Chapter 1 New school, new life

Los Angeles, California..

6:00am...

The Adams residence...

"Wake up Bobby, it's time for school". A middle-aged man said, knocking on his son's room door in order to make him get out of bed.

The teenager turned on his bed, rolling over whilst using his pillow to cover his ears.

After successfully muffling the annoying sound that came from the several knocks, he sighed in relief and tried closing his eyes to continue his sleep.

"Bobby, Bobby, open up buddy". His father called out again, still knocking but he played deaf ears.

He tried the handle of the door but it was locked, then he rummaged through his coat's pocket and took out a bunch of keys.

After a few clinks, the door was opened and he went in.

"Dad...". Bobby Adams groaned as he sat upright and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I should've hidden those spare keys from you". He murmured, searching for his glasses on his bedside table.

"Rise and shine bud, it's a new day and your first day at your new school remember?". Mr Adams said.

"I'm not resuming in that school, I demand a change of school". Bobby mumbled, putting on his glasses.

"Why not? It's one of the best schools in L.A, I promise it's better than your previous school". His dad reassured.

"You also bragged about it before I got in...now I'm being transferred because it sucks". He rolled his eyes.

"I'm really sure about this one....it's perfect".

"I'm not sure...what if the students won't like me? What if I don't make any friends...I mean who would be friends with a guy like me? I'm boring..I'm a geek! That's what kids at my former school call me...it felt so lonely". He lowered his head.

"You are gonna make amazing friends, I promise...you're amazing yourself".

"The kids at my former school didn't think like that....to them, I'm a weirdo..a..a freak!".

"Who cares what they think anyway? To me, you're my amazing Bob". His dad said with a smile.

Then his countenance changed to a sad one.

"I might not be a good comforter like your mom, but just know I want the best for you...".

He cringed at the mention of his mother and sighed.

"I miss her".

"Yeah, me too Bob". His dad touched his shoulder and squeezed lightly.

"I'm sure she also wants the best for you".

"Go to school, not because of some spoilt kids who don't want or value success in their lives. Go to school because of you...when you become great, those same kids will be looking up to you". His dad said, then patted his shoulder before leaving the room.

"I'm off to work, you should prepare breakfast and eat before leaving the house okay?".

"Sure". Bobby murmured.

South Central High was as epic as they said it is.

Bobby stood, as he took a good view of the huge, fancy buildings.

Students were trooping in and out of the school.

The school environment itself was very neat and beautiful.

It was a school for the rich, classy kids and it was famous for its beautiful nature and academic progress.

School for the pros as it was nicknamed by all other teenagers who wished to be one of the students of SCHS.

Exhaling deeply, Bobby squinted his eyes as he looked to the top of the building in front of him, protecting his poor eyes from the morning sun.

Then he pushed his glasses down the bridge of his nose, ready to head in.

"Here goes nothing". He puffed out some air from his mouth, fighting against anxiety.

He dreaded the school like nothing else.

In the negative aspect, the school was also famous for having notorious bullies.

After he was cleared from the registration office, he walked down the hall to find his new assigned locker.

He didn't expect the atmosphere to be as dull as it was but then, he pushed on .

He also noticed the way some students looked at him as he walked past.

When he got to his locker, he put in the combination given to him and then threw his bag in, then took out a few exercise books and set a new lock code before heading to homeroom.

There was Mrs May from the registration office and she smiled at him when he got in.

"Class, we have a new student joining us today, he's a transfer student from Crest view high...let's welcome him..".

Then she faced him and said..

"Introduce yourself my dear".

He swallowed hard when he raised his head and stared back at the not so friendly atmosphere he met.

The students stared at him, some looking uninterested in him, some sad while some were irritated at the sight of him.

He suddenly forgot what he was about to do.

After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, Mrs May cleared her throat, to call his attention.

"You can just tell them your name okay?".

He nodded quickly and turned to face the class again.

"I..I..I'm Bobby Adams". He stuttered and adjusted his glasses, uncomfortably.

"Whatever, four eyes...go find a seat". A guy said and the rest bursted out laughing.

"Mister Blake Hudson, that is not nice at all". Mrs May scolded.

Bobby lowered his head while he looked for an empty seat.

He found one and rushed to it.

When he was about to sit, it was pulled behind and he ended up on the floor, sitting on his butt.

There was an uproar of laughter again.

"Abby Richards.... detention now!". Mrs May ordered angrily at the girl who made him fall.

"The seat is taken ma'am". She replied in defense.

"By whom?".

Abby let out a sigh before replying.

"Stephanie Myers, ma'am".

Mrs May's countenance changed to a sad one and she exhaled sharply before looking back at her students.

"There's an empty seat behind, occupy that one". She told Bobby who obeyed humbly after picking up his books from the floor.

"Don't try that next time Abby...it's not nice".

"Okay". Abby murmured, then rolled her eyes in secret.

"As we all know except our new student of course, tragedy struck us as one of our brightest students didn't make it back from the field trip in one piece.....may her soul rest in peace". She did the sign of the cross and continued...

"Class monitor, please sign and go through the class register, pick out the absentees and submit it to my office".

"Um ma'am... Stephanie was the class monitor". Someone replied.

Her eyes went wide in realization.

"Miss Claire, please do so, we'll appoint the next class monitor in our next class". She said, pointing at one of the students and walked out of the class.

They began to murmur amongst each other.

"It's so sad...she was the most beautiful girl in school". A boy said, among his league of friends.

"Serves her right....the b*tch got what she deserved, she treated us like trash just because she thought she was better than us". A girl said among her own league of chirp talkers.

"I wonder what Blake saw in her...it's not like she's really pretty".

"I bet Karma caught up with her".

"She was a total sweetheart...it's so heartbreaking what happened to her".

Bobby sat on his seat, overhearing what others discussed and it made him wondered what type of girl was the so called deceased.

Abby Richards sat in her own seat, tearing up while Veronica Lopez, her friend, passed her some tissue papers to blow in.

"Hey look, Abby is crying again". One girl said and everybody's attention was on her.

Blake, the guy who acted like a bitch earlier to Bobby stood up and went to Abby's.

He pulled her up and wiped her tears with his hanky, then pulled her out of the class, to prevent her from messing herself up in front of others.

Veronica followed suit.

Abby and Veronica were close friends of Stephanie while Blake Hudson was her boyfriend.

I'd say ex now, since she's gone.

The class was a hell of a noise as they continued discussing Stephanie Myers's sudden demise.

*

Bobby walked down the hall, heading to his locker once more, he had to get his lunch.

He found a crowd gathered at a corner of the locker hall, they seemed to be staring at something and whispering to each other.

When he got closer, he caught a glimpse of the poster.

It was the poster of the dead girl, he thought as he saw the name on it and a big 'R.I.P' written on it.

She was surprisingly beautiful, he thought again as he glanced at the poster one more time and shook his head.

"What a pity...may her soul rest in peace". He murmured to himself and walked on.

After getting his lunch of burrito and a milkshake, he turned to head for the garden but stopped in his tracks as he felt the hairs on his body stand.

The locker room was hot due to the crowd in it but all of a sudden, there was a cold, chilly wind that blew and he swallowed hard as he felt chills down his spine.

His legs trembled whilst he turned around to see what caused the chills.

His eyes went wide when he stared back at the being looking straight at him.

Her beautiful eyes were now red and puffy and it seemed like she had been crying.

There stood the girl who everyone said was dead.

She was putting on a white, sleeveless, flowing gown.

Students passed by her and were still talking about her death which meant he was the only one seeing her and what shocked him the most was when a student passed through her.

It dawned on him that he was standing face to face with a ghost.

His burrito slipped from his hand and dropped to the floor...

His milkshake container also dropped and he suddenly felt fear grip him.

Chapter 2 Stephanie Myers♥️

"Hey! Four eyes, watch it!". Blake Hudson snapped, brushing the latter aside.

He was snapped out of his trance and he stared down at his lunch on the floor.

"Weirdo...who throws food like that anyway..". Abby scoffed at him.

Then got the burrito under her kitten heels and squashed it.

"Ew.." She spat.

"Just look at him, he looks like he's seen a ghost". Veronica laughed.

Bobby Adams blinked his eyes repeatedly and looked back at where Stephanie stood, few minutes earlier.

She was no longer there.

"I must be out of my mind". He muttered under his breath.

"What the what now?" Veronica asked him.

"Did he say something?". Abby asked, folding her arms.

"I bet he did". Veronica replied.

"Let's go, leave the freak alone". Blake murmured uninterested.

He turned and was about to leave but bumped into a girl, one of their classmates precisely.

Her books dropped.

"The fuck's wrong with you huh? Are you blind?!". He yelled at her, startling her.

"I...I...I'm sorry...I...I.. didn't see you". She stammered out of fear.

"Go clean your glasses then". He pushed her roughly out of his way and she fell to the floor.

Her glasses cracked.

She took them off and rubbed her eyes which were now becoming misty.

"What's up Clark Kent? Omigosh are you crying?". Abby asked in a mocking tone.

"It...it's Emily Kent". The student replied innocently, sniffing in.

"What's wrong crybaby? Did he hurt you?". Veronica asked with a pout.

Emily Kent ignored them while she tried to examine her cracked glasses with her hands as she couldn't see well without them.

"Don't ignore her...she's talking to you bitch!". Abby suddenly grabbed her hair and yanked her up, making her wince in pain.

"No... please...I'm sorry...just leave me alone". Emily cried.

"She said to leave her alone, let her go, it's not like she did anything wrong...He was the one who bumped into her and he's supposed to apologize". Bobby blurted out in her aid, pointing at Blake.

Abby and Veronica bursted out laughing.

"Look who's tryna play the hero". Abby scoffed and clapped her hands, letting go of the innocent girl.

"Bravo..bravo".

"What did you say?". Blake asked, inching closer to him.

"You bumped into her". Bobby replied nonchalantly, earning a scoff from him.

"Motherf*cker! How dare you?!". He grabbed his collar tightly and glared back at his face.

"You're a newbie so I'll just let this slide like nothing happened...you should know better than to mess with me".

He released his grip on him and stuffed his hands in his pockets then walked away.

"We're not done yet!". Abby casted him a threatening look and ran after Blake. Veronica also followed.

"Thank you for standing up for me". The girl who got her glasses cracked said timidly as she lowered her head in front of Bobby.

"You're the transfer student right? I'm Emily Kent".

"I'm Bobby". He murmured and left to avoid further discussions.

"You..." Her voice trailed off when she heard his footsteps heading away from her direction.

"You can have my lunch". She finished her statement when he was gone and sighed.

🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋

Bobby entered into history class and walked to his seat.

He stopped in his tracks when he was halfway there and looked towards Abby's.

The empty seat she had kept from him was no longer empty and on it sat the owner of it.

Their so called dead class monitor.

Stephanie Myers was trying to communicate with Abby but the latter didn't seem to hear her nor see her.

Then she looked around the class and finally her gaze met his.

He quickly looked away, pretending not to have seen her, then proceeded to his seat.

The history teacher walked in.

He sat down with a deep breath and stole a glance at Abby's direction.

Stephanie was no longer beside her.

He squinted his eyes and shook his head off the thought that he saw something like that.

He looked again to verify her absence and he sighed in relief.

"I'm imagining things". He murmured.

"Are you looking for me?". A voice asked all of a sudden, startling him and he turned to the direction it came from.

There, beside him stood Stephanie Myers, in her white flowing gown.

He fell off his chair with a short scream.

Everyone turned to look him, even the history teacher diverted his attention to him.

"So, you can see me?". Her pale face lit up a little and she smiled.

"Are you alright?". The history teacher asked while he shook his head.

He actually shook his head replying to Stephanie's ghost but the teacher thought he was replying him.

"No..I can't...I can't see you". He said quickly.

"You can't see me?". The history teacher asked.

"I'm sorry...I wasn't talking to you...I was talking to h..." He didn't finish his statement as soon as he remembered he was the only one who could see her.

"I was talking to...her". He pointed randomly at anyone in class.

Emily Kent scrunched up her face in confusion as his finger pointed at her.

"Get up and sit right". The history teacher ordered.

"Oh c'mon... don't lie to me, you can see me right?". Stephanie persisted.

"Shut up and leave me alone!" He yelled.

The whole class gasped.

He looked around and they stared at him with scorn....he then realized what happened.

"No...no..no....I wasn't talking to you sir". He quickly apologized to the teacher who was becoming furious.

"Behave yourself or you're gonna end up in detention young man". The history teacher said.

"Look at me! Look at me...hey...you can see me...I know you can see me...". Stephanie was like a pest, waving frantically at him.

"I said shut up!!". He yelled, hitting his palm on his desk.

The class went dead quiet.

"That's it... detention now!!". The history teacher ordered angrily.

"You're ordering your teacher to shut up...what kind of manners? Is that why you were transferred from your former school?".

"I'm really sorry sir...but I wasn't talking to you, please believe me...I wouldn't dare talk to you in that manner". Bobby pleaded.

"Just leave the class". The teacher muttered.

"Answer me Bobby Adams!". Stephanie ordered with folded arms.

"Go to hell!". He clenched his fist.

There was a coupla snickers everywhere in the class.

"No! I wasn't talking to you sir". Bobby stood up and tried to defend himself.

"Come with me to my office... this class is over!". The history teacher said amid gritted teeth as he stormed out of the class.

Bobby fell back to his seat and exhaled deeply, pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.

"Thanks for ruining my day". He murmured.

"I knew it! You can see me". Stephanie sounded excited.

The rest of the students stared at Bobby with puzzled looks and bewilderment.

Chapter 3 Pestering spirit 👻

👻

She walked through the forest in a white flowing gown and her radiant black hair fell across her shoulder...it moved in rhythm with the wind.

By merely looking at her from behind, Bobby knew who she was.

His mother...

She had the most beautiful hair he had ever seen.

The dried leaves made some noise as they were crushed under her feet while she took the path.

"Mom?". He called out and she stopped walking, then turned....but stopped halfway so he was only able to see her face's side view.

Then she turned away from him and faced forward.

"Mom? It's really you". He gasped out as his face brightened up.

"I've missed you so much".

She continued walking away, ignoring him.

"Wait! Mom, it's me...Bobby, your son". He called out and ran to meet her.

He stopped when he got partially close enough.

The aura she exuded wasn't friendly at all.

The hairs on his body stood and he sensed danger.

He was confused.

"Mom?.. Is that you?" His voice broke.

She stopped walking and turned around finally to face him.

What he saw made his eyes grow wide in horror.

Where her beautiful eyes were supposed to be was replaced with dark, empty sockets.

Her nose was deformed and the skin around the area of her mouth was rotten.

Her face itself was so wrinkly and unrecognizable.

The sight was so disturbing, he felt his heart beating rapidly.

"M..om?" His eyes became misty.

It was so heartbreaking seeing his once good-looking, cheerful mother looking like that.

She wasn't wearing her pretty smile anymore.

She was just staring back at him, void of emotions.

He stretched out his trembling hand towards her.

"What happened to you?".

He didn't expect her to reply in that state but then, she began to walk away from him again.

"No! Don't leave me again! Please wait!". He cried out and rushed to meet her, then tried hugging her from behind.

But he felt his arms passed through her and he saw himself hugging the air.

Immediately, she dissolved into thin air and a strong chilly wind blew.

"No!!!!!". He wailed.

*

In reality, Bobby Adams wailed and jerked up suddenly from the bed.

He was sweating profusely and breathing heavily.

The dream seemed so real...it affected him in the real world.

He sniffed in and dried the tears from his eyes, then got down from the bed.

His bedside alarm clock was still reading 3:07am.

He groped through the dark and finally found the switch, then turned the lights on.

As he turned around to go back to his bed, he nearly had a heart attack as a short scream escaped his lips.

"Jesus, Mary, Joseph!".

There, sitting on his bed was Stephanie Myers, she crossed her legs, staring back at him with a smugly smile.

"Ouch". She touched her chest.

"Am I really that scary?".

"What the heck are you doing here?!". He gasped out.

"You just noticed my presence? I followed you home from school Mr grumpy".

"You did what? Wait! Why are you stalking me?"

"Isn't it obvious? You're the only one who can see me...why else would I follow a geek like you home? You're way out of my league yunno".

He bit on his lip annoyed by her words and glared back at her.

"That's the more reason you should stay away from me, I'm a geek and I'm way out of your league and you're... you're.. Stephanie Myers...The Stephanie Myers". He did an air quote with his fingers after mentioning her name.

"Whatever...I need your help". She said, folding her arms.

"Why would you ask for my help...I'm way out of your league". He said with a scoff.

"Look, I'm not the type to ask for help okay? Just listen to me and do as I say".

"Like I'm gonna listen to you....get out and leave me alone". He replied and crawled back on the bed.

"That's so rude...I thought geeks were nice". She said.

"This geek ain't". He replied.

There was a knock on the door...

"Bob, are you alright buddy? I heard you scream". Mr Adams said.

"I'm fine dad...I...just had a nightmare".

"Are you on the phone? Who are you talking to at this hour?".

"Uh...my um...friend...uh from school...my new school". He stuttered a reply.

"You made a friend already? That's good news". His dad was happy.

"But you both are supposed to be sleeping at this hour...you'll be going to school in the next four hours time."

"He's not on the phone....he's a bad liar!". Stephanie spat.

"Shut up, he can't even hear you". Bobby retorted.

"I'll go to bed now dad".

"Okay son".

He left the door and went to his room.

Bobby slid into his duvet and curled up like a baby.

"You really don't want to hear me out?". Stephanie asked.

"I'm not interested, leave me alone". He grumbled, closing his eyes.

She scoffed and flipped her hair.

"Leave you alone? You're making it sound like I'm pestering you...like I like you...just so you know... you're not my type".

"The more reason you should stay away". He simply grumbled.

"What's your problem?!". She became pissed.

"You". He murmured.

"You are my problem, stay away from me and I'll be very grateful".

"You're unbelievable". She scoffed and before he could open his eyes, he couldn't sense her presence again.

She was gone.

He adjusted his pillow and drifted into sleep.

👉🏣👈

He opened his locker and thrust his bag into it, then shut it.

Turning to go, he almost bumped into someone...rather a spirit.

"Jesus Christ....can you stop startling me all the time?!". He shrieked, holding his chest.

The students in the locker room diverted their attention to him.

"Who's he talking to?". A girl whispered to her friends.

"How weird!".

"The transfer student is a psycho". Another girl scoffed.

"A freak".

He cleared his throat after overhearing their murmurs and regained his composure as though nothing happened.

"I won't leave you alone until you agree to help me". Stephanie said, folding her arms.

He clenched his fist beside him and with gritted teeth, he said..

"Stop talking to me....I look stupid right now".

"Tsk tsk tsk....I said I won't leave you alone, which includes me talking to you...I even have a lot of questions to ask". She replied adamantly.

He wanted to go but she blocked his way.

He moved to another direction and she also blocked his way..

He tried moving to the direction he came from but still, she blocked him.

The students were staring at him, puzzled.

"Has he lost his mind?".

"Why is he making weird moves?".

He sighed after getting fed up of their gossips, then he stared at her.

She gave him a smugly smile and hummed quietly.

"You're not going anywhere".

He scoffed and walked towards her, then passed through her.

"Omigosh....you didn't just..." She gasped with her mouth agape.

"How dare you?!". She growled.

She stormed towards him while he was walking briskly to class.

She flung her hand to slap him, but her hand only passed through him and out.

She tried again and again until she was frustrated.

"You bastard!!". She screamed at him, her face puce with rage.

It was even more annoying to her that he kept on ignoring her.

"Hi Bobby", Emily waved at him when he got to class.

"Hi". He murmured and walked to his seat.

"Butts off, Four eyes". Blake said, towering over him

His icy blue eyes weighed him up and then down.

"Why should i? It's my seat". Bobby said.

"Go sit behind, I want this seat". He pointed to a chair at the extreme of the class alongside the backbenchers.

"I have a problem with my eye sight, if I go seat there, I won't see the board clearly". Bobby replied, pushing his glasses down the bridge of his nose and arranging his book on his desk.

"Wait...do I look like I care about you? I don't care if you can't see properly...stand the fuck up!". Blake ordered, slamming his hand on the desk.

Their classmates focused on the scenario.

"Yes baby, teach him a lesson". Stephanie suddenly appeared in their midst.

She was satisfied with the scene and folding her arms to watch.

"It's my seat...I'm not getting up". Bobby was adamant.

Blake let out a scoff and grabbed him by his collar, then yanked him up.

"I told you not to fuck with me dude...do as I say, now that I'm asking nicely". His grip on him was tight.

Stephanie bursted out laughing.

"You're gonna get it hot from him". She sneered at him.

"Shut up". He murmured to her.

"What did you just say?". Blake was mad.

"I wasn't talking to you...let go of me".

He was calm.

"You told me to shut up?!". Blake spat, increasing his grip on him.

"Just leave me alone...I didn't!". Bobby snapped, trying to get his hands off him.

A blow landed on his face and the impact sent him crashing to the floor.

Some of their classmates gasped in horror.

"You fucking freak! You need to be taught a lesson". Blake said with scorn as he looked down on the now bent over Bobby who winced in pain.

He kicked him aside and plopped down to the chair.

"Ouchie!!". Stephanie gasped out, covering her mouth.

"That looked painful". She joshed, then walked to Blake and tried waving at him.

"Babe, it's me...can you see me?".

She snapped her fingers at his face but he didn't seem to notice her or even hear her and she lost hope.

"Why can't you guys also see me? Why's it just Mr grumpy?". She grumbled, running her fingers in her hair.

Then she looked down at him.

"Get your ass up and stop being a baby...how weak are you that a single blow knocked you out?".

He slowly stood up and carried his book that was flung away, then he quietly walked to the back of the class, his head hanging low.

A couple of snickers could be heard while some students jeered at him.

Abby Richards scoffed at him while Emily Kent stared at him in pity.

Sadness suddenly engulfed her.

If only she was strong enough to help him.
