Chapter 1 The Prince's Desire

"My Lord, what you are asking me to do can not be done, it is impossible and unthinkable of me to do as you say my lord, " said the royal physician, his heart having missed a beat.

"Who dares refuse what I command? Kindler, are you this disrespectful?" A furious male voice thundered, the one who uttered these words wasn't facing Kindler. Kindler was standing behind him.

The one known as Kindler calmly said,"Not that my lord, it is so because my king trusts me with his whole life and has done good for me and my household, I would be a traitor to my king, my lord if I did as you ask."

On hearing this he veered around facing Kindler, he had black, shoulder-length hair which slightly revealed an angry face; thin beard with neatly trimmed sides. In his neck was a golden medallion, he wore a brown leather armour and had five golden rings on his right hand and three on his left.

Whatever he was; he was a powerful person because he was called lord.

"How dare you to praise my brother in my presence," The one called Lord shouted out of anger.

Kindler got scared.

"You mumble 'my king has done good for me and my household' now you listen to me Mister Kindler."

He stopped after hearing the huge large doors being opened, someone was coming, he was 5 feet tall and had the type of beard which traced the jawline and was paired with a moustache.

"Tell me, Darek," he said.

Standing straight and picking his nails, he said, "Prince Edric--

Immediately, horizontal wrinkles appeared on his forehead; his eyebrows raised; and his eyes widened, "since when Darek?" the one called prince Edric yelled.

"Ah, my lord, no, not my lord, your majesty," Darek let out, kneeling on the ground and lowering his head.

"Well done Darek, rise and go on," Prince Edric ordered.

"Yes, what the majesty asked has been done, " he said.

"Great, '' Prince Edric said, "Mister Kindler, I guess you live with someone, she might be pretty old, possibly in her 80's but you still love her, right?"

"What are you implying?" Kindler asked, troubled, with his fists clenched.

"You understood what I meant, Martin Kindler, " Prince Edric said as he came near him.

" Am, your majesty, why not stop beating around the bush because I think this Kindler will never understand," Darek said to prince Edric.

"Kindler, you are the one providing medication to my brother, I want him to get out of the picture immediately," he said without hesitation.

Great Lovaria was a kingdom that ruled up to 20 provinces, it was a great kingdom throughout generations, this is why it was called Great Lovaria up to now, and the palace was stationed in the Varian territory which according to the arrangement was the fifth territory.

"I ask for forgiveness my lord, but what my lord the prince is asking for is beyond my power," the royal physician said," My lord I vowed to cure; to provide medication to all; to the bigwigs and commoners, not the opposite of this."

Taking out his two-edged sword from the scabbard and placing it on Kindler's neck, he shouted, "How dare you oppose me twice? I can finish you right away."

"Do as you please, prince Edric, how good it would be if I died for the sake of doing the right thing," the physician let out courageously.

"No, taking your life can not and will not solve any of my problems," he said, "Perhaps your grandmother's life will!"

For some time, Martin Kindler, the physician, stood shocked and didn't say anything in response.

"Lord Edric, I'm confused, how does his grandmother's life solve this for you?" Darek, Edric's close and loyal servant whispered.

"You ungrateful son of the devil, don't dare lay a finger on my grandmother, if you do so you'll see what I can--

" Do? Kindler, tell me, what can you do to me? If you can't even kill a fly; you can not even approach my brother to let him know anything and if you did, do you think that he would believe you? Kindler, compared to me you are nothing, "Prince Edric said as he moved back to his chair, he continued, "It is up to you to decide, you have two choices, one is to do as I said earlier; two is to do the opposite and face the music."

"My lord, tears are filling in his eyes, do you think he has a problem?" Darek asked, staring at Martin Kindler.

"Emotions I guess, who in the world cares?" Prince Edric questioned, "Kindler I do not have much time."

"Fine, I will do as you have said, but one day everyone will come to know what you did to your brother," Kindler said pointing at him.

"You are mistaken Kindler, I have nothing to do with my brother's death, but you do, you are responsible for what is to happen, so if anyone comes to know about this, then you will be judged by me in court so better shut up your mouth," prince Edric said.

Kindler began laughing and said," Your desire and dream is to be king someday prince Edric, unfortunately, it will never happen, it is like you have forgotten that King Ashford is expecting a baby in a short time to come, who will become the next king to his father, the king of Lovaria Kingdom," Kindler said.

Prince Edric stood from the chair he was seated on and came forward to Kindler holding his sword and moving his fingers on to it to its edge and let out," I will deal with my problems Kindler, you have your assignment, so you should live from here and do as you were told, you can't mess with me and should you dare tell anyone about this, you are doomed, if I were you I should have been on my way to do as I was told, don't mess with me Kindler because you are not aware of what I can do to sit on that throne," prince Edric was moving around him when he said these words, then he shouted," Go now and if you are not done in a short time from now, you know what the outcome will be, you see, I can't wait to see your grandma begging me for her life, which I won't spare."

Chapter 2 Great Lovaria Guards and Kindler

"Guards, there is Martin Kindler, seize him,"a strong man ordered.

"Hey, what is the meaning of this? Wha, What did I do?" Kindler asked. He was seized by two guards, one on his left and one on his right. His voice was stuttering when he spoke.

"We heard that you were plotting something against king Ashford," answered the one with authority on all the guards in the kingdom with his left hand placed at his sword, he was wearing a black leather armor.

Kindler began panicking and immediately freed himself from the two guards, moved forward to the one who ordered that he be seized and he said," Walter, what is this about? I'm not making any plots against his majesty the king of Lovaria kingdom."

"Yes you are, and it is about the king's life," shouted Walter," and I as the Commander in Chief of the guards of Great Lovaria can't let this slide because it is my sworn duty to protect every king who sits on the throne and be in subjection to him until my death."

"Sir Walter, it isn't me who is plotting against the king, it is--

"Martin Kindler, who are you going to accuse now? the commander asked.

"Sir Walter, after a long time of failed pranks, you got him this time," said one of the two guards as he laughed.

Feeling relieved, Kindler questioned," So, all of this was just a prank?

"Of course it was, and setting that aside, I believe that you would never be a traitor to the king, and if you did, I would hunt you down for the whole of my life," said the commander in chief, Sir Walter.

"Seriously, do you think I could do such a thing!" Kindler said as he was shocked.

Yes, he did say this, but deep in his heart, he knew that what he was going to do was bad and that Walter was right with no doubt.

"Perhaps I do, perhaps I do not because I believe that a trustworthy person can become untrustworthy in just a day, no, not a day; in an hour; or minute; or in a second, that is why we are always on guard," said the commander.

"Sir Walter, it is time for the king's medication, I'm going now," Sir Martin Kindler said as he was set to leave. Only the almighty knew what was going on in his heart and mind at the time. There he was going into the king's layer. He had proved to be trustworthy to all the royal family; the bigwigs and the commoners. I could see that he was being disturbed; he was in confusion.

He came to the door, stood there for a few minutes, he was afraid and his hand was shaking when he went forward to knock on the door.

"Your majesty, it is the physician," one of the servants said.

"Let him in," King Ashford said lying down in his rectangular wooden bed.

Martin came in before the king. The king's condition was worsening, and Martin Kindler was the only person who had the power to cure him.

The news that Martin Kindler had come back reached the queen, and she presented herself immediately and in those present was his brother, Prince Edric.

"Martin, tell me, can I be cured?" questioned the king as he coughed.

There was the sound of silence as not a word came out of Martin's mouth, it was like he had forgotten how to speak.

"Martin, will you say something?" asked the queen in desperation, "Martin," she shouted, after a few minutes she began shedding tears.

King Ashford sighed and said, "My love, my condition is hopeless, I'm afraid I won't make it," the king said as tears filled in his eyes.

"No, stop it, my king, you will be okay, we will figure this out, promise you won't leave us, Ashford," the queen said, sitting beside him and holding his hand.

"Elsa, whatever happens, be strong for our child, it is unfortunate that I won't be there for you when you will be giving birth to our son or daughter, how I wish I held your hand as you go through the pain of giving birth; I won't get a chance to nurture him or her; to carry him or her in my hands; to kiss him or her; to play around with him or her; I won't experience the joy of being a father; maybe I deserve this, maybe I was cursed for being a bad king to the peo---

" Shhh, don't say that Ashford, for you have proved to be the one with a good heart in the whole world," she said lying on his chest, "Forget all of that my love."

"Ashford, you might be right, what if you were a bad king, a selfish king, a king who was filled with pride--

" Stop it Edric, how dare you to say such filthy things to your brother, out of hundreds of people, it shouldn't have been you saying such words--

"Let him speak, let him let out what is in his heart, maybe it's true," said king Ashford.

"No, he has crossed his limits, I'm sorry your majesty but I won't just sit around and see a ding-dong like him say such things to you, why now prince Edric? Why now when he is this ill? guards take him out, everyone go away" the queen furiously ordered.

"Don't you dare touch me, do you know who you are holding this way, "prince Edric yelled as he was being thrown out but no one was ready to hear him out, Kindler followed," Kindler you better do what you have to do instantly if you don't, I promise, you won't like what I will do, are you listening," Edric said in a low but furious tone.

"Prince Edric, where are you going this late?" asked Kindler in fear.

"I'm going to pay a visit to your beloved innocent grandma, one of the two dies today, you choose," Edric said leaving Martin with a bigger decision to make. A decision that was to change everything for the worse or better. Kindler fell on his knees and began shedding tears as he wondered what to do next. The clock was ticking.

Chapter 3 A Great Responsibility

"Kindler you've got to help us, it's the queen," said one of the Queen's servants, she came running all the way, her chest rose and fell with rapid breaths, she wheezily said," it's urgent."

Kindler getting on his feet inquired, "Does this mean it is the time?"

"No it isn't, the baby wasn't due for another two months," a lady probably in her 30's said, "this is what I've always tried to avoid since his majesty's terrible illnesses, let's go."

"Thank God you're here in time," said the Queen's servant as they both rushed to the Queen's layer.

"Everyone, bug off except two of the Queen's servants, " said the lady as she pointed towards those around, "You too Sir Walter, wait outside for this isn't a battlefield."

"Ahhhhh!" Elsa screamed, she could barely stand the pain, it was like hell.

"Hey Elsa, we are going to deliver this baby, okay," said Angelia. She was always ready or looking forward to this day, she had all she needed.

"Angelia, you can't imagine how painful this is, Ahhhhh!" Elsa screamed.

Sweat was dripping down her face; it was like she was in a sauna. Her body was hot, heavy and in pain. She wished Ashford was around but wasn't, she would want him to be around but that was far from what was possible, she clenched and unclenched her fists, getting hold of the sheets on her bed tightly, this was a nightmare for her, she never imagined that giving birth was painful.

"Elsa it's now, push," said Angelia, "Is the position comfy enough for you?" Angelia repeatedly let out.

They went on like this for a while. Breathing, chanting and pushing. It was a repeated cycle. Elsa started feeling drowsy.

All Elsa heard was Angelia, her friend and midwife chanting, "You can do it! Push!! Pause to take a breath."

Elsa did it, she had finally given birth to a child they'd waited for 9 months in 8 months.

Elsa carried the baby in her hands, she was filled with joy after seeing him for the first time.

The baby was sleeping soundly.

"You did it, Elsa," shouted Angelia immediately, she began shedding tears of joy, on hearing this, Sir Walter rushed inside.

Clearing his throat, he said," My queen you did it, you gave birth to the future king for he is a boy, all people in Lovarian kingdom will bow down to him, I strongly believe that he will be like His father and mother, I'll inform the king now, this will cheer him up and the entire kingdom."

"Angelia," called the queen as she lay on the bed.

"I'm all ears, Elsa," Angelia answered back, quickly she moved to the Queen's bed and sat beside her.

"We have been friends, no, not friends but best friends throughout time, Angelia I want you to know that I've always viewed you as my sister, you know that I don't have any relatives, so you are the family I've got," said Queen Elsa as she held Angelia's hand.

"Elsa, I know that, and you can always count on me," she replied.

"Angelia, there is something you should know," queen Elsa said," I don't trust anyone in the kingdom, but I trust you, I'm going to hand over to you a great responsibility, I'm sorry Angelia, but it never crossed my mind that things would turn out this way, you are going to take away the baby."

"What!" she said in shock, with a smile on her face and nodding her head she continued, "Ohhh, I get it now, I'm in dreamland, I never knew my dreams would take me to this, wow."

"Will pinching you or slapping you in the face help you realize that this is reality, does this look to you like a dream? I'm dying Angelia, I'm dying for real and this might be the last time you see me, "Queen Elsa said in tears she had lost a lot of blood and felt like she couldn't make it.

"What! No, Elsa, you shouldn't be saying such things, you must have faith that you will live, Elsa you are the only one I have, you are my everything, if you can't live for yourself, or me then at least live for the baby, please Elsa," Angelia wobbly said.

"Angelia you will still be with me, for I'm in him, my blood runs through his veins, Alaric has come to exist because of me and Ashford," she said as if she was saying goodbye.

"Alaric!"

"His father and I decided to name him Alaric, not only will he be second to none but also sit on the Lovarian throne when he is ready and grown-up, tell him of his identity when he turns 18, before that no one should know his identity for his safety, I and his father have strong faith in him, Promise me Angelia that you will take good care of him, promise that you will do everything to see that he has qualities like ours," asked Elsa.

"I promise you, my sister, I'll do just that, and I won't trust anyone," said Angelia.

"Here is his father's ring, through generations it has been passed onto kings, this will help in identifying him as our son, and this necklace is a gift from his father; it should never leave his neck; finally, here is a letter with a royal seal, these things shouldn't happen if his father recovers," said Queen Elsa handing over the ring; royal sealed letter and the medallion to Angelia.

"Elsa, what if they don't recognize him as your son? What if they don't believe us?" asked Angelia.

"There is always a way; the truth always comes out, and what is right always wins; he will be recognized by his works, he will be different, one more important thing, tell him that we loved him so much," said Elsa as she breathed her last.

"Kindler, what brings you here?" inquired King Ashford.

Kindler eyes were watery, he said, "Your majesty, I'm sorry."

"What are you going to do to me?

"I'm sorry your majesty," said Kindler, shedding tears.
