THE PARKERS
John Parker was a multimillion known for his numerous business tags across the country and overseas. He had great influence whatsoever and runs majority of his companies both in America and Russia, just to say a few.
With his ivory neutral undertone skin which coupled his almond, hazel eyes and ebony black hair; he became every ladies dream guy. Foregoing all this, he fell in love with Jane Leo, the daughter of his father's childhood friend. They grew together and became friends due to their parents' bonding.
Just as simple as Jane was, her beauty was unpeckable. Her golden skin, uniquely matched up her monolid, baby blue eyes– spotlessly drawing out her beauty. And just like, John; Jane had her spot which she comfortably shone in.
Apart from her beauty, she was the C.E.O of her own restaurants with one in America and the other in California.
John and Jane finally settled down after two years courting and a year later had a beautiful daughter, named Miriam Parker. She was just the combination of the two if it comes to beauty– her close set, emerald eyes, perfectly fit her heart shaped face.
***** MONDAY ********
It was a regular Monday morning in the Parkers' mansion, the day was still young with it's heavenly weather. The fluffy white clouds, yet clearing off the skies, making way for the sunshine, the sweet aura of the morning dew coupled with its fragrance, gave serenity to the environment.
Although the Parkers were wealthy enough to get all the maids they ever wanted, yet, Jane wasn't one who fancy a bunch of such. With just, Berla, Miriam's nanny, she carried on her chores perfectly just the eloquent woman she was.
As she got busy with the family's breakfast, a quick steady taps from the stairs occasionally caught her attention– the sweet aroma of the sandwich, erupted the bare corridors. Turning half way to the door as she still went on her chores, Jane echoed.
"Is that you, love....over here, breakfast is ready."
Taking a stand a step apart, he sighed; he looked quite in hast for reasons unknown to her. John instinctively clasped his hands and flexed them for awhile, before giving her a broad smile which was as startling as it was refreshing.
"Sorry honey.." He exuded. "I'm really running late for the meeting.....I'll be off now, will sure make it up to you when I get back, huh?"
He pleaded, showering hugs and kisses, to make up for his excuse. A smile spontaneously played at the corners of her lips.
"Okay, agreed but always have it in mind.... I love and will always love you. " She hugged him and as she redrew, added. "Take care out there."
He nodded, wearing a broad smile. "Okay, mum.." He teased and they both chuckled. "I'm off now, bye."
He kissed a goodbye and hurried out. Jane cheerfully watched his back fade out of sight before returning back to her chores. John quickly got into his black jeep on getting to the garage and carefully drove it out.
Watching out of the glass window which brought bare the whole compound, Jane stared, watching the tail of his car disappear in the distance. She briefly smiled, turning her now full attention back to what she was doing.
Just then, the absence of the kids hit her. "Oh, are they still in bed?" She stuttered before calling at Berla who responded from the backyard.
"Please get the kids down for me.....Leon would be late for his first day at High school and Miriam had to rush to the University for her check ins. " She ordered and Berla quickly hurried up without hesitation.
Jane and John, after Miriam's birth with a five years interval, had a son, Leon Parker; who was just a carbon-copy of his father. Their family was just a happy one which most of their neighbours always talk about and look up to for their family goals.
Miriam's room was the second among the flights of rooms, lined up along the corridors before Leon's.
The colourful paint of the designed wall, coupled with it's neatly arranged books on their shelves; always made her room one to behold– everything seem to be at their perfect place.
As the sun peeked it's rays through the glass window– facing the comfy bed seated at the right side of the large room, Miriam groaned softly; following the hazing sting that burned against her skin.
She spontaneously turned to the opposite side– facing the alarm clock in the process as she pulled the blanket over her head and buried herself back to sleep.
Just then, a tap on the door invaded the silence in the room. For the first instant, Miriam glanced up at the door, her eyes still drowsy with sleep and not ready to hop off bed anytime soon.
Ignoring the knock, she grumbled and buried her head back into the pillow but the persistent knock wouldn't let her.
"Miriam.... Miriam" A voice followed. "It's already morning and I bet you don't want to be late for your university entrance ". Berla echoed. Miriam spontaneously shot out of bed.
" Oh,no....Oh..no, the university– How can I forget" She cried, all the sleep instinctively varnishing from her eyes, as she threw the blanket onto the bed and dashed off towards the bathroom.
"Why didn't you wake me up... What about Leon?– I believe he's still waiting for me since I promised to drop him on his first day at high school" Her voice howled from the washroom just when Berla stepped into the room to get her clothes which needed to be ironed.
Berla chuckled. "He's still in bed– I'll go get him, right from here." She said and Miriam instinctively appeared at the door–her hair, all soapy.
"What ?.... you don't say!" She exclaimed. A sinister smile spontaneously displayed on her face.
" No need to bother, Nanny, I'll go get him myself. " With that, she stormed out of the room. Berla gazed at her back and smiled.
"Oh, this kids–" She laughed, shaking her head in the process as she picked the clothes and sauntered out as well.

Stepping into the room which was quite messy with a few clothes displayed here and there, Miriam inched over to the bed where Leon laid fast asleep. With a smile, she spontaneously picked up a pillow and smacked Leon's head with it.
" Hey, sleepy head.... you don't want to be late for your first day at high school– do you? " She laughed, of which Leon jerked out of bed alarmed.
" What time is it?" He asked, the moment he sprung out of bed.
"7:30am " Miriam answered, a smile dancing on her face.
" Hell no... you should have woke me up earlier– wanted to rehearse on how I'll speak before the Principal " Leon lamented from the washroom and she laughed.
" No need to worry, I'll gist you on all you need to know on our way, okay?"
"Great, I'll be out in a bit" He exuded and Miriam nodded with an okay.
"Going to get ready now – See you in a while. " She said and without waiting for an answer, rushed back to her room.
PARKERS' GROUP OF COMPANY
After an hour and half drive through the busy streets and the tedious early morning traffic, John's car finally made it way into the company's premises. Just when he pulled up; packing at his usual position, he drew out his suit from the back seat and laced it over his white long sleeve– of which he majestically made his way into the building.
On entry, every staff present cheerfully welcomed him with a bright smile. It was almost like the entry of the President at a ceremony with Jerry Wood, the accountant and lover boy of the company– who was known for his looks on the left and Clara Peters, the IT technician who handles all the programming at the company.
Nina Mills, John's personal secretary finally greeted from the right, taking his briefcase. Nina had worked for the Parkers for twenty years after joining the company and had since earned the C.E.O's pet position due to her loyalty, courageous attitude, hardworking and humility which topped it all.
She usually joined John on all his meetings and conferences held both on the premises of the company and outside the country. Which one day, finally landed them a top secret which was to exist between only the two of them– the secret of a child, Gina Mills. She was just two years younger than Miriam, John's first child.
FLASHBACK
January 10th, 2005
Nina on her usual basis, was going through John's schedules for the week when a call came in through the company's line, line. Turning to the phone, she picked up, supporting it with her shoulder as she answered.
"Hello, PARKERS GROUP OF COMPANY; Nina Mills on the line– How may I help you, sir" She called.
" A conference is to be held in two weeks in Spain, of which your company is chosen to represent the WORLDWIDE BEST RUNNING PRIVATE COOPERATION " A male voice announced over the phone.
"Well noted, sir– we'll be present on the set date; thank you" She said with a broad smile which revealed her beautiful dimples. With that said, the line went dead.
Nina pined it with the rest of the schedules and dashed of towards John's office with the filed documents; her every step, leaving a soft echo through the corridors as she approached the flights of offices.
JOHN'S OFFICE
With his eyes fixed on a pile of documents in front of him, John instinctively gazed up at the door following a knock which invaded the silence.
"Yes...you may come in" He said, returning his gaze to the documents. Nina gently pushed the door, revealing her hourglass shape as she stepped in with her catwalk.
"Good morning, Sir "
"Good morning, Nina– Hope you're good; any problem?... Did I left any documents unsigned?" He answered, waving her to a sofa seated over the glass window.
With a smile, Nina answered. "No, Sir – I'm just in to inform you on your schedule update and the new development in the company's schedule " She stated, taking her seat. John instinctively leaned back in his chair as she went on.
"Well, a message just came in on our nomination to present at the WORLDWIDE BEST RUNNING PRIVATE COOPERATION, which is to take place in two weeks, in Spain. According to the caller, the details would be sent through our e-mail soon."
" Alright.." He exhaled with a smile. "That's good news I guess." John mumbled.
With a beep sound, John noticed a mail on his laptop. "I think it's in" He announced with a faint smile of which Nina stared at him expectantly as he scanned through his device.
There was a brief moment of silence as he went through the mail. Looking up after awhile, he stated as he met her fixed gaze.
" All is set now– every data and info needed is right here. We'll be leaving together for the conference in two weeks from now , hence, I'll like you to take a week off to prepare for that."
Nina politely nodded with a bright smile. "Okay sir... thank you so much for trusting me as always. I'll do my possible best for a top score at the conference " She pledged and John chuckled.
"You deserve it and I know you'll do just great." He said and Nina gave a slight bow, full of smiles.
"Thanks once again–I'll like to take my leave now" She went on. " Got a few more things to tackle before breaking for the week."
"Sure, you can....See you ." He answered and Nina excused herself out of the office.
********
A week later, the day for the conference finally arrived. Nina met John at the airport as planned; with their reservations already made, they both hurried on board– their flight soon took off thereafter.
With the five hours, 20 minutes flight from New York to California; John and Nina's flight finally landed on the lands of California. It was already past 8pm and they needed to check into their hotel which was a 15minutes drive from the airport.
The car soon pulled up on the huge compound of HOTEL DE ROY– It's bright lights explored the beautifully designed and well kept surrounding. It was the most classic and well known hotel which topped all for their great service and serene environment. Due to it's closeness to the airport, most executive arrivals mostly lodge in for their short stay.
On arriving at the reception, the young chestnut lady greeted them with a warm and welcoming smile to which they smiled back.
"Hello, good evening, Sir..... welcome to HOTEL DE ROY ; at your service." She shortly stated. John nodded with a response and pressed on.
" Two rooms, please. "
"Um, sorry sir, we're all booked – We've only got just a room left. " She answered.
"Oh, great." He cried, his exhausted figure, completely spelt out his displeasure. "Is there no other hotel close by?" He asked on an impulse.
"There is but takes an hour and half to get there." Nina answered of which the look on his face clearly objected to.
"I guess we got to manage this for now since we won't be staying for long."
With that said, the receptionist instinctively grabbed the key and huddled ahead.
"This way, please...." She said and they both followed her, with a gentleman who tailed with their luggage right behind them.
A few minutes after they had settled in, John returned from the washroom– refreshened and smartly dressed in his long white sleeves, coupled with a black coat and trousers. On noticing him, Nina announced.
"The meeting is in 30minutes, Sir and we ought to arrive at the venue, 10minutes before time." John glanced at her and smiled.
"Sure, I believe we're all set now... shall we?" He asked and Nina nodded, taking the lead as she grabbed a set of file and a tablet PC from the desk opposite the bed.
Soon, they had already hit the road again to the venue. Arriving 10minutes earlier as planned, an usher warmly welcomed them at the entrance to their designated seats.
With a few greetings here and there, the conference kick started. There were a lot of dignitaries and well known business tycoons representing as well. By the end of the conference, PARKERS' GROUP OF COMPANY, emerged as the most outstanding international group– winning a lot more contracts in the process.
John and Nina were overwhelmed with joy, considering the outcome.
" Nina, this calls for a celebration.... " He had told her, the moment their car pulled out of the venue.
"Yes.... it really does." She affirmed.
Right on alighting at the hotel, they strolled over to the casino with chats and laughter. Celebrating over few alcohols of which they exceeded their limitations. Too drunk with joy and alcohol, they huddled back to their room.
With their emotions beyond their control, they barged into the room, cuddling and kissing each other. John gently pressed Nina on the bed but then, he stopped; straightening himself as he got off but Nina wouldn't let go. She pulled him in , threading her fingers through his hair as he brought his face down to hers.
He kissed her again, delicately, mouth lingering against hers with all the gentleness he possessed – And one thing lead to another, leading to the unexpected.
It was already morning when Nina's eyes flickered open with the touch of sun rays which hit her through the plan curtains. She spontaneously winced as she got off bed but then, realized she was naked. Out of shock, she screamed, waking John in the process.
"What...What's wrong?" He sprung out of his sleep, tensed. "Why the scream – did you see a ghost or had a nightmare" He queried; yet not noticed what had happened.
As if her tongue was glued in her mouth, Nina remained silent, the feeling of embarrassment washed over her as silent tears trekked down her eyes.
Just then, John's nakedness hit him. Ashamed of his deeds, he neared her to console but then, a blood stain on the sheet caught his attention – Nina was a virgin, he had whispered to himself. Filled with guilt, he pleaded for forgiveness of which she objected, saying they were both at fault but then, they promised to keep it just between the two; not to let a third person know.
THREE MONTHS LATER
After they had both returned from the trip, everything returned back to normal as it was before they had left– both the boss and secretary relation and all, burying the act behind their backs.
Not until, Nina realized she was already three months pregnant. Not ready to be a destructor of a good and happy family like the Parkers, Nina agreed with John to keep it a secret of which he'll still cater for the child without neglecting both of them.
Since then, it remained a top secret even though Gina Mills is already 19years now and getting prepared for her second year in the University.
Although she had everything she ever needed, Gina never got to meet his father in person, convinced by Nina that her father died in an accident when she was just a year old.
