HIS SECOND LIFE (Protecting her at all cost)

At night, amidst the freezing blowing breeze, King Yohan is seen running with his three-year-old son, Zayn to the royal inn, behind him is Queen Tiffany who is in shambles as she watches her son battle for his dear life.

Prince Zayn was talking to his older brother, Crown Prince Raymon before passing out. The loud thump sound alerted the royal guards who were securing the prince's room and they in turn were sent by the King and Queen.

"Help my son, don't let him die" Queen Tiffany kept saying as she was running barefoot.

As soon as they arrived at the inn, the guards were kept outside as only the royal family was let inside. The furrowed brows of the royal physician worried Queen Tiffany a lot while King Yohan could only act strong and pray for Zayn's recovery.

The royal physician kept putting a lot of things on Zayn's body, but nothing seemed to be working out fine. The doctor finally left the room hurriedly to get something.

" Yohan, what's going to happen to our son?" Tiffany asked worriedly.

"Our son is royalty, he is Prince Zayn Lancaster, he will survive, " King Yohan said, trying to convince Tiffany and himself. But as soon as the doctor came back to the room, whatever hope they had for Zayn's survival vanished.

The royal physician came in with the life lantern of Zayn which was already dim and on the verge of going off completely.

In the Kingdom of Daichi, every royal born and warrior had a life lantern. The life lantern would keep burning as an indication that a particular person is still alive. In the palace, there's a special room where all life lanterns are kept for easy access but unfortunately for Zayn, as he battled with his life, his lantern kept going dim which meant that he was about to die.

As the royal physician came closer to Zayn, the worse happened. Zayn's life lantern suddenly went off and immediately Zayn's body became cold.

"No! No!! No!!!" Queen Tiffany screamed as she saw the life lantern of Zayn finally went dark and his body became still.

"Zayn! My baby! Wake up! Mummy is here" Queen Tiffany said with tears in her eyes as she was violently shaking Zayn on his deathbed.

King Yohan stood with tears in his eyes as well, Zayn was the replica of him, he loved that lad so much and his heart was broken as he saw his child lying in silence without breathing

"My Queen, you have to be strong," the royal physician said before trying to wrap Zayn with a white cloth.

"Don't you dare!!" Queen Tiffany angrily said as she held the physician's hand before turning to King Yohan.

"Don't you just stand there and do nothing, Yohan!" Tiffany said bitterly. "Our son just died, do something!!" " You are the king of Daichi, the strongest of the dark descendants, save your son!!" Tiffany yelled at Yohan.

Yohan was in pain as well after all Zayn was also his child but there was nothing he could do to revive his son and he felt angry with himself.

" Tiffany, Zayn is gone, he's gone, " Yohan said, hugging Queen Tiffany but she pushed him away before aggressively picking up Zayn from his deathbed and hugging him tightly, sobbing loudly.

**St. Patrick Hospital, Mega City.

"Push, push!! The baby's head is near already, push harder ma'am" the delivery nurse said.

"Hang in there my love " Mr Nathan McLoy encouraged his wife who was in labor.

"Arrgh,ahhh!!!" Mrs Beatrice McLoy screamed before pushing with her final strength.

" Congratulations Mr and Mrs McLoy, it's a girl," the nurse holding the baby said to the couple.

" Can I hold her?" Beatrice asked

"Sure," the nurse said before handing the baby over to her.

"She's finally here, Nat, " Beatrice said, crying gently. "Our miracle baby is here" she added before sobbing loudly.

Nathan McLoy could only smile with genuine happiness, after eight years of waiting to have a child of his own, he finally got his child.

"Please hand the baby over while we clean her up," the nurse said before leaving the room with baby McLoy.

A few minutes later, Mrs McLoy was moved to a regular room where she could entertain visitors. Her baby girl was also brought to her.

"Kylie, " Beatrice said softly before smiling with joy. "My daughter's name is Kylie McLoy," she said loudly this time, and immediately the baby cried before opening her tiny hands that were closed for a while.

Baby Kylie opened her hands and suddenly started emitting light to the surprise of those in the room before it quickly disappeared.

Beatrice and Nathan opened their mouth wide at the sight of it

"Kylie??" Beatrice said, touching her baby.

**Back to the Royal Hospital at Daichi

As soon as Kylie was born, Zayn's life lantern started emitting little light and his cold body started to turn warm.

"Zayn!? Zayn!!?" Queen Tiffany screamed as she felt Zayn move against her body. "He is awake, he has come back to life," Tiffany said crying and smiling before looking at both the royal physician and Yohan

"Give him to me!" The royal physician said as he laid Zayn to bed and examined him again. King Yohan went closer to Zayn, his little boy was struggling to open his eyes.

" L..l..look" Queen Tiffany stuttered as she pointed in a direction after gaining the attention of the royal physician and Yohan.

"This is impossible!" The royal physician exclaimed as he saw the life lantern of Zayn come up, shining brightly.

"Is he alive?" King Yohan asked hopefully.

"Well...." The royal physician's word was cut short as they all heard a tiny voice talk.

" Dad!Mom!" Zayn uttered weakly.

"Zayn!!" Both Tiffany and Yohan said together as they rushed to hold his hands feeling grateful.

Just then the royal physician called the king and queen outside the room.

"Look here," the physician said. Yohan and Tiffany looked at the crystal ball and they saw Beatrice with a baby girl.

"What's this?" Queen Tiffany asked, confused.

"This baby here is the reason why Zayn is alive now," the physician said. "According to the crystal ball, Zayn's life is linked with a natural human girl, as long as the girl is safe, Zayn stays alive otherwise.... He dies" the physician said

"What??" Queen Tiffany and King Yohan exclaimed in shock.

Queen Tiffany kept staring at the fragile human her son's life was connected to, she was grateful for the child's existence which paved the way for a second chance for Zayn. She looked at her husband, King Yohan who seemed to understand what she had in mind.

"Reed! Reed!!" King Yohan summoned a young, well-muscled, good-looking, agile man with slightly red eyes and a bright smile.

"Yes, your royalty," Reed answered.

"I want you to personally protect the baby in here" Yohan ordered. "Protect her the same way, you would protect Raymon and Zayn, not a single scratch is meant to be on her body" he added. "Am I clear?" He said loudly.

"Yes, your royalty "Reed nodded before leaving to carry out his duty.

**St. Patrick Hospital, Mega City

In ward 6a, Beatrice is seen resting on the bed, beside her is baby Kylie who was peacefully sleeping until a dark presence was sensed in the room. Baby Kylie was the first to react to the dark presence as she started crying, her cry alerted Beatrice who found it difficult to move as the dark presence was heavy in the room.

"Who is there?" Beatrice asked with a shaking voice. "Wh..wh.. who's it?" She asked again, extremely frightened as she grabbed the crying Kylie out of her crib and hugged her tightly.

Reed, who was the dark presence had no intention of scaring them, he only came for his mission, little did he know that humans would be so scared of the presence of a demon.

"What the hell is Reed doing?" Queen Tiffany yelled before throwing her wine glass to the wall.

"Calm down, I'm sure ..." King Yohan said before he was interrupted.

"Did you just tell me to calm down?" Queen Tiffany asked while tightly holding King Yohan's sleeve.

"I only have my son back because of that baby, Yohan and Reed want us to lose her due to his negligence, " Tiffany said bitterly.

King Yohan could tolerate everything but not Tiffany in tears, he loved her with every breath of his.

"Come back right now!" King Yohan telepathically summoned Reed.

** Back to the hospital

"Oh goodness! I'm in for some serious scolding" Reed swore inwardly before leaving the hospital.

As soon as Reed left the room, and his dark presence couldn't be felt anymore, Kylie stopped crying and Beatrice staggered as she tried to run away from the room. She crawled to the door with Kylie in her hands as she was breathing heavily. Beatrice struggled to turn the door nub open with her shaking hands just then the door was opened by Nathan.

"My love, what's happening here?" Nathan asked as he bent down to pacify the scared-looking Beatrice who tightly held onto him.

"N...Nathan, there's someone in here". Beatrice stammered while looking everywhere in fear.

"There's no one here my love," Nathan said utterly confused.

"You have to believe me, there was someone here, he had a dark presence, I could feel it," Beatrice said, shivering.

"Do you mean a de...." Nathan's mouth was covered with Beatrice's sweaty hands as she kept shaking her head violently.

"Okay, hush, hush" Nathan tried calming her down.

"What if they're here to hurt our baby because of what we did to their kind" Beatrice whispered before sobbing loudly.

"No one is here to hurt us," Nathan said. "It's been ages and we have been safe my love" he added " "Besides we did our job and we did it for the benefit of all humans," he said encouraging Beatrice. "No one can ever harm us, especially not them". Nathan sounded positive with a stern face.

Nathan went over to ask the doctor to prepare the discharge documents for his family while he went to get the necessary tools they'd need if the dark presence showed up again. While driving home, both Nathan and Beatrice were lost in their thoughts.

*Flashback

A dark snowy Tuesday

"It's over there! Run after it" Beatrice yelled after sighting a demon.

Nathan and Jane chased the demon before slewing it.

"Argh!" Jane exclaimed as the demon's blood splashed on her face.

"Just what on earth are these creatures?" Nathan asked both Beatrice and Jane.

"Well, we'll find out when we get it to the headquarters, " Beatrice replied before the three of them took the demon's body to the trunk of the truck.

**At the headquarters

" Congratulations on your victory, squad 3 warriors, '' Don Ian said to the trio in front of him.

"Thank you, sir!" Beatrice, Nathan, and Jane, the squad 3 warriors replied.

"After a thorough examination, we've concluded that the weird creature roaming around the city is a demon and we have decided to declare a state of emergency, any place a demon is sighted, it must be killed immediately"Don Ian commanded.

"Sir, yes sir!!" The trio said before leaving Don Ian.

"Damn it! Just when I thought I was finally free from such insane missions, this demon thing came up" Jane said exhaustedly before roughly kicking a bottle lying around.

"Tch, tch, tch, that's why we are the squad 3 warriors of the Council of Human (CH), we are given the most difficult task to finish. Nathan reasoned.

"Enough with the talk, let's get to work and kick some ass" Beatrice smirked before holding both of them at the shoulder.

Beatrice, Nathan, Jane, and many humans were working as squad warriors for the Council of Humans (CH). The human world was in danger as supernatural beings, with terrifying looks kept feasting on them. The Council of Humans (CH)was formed by rich and highly concerned citizens to protect humans.

The humans who got selected as squad warriors would undergo a series of training before being given the badge of an emblem in gold circle (CH). Their mission was to get rid of anything that could threaten the peace of humans from the face of the earth.

Beatrice, Nathan, and Jane grew from Squad Warriors 1 to Squad Warriors 3 making them the strongest humans to battle with a superhuman and still return alive.

Baby Kylie's cry jolted Beatrice back to reality as she turned from her seat to pacify her baby.

"I swear on the oath of the Council, I won't let any harm come to you both, I will protect you with my life even if it means killing all those demons" Nathan swore inwardly before zooming off with high speed.

Blue Shield Crescent ( McLoy family residence)

"You and Kylie should get some rest, I'd take care of the rest," Nathan said as he opened the door.

"I know what you're up to my love, I'd keep Kylie in her crib and then join you," Beatrice said smiling lightly at Nathan.

"Okay, see you at the garage" Nathan replied as he kissed Beatrice quickly on the lips before leaving.

As soon as Nathan left for the garage, Beatrice gracefully walked into the living room with mixed feelings.

The apartment held so many memories, both the good and the ugly ones. This place was where she lived after the heartless demons murdered her parents and left her half-dead for God knows who.

"This apartment has been my haven and I won't let anyone take it from me," Beatrice said with a serious face before leaving the room to help Nathan.

Beatrice and Nathan got all the weapons they used in fighting supernatural beings.

" I guess we would be making good use of it from now on," Beatrice murmured.

" Uhm..my love," Nathan said with a low tone that got Beatrice's heart pounding, it sounded like Nathan wanted to say something serious." I was thinking we should enroll Kylie in the warriors' nursery, so she would learn the basics.. you know just in case". He said with a shrug.

Beatrice was silent for a while before responding. " I think that would be best for her," she said with a smile before leaning in to hug Nathan. " "We will get through this as a family" she whispered.

"Yes! We will " Nathan whispered back while nodding his head.

**Five years later

Beatrice was woken up by the light kisses and pressure Nathan was showering her with.

"My love, wake up or you'll be late," he said.

"Argh! Five minutes more please" Beatrice weakly murmured before tightly holding up to the pillows.

Nathan couldn't help but chuckle at his wife's cute behavior. He felt so blessed the past five years had been peaceful. There was no news about supernatural beings, Beatrice was happy and Kylie was growing, what more could he ever pray for?

Nathan got up from the bed before heading to the tiny door in their room. As soon as he opened it, he was welcomed by the little figure standing on her bed.

" Good morning Daddy," Kylie greeted.

"Morning my little princess, how was your night?" Nathan asked as he carried Kylie and hugged her, earning a giggle from her.

" Fine daddy, where is mummy?" Kylie asked. It was a tradition for both Nathan and Beatrice to always greet her first before starting the day's work. Today felt strange so Kylie wiggled free from Nathan's hands before running to her mom's bed.

" Mom! Mom!!" Kylie said, using her little hands to shake Beatrice's lap.

"Yes, my baby," Beatrice said before squeezing Kylie for a tight hug.

As Nathan joined them in bed for a group bear hug, the alarm rang loudly.

"Oh goodness!!" Beatrice exclaimed, slightly hitting her hand on her head which made both Nathan and Kylie chuckle. Beatrice was acting like a child.

*7:30 am that same day

"Honey, Kyle!! Hurry, we wouldn't want to be late on our princess first day at school" Nathan said

Kylie McLoy, fondly called Kyle by her parents, was starting kindergarten class at the Council of Humans (CH). Kylie never acted as a child, she was smarter for a child of five years but her parents still wanted her to grow within her roots as a supernatural being hunter.

"Well we are here now," Beatrice said as she came down the stairs with Kylie beaming smiles at Nathan.

"Phew, finally! Let's get into the car" Nathan said with a soft laugh.

The drive to the school was a short and happy one and finally, the McLoy's arrived at Hartley's School which was founded by the Council of Humans to raise future supernatural being hunters for world peace.

"Welcome masters" the school gatekeeper bowed his head while greeting Nathan and Beatrice. He had to accord them that respect because they were the strongest supernatural hunters.

"Oh, please, Billy! Don't flatter us" Beatrice said, smiling lightly. "Just address us as the McLoy couple, we are here as ordinary parents as well" she added

"Alright ma'am, sir, and our little..." Billy was interrupted by the soothing voice he heard.

"Kylie, my name is Kylie McLoy, Kyle for short," Kylie said to Billy with a smile before the family went to the school.

Beatrice was proud, when she first stepped foot in Hartley's, she was broken, vengeful, and full of anger but her little angel was here without those feelings, she squeezed Nathan's hands before heading to the administration office.

Everyone at school seemed to like Kylie, this made Beatrice and Nathan at ease. Their daughter was finally getting a new family...

Kylie had her uniform fitted before proceeding to her classroom where she met Miss Swiss and her classmates, especially some mean-looking girls that sat at the right corner, Diane, Rossett, and Vera.

Kylie was paired with Vera, who sat behind Diane and Rossett. Even as kids, Diane and Rossett emitted a mean aura and they also stared at Kylie with cold eyes.

"Hi, I'm Vera," Vera said, smiling at Kylie.

"I'm..." Kylie was interrupted.

"Kylie McLoy, " Vera said, chuckling, "I heard you during the class presentation.

Kylie didn't know why but she felt at peace around Vera. She and Vera spoke at length and even teamed up during coloring class, she knew she would never be alone as long as she was with Vera.

Though only Diane and Rossett gave a mean aura, all her classmates, especially Vera, seemed nice.

**Daichi kingdom

"Isn't she so cute?" Queen Tiffany said while looking at Kylie through the crystal ball, but ...she sharply turned around to face Yohan. "Who would watch over her since Reed is not so competent" she added with a worried face.

"I will!!"
