There was a family, not just any family but the strongest and most feared family in the Mafia world: The Jenkins family. Jason Jenkins and his wife Lily had a son named James. He was an only child. With James being the only child, when he gets older he would have to take over his father's position as Mafia king of the Jenkins family. Lily and Jason were so happy together. Lily never wanted to be a part of the Mafia world but didn't have a choice.

Lily knows about the consequences if she tried to leave because Jason had enemies that wanted him gone and if Lily were to leave with James they would both be in danger and Jason couldn't protect them. Lily made peace with that and lived happily with her little family.

Today was Jason's birthday, and Lily wanted to surprise him with another pregnancy she had known about for weeks. James already knew about it and was happy to have a baby sister. But Jason didn't come home until late that night drunk and smelled like sex, which the evidence was on him to prove he was cheating. Lily packed her things and asked James to pack his things too. Lily couldn't stay in the same house with Jason after what he did.

"Baby, please don't go, I'm sorry it won't happen again."

Lily looked at James and told him to wait outside for her. James did just that. Lily turned to Jason and slapped him in the face. Jason rubbed his cheek because it stung from the impact.

"I'm leaving, and I'm not coming back. I wanted to surprise you with a baby girl, but you can't even be faithful to me. Enough is enough, I'm taking James with me, and you can rot in hell."

Jason grabbed Lily's wrist so hard that he left a handprint on her wrist where he grabbed her.

"Let go of me, Jason, you're hurting me."

Jason finally let go of Lily's wrist and Lily l ran to the car, where James waited patiently for his mother. Jason ran after Lily. But she was already in the car.

"Lily, who's going to protect you and our son, you know if you leave my enemies will use both of you to get to me."

Lily knew Jason was right, but she had enough of the cheating and James didn't need to be around that. Lily moved back to West Virginia with people she knew would help her with James and protect them from Jason's enemies.

"Jason, I have family and friends that are Mafia that will protect me and James from your enemies."

Lily started the car and drove away. Lily thought Jason changed, but he didn't. While driving to West Virginia, James noticed that his mother was bleeding.

"Mom, you're bleeding."

Lily looks down to see what James is talking about, and that's when she knew she had to go to the hospital to ensure the baby was okay. Lily finally made it to the hospital, and they confirmed she was having a miscarriage. After finding out Lily lost her baby, she shut down, leaving James to fend for himself. But James never left his mother's side. When Lily and James made it to West Virginia, they went to a house that Lily grew up in and stayed there.

Lily got a job and James is now in high school. Lily is working at a restaurant doing waitressing. But one night, Lily pulled a double shift and something didn't feel right. She was being followed. Lily hurried to finish her shift and make it home safely.

After some years, Lily was diagnosed with breast cancer, stage 4. Lily had beaten it before, but now she was tired of fighting. James started working to help his mom to live longer because he wasn't really to let her go. Lily is all he had as a parent. One day, James got a call from the hospital while he was at work, it wasn't good because James dropped to his knees crying because of the news he had gotten about his mom. After Lily passed away, James went back to his father and became the person his mother never wanted him to be. Jason was remarried to Bethany and had a son named Nick, who hated James with a passion. Nick tried everything he could to destroy James, but it never worked.

POV JESSIE

My name is Jessie Jenkins, I'm 23 years old, and this is my story. I recently graduated from college. I'm trying to live an ordinary life. I live with my mom in New Jersey. My mom's name is Hope Jenkins. My dad, we don't know where he is. We don't know if he's alive or not. My dad's name is James Jenkins. I have a personality that is sassy, confident, and loving. I trusted only a few friends with my life and when I needed to be protected. Dean Mathews, my childhood best friend, was always there when I needed someone to talk to or hang out with. When we first met in high school, I had the biggest crush on Dean and still do.

I have seen Dean in the same college as me. That's when my harmless crush turned into something more. I fell in love with Dean. Dean was the team captain for the football team in college and a straight A's student. Dean had to drop out of college because his father was brutally murdered in cold blood. Dean, the oldest in his family, had to take over leadership as soon as possible. Dean didn't want this life because he always wanted to live without fear or someone always after him, and he wanted a life with me. I always wondered what happened to him. I always hoped he was safe, and we would meet again soon.

My mother and I have been running since my father disappeared. I only have one parent. My father has a stepbrother who's been in love with my mother since college. My mother didn't like him like that. Now Nick is out for blood because he heard about our family. Nick will not stop for nothing once he gets what he wants. My father kept secrets from me to keep me safe. I don't know what he was keeping from me. I have a gut feeling it was for a good reason now that I'm of age. I have a bad feeling something bad is coming my way. Danger is coming for me, and I don't know why or will I be safe anywhere.

I want to know the truth, but I'm afraid of the outcome. Why I'm in so much danger? I guess sooner or later I will find out. I wish my dad were here to tell me what was going on. Why am I and my Mom on the run from some guy named Nick? I have so many questions but very little answers. I guess I wait for the time being to get my answers, for now I just want to spend as much time with my friends and family as life is too short to live in fear and what-ifs. I'm enjoying my time while I'm alive.

"Dean, wake up, we have work to do," David said.

I slowly started to get up and get dressed. I have been busy trying to find James Jenkins, my old friend that trained me for this mafia life. He was a good trainer until his parents passed away 3 years ago, he took it hard.

"Anyone found James Jenkins yet?" I asked

"No, he's good at hiding off the grid," Josh said.

"I know but hopefully we find him before it's too late," I said.

"What's going on anyways that we have to find him?" Josh asked.

"His brother is back and he's not going to leave until he gets what he wants," I said

"Yeah, why are we looking for him anyway?" josh asked

"I thought we were on good terms with him?" David asked.

"His wife and daughter are in danger. Do we know the place he stayed at?" I said.

"A hotel not too far from the hospital. David said. Let's go check there first." I said.

We made our way to the cars and made our way to the hotel that he stayed at.

"Hi ma'am, I'm looking for a friend of mine," I said.

"Okay, what's his name and I look him up for you?" the lady asked.

"Thank you, ma'am, his name is James Jenkins," I said.

"Okay, sir. He's in the top VIP section." the lady said.

"Okay thank you, ma'am," I said.

We made our way to his room when we heard yelling

"LEAVE MY DAUGHTER AND WIFE ALONE OR I SWEAR BROTHER OR NOT I WILL KILL YOU NICK!!" James yelled.

"MY DEAR BROTHER YOU'RE TOO LATE THE PRINCESS IS IN THE HOSPITAL AND YOUR WIFE IS ALL ALONE WITH HER DYING DAUGHTER," Nick said.

I knocked on the door and I heard him say who it was.

"Dean matches."

"Dean, it's been a long time. How have you been?" James asked.

"I'm doing well. James, your daughter is in danger. We were sent to find you, James, by your wife." I said.

"What happened?" James asked.

"Your wife and daughter work at a club that I own, and we don't know how but your brother Nick found them and raped and beat Jessy near death," I said.

"Take me to my wife and daughter. I have to see them and make sure they're safe." James said.

"Yes sir," I said

We made our way to the hospital. "Ma'am, we are here for Jessy Jenkins. I'm her fiancé and this is her father and brother's." I said.

"Okay room 260," the nurse said.

"Thank you, ma'am," I said

"Fiancé huh?" James said.

"I'm not going to lie, I'm in love with Jessy. I just didn't want to admit to it." I said.

"Dean just doesn't hurt her; she's been through enough. I didn't want them involved with this world. That's why I live two different lives, but I never cheated on my wife." James said.

"I know James and I will do my best to make sure she's safe even when I'm not here," I said.

"You're a good man Dean. Let's go see my girls." James said.

I knock on the door light because we don't know if Jessy is awake from the coma yet. No answer so I opened the door a little to see if Hope was still there. She was asleep next to Jessy holding her for dear life. I walked up to the bedside and said

"Hope" Lighty.

"She woke up and said, "hi dean did you find my husband?" Hope asked

"Yes, ma'am he is waiting for you. Tell him to come in." Hope said.

"Okay James you can go in, but full warning Jessy doesn't look like herself. She's hooked on a lot of machines" I said.

"Okay, thanks for the heads up," James said.

I got a phone call from Italy to find out my brother was kidnapped, and I needed to leave within 6 months tops. I don't like the feeling of this now my brother has been taken I just have to spend time with Jessy and when I come back, I hope she forgives me for leaving.

I love Jessy with all my heart. I promise baby I will come back to you. I'm not looking forward to leaving Jessy because James's panties are in the bunch. Jessy is a grown woman that knows what she wants and that's me. Why does James have to do this? We are friends and now trying to make enemies with me.

I'm not scared of James; I'm scared for Jessy because when I leave nobody else can protect her as I do. I don't want her to fall into dangerous hands. James doesn't realize he put a target on Hope's and Jessy's heads James doesn't think as I do. I wouldn't put my daughter in harm's way, but he would just keep me away from her.

The man has gone crazy. I need to know if Jessy will be okay and when I get back, we can get married and live our lives without all the drama that comes with the Mafia. Now we can live a quiet life until something happens again. God knows we need this break from the Mafia world to live normal for once even though we're not normal people.

"Dean, you can go home now. I can take care of my wife and daughter now." James said

"I go home when Jessy is discharged and what the hell is wrong with you getting my brother kidnapped for dating Jessy?" I said

"You will get my family killed because I let you date Jessy," James said

"Nick already wants to kill her because she turned him down," James said

"I don't have a problem with you dating Jessy. I'm just trying to keep her away from the Mafia world. She's not made for this world." James said

"If you let me help you, I can protect her as well my brother, but you got him kidnapped for no reason, James," I said

"All I need is for you to stay away until I call you for help Dean," James said

"I can't do that James I promise to protect her no matter what happens to me or her," I said

Then I walked away from James to the bed where Jessy lay.
