Sarah Miller, the uncredited engineering genius and 65% majority shareholder of NextGen Innovations, knew this meeting at a high-end Silicon Valley steakhouse was pivotal, poised to secure a game-changing deal with Synapse Corp's CEO, a company she allowed her husband, Mike, to publicly lead. Just as the deal was nearing completion, Mike stumbled through the restaurant entrance, visibly incoherent and draped over his executive assistant, Chloe Sanders, who was clinging to him and cackling, making a spectacle for the entire power-lunch crowd. Spotting Sarah, Mike's drunken bravado twisted into pure accusation, shouting, "Sarah! What are you doing here? Spying on me?", while Chloe chimed in with, "She just gets so insecure, you know?", turning a critical business negotiation into a humiliating public circus. A cold knot of disbelief and fury tightened in Sarah's stomach, as she watched the deal of a lifetime, years of her relentless efforts, and her professional integrity crumble because of her husband's grotesque betrayal and his assistant's conniving insolence. As Mr. Peterson raised an eyebrow in polite concern and Chloe audaciously lashed out at him directly, Sarah made a decision: she looked Mike dead in the eye and, her voice devoid of all emotion, declared, "We need to talk. At home. About a divorce."

Chapter 1

Sarah Miller adjusted her blazer, her gaze fixed on Mr. James Peterson, CEO of Synapse Corp.

They were at The Bull & Bear, a high-end Silicon Valley steakhouse.

The restaurant buzzed with quiet power lunches, but Sarah' s focus was absolute.

"Our core technology," Sarah explained, her voice calm and clear, "can integrate seamlessly with Synapse's existing infrastructure, boosting efficiency by at least thirty percent."

Mr. Peterson leaned forward, a glint of interest in his eyes. "Impressive, Ms. Miller. Very impressive."

This partnership was crucial for NextGen Innovations, the company Sarah had poured her life into.

She was the uncredited co-founder, the majority shareholder with 65%, the brains behind it all.

Publicly, she was just the Lead Developer.

Her husband, Michael "Mike" Miller, was the CEO, a title she' d given him to boost his fragile confidence.

Just as Mr. Peterson was about to elaborate on his interest, a commotion near the entrance broke Sarah' s concentration.

Mike stumbled in, leaning heavily on his executive assistant, Chloe Sanders.

He was visibly drunk, his tie askew, his laughter too loud.

Chloe, clinging to him, giggled, her hand resting a little too long on his arm.

Their behavior was grossly inappropriate, a spectacle for the entire restaurant.

Sarah felt a cold knot tighten in her stomach.

Mike spotted her, his eyes narrowing.

Instead of shame, his face twisted into accusation. "Sarah! What are you doing here? Spying on me?"

Chloe chimed in, her voice saccharine but sharp. "She just gets so insecure, you know?"

Sarah' s blood ran cold. This was a disaster.

Mr. Peterson raised an eyebrow, his expression shifting from interest to polite concern.

"Sarah, is everything alright?" he asked, his tone supportive.

Before Sarah could respond, Chloe whirled on him. "Who do you think you are, old man? Sticking your nose where it doesn' t belong?"

The potential deal, Sarah' s hard work, hung by a thread.

Sarah stood, her professional composure a mask over her fury.

"Chloe," she said, her voice low but firm, "you will apologize to Mr. Peterson. Now."

Chloe scoffed. "Make me."

Sarah didn't hesitate. She took a step towards Chloe. "This isn't a request."

She felt a profound shift inside her. This was the end of something.

She looked at Mike, his face a blur of confusion and alcohol.

Then, she turned back to Mr. Peterson. "Mr. Peterson, I apologize for this interruption."

To Mike, she said, her voice devoid of emotion, "We need to talk. At home. About a divorce."

Chapter 2

Chloe Sanders stared back at Sarah, a smirk playing on her lips. "You can't tell me what to do."

Sarah' s composure didn't crack. "I can, and I am."

She moved with a swiftness that surprised everyone, including herself.

Sarah gripped Chloe's arm, her fingers digging in just enough to convey her seriousness.

"You will apologize to Mr. Peterson, or I will remove you from this restaurant myself."

Chloe' s eyes widened, the smirk faltering. She tried to pull away, but Sarah's hold was like iron.

The entire restaurant seemed to hold its breath.

Mike mumbled something incoherent, swaying slightly.

"Apologize," Sarah repeated, her voice a quiet command that cut through the tension.

Chloe, seeing the absolute resolve in Sarah' s eyes, finally mumbled a grudging, "Sorry," towards Mr. Peterson, her gaze fixed on the floor.

Sarah released her. "Now leave."

Chloe shot a venomous glare at Sarah before practically fleeing the steakhouse.

Mr. Peterson watched the exchange, a thoughtful expression on his face.

He turned to Sarah. "Ms. Miller, your decisiveness is... remarkable. My offer to discuss the partnership still stands. Perhaps under more favorable circumstances."

He handed her his card. "Call me when you've sorted this out."

Sarah nodded, a small, grateful smile touching her lips. "Thank you, Mr. Peterson. I will."

After Mr. Peterson left, Sarah faced Mike. He looked pathetic, his drunken bravado gone, replaced by a dawning fear.

"Sarah, baby, I can explain," he started.

"Don't," Sarah cut him off. "You think this is about jealousy, Mike? You think I'm upset because you were with Chloe?"

She let out a short, humorless laugh. "That's the least of it."

Her voice dropped, becoming cold and sharp. "You humiliated me. You jeopardized my company. Our company. But mostly, my company."

"I didn't mean..."

"You're a liability, Mike," Sarah stated, her words precise. "You're like a cheap, malfunctioning component in a high-performance system. It' s time to remove it before it causes a total system crash."

She picked up her purse. "I meant what I said. I want a divorce."

Mike stared at her, his mouth agape, the implications finally sinking through the alcoholic haze. "Sarah, no, please..."

She walked away, leaving him standing alone in the now quiet, judgmental space of The Bull & Bear.
