Georgia's consciousness is now alive, but she doesn't want to open her eyes yet. She can hear the sounds below, the kitchen utensils her mother uses when she cooks, and her distant voice, nagging George and Gabriela.
She slowly opened her eyelids and hurriedly closed it again when she saw her sister pop her head at her bedroom door,
" George, stand up and start moving. You won't want to be late on your first day of school. Aren't you?" Gabriella said.
Georgina pretended she didn't hear her sister talking and continued closing her eyes until she left the room.
She counted more than 10 minutes, still wanting to recall the last episode of her dreams, but no matter how much she tried to remember, She couldn't picture the scene.
In frustration and disappointment, She started to move her body and roll from my queen-sized bed, and looked up at the ceiling and saw the cute ceiling fan her father hung from last week's family move.
Her eyes are still adjusting to the new room even though she has been sleeping in that bed for almost one week; She touched her eyes and realized it was still swollen from her cry the previous night.
She didn't know why she felt so emotional, but she loved the life she left.
She can't believe she is 2,300 miles away from all the people they used to. Her father got an excellent opportunity to work in Starwood, Ashton City. Georgina knows she should be happy for her family. Her sister won't have to travel abroad to get a college degree because the city offers a good education.
Still, she was already attached to my old life. She didn't know how to start building her network again.
Georgina thought, It felt so strange not knowing her neighborhood. Her mother told her she shouldn't hide and to try to be friendly with everyone. Georgina knew she had to work on her attitude as she is still shy and reserved.
That's why she loves the life that she has. She has a few trusted friends, Amira, Marga, and Seth, and they get along well.
She heard her mother calling from downstairs, so she moved from the bed and went inside the bathroom. She could feel the cold water in her body and shiver but eventually, her skin adapted to the temperature.
She was enjoying the water and realized to move; She wondered what her school would look like. After the satisfying bath, Georgina grabs the towel from the headboard and wraps it around her wet body before going out, her eyes bulge are not that visible anymore from the mirror; she thought maybe it won't get noticed with some makeup and contour.
Sitting in a round pink chair with her favorite cushion, she picked up the pillow and threw it gauchely on her bed. She hurriedly finished her makeup in just 5 minutes and went down to the kitchen.
She saw her sister and parents already waiting for her. She didn't mind joining them but instead grabbed the sandwich and drank half of my milk and kissed everyone before heading outside the door. She heard her parents say something but she didn't understand it anymore.
Benjamin Clair was a huge school and she arrived earlier than she thought. She saw there were still a few students going inside the large gate in the school so she took her time walking the broad pavement, wandering her eyes from the school buildings. She was glad as it was comprehensive and modern and suddenly felt excited. It was far better than her old school.
Her eyes caught the first guy strolling towards her. His eyes are expressive, and he has a thick brow; Georgina can't keep her eyes away from him. He was a few feet away and she was looking in his eyes longer and suddenly, it was as if the world stopped for a second.
'Woaah what was that?' Georgina thought.
She didn't know why it happened and instantly felt guilty for looking too long in his direction. She turned away when he glanced back at her. When she felt his eyes were not on her anymore, she looked back at him; he was heading north, sure of his steps. She figures he is from the higher year since he seemed used to the whole place.
On her way to the main building, She saw a few students already; some gave her friendly smiles, and some didn't care. Georgina went to the basketball area. It was posted in the instructions that all students should head to the site for orientation.
She was comfortably sitting on one of the benches while her eyes caught the boy she met earlier. He was with a group, but looked unattached to any of them; his eyes were fixed on the floor, patiently waiting for the instructor. Georgia's thoughts shifted when someone called her attention.
" Pardon?" She asked the girl standing above her seat. " I'm sorry to interrupt your thoughts, but I was saying if I could sit beside you, the other group could be pretty loud," she said.
Georgina turned to the group of students the girl was speaking to. They also look disagreeable to her. She smiled and said, " Yeah, sure; my name is Georgina, grade 11 from section Amethyst.
"Really?" she heard the girl exclaim. Pamila introduced herself. "The names Pamila and I'm glad to know we are classmates." Georgina's smile widened as she motion her hand for highfive; it was good to know someone from her class, and Pamila looked nice. She thought they could get along. She looks like her vibe.
Her attention was diverted to her newfound friends; she didn't have any idea she had also caught Noah's attention on the other side and his eyes were fixed on her now.
Noah went to school earlier as he and his father argued earlier in their house. While heading to the school gate he saw a beautiful lady standing as if wandering obviously new to the school. She caught his attention because of her distinct beauty. And after he passed by her, he felt the world stop when he caught her eyes. Deja vu.
He looked at Georgina, he didn't know but something in her caught his attention but before he could feel anything he turned his head away in her direction.
Though he was not in the mood from his parents early nagging and fighting, he still try to look forward going to school. Ever since his mother had an affair he lost his respect for her, he was madder because his father knew about it and didn't even get surprised. After he saw his mother with another guy, he told his father about it right away but his reaction dismayed Noah as he didn't try to fix their problem.
Later he learned he was also having an affair with different women he met abroad. He shows it off to Noah one day when they are talking about his mother. It makes Noah disgust his family. If not for Pamila and Ryan he doesn't know how to move on. He remembers his father told him not to fall in love with anyone as it will only make him weak.
The orientation has ended, and the students are starting to head to the exit area.
Pamila is holding Georgina so that they won't get separated. The students are each rushing to the door because everyone doesn't want to be late in their class.
" hold my hand, this could be tough. Don't let go until we pass by this monster." Georgina laugh at Pamila's joke. She know she was kidding, but some students are irritating; they don't know how to wait. If they won't stop, it could cause a stompede anytime soon.
Georgina heard students fighting at her side but did not realize it would get big, before she knew it, one guy started to push the other guy and the other one stripped almost hitting Georgina's whole body, but Noah blocked his back and protected her before the guy could touch her skin.
Georgina turned on her side, facing Noah's face. She didn't know how he got next to her. Their face was so close, her heart was beating fast and her eyes were focused on his eyes. for a short time, she felt everything in slow motion again. All her senses awakened.
Her awareness returns when Pamila grabs her hand forward. She was pulling her forward until they were outside the basketball court. Georgina looked back to see the boy who helped her, but Pamila told her they would be late. " Let's go. Will be late."
She turned to her new friend, and they started to walk in the long corridor towards their room.
Pamila listened to George carefully after she told her what had happened earlier." I never felt like the world stopped when I met someone, how does it feel?" She asked.
" Maybe I'm just stressed". Georgia's short reply. Their conversation was interrupted when this first-class teacher arrived. After the first class, they moved to another room until they were done in their morning period class.
Pamila invited her to go to the corridor. When they arrived in the area, she saw a lot of different posts posted on the boards. She asked Pamila about it, and she said those are the list of activities and communities they can try when they are in school.
She asks her what her interests are.
" I love writing." George answered her usually.
" Really?" Pamila was surprised.
George smiled at her and asked her if she hadn't met any writer in her life before. Pamila is not looking at her when she answers,
"I love to write too.". It was George's turn to get surprised.
"Let's enroll in the writing club," George exclaimed excitedly. She was reading the details, excited to get into that club. She turned to her side, where Pamila was standing earlier, but she was gone.
George's head turned left from right, and she saw her walking ahead towards the basketball court area. She wonder why she got upset suddenly.
" Hey, wait up, Pam." George called Pamila's name
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you." Pamila looking serious.
" It is OK, no big deal, everything OK?" She wonders why the change in her mood.
Noah was standing near the basketball ring; he was already dressed in a basketball uniform. After a short while, the game had started.
Georgina's eyes caught Noah, he was focused on his game, she can't help but admire him. After he shoots the ball he waves in their direction. She turns to Pamila and asks if Noah waves at her. Pamila looked at her brother and nodded at Georgina.
Georgina stoned in her seat, fell quiet and regretted why she told Pamila about the guy she met in the gate earlier.
Pamila realized that Georgina was talking about Noah and blunted her suspicion.
" Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Is this Mr.gate guy you met is Noah, my brother?" Pamila asks her.
She put her hands and cover it to her mouth. 'Oh shoot, how much information and craziness did she tell her?' Georgina thought. Pamila was grinning when she didn't answer.
Noah turned his head back to his playmates and started to dribble the ball. His opponents aim to get the ball, but he moves fast, running to the other side and aiming to shoot the ball. The crowd in the basketball court applaud as he manages to get the ball inside the ring. Georgina looked at Pamila beside her, now quiet;
Down in the court, Noah looked at his sister and her new friend. He had been looking at his sister and the girl he met earlier, his eyes were following them ever since they arrived in the court.
Noah saw Pamila and her friend laughing and having fun together. He wondered what they were smiling about. His thoughts were shifted when his playmates called his name and passed the ball in his direction. He dribbles the ball again and aims for a three points shoot. The crowd applauded as he got to score again.
After they got out of the basketball court, Pamila started to tease Georgina, " the world suddenly stopped when your eyes met his huh?"
Georgina reddened wanted to disappear in the world.
She repeated her exact words. She was not used to being fun with and snapped at her friend." Come on, how can you be so rude." Georgina's eyes were almost teary. How can Pam be so heartless, can't she stop and give her a break already?"
Pamila only laughed harder when she saw her face.
She loves to see her like that, but she stopped when she saw she was really serious. She learn Georginas little flaw.
"What a small world." Her last sentence before she stops pestering Georgina.
Pamila looks at her face " Ice cream?" Georginas expressions change and answer. "Vanilla Fudge." And they went straight to the canteen.
Their other classmates, Marcus, Michaela, and Anna are already waiting for them in the seating area, they greeted their friends first before they ordered their ice cream.
When everyone was seated, Pamila started her story about Mr. Gate. She can't help herself.
Georgina knew she can't do anything about it to stop Pamila so she just smiles and scowls at her. Pamila didn't skip and left any word by the way.
If Georgina was not there, she might think her friend is capable of adding more to the story to make it more interesting.
Georgina was in her bedroom, lying in her bed. After their dinner, she went directly to her laptop to check her messages. She heard her mother reminding her not to take too long on the internet. It will cause damage to her eyes. She put both of her hands in her ears. Trying to block the sermon of her mother she hears every night.
She opened her social media account and saw her friends' messages. She tries to read each of them and reply as much as possible.
After responding to everyone, she started a video call to Amira and Marga, her two best friends back in Kansas City.
"Hi girls, I miss you so much. Thank you for your messages." Georgina started the conversation.
" G, we miss you so much already. I can't believe you are 2,300 miles away from us," Amira told her.
" It started to get boring here without you,'' Marga added.
The three girls continued their conversation until almost midnight when they talked about their first school day. They ask her about the boy she met, and she can't help but giggle. It was already midnight when she's done talking with her friends.
The following day, Georgina saw Pamila at the entrance and hurriedly approached her.
"Hi, good morning," Georgina greeted. " George, hi, good morning," Pamila replied, hugging her.
Georgina smiled. She was glad about Pamilas' bubbly personality. They were hugging each other when Noah came from the gate. He looks at her without emotion, but his eyes are still expressive even if he does that. She tensed in Pamilas embrace.
" What's wrong? You felt stiff.'' Pamila said.
" Oh, I'm sorry.'' She let go of their embrace and turned her face in the front to avoid Noah's eyes. She pretended she was not affected by his presence and asked Pamila about their homework. Before Pamila could answer, Noah spoke behind them.
" I'll go ahead in my classroom." and look at her. Pam realizes why she became conscious and remembers she has to introduce Georgina to her brother.
" Noe waits," she calls him and drags his arms toward Georgina. She introduced Georgina to him. Georgina didn't know what to do, it was not her first time talking to a guy, but he was different. She didn't understand why she weakened when he was around.
" Hi, I'm Georgina Witherspoon from Kansas City. I just moved here," Georgina buckled. She wanted to snap at herself at that time for being so naïve.
" Hi, Noah, Pam's brother." He smiled slightly, eyes fixed on her. Their conversation was cut when the bell rang.
" I got to go. It's nice meeting you, Georgina." Noah smiled before leaving them.
Pamila called Georgina's attention since she was still stuck with Noah. What is happening to me? She thought she had to get to her senses; every time she saw him, she felt like an idiot. She can't stay like that forever. She decided to have a clear mind.
"Hey, are you okay? Pamila asks her.
" Yeah, Yes, sure," Georgina tries to hide her embarrassment. She doesn't want her friend to think she was affected by her brother.
"Let's go?" she asks Pam.
" Let's go!" Pam repeated after she held her arms. They smiled at each other and started to head inside the building.
After the morning class, Pamila and Georgina eat their lunch in the canteen with their other classmates.
" Pam, is your brother aware he is a god here to some of the girls on the campus?" Marcus asks Pam.
Marcus is gay, and he talks to Pam while chewing his food while looking at Noah, so is Georgina. Georgina's eyes turned to Marcus before it came back to Noah.
Noah was eating his lunch across their table,
She turned her eyes away when he looked in her direction; she didn't want to get caught, so she put on to focus on her food.
"Nah, he is not. He was just normal. All those girls will run away once they know him," Pamila talked nonchalantly.
Everyone at the table laughs at her apparent sibling war. Georgina smiled and continued eating her food silently.
The crowd in the canteen went silent when Amanda came inside the room with her two friends behind her back. The three girls went directly to Noah and sat beside him.
Georgina looked around the canteen, and she observed everyone was looking in their direction, so she followed her eyes to them.
Amanda greeted Noah, and he smiled back at the girl politely. Amanda gave him some of her food on her plate, Noah tried to stop her, but she insisted. He accepted her food and continued eating. His friends at the table started to tease him. Some boys are obviously into Amanda.
Amanda smiled in triumph and almost giggled, facing her friends, she started eating, and everyone was back to doing what they did.
" Who is she?" Georgina can't help herself to ask.
" She is Amanda Harris; she is very popular, she has a huge following in her Twitter and Youtube channel," Michaela replied. Georgina observed her face was sour.
" You look like you don't like her, Mic," Georgina concluded.
" I sure don't," she briefly replied.
She didn't ask any further, but she was sure something had happened terribly in the past, so she just continued to eat her food.
Georgina felt thirsty, so she moved to the counter and got more drinks, she didn't know what had happened, but another student started to move around, not watching his step, and bumped her back. Georgina didn't know Noah was already in her side, so she fell flat in Noah's body, his back on the floor, and their lips touched slightly from their position.
'Is this happening' Georgina thought as their lips touched?
She felt a tingling sensation. She realized their awkward position and hurried to stand before unwittingly brushing her lips; she felt her mouth dry and left Noah hurriedly without looking back.
Noah shakes his head, turning his head in Georgina's direction; he is sometimes amazed at her reaction when they are together.
The kid who hit Georgina asked sorry, Noah. He looked around the place and smiled at him. "It's fine; you did a good job, thanks."
The boy looked confused as Noah tapped his shoulder.
