Chapter 1 No.1

Nira's POV:

"7342, grab your stuff!"

The guard banged on the iron bars, waved a stack of papers in his hand, and added sharply, "Your release just came through. You'll be out in ten minutes. Get to the registration desk for processing."

I looked up just in time to see his back as he walked away.

Five years. And finally, that steel door was opening-for me.

Honestly, ever since my wolf, Lyra, fully awakened three months ago, I could've shattered this place and walked out any time I wanted.

But I stayed. I wanted to see how long the Sorens thought they could keep playing their little game.

I ran my thumb across a faint scar in my palm-left there the day I risked my life to save the woman they told me was my birth mother. A witch's claws did that.

That was the day I nearly died. And Lyra, my wolf soul, went into hibernation trying to keep me alive.

Losing my wolf made me worthless in their eyes. To the Blazeborn Pack's ruling family, I was supposed to be a rightful heir, the blood daughter who'd finally returned home. But the moment they learned I had no wolf, I became nothing more than a disposable burden-an embarrassment they were eager to get rid of, a convenient scapegoat when things went wrong.

They threw me into this hellhole to take the fall.

Clang! Clang! The doors groaned open on both sides of me, the blinding sunlight slicing through the dark. I squinted against it.

Behind me, a wave of muffled crying broke out in the cell block.

I turned just enough to see them-those high-ranking wolves who'd once terrorized the other inmates, now trembling, sobbing, clutching their heads.

"The demon's finally gone! Thank God! We can breathe again!"

I smirked but didn't look back.

After Lyra woke up, my powers came back. And they should be thankful I'd learned to rein in my fangs and keep most of my strength hidden, or I might have ripped their throats out the moment they started preying on the weak.

As soon as I stepped out, Lyra growled. She'd picked up a scent she hated.

I looked up. And there he was-Aven Soren, standing next to a black sedan, cigarette in hand.

The moment our eyes met, his brows pulled together, annoyed.

"Nira?" he called, like my name was something he wanted to spit out.

I gave him two seconds. Maybe less. Then I looked away.

He was nothing. Just another one of the people who helped shove me off a cliff. Might as well have been a crack in the sidewalk.

"What? It's been so long you don't even recognize your own brother?" Aven sneered, stepping closer with a patronizing frown.

"I don't have a brother who leaves his sister to rot in prison for five years," I replied evenly, my voice icy and devoid of warmth. "Why are you here, Aven? Did your precious Janice refuse whatever marriage arrangement the family cooked up, so you suddenly remembered you had another sister?"

Aven reacted as if I had struck a nerve. His face darkened instantly, his eyes blazing as he shouted, "Janice would never be paired with someone like-"

He stopped abruptly, swallowing the rest of his words.

Realizing he had almost let something slip, he forced himself to calm down, straightened his collar, cleared his throat, and put that familiar look of superiority back on his face.

"Janice's mate will be personally chosen by Mom, Dad, and us," he said coldly. "That's none of your concern."

Then his voice hardened even more. "You just need to follow the arrangements we've made for you."

My eyes narrowed slightly, my nails pressing into my palm without me realizing it. So this mating really was suspicious.

Inside my mind, Lyra grew restless, sending waves of sharp unease and warning through my body.

The Sorens had no intention of protecting me. To them, I was just the useless biological daughter, a bargaining chip they could trade away to protect their own interests.

Fine. I let out a quiet, cold laugh in my mind.

Five years locked away had stripped me of any illusions. I wasn't the naive girl they used to push around.

This time, I was back with Lyra's power burning inside me. I was here to take back what was mine and make every single one of them-everyone who had ever hurt me-pay for it.

This mating? It would be the first move in my revenge.

Chapter 2 No.2

Nira's POV:

The car bumped along the road, and the closer we got to the estate, the sharper the memories came into focus.

I was the Sorens' real daughter, born of their blood. But the moment I lost my wolf, they saw me as nothing but a stain on the family name-an embarrassment, a failure, someone no longer worth keeping.

Janice had the luxury suite, decorated like a palace. I got the leftover maid's quarters.

She wore custom gowns from elite designers overseas. I had a handful of faded, outdated pieces-clothes she didn't want anymore and had already thrown out.

For five years, in that prison, through endless nights swallowed in darkness, I lived with nothing but regret.

I regretted saving Jenna's life, only to discover she was my birth mother. At the time, Lyra had been injured and barely hanging on. Still, I was stupid enough to run to the Blazeborn Pack, thinking I'd finally found home.

I regretted clinging to that fragile connection, hoping that shared blood could mean something. Letting them abuse me, watching Janice plot against me again and again, and saying nothing.

What I regretted most was believing their lies, the promise that if I stayed quiet for a while, they would eventually treat me right. Instead, they locked me away in an institution, where I spent five years being broken down and abused, all because I didn't have a wolf.

Before I was dragged back to the Sorens, I was raised under the care and guidance of my adoptive Alpha father in the Silvermoon Pack.

I wasn't just protected. I was his chosen Alpha heir. I lived a life most wolves could only dream of-respected, well-trained, and never once denied what I needed.

I took a deep breath, forcing down the storm inside me.

The car rolled through the gates of the Soren estate. The mansion looked the same, but to me, it felt like some distant, hollow shell. Whatever warmth it used to hold was long gone.

This time, I wasn't coming back as the naive girl desperate for love and family. That girl was gone. Lyra had awakened, and I wasn't here to beg. I was here to take back everything they stole from me. And anyone who owed me-was going to pay in full.

I stepped out of the car, cold and composed, and walked through the estate's front drive.

On the way in, I passed clusters of house staff. Even the Omega maids didn't bother hiding the disdain in their eyes as they looked me up and down like I didn't belong.

They whispered and snickered, their gazes landing on the cheap, worn-out striped shirt I had on.

Aven tossed a shopping bag at me with a smirk. He said Janice had "graciously" picked out some clothes for me, in case I had nothing to wear. He told me I had to change before stepping inside.

I didn't even glance at it. Just raised my hand and threw it aside.

"You little-" Aven's wolf eyes flared as he lifted his hand to slap me.

But I was ready. I grabbed his wrist mid-air, fast and clean. Lyra's strength surged through my fingers, and with a twist, Aven cried out in pain. His eyes widened in shock.

"Touch me again, Aven, and I won't just sprain your wrist-I'll snap it," I whispered, shoving him backward so hard he stumbled against the sedan.

Leaving him clutching his arm in furious disbelief, I turned and strode through the massive double doors of the mansion.

The grand sitting room was just as ostentatious as I remembered. Sitting on the plush velvet sofa was Jenna, draped in fine silks, with Janice perched beside her like an angelic princess. At the head of the polished oak table sat Damon Soren, his imposing Alpha aura radiating outward.

The moment I stepped inside, Jenna's face twisted into an expression of sheer disgust.

"Look at you," Jenna hissed, standing up and smoothing her diamond necklace. "Dressed like a common beggar. Did you learn nothing in that facility? You're a biological daughter of the Blazeborn Pack, yet you carry yourself like filth. You should be down on your knees thanking us for taking you back."

She paused, taking a breath, and glanced at Damon, who picked up where she left off.

"In a couple days, we're taking you to the Howell banquet. Don't embarrass us. This marriage is something we worked hard to arrange for you. Screw it up, and we'll have no problem sending you back where you came from."

"Something you arranged for me?"

I looked right at her and let the words drip with sarcasm. "Let's be honest. You're just trying to use me to protect the Sorens, throwing me to the wolves so the rest of you come out clean."

Janice sat perfectly posed on the couch, fingers twisting nervously in her dress, eyes wide like she couldn't believe I dared talk back.

Then she softened her expression and spoke in that sugar-sweet tone she always used when pretending to care, "Nira, how can you say that? Everything they've done is for your own good. Getting to marry into the Howell family, an Alpha King bloodline, that's something people would kill for. You should be grateful."

I turned to her, smiled coldly. "Oh yeah? Then why don't you take my place? You want it so bad, it's all yours."

Janice paled instantly. Her eyes darted to Damon and Jenna, lips trembling like she had something to say but couldn't get it out.

"Don't start your nonsense again!"

Damon slammed the table so hard the wine glasses shook. His eyes burned into mine, all Alpha command and fury. "This decision is final. You don't get a say."

Then he leaned forward, dropping his voice but not his threat. "You want the whole pack to see those videos? You want everyone in Blazeborn to know what a disgrace you were? What a pathetic, wolfless failure you are? No? Then you better fall in line."

Chapter 3 No.3

Nira's POV:

Damon's words hit like a blade, sharp and deliberate, slicing straight into my ears.

My body started to shake-not from fear, but from the sheer effort it took to stop Lyra from breaking through and tearing him to pieces.

My fists were clenched tight, nails digging into my palms until the taste of blood filled my mouth. But that pain meant nothing, not compared to five years of hell behind bars, or the relentless torment that came every second my wolf was forced into silence.

Lyra was thrashing inside my mind, howling with rage. I bit down hard on my lower lip, keeping the scream buried deep in my throat.

Damon saw me trembling and actually smiled, satisfied. His voice was cold and firm. "You're not going anywhere this week. Stay home, get yourself ready, and don't screw this up."

I kept my head low, but hate surged in my chest. My fists tightened again.

He really thought that little piece of leverage was enough to keep me in line. I couldn't wait to prove him wrong.

A scornful stare hit me like a slap. It was Janice.

She was eyeing my worn-out shirt with obvious disgust, then turned to Aven with mock concern.

"Aven, didn't I tell you to give my clothes to Nira?"

Jenna's face soured immediately, full of judgment. "Janice offered you her clothes and you still insist on dressing like that? Are you trying to humiliate this family?"

"She threw them out!" Aven jumped in, his voice full of contempt as he cradled his wrist. "She did it on purpose. Just wants to play the victim and guilt-trip us."

The room turned cold. Every single person looked at me like I was the problem.

No one asked why I threw them away. No one cared about the pity sewn into those clothes or the condescension behind the offer.

That was my reality. Birth parents who bent over backward for their adopted daughter while treating me like I was nothing but a burden.

"Change. Now," Damon commanded, slamming his hand against the table once more.

I let out a quiet, mocking breath and headed up the stairs. Behind me, I heard Janice whispering to Jenna, her voice sweet and venomous.

"Once she's married into the Howells, they'll have ways to break her."

I didn't stop walking, but my lips curled into a cold smile. Janice, marrying into the Howells was never the end. It was where everything started.

I slammed my bedroom door shut behind me, sealing out the fake concern and toxic air downstairs.

I took a long breath and let everything settle. My mind finally cleared.

Damon really believed that video gave him control over me?

Let him keep believing it. Playing weak was part of the setup.

I had come back for one reason-those recordings.

Not because I feared them getting out, but because I needed to destroy every single copy with my own hands. And when I did, every last person who filmed them, who hurt me, would pay in blood.
