Damon, the CEO of Damon Sanitary Pad International Limited. His company was the number one international best selling pad company. There were branches of his company all over the world with lots of workers in them. Including male and female workers. All the buildings have the same design, either by painting or building structure.
Damon is a young billionaire with a strong business acumen. He rarely visits his company's branches as he believes his physical presence wouldn't significantly impact his finances. Instead, he prefers to work from home and only ventures out when absolutely necessary, such as for crucial business meetings. In such cases, he often delegates the responsibility to his trusted manager.
At the reception...
The receptionist was a 25 years old lady named Camila. As soon as
she noticed a familiar car driving into the compound, she stopped chit chatting with the other female staff standing in front of her. It was clear from the shock in her voice that she recognized the car.
"Boss Damon is here."
"Boss Damon?" The other staff asked in awe as she left her standing position, now running to her work post which happens to be at the entrance door. She was a female security. Her job was to use the Garrett hand held metal detector to check on the bags of people before they go into the building. They didn't expect his presence as they wondered what must have brought him.
The car finally parked at the garage. A muscular young dude of 28 years old who happens to be his personal bodyguard rushed out from the front seat beside the driver's seat as he then walked towards the passenger's seat and pulled the door open. His name is Anderson.
With an expressionless and emotionless face, Damon climbed out of the car, adjusted his body-hugged shirt which made his muscular arms and shoulders look attractive. His blue jean and white canvas was fitted on him, giving him a perfect physique of a model as he then began to walk towards the entrance door of the building while the bodyguard shut the car door and walked behind him with Damon's briefcase in his hands.
He saw no staff outside the building aside from the gatekeeper who was now sitting on a seat beside the gate. Probably they were all busy with their work, he assumed.
"Good morning sir."
The female security whose job position was at the entrance door greeted him and he nodded and walked in. Smile was far from his face.
He is just 25 years old. A black short hair, fair in complexion, almost pale white. His unfathomable blue pupils' eyes contrasted exceptionally with his light toned face. His eyes were as deep and expressive and if an opposite gender should look into it, she would be lost into lust.
Now, walking towards his office,
"Good morning sir."
The receptionist greeted as well but got no response from him.
After a few minutes of walking, he finally got closer to the front of his office door and without the bodyguard being told what to do, he hurriedly pushed the door open and then stood beside the door as Damon walked in, now walking towards his office seat.
He got in front of his office table and placed his thumb on it. He felt it to know if he would feel any form of dust but then, it was clean as expected. He did the same to his seat and got the same result before he finally sat down while his bodyguard stood beside him with his briefcase still in his hands.
In the next second, he stretched out his right hand and his bodyguard understood that he was requesting for his briefcase.
Anderson stepped forward and carefully placed the briefcase on his table and then took a few steps backwards, now standing where he stood earlier.
Just as Damon was about to open up the briefcase, the ringing sound of his iPhone made him pause.
"Who is that?"
Damon asked as Anderson took up Damon's phone from the table and looked at the screen to know who the caller was.
"Manager Rex." Anderson replied and immediately, Damon took the phone and picked up the call.
On the phone...
He didn't say a word. He kept quiet and waited for the caller to break the silence.
"I'll be there in a few minutes. Just calling to inform you ahead just as you have instructed." Said the caller.
"I'll be waiting." He replied and handed the phone over to Anderson. Anderson ended the call and carefully placed the phone back on the table.
"Inform the receptionist I'll be having a visitor and she should let them in." He Instructed as Anderson grabbed the office telephone that was placed on the corner side of the table. He dialled the receptionist line and after delivering his message, he ended the call and dropped the telephone back on the table before going back to stand at his position.
Damon, whose eyes were beauteous, opened up his briefcase and then brought out his apple PC, placing it carefully on the table as he then opened his PC and turned it on.
After waiting for some minutes for the boothing of the system, he took his reading glasses out of the briefcase and wore them, now looking intensely at the PC screen as his fingers found its way to the mouse, now trying to open up a document file which happens to be a business proposal from an upcoming company. The company was in charge of producing condoms. A new branch of the brand is ongoing and they want Damon to commission their building and his signature would be needed on a hard copy printed sheet if he agrees and accepts their invitation.
He was about reading the first line on the document file when he suddenly heard some argument voices coming from the reception. He wondered why. He looked up at Anderson, and he understood the reason for the look. Anderson immediately picked up the office telephone and called the receptionist to know what's going on.
On the phone...
"There's a lady here. She is Alice by name. She wants to see CEO Damon, claiming she has a job interview with him." Said the receptionist. The telephone was in a loud speaker so Damon heard clearly the receptionist statement.
"Let her in." He said. He knew it was his fault for not telling the receptionist about Alice's interview.
Boss said you should let her in." Anderson said to the receptionist and then ended the call.
A few minutes later, Damon and Anderson heard a knock on the door.
In no time, Alice walked nervously into his office. Damon, the notoriously cruel CEO of the company she had applied to, didn't take his gaze off her. She had heard stories about his harsh treatment of employees and his tendency to belittle anyone who crossed him. Despite her trepidation, Alice was determined to put her best foot forward and make a good impression.
"Leave us." Damon said to Anderson and he obeyed. He walked out and shut the door. Leaving Damon and Alice alone.
Damon was still seated comfortably in his office seat when Alice finally took a seat in front of him.
"I'm really sorry sir if I caused any problem at the reception." She begged.
He didn't say a word to her. He stood from his seat and walked towards the corner of his office room where he had some files arranged carefully on his book shelves and then took a file out of it before walking back to his seat.
Alice saw he was a tall, imposing figure with a chiseled jaw and piercing eyes that seemed to bore into her soul. Alice gulped and took a deep breath before introducing herself.
He finally got to his seat and sat, flipping through the pages, still didn't say any word to her.
"Good morning, Mr. Damon. My name is Alice, and I am excited to be here today for the interview."
Damon looked up from his papers and regarded Alice with a cold stare.
"Did I ask you to sit?" He asked, giving her a dangerous glare as Alice subconsciously stood up.
"I'm sorry sir."
"Sit down," he commanded, gesturing to the chair across from him.
Alice sat down and tried to steady her nerves. She waited for Damon to start the interview, but he remained silent, staring at her intently. After a few uncomfortable seconds, Alice spoke up.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Damon. Is there anything specific that you would like me to discuss or any questions you have for me?"
Damon leaned back in his chair and folded his arms. "I want you to tell me why you think you're qualified for this position."
Alice took a deep breath and launched into a well-prepared answer, outlining her relevant experience and skills. Damon listened impassively, occasionally interrupting with a pointed question or a dismissive comment.
As the interview progressed, Alice found herself becoming increasingly flustered. Damon seemed determined to catch her off guard, asking unexpected questions and making snide remarks. Alice tried her best to remain composed and answer each question as honestly and thoroughly as possible, but she could feel her confidence waning.
Finally, after what felt like hours, Damon leaned forward and fixed her with a steely gaze.
"You seem nervous," he said. "Is there something you're not telling me?"
Alice swallowed hard, feeling a lump form in her throat. "No, sir. Damon. I'm just trying to do my best."
Damon's eyes narrowed. "I don't want someone who just tries their best. I want someone who excels, who goes above and beyond. Do you think you have what it takes to do that?"
Alice hesitated for a moment before answering. "Yes, sir. I believe I do."
Damon leaned back in his chair and regarded her thoughtfully. "Very well. I'll give you a chance. But make no mistake, Alice, I don't tolerate mediocrity. If you don't perform up to my standards, you'll be out on your ass before you know it. Do you understand?"
Alice nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Yes, Mr. Damon. I understand."
The rest of the interview passed in a blur, and Alice could hardly remember what was said. All she knew was that she had survived Damon's grilling and had come out the other side with a job offer.
As she was about to leave, his statement made her stop midway.
"How could you be so forgetful to ask about the job position?"
Alice was confused. The last time, she remembered that she had applied to be a receptionist a few days ago through the company's email address.
"Sir..." she couldn't finish her statement because he Interrupted.
"Well, the vacancy has been taken. You will be working as my personal assistant. Your job starts now." He said.
Is he being serious? At least he should give me a chance to decide if I want to work as his personal assistance or not.
She swallowed.
"But sir..."
"I'll be paying you $20,000 monthly." He said.
Alice knew that was a huge amount of money for her. As a graduate, it's a good start for her and she can't reject the offer because she really needs that money.
"Alright sir." She replied nervously as she took a few steps and stood in front of him.
Alice couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Damon had been every bit as cruel as she had heard, and she knew that working for him would be a challenge. But she was determined to prove herself and rise to the occasion.
Once she closed for the day, she went back home and told her best friend everything that had happened so far concerning her interview and job offer but she didn't mention his name to her or say how cruel the CEO was to her during the interview.
The next day...Damon and his twin brother, David, were lounging on the couch in the sitting room, engrossed in a movie playing on the TV. The room was dimly lit, with only the light from the screen casting shadows on their faces. They had been catching up on their favorite movies all day, and were now on their fourth one.As the movie played on, David's phone rang, interrupting the silence.
He picked it up and glanced at the caller ID. "It's Emily," he said to Damon, as he answered the call."Hey babe," David said into the phone. "What's going on?"Damon could hear Emily's voice on the other end, but couldn't make out what she was saying. David's face lit up as he listened to her speak, and he grinned broadly."Really? That's great news!" he exclaimed. "Can't wait to see you. Love you too."
David ended the call and turned to Damon, a wide smile still on his face. "Emily's coming over!" he announced excitedly.Damon smiled back, happy for his brother. "That's great, man. When's she getting here?"David checked his phone. "In about half an hour. Please, be nice. We have to clean up the place a bit."Damon nodded, feeling reluctant and careless as they both got up from the couch to tidy up the room. They quickly gathered up the empty popcorn bowls and soda cans, and straightened up the cushions on the couch. Once the room was presentable, they settled back onto the couch to wait for Emily's arrival. As they waited, Damon and David chatted about their plans for the week and caught up on each other's lives. They rarely had time to spend together like this, with both of them busy with work and other commitments, so they cherished these moments. Finally, they heard a knock on the door. David jumped up from the couch and ran to answer it, while Damon hung back, allowing his brother some alone time with his girlfriend. He could hear David's excited greeting as he opened the door, and then the sound of Emily's laughter as she entered.Damon smiled devilishly to himself, happy to hear his brother so happy remembering his brother was his opposite.
He knew how important Emily was to David, and he was glad that they had found each other.David had been looking forward to introducing Emily to his twin brother, Damon, for some time. He had spoken highly of him, how he was successful in business, and how he was an all-around great individual. As soon as Emily set her eyes on his emotionless face, Emily could feel her stomach churn. There was something about him that made her feel uncomfortable."Emily, this is my brother, Damon," David said as she approached to greet Damon."Nice to meet you," Emily said, her voice shaking a little as she extended her hand.
On the other hand, she was happy to know her boyfriend has an identical twin brother. If not that David was the one who reached out to her at the door when she knocked, she would not be able to know who her boyfriend was if Damon had followed David to open the door.Damon, however, didn't seem interested in shaking hands or even acknowledging her presence. He simply glared at her. Emily tried to ignore Damon's icy glares, but it was impossible. Whenever he looked at her, her skin crawled, and it felt like her throat was tightening. It was fortunate that Emily had come a few minutes before breakfast time so she joined them, but Damon didn't say much during the meal, except for the occasional snide remark to Emily. Each time, David would shoot him a look, but Damon didn't seem to care. After breakfast, as time progressed, Damon's remarks became more frequent and more vicious toward Emily. It was as if he was deliberately trying to make her uncomfortable. David tried to step in by changing the subject, but it wasn't helping. Finally, Emily had had enough.
"Excuse me, David," she said, getting up from the seat. "I need to go home."David looked apologetic. "You don't need to because of my brother. I'm sorry, Emily. Don't mind my brother. He is a cool person though but just ignore his attitude."Emily was furious now.
She turned to Damon and said, "What is your problem? Why are you being so cruel?" Damon smiled but it didn't reach his eyes, and for the first time, his eyes were twinkling. "I wanted to see how you would react to adversity, Emily," he said, patting her on the shoulder."You passed the test. Welcome to the family."Emily was stunned. "What test?" Damon chuckled. "David has been telling me about you for weeks, and I wanted to see if you were worth his time. Let's just say I'm impressed. You have a backbone."Emily couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was ready to write him off as cruel and uncalled for, but now it turned out that he was just testing her? It didn't feel right, but she had to admit she had taken his venomous remarks personally.
As Emily changed her mind and decided to stay longer, she couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right about how Damon made her feel earlier. She cared about David a lot, but Damon's cruel prank left a bad taste in her mouth. She didn't know what to think about missing the joke.As David and Emily settled onto the couch together, Damon excused himself to give them some privacy. He headed to his room, planning to give them some time alone before joining them again. But as he sat on his bed, scrolling through his phone, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of loneliness despite finding it difficult to give any girl his heart. He saw women as trash. He had always been close to his brother, but lately they had drifted apart, with their busy schedules and different priorities. Seeing David so happy with Emily made Damon realize how much he missed having that kind of connection with someone. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, reminding himself that he was happy for his brother. He decided to give them a little more time alone, and headed out to the living room a while later. And after a while, he entered the sitting room and saw David and Emily cuddling up together on the couch, watching a movie. They looked so happy and content, and Damon couldn't help but feel a little envious. He missed having someone to share these moments with. But as he settled onto the couch beside them, David turned to him with a smile. The two lovers enjoyed each other's company."So, how was work today, babe?" David asked Emily, running his fingers through her hair."It was good, just busy as usual. I swear, I never have a dull moment at my job," Emily replied, resting her head on David's shoulder.Damon looked up from his phone. "Speaking of work, David, how's your new job going?" David had told Damon he got a new job. David prefers working for his money and not working under his twin brother despite Damon's wealth.David sighed. "It's going okay, I guess. It's just a lot of responsibility and pressure, you know?"Damon nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I hear ya. But you're doing great, bro. I'm proud of you." Damon had no idea the kind of job David had gotten himself into.David smiled, grateful for his brother's support. "Thanks, man. That means a lot."Emily looked between the two brothers. "You guys are so close. It's really sweet."Damon grinned. "Yeah, we are. We've always had each other's backs, no matter what."David nodded in agreement. "That's for sure. I don't know what I'd do without him."Emily smiled, feeling lucky to be with someone who had such a strong bond with his family. "I wish I had a sibling like that... but my best friend has been my everything. She is so sweet."Damon chuckled. "Trust me, it's not always rainbows and butterflies. We've had our fair share of fights and arguments over the years."David nodded. "Yeah, but at the end of the day, we always make up and forgive each other."Emily leaned into David. "That's what true family is all about."The three of them sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, just enjoying each other's presence. Then, Damon spoke up."Hey, do you remember that time when we were kids and we snuck out to go to that party?"David laughed. "Oh man, how could I forget? Mom and Dad were furious when they found out."Emily looked at them curiously. "What happened?"Damon grinned mischievously. "Well, we were supposed to be spending the night at a friend's house, but we snuck out to go to a party instead. We got caught by the cops and had to call our parents to come get us."David shook his head, still amused by the memory. "We were grounded for weeks after that."Emily laughed. "You guys were quite the troublemakers, huh?"Damon shrugged. "We had our moments, but we weren't too bad."David looked at Emily, his expression serious. "I just want you to know, Emily, that I'll always be here for you. No matter what."Emily's heart swelled with affection for him. "I know, David. And I feel the same way about you."Damon watched them, feeling a pang of envy. He had always been happy for his brother's relationship with Emily, but he couldn't help feeling a little envious of what they had. He had been single for long now, and sometimes it felt like everyone around him was in a happy relationship except for him.David noticed his brother's mood and put an arm around him. "Hey, you okay?"Damon forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine."
