Life... no human being knows what her life will be like, nor can she choose the life she will live. Humans cannot choose their parents and where they will be born. Human destiny has been determined by the Creator, you can only accept and try to do your best to live life. Like me...
I come from Megan's family which is known for its psychic abilities. Our family is known as great psychics. Lots of people who were bothered by ghosts came to ask for our help.
My grandfather is the head of the family. He is the most powerful psychic in our family. After my grandfather, my father was the greatest psychic. Coming from a family of psychics indeed got me used to deal with ghosts, but I had a drawback.
I can feel the presence of spirits but can't see or communicate with them. Born as an only child, one day I will become the successor of the family.
My father and grandfather had extraordinary psychic powers. Not only can you feel, see and communicate with spirits. They can also accompany the wandering spirits to go to their world. I was amazed by their abilities and at the same time frustrated because I was different from them.
To train my abilities so that I can match the abilities of my grandfather and father, I deliberately studied at Grandes High School which is famous for its spookiness. Terrible incidents often occur there. Just looking from the outside, I can feel the sinister air from that school.
Since studying at Grandes High School, my ability to sense ghosts has gotten stronger. However, again feeling frustrated because they are still unable to see the apparitions or communicate with them.
I often went to the school building alone at night. My only wish is to be able to see the appearance of the ghosts that live in the school. However, my efforts were in vain because there were still no sightings that I saw.
Flashback On
Until one night, I met this person. She is a student at Grandes High School, but we are in different classes. I come from class 1A while she comes from class 1B.
When I first met her, I was amazed that she dared to come to school alone in the middle of the night. There's not the slightest hint of suspicion, I just judge her to be a brave girl.
I immediately changed this thought when I heard her say something strange.
"Hm, she's quite a scary ghost. Must have suffered a lot during her life."
I'm sure I heard right, she mentioned a ghost. That's when I suspected her of having the ability to see spirits.
"What did you say?" I asked, making sure once more that I had heard correctly.
"Huh...?"
"You said something about ghosts just now, right?"
"Oooh, that... I'm talking about the ghost that just passed in front of us. She's quite the ghost."
"Y-you can see ghosts?"
"That's it. Can't you see it?"
I shook my head in response. It turned out that my suspicions were right, she can indeed see ghosts.
"Did you bring paper and a pencil?" she asked suddenly.
"It's in my bag, what is it for?"
"Come here give it to me, later you will know."
This girl is a bit rough and tomboyish. I don't like hanging out with people like her, but her ability to see ghosts makes me curious to get to know her better.
I complied with her wishes, then I gave her paper and pencil as she requested. The girl whose name I don't know yet started to draw something on the paper I gave her.
It didn't take long for her to draw, and she returned the paper and pencil to me. Was surprised by her behavior, and I widened my eyes when I saw the picture.
In the paper, there is a picture that is quite terrible. Image of a woman sitting on the floor, while walking with a shuffle. The woman's face was not very clear because it was covered by hair. What makes this picture scary is that there are lots of black stains on the woman's clothes. I did not understand the meaning of this picture so I immediately asked for it.
"Why are the women's clothes in this picture so dirty?"
"Dirty with blood." The answer was relaxed, in contrast to my response, which jolted in surprise.
"Is the woman you drew the ghost you said earlier?"
"That's how it is. You can't see it, so I described it so you can know and imagine the ghost."
The girl walked away from me and quickly I ran to catch up with her.
"Hey, wait for me. Where are you going?" I asked after I managed to match her steps.
"Of course follow the ghost."
"What are you following her for?"
"I just want to know where she went. I want to know why she often terrorizes girls in this school."
"What do you mean?"
"Haven't you ever heard of rumors that many students are possessed? Many students are carrying picket duties or are following possessed extracurricular activities. That's why no one dares to be in this school when class is over." The girl explained seriously, her steps didn't stop, and so did I, who was still following her.
"It's not certain that the ghost you drew possessed them?" I asked her again to talk because for several minutes only silence hit.
"It's obvious it's the ghost possessing them because I heard the possessed girls walk swaying."
"Can you communicate with ghosts?"
"Of course, you can't."
I frowned, if I can't communicate with her, why is this girl following the ghost? I started to wonder. "It's useless for you to follow the ghost if you can't communicate with them?"
"Don't be fussy." She stopped walking, turned to me, and gave me a sharp look that made me freeze in place "I will find out why the ghost is haunting this school without having to communicate with it."
The girl kept walking, and I still followed her from behind. I don't know why I'm so curious about her. I wonder what she will do.
She stopped in front of a room. If you look at the writing stuck above the door, this room is the teacher's room.
"It seems the ghost is a teacher. This clue is enough to find out about her identity."
"What do you mean?" I do not understand the meaning of her words, asked for an explanation.
However, instead of answering. She just walked away from me.
I rushed after her. "Hey, wait. Please answer me, what are you going to do with that ghost?"
"If you want to know, tomorrow night come to this place," she said as she looked back over her shoulder, then smiled faintly. "See you later."
Even though I was still confused by her words, all I could do now was stay silent while watching her back receding further.
That day, I was ordered by my math teacher to collect my classmates' workbooks. I'm currently walking towards the teacher's room.
Arriving at the teacher's room, I was surprised by something. The mysterious girl I met last night is here. She was talking to a teacher. I don't know what are they talking about.
As soon as I arrived at the math teacher's desk, I immediately put my friends' assignment books. When she turned back to the mysterious girl, she was not there. I looked around to find her. However, her figure was indeed not in the teacher's room.
Out of curiosity to know what they were talking about, I ventured up to the teacher who had been talking to the girl to ask her directly.
"Excuse me, Sir."
The teacher turned when she heard my greeting. "Oooh, yes. What's wrong?"
"My name is Angie from class 1A. Can I ask you something?"
"Sure. What do you want to ask?"
Pausing for a moment, I decided to ask the point without further ado. "Earlier I saw you talking to a student, if I may know, what were you talking about?"
The teacher was silent for a few moments until he finally opened his mouth to answer. "Ooh, that... she was asking about a teacher who died recently."
"Was there a teacher in this school who died recently?"
"Yes, there is, it happened about a year ago. A literature teacher named Mrs. Minerva was found dead behind the school in a very sad condition. Both of her legs were broken as if they had been hit by a hard object."
I was stunned without being able to say a word. So the girl thoroughly investigated the identity of the ghost she saw last night. Looks like I'll have to come over tonight to see what she's up to.
As usual, tonight the atmosphere at Grandes High School was so quiet and tense. The enveloping darkness adds to the eerieness of this place.
I remember last night the mysterious girl told me to come to the teacher's room. Because of that, I rushed to go there.
As soon as I arrived in front of the teacher's room, I didn't see anyone, maybe she hadn't come yet.
I thought she had tricked me into not coming even though I had been waiting here long enough. When I decided to leave, I was immediately discouraged because I saw someone walking closer. I can't see her face clearly because it's so dark in here.
Once she was standing close enough to me, then her face was clear. Turns out she's that mysterious girl. She came as she said last night.
"Ooh, you came too. Looks like you've been waiting a long time," she said casually, not the slightest note of regret in her voice.
"I thought you weren't coming."
"Of course, I will come, I want to immediately put an end to those annoying rumors. Why are you here yourself?"
"I want to know what you're going to do with that ghost."
"Hooo, I see. Then watch what I will do to the ghost of Teacher Minerva who is right behind you now."
My eyes widened, surprised to hear the ghost was right behind me. It was true that I had been feeling a chill from earlier, but I never thought that a ghost was right behind me.
"I know your spirit is filled with vengeance, Mrs. Minerva. It looks like you have been killed, but what you did was still wrong. You shouldn't have possessed female students at this school and hurt them. I can't forgive what you did."
The girl walked closer to me, then suddenly she crouched beside me.
"H-hey, what are you doing?" I asked, surprised.
She took out a nameplate from her shirt pocket. Then put the nameplate on the ground. There is an inscription on the nameplate. I looked at it carefully, and how surprised I was when I saw that the writing was in the form of the word 'Minerva'.
"W-what are you going to do?" I asked her again.
"I will seal her so she will stop bothering humans."
After saying those successful words made me dumbfounded. She closed her eyes as she lifted the nameplate.
"O Minerva's wandering spirit, I will quench your heart filled with vengeance. Enter this nameplate and don't ever come out as long as I lock you up. Minerva ... follow my words, and I lock you up inside this nameplate. I order you to enter this nameplate. Minerva... I lock you up!!!"
The wind suddenly blew very fast. The nameplate she was holding shook violently. She put it on the ground. Finally, the nameplate stopped moving, and the gust of wind also stopped.
The mysterious girl took the nameplate and tied it with a black rope.
"From now on Mrs. Minerva's ghost has been locked away. She will no longer possess humans."
"Y-you sealed it?" It's still hard for me to digest what just happened. This girl has great abilities.
"Yeah, that's how it is." She replied with a shrug.
"Who are you?" I finally said this question, a question I should have asked since our first meeting.
"My name is Sylvia. As you can see, I can see and seal ghosts."
I was dumbfounded at her confession, not expecting someone to have such special abilities. Even though all this time I was the one who hoped to have extraordinary abilities like that.
Flashback Off
"Angie, Oi... Angie!"
I flinched at the sound of someone calling, waking me up from a long daydream where I was reminiscing about memories.
"You told me you wanted to ask for help. What kind of help did you want?"
With confusion and seriousness on her face, the girl asked while glaring at me. I smiled a little, remembering we had promised to meet here and I just ignored it.
"There are still ghosts who haven't returned to their world. Not only one ghost but there are still several ghosts." I said, getting straight to the point.
"Wh-what? You told me Celia was the last ghost?"
"Yes, Celia is indeed the last ghost that is still free to roam in this school. The ghost I mean is the ghost that was sealed."
"Haah? I don't see what you mean, Angie?"
Chuckling in amusement at the confused expression of the girl before me, I touched her shoulder with a light touch. "Tonight we meet at school, I have something to show you."
The confusion on Leslie's face became even more obvious. However, I ignored it and chose to walk away from it. It still seems to me that this school is still not completely peaceful before calming all the spirits that were sealed by Sylvia.
***
If I wait alone in the middle of the night in front of this room, I will be reminded of past events. At that time I stood alone in front of this room to wait for Sylvia. Like tonight, I was standing in front of the teacher's room waiting for someone. Leslie is the person I'm waiting for.
I didn't wait too long until Leslie's figure appeared in front of me. However, it wasn't just Leslie's figure that appeared, someone was standing beside her.
"Huh, just because you're already dating. You're always alone everywhere. What are you doing? You didn't stop by any other place before you came to this place, right?" I asked, looking at them in turn.
"Of course not, what are you talking about, Angie?"
"Just admit it."
"We didn't go anywhere, from home ... we came straight to this place. Isn't that right, Sean?"
Sean nodded without hesitation, confirming Leslie's words. "Yes, of course. Don't think bad things about us."
"Hahaha ... yes, yes. I'm just kidding. Come on, let's go inside!!" I thought I had teased them enough, now wasn't the time to waste our precious time.
"What's going on in the teacher's room?" Leslie asked.
"You guys just follow me, later you will know."
Even though the faces of the two of them were filled with confused expressions, they still followed me from behind.
I opened the teacher's room door which was unlocked. This afternoon before going home, I asked permission to hold the key to this room. I asked permission to enter this room at night, I was happy that the school guard allowed me. When I arrived at school, I already unlocked the door.
My two students and I continued to walk toward a room. Until I stopped when I arrived in front of the room, and so did Leslie and Sean.
"P-Principal's room... why did you bring us to Headmaster's room? I-Is Headmaster's spirit haunting this school now?"
I couldn't help but laugh at Leslie's terrified expression. Leslie does have special abilities like Sylvia, it's just different from the brave Sylvia, Leslie is very cowardly.
"Angie, why are you laughing? Why didn't you answer my question?"
"If the Headmaster were to be a ghost you'd be the first to see it. I and Sean ... we can't see ghosts."
Leslie paused, she seemed to realize that what I said was true.
I opened the door to the Headmaster's office and walked into the room. So even with Leslie and Sean walking behind me.
I walked over to a cupboard. Without hesitation, I opened the wardrobe door.
"Hey, Angie, what are you doing?"
I didn't care about Leslie's question at all, I continued to move my hand to open the cupboard door.
"What's that? Isn't that a sign?"
Once again I didn't respond to Leslie's question, I took a nameplate from the cupboard. After that, I closed the wardrobe door again.
"What's that thing you're holding, Angie?" Leslie asked again, looking very curious.
"As you can see this is a sign."
"What's wrong with that nameplate?"
"Leslie, Sean... inside this nameplate is a sealed ghost."
"W-What?"
Leslie and Sean shouted at the same time, it seemed they were so surprised to hear what I said.
"Is that true, Angie? Who sealed the ghost in the sign? Is she the same person who sealed Marina's ghost in the shed?"
"Yes. She is my best friend, Sylvia."
"Then whose ghost is sealed inside that nameplate?"
I held out the nameplate to Leslie, but Leslie refused to accept it. In the end, Sean received the nameplate.
"It says 'Minerva' on this sign."
Sean said while staring intently at the writing on the sign.
"Minerva is the name of the ghost sealed inside the sign. She used to be a teacher at this school, but she was found dead very sadly. Her body was found with both legs broken behind the school. I'm sure she was killed by someone. When she still roams freely, she often possesses Grandes High School students who are still in this school when school hours are over. To stop her actions that often possess humans, Sylvia sealed her inside this nameplate. But I feel that everything is not finished before her spirit can rest easy and return to her world."
"Why did Sylvia seal it? Why doesn't she try to find out who killed her so you can appease her spirit?" Leslie looked emotional after hearing my explanation.
"Sylvia does have special abilities like you, but in contrast to your ability to communicate with them, Sylvia cannot communicate with them. She can only see and seal them."
"Then why did you bring me here?"
"Yes, I want to ask for your help, Leslie. Please find out who killed Minerva. We have to appease her spirit."
Instantly Leslie's eyes widened perfectly. "T-That means, you're going to break the seal?"
I nodded my head in response to Leslie's words because that's what I would do.
"Leslie, you want to help me calm Minerva's spirit?"
Leslie was silent at first until a few minutes later she nodded in agreement. "Okay. I feel that what Sylvia did in sealing her was wrong. We should have helped the ghost to return to their world instead of sealing them."
I smiled at Leslie's words, I felt relieved because she wanted to help me.
"I will unseal it. But before that, there is something I want to tell you."
"What's that?"
"Minerva's figure was quite hideous. Her body was covered in blood, her face was covered by her long hair and..."
"And what?"
"Like I said earlier, both of her legs are broken so she walks in a slump."
"T-That's terrible," said Leslie with a grimace.
"You're used to seeing ghosts it should be familiar to you."
"Still I'm scared."
"Then get ready Leslie, Sean ... I'll break the seal."
Leslie and Sean nodded their heads in unison.
I put the nameplate on the floor and started to close my eyes. Then I recited the sacred words that Sylvia had taught me to break the seal.
"O spirit of Minerva who is locked in this nameplate. I call you... I order you to come out from inside this nameplate. Minerva, you are free from this lock!!"
After I finished saying the sentence to break the seal, I felt the wind blow very hard. The nameplate shook violently.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!"
Leslie's scream made me flinch.
"What's wrong, Leslie?"
"T-The ghost came out... slowly the ghost's body came out from inside the nameplate."
The nameplate continued to vibrate and showed no sign of stopping.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!"
"What else is there, Leslie?"
"That ghost... she approached me..."
"Leave her be. She'll want to show you her memories, Leslie."
As the nameplate stopped shaking, the wind that was blowing also stopped. Then ...
Leslie's body suddenly fell, and Sean swiftly held Leslie's body.
"Angie, what happened to Leslie?"
Sean said that with great panic.
"Calm down, Sean. Don't you see this a lot? She's like that, this is a sign Minerva's ghost is showing her world of memories to Leslie."
Sean and I continued to be beside Leslie who looked sleeping. I know Leslie's spirit is leaving her body and traveling in the world of Minerva's memories. Every time I see Leslie lose consciousness like this, I feel pain in my heart. If only I had the ability like Leslie, I definitely wouldn't put Leslie in this kind of danger. When Leslie's spirit left her body and went on an adventure in the world of the ghosts' memories, it was a very dangerous situation for Leslie.
Her empty body is sure to be the target of the spirits. Sometimes I was afraid that the ghosts would take Leslie's soul so that Leslie's spirit could not return to her body. So far, however, my worries have not materialized. Leslie always made it back to her body safely.
"Angie, Leslie's body is shaking," Sean said, still as panicked as before.
"Quickly call her name, this is a sign that she will return to her body soon."
Yes, after doing several ghost investigations with Leslie, I realized something. When Leslie's body suddenly collapses and loses consciousness, it is a sign that Leslie's spirit leaves her body and travels in the world of ghosts' memories. When her body shook violently, it was a sign that Leslie's spirit had finished traveling and would soon return to her body.
"Let's call Leslie quickly."
Sean nodded her head in agreement with my words. Then at the same time, I and Sean shouted Leslie's name, and we kept calling Leslie.
I felt an incomparable relief when I saw Leslie slowly open her eyes again.
