Vad's POV
My head hurts as a lightning bolt struck in front of my handsome face. The accident immobilized me, and I have a hunch that a massive molten rock was on top of me. I shut my weary eyes, and I can't sense my adulthood. I clutched for air while my heart palpitated even without caffeine.
Am I going to die like this? I'm too young, and heaven wouldn't be ready for my arrival. Could it even handle me? Satan would slam hell's door in front of me. I'm not welcome there either. I'll put the demons in shame because I'm too hot to be in there.
What I have in mind was my mission. I am the only one who can save humanity because I am Vad Wagner. I am the best in my craft. What will happen to them if I die? As of the moment, it's hard to find someone better than me. No one can even reach my level. I don't want to brag, just being honest.
I can't lose track of Lambo, the one I've been chasing for quite some time now. He was the leader of a notorious gang that was spreading all over the country. His wealth came from child trafficking, illegal gambling, drug deals, and countless heinous crimes.
He's good at running away before I could land my fist on his filthy face. He should feel honored, knowing that I am his sworn enemy. I used to write my signature on my enemy's lifeless body, and I'm thrilled because he's coming next.
It's a boredom to wait for the light to appear. It's a sign when a person is about to die. A grim reaper must be on his way to fetch me. Why did I end up like this? Everything happened so fast.
I was riding my Ducati while tailing him. I was almost there, but a massive explosion coming from a house where I was passing by blew me away. It's amazing if my organs were still intact. Lambo was too lucky, but unfortunate for not being able to have my autograph.
"Aww," I ached in pain.
Wait, am I hearing my voice? Am I in heaven already?
I was massaging my head. When I opened my eyes, everything was blurry. The only thing I'm sure of? I am still alive, because I could smell my long-lasting, expensive fragrance from the best brand of perfume.
After a few seconds, my vision came back, and I was lying on the floor.
I look around me. I am inside a house. How am I here? That's weird. The person who owns this room wasn't that organized. There were writings on the floor, books, and candles. What's this? A member of a cult? I shook my head and slapped my face. I have to regain my senses. The more I slack off, the more Lambo could go farther. I can't let that happen.
I stood up and flexed my muscles while closing my eyes. Concentration was what I needed. Being tough was my specialty. I have to find my motorcycle. I ran as fast as the flash and roamed my eyes. What surprised me was that there were no traces from the explosion. Things were still the same, but something felt off. While I was running, I bumped into someone. I ignored her and minded my business, but she grabbed my hand.
"Where are you going? Are you done with your homework?" she asked.
Is she insane? She looks fine for someone who's mentally disturbed. I grabbed my hand away from her.
"Are you alright? I'm a busy person. I don't have time for this," I said.
She was shocked.
"What are you talking about? You're being lazy again. Come on."
She grabbed my shirt and dragged me.
"Hey, hey. Don't touch me. I don't even know you."
I pushed her away as a sign of resistance.
I don't want to be violent in front of a lady.
"What kind of acting is that, young lady? Go to your room and do what I say," she said.
Young what? Is she nuts?
"You need to go to a mental hospital, Madam."
She was driving me crazy. She was none of my concern. I ran and escaped from the scene.
"Kylo!"
I shook my head, poor woman.
Where is he? That rat was too fast. Still, no one has ever got away from me. I was passing by a coffee shop and glanced at the window. I stopped. Something feels weird. I went back and look at my reflection in the window.
"What the hell?" I murmured.
Am I dreaming? Why am I seeing a different person as my reflection? Did the accident cracked my head? What is wrong with me?
I slapped my face two times. I have to wake up.
"Kylo? Why are you here?"
I look at the person beside me. I think the kid was one of the staff at the coffee shop. He was wearing their uniform.
"Excuse me? Are you talking to me?" I asked.
"Yes. Who else would I be talking to?" he replied.
I don't have time for this. I ran away from him. Lambo must be on his way out. I should remain focused. I walked across the street and was hoping to see his shadow.
I remembered, I've put a tracker on his car. I was trying to get a hold of my phone in my pocket, but... what is this? Am I wearing a skirt? Why the hell? What's wrong with my body? I touched my face and my hair. This isn't me!
"Ah!"
I screamed in shock.
"Kylo, are you alright?"
I looked behind me and saw a girl. Why are they calling me Kylo? My name is Vad! Again; Running away was the only thing that was rolling in my head, not knowing where to go. I have damaged my brain. I don't know what to think anymore. Am I hallucinating? Is this part of being an adult? I'm only thirty-five, for Pete's sake. Is this what they call a mid-life crisis?
I went to the nearest telephone station and dialed my number. It rang for a few minutes. Someone answered the phone.
"Hello?" someone from the other line spoke.
I had goosebumps. I could recognize his voice. Who wouldn't recognize his own? I am fucked up.
Kylo's Point of View
I opened my eyes, but I could only see darkness. Did I go blind after the ritual? I feel dizzy. I can't move my arms.
I was right. Maybe it wasn't true, and I was scammed. What an idiot. Who would believe that it will work? Well, only a dumb kid like me. I was so desperate to eradicate my bullies, so I went in search of something that might help me get out of this misery.
I tried to stand up... What is this? Who tied my hands?
The lights blinded me when it turned on. I roamed my eyes. I was inside of an empty room. It was a small room where the walls and ceiling were all white. I sat on a chair at the center where my arms and feet were tied. I don't have any idea what's happening.
Maybe I am in purgatory because I feel hot. I should prepare myself. The angels would probably execute me for what I have done. I am a disgrace for doing such a mortal sin and having to use black magic for my own advantage. I shouldn't have done it. My emotions have driven me to seek revenge. But if I didn't do it, I wouldn't be able to put up with their oppression and my inferiority.
The door opened. A bearded man entered. He looks like a cowboy with his outfit and boots.
"How do you feel right now?" he asked and smirked.
"Who are you?" I asked in confusion.
He stared at me for a second and laughed hard.
"The best agent doesn't know my name? Don't make me laugh. Maybe I hit your head too hard," he said and shook his head.
What? What is he talking about?
"I've heard a lot about you," he said and closed the door.
Look at this man. So the rumors had reached his ears. What's in it for him? Fine, I'm such a weakling who couldn't protect herself.
"Are you one of the parents of those bitches? What did they tell you? I'm sure they turned the table around and accused me of hurting them, when in fact I am the victim," I said.
He paused and thought deeply.
"What are you blabbering about? Don't you dare touch my daughter or I'll kill you!" he hissed.
This is ridiculous. Like what I've thought, he has victim mentality. I grinned.
"Parents have been overprotective with their children. In reality, they know less about them. They don't know that they've raised a monster," I said.
"Did you just call my daughter a monster?" he asked with his nose flaring in anger.
He was enraged and punched me in the face. So this was where they got their brutality, it runs in the blood. I'm amazed that my face was still intact from the blow.
"Was that all you've got? Come on. That won't kill me," I said and smirked.
He was pissed and started punching all over my body. For the final strike, he kicked me and I fell on the cold floor together with the chair which was broken.
"How was that? They say you are the best in the business. Well, I'll say they're wrong," he said.
My left eye was swollen and I could feel the pain on my face. He grabbed his phone and took a photo of me with a sinister look on his face.
"Perfect shot! I'll send this present to IIF so they'll know that I am unstoppable, especially that you're about to die. The best agent, huh? I'm disappointed."
That was the last thing I heard from him before I lost consciousness. All I could think about was that one of my bullies' parents kidnapped me and I'm about to get tortured. If not, maybe they hired him to assault me.
Agent? What was that supposed to mean? IIF? Was that the name of their organization? They have a lot of time to kill me, instead of watching over their spoiled children. Before I die, I will tell you how my life has been since I was a freshman. It all started one day when I trusted someone.
I was always been invisible and it's way better before I became a victim of bullying. I was a nobody. Most of you might think that students who wore glasses and quiet most of the time were intelligent. For me, that wasn't the case. I am dumb in all subjects. My grades were unbearable. I've been doing my best to improve, but I never did.
When I reached 10th grade, being dumb and invisible was fine. I have gotten used to it. Not until a friend of mine betrayed me. I thought she was real. I treated her as one. She was the only friend I had.
One day, she said she wanted to help me improve. We became study buddies. We thought we could make it, but it turns out that what's on the test was different from what we have studied. We did not even reach half of the total score. We were so frustrated.
"This is our last option," she said.
She had prepared cheating material. She made me write them on a piece of paper for both of us. I was hesitant because I know it's bad, and that was so not me. No matter how dumb I am, I never cheat. But she convinced me because we want good grades.
I guess you know what happened. We got caught. During the interrogation, she pointed out that it was my idea. The teacher was able to recognize my penmanship on the paper, so she assumed that it was me.
Since then, I was known as 'Kylo the Cheater.' There, I found my bullies. To tell you honestly, my classmates never cheat. They were all smart and competitive. I was left behind. We were dumb, but I was the dumbest for believing her. Mom doesn't know about this. I don't want her to know. She couldn't do anything about it either. We were powerless compared to them.
I attempted suicide. But If I would do that, I'd be giving them the chance to be free from their madness. I thought that it's unfair, so I made up my mind and sought revenge instead.
I have done my research for weeks. I came up with the ritual from the data that I have gathered. I even dug up the deep web to find it. The ritual handbook cost me a lot. I broke my piggy bank and used the money I earned from my allowance for the past 4 years.
Using black chalk, I drew the ritual pattern on the floor of my room. I lit 6 red candles around it. After uttering the chant, I had to close my eyes and wish. It would be granted, it says. The twist was I must not fall asleep before the fire completely consumed the candles. I was doing it at 1:00 am.
"I want to be the strongest so I could protect myself from them. I want them to fear me that even my voice would send shivers down their spine, and my name shall be praised."
That was the words that came out of my mouth.
A loud knock on the door awakened me. I'm still alive. It's ridiculous. Two guys entered the room. They walked closer to me and grabbed my arms. I could barely stand up. I don't have the energy to move, so they dragged me. I'd rather be dead. Why can't they leave me alone? I want to rot and decay.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked.
My voice was soft, but enough for them to hear.
"Why should we tell you? Do you think we're dumb?"
The guy who was covered with tattoos said while holding my left arm tightly. I almost forgot I am the dumb one here.
"Tell him. He's not going to live long after all."
The guy with a scar on his cheeks smirked.
"Well then, agent. IIF sent their backup to save you, but before that, we're going to kill you," the tattooed guy said.
"Straightforward. I like that," I whispered.
We were walking across rooms. I could hear voices from the inside. There were knocks on doors as we passed by. There were cries and loud banging. I wonder if this is a mental hospital. Maybe I had gone insane after everything.
"Excuse me. Can I go to the comfort room before you kill me?" I asked.
"Don't you dare trick us. That won't work," the scarred guy said.
"So you want me to urinate in my pants, huh?" I said.
They looked at each other.
"He wouldn't be able to escape. The whole area is surrounded by huge walls. He wouldn't be able to climb up there. Fifty trained men are guarding each and every corner. The only way in and out is the huge gate, which is guarded by ten men with great fighting skills. Even if he's planning to trick us, he'll end up dead," the scarred guy said.
"Well then," the tattooed guy said.
They dragged me to the right corner, which I presumed was the way to the comfort room. I was not in my right mind. I want to get over everything and die peacefully. They untied my hand before I entered the room. I stopped when I looked at my face in the mirror.
"What is this?"
I touched my face, scrubbed my cheeks, and blinked a few times.
"Is this me?" I whispered.
So it worked! But I was not expecting this to happen. I've read the handbook and I was not informed that I'll turn into a different person. Did I make a mistake during the ritual? Maybe my pronunciation of the chant was wrong. Am I going to be like this forever? I don't understand. As far as I can remember, my wish was to be strong. Does being a guy makes me stronger than before?
"Make it quick!" they yelled.
What should I do now? I don't even know if this body belongs to someone.
I walked out of the room while thinking deeply. I lend my hands and they tied it again. I know what you're thinking. I look stupid. I have to escape from this place and find answers to my confusion. But first, I have to gather information.
"Do you know me?" I asked.
"Of course. You are the great Vad Wagner but look at you now," the scarred guy smirked.
Vad Wagner, huh? I've never heard of such a name before.
"What makes me so great?" I asked.
"Because you're famous. You're like a legend. You're the best IIF agent. I'm a fan. You've killed numerous badass in the business, put crazy politicians behind bars, and donated half of your wealth to charities," the tattooed guy said.
What? Unbelievable.
"Why do you know a lot of things about me? Agents should keep a low profile," I said.
"We have to know our enemy. I was thrilled to know that you are after our boss. I never thought that this day would come, that I can see you in person."
He was saying things like Vad Wagner was a Korean Idol. Wagner must be great, that a criminal admires him.
"Stop spilling nonsense, Idiot!" the scarred guy said.
"It is an honor to be the one killing the legendary," the tattooed guy said.
If Wagner was the best Agent, I guess I ruined his name for being too weak. But if I'm inside his body, maybe I can be strong too.
"Make way for the great Vad Wagner," the tattooed guy said.
We were in front of the gigantic gate. The guards opened the gate and positioned for a salute. What a surprise. Looks like Wagner has a lot of fans here.
"Can we have a handshake from him?" one of the guards said.
"Sure," the tattooed guy said.
They lined up in front of me and shook my hand. I don't know what to feel. Should I let him die like this?
"You're crazy. Boss won't be glad to see this," the scarred guy said.
"He's not here, so don't ruin our mood," the tattooed guy replied.
After what seems to be ceremonial for a fallen comrade, we entered the van. The guards put down their caps as I bid goodbye.
"What's next? How are you going to kill me?" I asked.
"We will stop by the lake, so we could throw your dead body there," the scarred guy said.
"Seriously? Why do you have to kill me there when you can do it now?" I asked.
"Well, to enjoy the moment? This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. IIF will go down after this. This is historical," the tattooed guy said.
"I see. Too bad, you're dealing with The Great Vad Wagner. Things will not be easy," I said before exerting my maximum strength to loosen the rope. It worked. I am strong!
I grabbed the gun in the scarred guy's pocket and shot the driver. The car went crazy. The scarred guy punched my face. Surprisingly, Wagner's face was quite thick. I threw an uppercut which knocked him down. The car was moving towards a hill. Sooner, we'll be thrown down there.
"Thanks for the admiration, Mate," I said to the tattooed guy before I jumped out of the car.
I could see the agony in his eyes as the car went off the cliff. He smiled at me, like a fanboy looking at his idol before he dies. Well, I'd be glad to look at Park Seo Joon before I die too. That's the best gift.
I haven't held a gun before, neither do I have experienced combat. I used to watch action films and wished to be like them, that's why I was able to pull the trigger. I guess fighting is in Wagner's blood that's why I was able to go against them. His body is truly amazing as if it's controlling me. I love this, but I wonder what's happening in my real body now.
I am in the middle of a forest and I don't know what place this is. My stomach growled as it craves food. My wounds feel sore too. The vast forest was dark and the temperature inside was cold. The silence makes me think that I'm the only person who's lost in here.
I was roaming my eyes around when I smelled something awful. It arouses my curiosity and made me follow it. I'm like those stupid characters in a film where they follow things that seem to be dangerous.
I hid behind a tree as I drew nearer to it. This time, I could hear a strange sound. I sneak on it and saw the back of a person. So I'm not alone here, what a relief. I walked towards her and was about to utter words when she faced me.
She looks pale and weird. I mean wearing ragged clothes with bare feet isn't weird. There's something different about her that I couldn't tell. Also, she was carrying a baby. She immediately moved away from me.
"Wait!" I shouted.
She runs fast, maybe she's terrified. Do I look horrible? I mean Wagner? I want to ask for directions. I stopped when I couldn't keep up with her speed. But what does a woman with a baby doing in this forest? Well, I assumed that she's mentally ill just by looking at her.
I heard another noise. It was a cry. I think it's a cry from an infant. My instincts tell me to follow the sound again. It led me to a giant cave. The cry faded.
I went inside the cave and as I did, I could smell something. The cave smells like a rotten egg and a decaying body that I tried not to vomit. So gross! Is this a dumpsite for dead people? It's too dark in here.
"Ahh!" I shouted as I fell into a huge pit.
What is this? I couldn't see anything. Wait, I could see a light. My body was buried into something that felt like rocks and the smell has gotten worst in this part.
I moved to reach for the flashlight. I guess someone has left it here. Therefore, there's a chance that someone's nearby. Weird, my brain's working this time. I dragged myself out of what seems to be a sea of rocks. I directed the light to the whole area. I vomited after seeing everything. It wasn't rocks. It was skeletons!
I immediately ran away from it, but my feet stumbled upon something. I dropped to the ground. I lit it and my eyes widened in shock. Corpses! Decaying bodies of babies!
My body was shaking. I don't know what to do. I was frozen. All of a sudden, I saw a shadow. It was the woman I saw earlier. What is she doing here? This place is dangerous. I must warn her.
I stood up and was about to approach her when she gazes at her child wrapped in her arms. I dropped my flashlight when I saw the next thing she did. She ate her baby!
I was about to scream when someone covered my mouth and dragged me into darkness. Am I going to be eaten alive like that innocent infant?
After a while, I was dragged out of the cave.
"Are you alright?"
I looked at the person who saved me. He was an old man. Most importantly, he looks and feels normal to me.
"What was that?" I asked, panting.
"Before I answer your question, let's go somewhere safe," he said.
"There's somewhere safe in here? For real?"
When I was a child, my mother would warn me not to talk to strangers. Right at this moment, I can't think of anything but to follow the old man. Whether he's a cannibal, shapeshifter, or a vampire, I would know soon.
After an hour of walking, we arrived at a small village. It was a kilometer away from the forest. They carved the name of the village on top of its gate.
"Welcome to Apostria!" The old man said with joy.
Two men guarded the gate as we entered. The villagers were busy doing things on the sidewalk. Vendors and kids were playing on the street. There were beautiful murals on the walls.
So these people like art. It's clear in their clothing, which has intricate patterns and designs. One could identify that they belong in this village at a glance. They made their houses out of wood and straw hut.
"Welcome to my humble home," he said as he led me to one house.
I went inside their not-so-spacious house. They divided their place into rooms which contain a kitchen, a dining area, and three small rooms. There was no chair, instead, there were mats around the small table. I followed him as he sat down on the mat.
"I suppose we must introduce ourselves. My name is Ky - I mean Vad. Vad Wagner," I said.
I almost forgot that I don't own this body.
"I am Hesu. This is my wife, Ferer," he said while pointing at the old woman who was serving us some tea. I smelled the tea and looked at it closely.
"Don't worry. It's safe. It's an herbal tea. Our people harvested it from the mountain. We mean no harm to a traveler," he said.
I sipped an ample amount of it. It tastes good. Thank goodness, I thought it was green tea, which I hate.
"Thank you. It's delicious," I said.
"Good to hear that. It's been a long time since a traveler has come to our place. Where are you from?" He asked.
"It wasn't my purpose to come here. My travel lost me. The existence of your village was not in my knowledge. I'm from the City of Tequera. Is there a way I can go back home?" I asked.
"I see. The city is far from here. It will take you a week to go back if you walk from here. You can ride the train which will arrive two days from now. Then it will take you only a few days to the city," he said.
Two days? That's too long, but better than walking.
"Thanks for the information," I said.
"You can stay here while waiting for the train," he said.
That sounds interesting. I'm scared and nervous. Who knows if they are some sort of cannibals?
"Thank you for your hospitality. I would've been food to that crazy woman," I said.
I feel nauseous thinking about it.
"It's an illusion. It wasn't a woman," Hesu said.
"Then, what was it?"
"It's a Changeling."
"A Changeling? I have heard nothing about it before."
"It was a myth. We thought so, but it all began the day before yesterday. Babies have been missing from the village. The walls were helpful to protect our village against it, but it's not enough. It was too fast. They are monsters that replace a stolen child. The changelings are discolored with hollow eyes and a rounded mouth which is full of teeth in their natural state. They look human unless seen through their reflection. The Changeling mother feeds on the stolen babies while the young Changelings feed on the mothers," he explained.
Something like that exists? It's scary.
"How can we kill it?" I asked.
"We can kill it through flames. The only way to kill it is to burn it or eliminate its mother."
"Do you have a plan?"
"Not yet. We need to gather our warriors."
The night came. Hesu prepared a room for me to stay. I laid myself on the bed; they made it out of bamboo trunks. The idea of sleeping didn't occur to me. My back hurts. I wasn't used to this kind of lifestyle. I missed my fluffy comforter.
This is my punishment, it's my fault. I dragged myself into this mess. Gratitude should be in my heart because I'm still alive. I can make things right. I will.
As I closed my eyes, I heard a strange voice. My heart was pounding loudly. It might be the changeling! It's here to hunt for babies again. I sneaked out of the house and followed the entity that lurks through the night. My feet led me to the woods where only fireflies serve as light. I stood there, waiting for another sound.
Not far away, I saw something that glows in the dark. I followed the light. What is it this time? I hid behind the bush. I could see a person and he's glowing!
"It took you so long... Kylo," the entity said and glanced at me.
My jaw dropped. I know what it is. I could see it now. It has magnificent wings and a superhuman physique. He's the most handsome creature that I've ever seen in my entire life. I bet my eyes were sparkling in awe. He was wearing a silver robe and sandals.
"Who... are you?" I asked as I came out.
"My name is Osca. Your guardian angel," he smiled.
I gulped. His smile was alluring. It was the most amazing five seconds of my life before he tells me the bad news.
"I'm here to tell you something destructive. You've committed a crime against the will of heaven. You've performed a ritual that opens the gateway to the dimension of darkness. Now they are freely roaming Earth. Do you realize what you've done?" He said with a stunning voice.
"I'm sorry. You know why I did that."
"Regardless of your reasons, the Seraphims were not delighted. Therefore, you must close what you've opened and end what you've started."
After saying those words, he vanished.
"Vad. Wake up."
I opened my eyes and realized that it was a dream.
"No, it wasn't," a voice inside of me spoke.
It made me paused. I'm certain it's Osca, but I can't see him this time. I'm in huge trouble. Looks like I have to help this village kill the Changeling.
"Breakfast is ready," Ferer said.
There was plenty of food on the table, and none of it was familiar to me.
"The mountain was a gift. It supplies us with food to eat. Its soil is so rich that any plant would grow on it," Ferer said.
"We have an annual celebration for the founding of the village a thousand years ago," Hesu said.
A thousand years? How come I haven't heard of this place before?
"We offer rituals to our ancestors, Appolo, and Asteria. They founded the village, that explains its name," he added.
"You know what? I'd like to hear more about it, but I am more interested in your food. I've tasted nothing as good as this. It's indescribable."
Their food looks simple, yet delicious. They made everything with vegetables and leaves. Isn't it surprising? I used to dislike veggies, but this changed my mind.
"Most of our vegetables are rare. We believed the mountain is magical," Ferrer said.
"It truly is."
After our delicious breakfast, Hesu showed me a plant that would heal my wounds.
"They call this Plantain. Its leaves will heal your wounds," he said.
The perennial broadleaf plantain produces greenish flowers and has large, oval-shaped leaves which we can eat raw or cooked.
"Chew it and put it on your wounds," he said.
I did what he told me. Unfortunately, it tastes bitter. My wounds pushed me to chew lots of it. I must take good care of this body or Vad will kill me. I hope these won't leave scars.
Vad's skin was too flawless for an agent who's been through combats. He has a white inked tattoo on his broad chest. They covered me with bandages and I'm feeling the soreness of these cuts. Escaping from the kidnappers was a blast. Too bad I had to kill one of Wagner's fans.
"Tomorrow before I leave, we must eliminate the Changeling," I said.
Hesu gathered all their men as we planned on how to kill the entity. Since I started it all, I shall bring it back to where it came from.
"How many are they out there?" I asked.
"There were five sightings of them in the forest. Looks like they are roaming around places to steal babies," one man said.
"Hmm... What do they look like?"
"They were like kids. Abnormal ones."
"That's it! We don't have to kill all of them. We just have to eliminate their mother. Boys, prepare the gas. We must do some burning."
We went to the cave at dawn. We filled the cave with gas and endured the foul smell. The mother of the Changelings was busy stealing babies. After that, she's going to dispose their dead bodies inside the cave. When that happens, we are going to set it on fire.
The night was silent. All we could hear was the loud crickets. It was late, yet our senses remained active. We were in our spots, surrounding the cave inside out. My sweat was dripping though it's cold. It was so serene, like no one's breathing.
In a moment, it's here. We heard footsteps toward the cave. The cries of its innocent victims destroyed the tranquility. She entered the cave with its prey in both arms. My heart was pulsating.
"How should we do this? We can't let her eat the babies and we can't let them get burned," a man whispered to me.
I don't know. My miscalculation hit me. I closed my eyes, trying to concentrate.
I raised my right hand and counted from one to three. In a snap, they lighted the torches that they were holding and threw them, circling the entity.
It became aggressive. We can't stay here for long or we'll die together with it.
"Get out! Get out of here now!" I shouted.
That was the plan, getting out and letting it burn to ashes.
"All clear," I said.
After assuring everyone's safety, I ran back to the cave.
"Where are you going?" Hesu asked.
"Back there. I have no time. Wait for me. If I won't show up for twenty minutes, leave," I replied.
I came face to face with the entity. Anger was clear on her face. I heard footsteps, lots of them.
It looks like she called her back up.
Her kids surrounded me. I have no way out. There were five of them, glaring at me. I was shaking inside.
They attacked me with their sharp claws. All I did was avoid their scratches. My strength vanished. This is me, Kylo, not Wagner. I realized that even if I have his muscular body, my soul was still fragile, and filled with inhibitions.
I couldn't avoid all of their attacks. I got bruises all over my body and it stings. It always was me, a loser.
Everything was getting blurry. My body feels numb. As I get weaker, I could only see the faces of my bullies. They were mocking me as I sat at the corner. They were throwing crumpled papers at me and even garbage.
I sat there, not moving like a statue. I was letting them curse at me, thinking that they would get tired and stop.
"Cheater!"
"You don't belong here, bitch!"
"Such a weakling!"
"Shame on you!"
"You are a low-class peasant trying to be like us. You're so gross."
"Get lost like your Dad."
"Your Mom should die too because you deserve to be an orphan."
I clenched my fist with the fire burning in my eyes. I grabbed her hair and smashed her face on the table.
"You witch!"
Someone grabbed my hair. I held her hand and twitched it, not letting go of the head I smashed on the table. Someone choked my neck from behind. I lowered my body, positioned my stance, turned around, and kicked her feet. She's knocked down.
Before I knew it, someone stabbed the side of my waist.
"You piece of shit," I whispered.
I let the girls go, turned around like a tornado, and kick his chest. My shoes left some dirt on his uniform. Someone picked up the knife on the floor and tried to slit my nape, but I avoided it. He cut some of my hair strands instead. I grabbed his hand, twitched it, and kick his stomach.
I picked up the knife and look at them.
"How much will your organs cost?" I asked while sliding my fingers through sharp the edges of the knife.
"One million dollars for a heart. Five hundred fifty-seven thousand dollars for a liver. Two hundred sixty-two thousand dollars for each kidney. Ten dollars per inch for the skin. Five hundred dollars for the stomach, and one thousand five hundred dollars for each eyeball. Geez... You're making me rich," I smirked.
I laugh at their horrified faces. Pitying them wouldn't be an option.
I came back from my senses when I heard a cry. The changelings' lifeless bodies splattered on the ground. I diverted my attention to the babies. Searching for a sharp object, I looked down. I picked a small twig on the ground.
"Wagner, lend me your accuracy," I whispered while pointing the twig to the mother of the Changelings.
In slow motion, I threw the twig straight to her head.
"Man, you are indeed the best agent in town," I said.
I jumped off the burning circle and wrapped the babies in my arms. Poor little angels.
I went out of the cave, satisfied.
"Vad! You're alive!"
"You're bleeding!"
"But I'm alive," I said before I collapsed.
Noises awakened me. I was about to get up when I felt the pain in my waist. They covered my injuries with bandages again. My bruises have patches too. Wagner will kill me for sure.
"You're awake. I made a soup for your hangover," Ferrer said.
"Thanks. What's the noise all about?" I asked.
"Today is our annual celebration, our foundation day," she smiled.
"Oh... Great."
I sipped the bowl of soup. Damn, it tastes amazing.
"The ladies wished to see you."
"Why?"
"Oh, they're here."
Ladies came rushing in front of me while I lied there, clueless. A lady stepped closer to me and spoke.
"Vad, are you alright?"
Gosh girl, do I look fine?
"Ugh, yeah," I replied.
Another one intervened.
"Do you need anything?"
I need you out of my sight.
"No. I'm fine. Thanks for your concern."
"Are you sure?"
I hate repeating myself, for Pete's sake.
"Yes. Don't worry," I smiled awkwardly.
Another one spoke with sparkling eyes.
"Do you want to watch the fireworks with me later?"
"Ugh, I have something to do later."
"Do you want me to come with you?"
"No. I mean, I can handle it alone."
Gosh, these girls don't know how to flirt.
"I'm still tired. Could you excuse me for a moment?"
"Sure... Let's go, ladies."
Finally, the sound of silence enveloped the room. Now I know how annoying girls could get when they stick around guys who don't like them. Now I know hard it is to find words that will not hurt their feelings or stop them from thinking that I don't care. I mean, I don't care, but I don't want them to feel like it.
I want to go home. Will I make it without another entity appearing out of nowhere?
