.

Theo nods, his face buried in Ann's shoulder as he expresses gratitude for her steadfast support during his difficult period. A tiny smile tugs at the corners of his mouth.

Chapter 2 The Encounter

Ann:

My heart was racing as I stood in the lavish ballroom, taking in the sea of well-groomed guests. My plain black dress stood out against the elegant gowns and fitted suits that surrounded me, making me feel uncomfortable among the wealthy socialites and prosperous business people. I took a deep breath and told myself why I was at this place. I had the opportunity to present my artwork to prospective buyers and collectors at this art event as a struggling artist. It was my chance to establish a reputation for myself in the competitive world of art. But I started to lose confidence as I made my way through the crowd. My mind began to chatter with doubts, suggesting that I didn't belong here and that my artwork wasn't good enough. Reminding myself of the many hours I had spent painting, as well as the love and emotion I had put into each brushstroke, I tried to get over the feeling. My drink spilt when I ran into someone while lost in my thoughts. I looked up to see who I had collided with and murmured, "I'm so sorry," my cheeks flamed with shame. A man unlike any I had ever seen stood in front of me. He was tall and immaculately dressed in a fitted suit, and he gave out a sophisticated, self-assured vibe that was at once seductive and frightening.

"No harm done, his voice was silky and smooth, "It's quite alright," he said grinning charmingly.

My heartbeat quickened as I observed his attractive features, including the smooth fall of his dark hair across his forehead. There was something about him that drew me in that defied rationality, a magnetic pull I could not understand.

"Hello, I'm Alex," he introduced himself.

"Ann," I answered, extending my hand to shake his.

Alex-

Without a doubt, she was the most stunning woman present. Her brown hair with blonde highlights was pulled up into a bun, and her captivating blue eyes with gold flecks that appeared to dance in them complemented her figure perfectly. I was taken by Ann's beautiful smile and the genuine depth and sincerity with which she spoke. Her grin was warm, and her straight, pointed nose went nicely with their oval jaw.

During their conversation, Ann was enthralled with Alex's charm and charisma. His questions concerning her creative process and sources of inspiration revealed a real interest in her art. They were deep in discussion, covering everything from life and love to art and culture before she even realised they were absorbed in each other's company. The world appeared to disappear behind them, as though they were the only two individuals in the space. Ann found it impossible to ignore their obvious chemistry as the evening went on. She felt an instinctive pull towards Alex that she had never felt before, one that sent thrills down her spine. She sensed disaster when he bent down to whisper something in her ear while his warm breath touched her skin. She didn't care though, at that time. It was all she wanted to lose herself in the heat and passion of the night, to ignore the outer world and give in to the allure of want. Ann felt a twinge of excitement in her heart as she took Alex's hand and let him guide her out of the crowd, knowing that whatever came next would alter her life irrevocably. As Ann followed Alex through the dimly illuminated hallways of the opulent hotel, the cool night air caressed her skin. Her mind was a tornado of contradictory feelings, and her heart was thumping with excitement. When they walked into the luxurious suite, Ann's mouth dropped at the stunning vista of the cityscape that met her eyes. A warm glow from soft candlelight permeated the room, complementing the luxurious furnishings and décor. With want in his eyes, Alex drew closer to her and looked directly into hers. Without saying anything, he reached out and softly caressed her cheek's curve, giving her a thrill that made her heart accelerate. All uncertainties and anxieties vanished at that instant, to be replaced by an intense sense of want. Ann was drawn to Alex like a moth to a flame and could not help but feel his magnetic pull. As their lips met in a searing kiss, a fierce storm of passion enveloped them both. Time froze as they gave in to the alluring beat of want, their bodies moving in perfect harmony. They were so absorbed in each other that it seemed like forever. When they eventually crashed onto the plush bed, entangled in each other's embrace, Ann's senses were overwhelmed by Alex's strong perfume and the warmth of his skin against hers, and she felt herself surrendering to his spell with each touch and caress. It seemed as though they were two parts of a whole, meant to be in this blissful state of abandonment together. Alex wondered what was ahead for them as they lay together following their passionate encounter. Would this evening only serve as a passing thought, a melancholy flashback of what might have been? Or was it the start of something more, something genuine and lovely? For now, the promise of tomorrow and the warmth of Ann's arms were all that mattered. Only time will tell. And when Ann dozed off while nestled in his arms, she realised that she would always treasure this evening, no matter what happened.

Ann wakes up slowly, her eyes fluttering open to the gentle morning light coming in through the transparent drapes of the luxurious hotel room. She is enveloped in comfort by the velvety bedding, which seems like a cloud underneath her. Stretching lazily, she enjoys the feel of satin sheets across her body. She sits up, and her surroundings in the room focus. Wide windows let in an abundance of natural light while providing a panoramic view of the urban skyline at dawn. Everything about the lavish furnishings, from the elaborately carved wooden furniture that graces the space to the elaborate chandelier hanging overhead, exudes elegance. With a steaming cup of coffee and a platter of fresh fruits and pastries, Ann's eyes wander to the bedside table. She could get used to this lifestyle. And then a knock came in. She got up to open the door and a handsome-looking young man standing at the door.

"Good morning ms" Mr. Alex requested me to get you; he's waiting for you downstairs, he said.

Alright, I'll be with you shortly. She replied and turned inside to pack her stuff, she packed everything right away and followed him downstairs.

Last night was beautiful. "Good morning, gorgeous," he whispered, kissing her hand.

"Good morning Alex. She greeted.

I'm sorry, but I have to leave now; I have an important meeting to attend. My driver will drop you off, he said, flashing an endearing smile and looking even dapper than the previous night. With that, he left. Ann just stood there reminiscing on what had transpired between them the previous evening.

Chapter 3 A Twist of Fate

Narrator-

As the sun began to set on the bustling city of London, Ann found herself lost in her emotions. As she sat at the window, the room was softly shadowed by the morning light. With the recollection of his touch still fresh in her mind, her fingertips traced the delicate outline of her lips. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee blended with the lingering scent of his cologne.

While the outside world was a flare-up with activity, Ann was deep in meditation, her thoughts straying to the private moments she had spent with Alex. She could still feel the energy sparking between them with every touch, and the warmth of his arms. She found herself reliving their conversation, every word seared in her mind. The way his gaze had swept across hers, How his genuine and contagious laughter filled the room. But there was uncertainty mixed in with the residual traces of love and desire. A persistent doubt murmured in the back of her mind, wondering if this was a passing phase or something more.

Ann became lost in her thoughts and her eyes kept going back to the window, where the outside world appeared to blend into a dark background. However, she silently promised herself at that very moment to treasure every memory, every glance that was taken, and every promise that was whispered for as long as it stayed in her heart. immediately she waved off the thought. In an attempt to distract herself, Ann threw herself into work. She had loved painting since she was a child, drawing new paintings had always been her refuge, a safe route where she could escape from the complexities of her own life. Soon she set out to work letting her feelings down on her canvas. She found herself drawing Alex the man from the night before, soon the painting was ready, and she smiled and complemented it. He was indeed the most handsome gentleman she had ever met.

Later that night the weirdest thing happened. As I was finally taken over by sleep, I found myself slipping into a dream.

"I found myself standing in a large ballroom, dressed in an elegant silk dress, I looked around until I saw him, Alex, standing at a distance looking more dashing than ever. As he approached me, my heart pounded in my chest, his eyes were sparkling with warmth and kindness. "Hey, Ann he said in the sweetest masculine voice. My cheeks flushed pink as I tried to find the words to respond.

"Hi Alex, we both stood there for a moment staring into each other's eyes. And then he took a step forward closing the space between us. I held my breath, he leaned in further, and I could feel every beat of his heart, and then he bent to kiss me.

I quickly sat up with a loud gasp, my body bathed in sweat, my heart thrumming in my chest. I blew out a puff of air from my mouth and gulped as my heart continued beating at the first race. Now I was seeing him in my dreams, and as if that wasn't embarrassing enough it had to be the man I had one night encounter with.

In the other part of the bustling city of London, amidst towering high rises and the steady murmur of trade, stood a smooth and cutting-edge office building. Interior, on one of the upper floors, was the space of Alex Bennett, the CEO of Bennett Enterprises.

As the lift entryways slid open with a delicate ping, uncovering a passage lined with glass-panelled workplaces, all eyes turned towards the figure striding intentionally down the passage. Alex Bennett, clad in a very white clean, crisp shirt with an unfastened suit coat that complemented his tall, masculine body. His hair was well shaved and combed in place, His eyes a dark shade of brown. As he entered the hallway he drew the attention of his employees.

His office exists in the modern class, with gloated floor-to-ceiling windows that advertise all-encompassing sees of the city horizon. Behind a smooth glass work area, Alex sat, his expression composed however uncertain as he checked on a stack of archives with a laser-like centre.

The room murmured with proficiency, the delicate hum of computers mixing with the quiet sounds of ringing phones and tapping consoles. However, amid the controlled chaos, Alex remained a figure of calm amid the storm, a man adapted to exploring the complexities of corporate life with practised ease.

As he looked up from his work, his puncturing dim eyes appeared to require everything at once, lost no detail as they cleared over the room. His look was profound, an indication of steel underneath the surface, that cleared out no question as to his impressive notoriety within the trading world.

Alex-

As I sat down in my office, my mind wandered to her, that was the best sex of my life, the best night of my life, I miss her being in my arms I can still remember her smell, she smelled like an orchestra of flower notes and intriguing flavours, appeared to move around her like a shroud, weaving a tantalizing spell that captivated all who caught it's fragrance. But I even forgot to get her contact. Who was this girl? where was she from, at that moment I knew what I was going to do? With a new sense of purpose, I stood up I was going to look for her, I wanted to have possession of her, I wanted to kiss her again, nothing would stop me from getting her in my bed again I knew that it wouldn't be fair to her, especially since I left in a hurry the morning after, but for now, I just wanted to catch her off guard and claim her pouty lips with my own. Lost in my thoughts Sarah my assistant walked in with a lady.

"Good day sir you have a visitor". Looking up my eyes met hers, and my heart fell just as my jaw did, I blinked my eyes twice, maybe they were deceiving me, and there she was standing before me the same woman at the Art gala, the same woman I couldn't get my mind off, the memories of that fateful night came flooding back to me in an instant.

With her hands trembling uncomfortably in her lap, Ann is seated across from Alex at his table. Ignorant of the shocking revelation Ann is about to deliver, Alex sips his coffee." Alex, I have something really important I have to tell you." with a solemn expression, Alex puts down his cup.

"Ann, what's it? You appear uncomfortable."

Taking a deep breath, Ann prepares herself for the impending news. "I'm...., I'm pregnant."
