Forced entanglement with my boss

Amelia's pov

My thin silhouette stood at the entrance of the company admiring the sight in front of me. I still can't believe that I am able to achieve my long time dream of working here.

The smiths group is not only known as the highest paying company in the city, they are also known for taking good care of their workers and here I am about to resume as the CEO's secretary.

I arranged my black pencil skirt which was paired with a neat white blazer and red stiletto heels then made my way to the elevator.

My palms were sweaty as I suddenly got nervous because the media has rumored the CEO as being cold and ruthless .

By the time we got to the last floor, which is where the CEO's office is situated, there were only three of us remaining in the elevator and we all made our way out of the elevator without sparing each other a glance.

I headed to the CEO's office which was pointed to me during the interview. Even though I was recommended by my college as the best man of the year,I was still made to pass through necessary procedures before I got recruited .

I haven't met the CEO before, he was on a trip when I came for the interview but I met his personal assistant who showed me around the company after they conducted a successful interview for me.

I paused to admire the beautiful aesthetic. In Front of the CEO'S office, the office exterior was made of translucent glass which looks so delicate like it will break if you touch it. Not wanting to waste more time,I pressed the notification bell and a voice came from inside.

" Come in," the husky deep voice that can take anyone's breath away came from the office and I carefully pushed the door before I entered fully.

" How may I help you," he questioned coldly, not taking his eyes off the laptop. I was short of response because of the cold aura emanating from his body.

" Can't you introduce yourself or Are you here to stand there?" He took his eyes off his computer and looked at me briefly.

" Hello sir, I am Amelia and I am your new secretary," I managed to introduce myself as his cold gaze pierced into my soul and my heart skipped a bit.

" The one they just hired? And you are already making me repeat myself, I hope you last here,'' he shifted his gaze and continued to work on his laptop. I probably forgot to mention that his secretaries don't last long.

He swerved his chair a bit to the right where the intercom was. " Tell Roy to get in here," he commanded and dropped the phone.

A knock came on almost immediately and his personal assistant entered.

" You requested for me sir," the man who I suppose is Roy entered.

" Is the new secretary's office ready?"

" No sir, I didn't know that she was going to be resuming work early," Roy answered with an apologetic bow.

" Seems like you are tired of your job, I give you 30 minutes to make necessary preparations. Settle down on the couch before they finish with the arrangement," he said to me after condemning his personal assistant's non challant act.

I settled on the couch that I didn't notice was there because of nervousness. Now that I am less tense, I used the opportunity to admire the interior of the office.

He has a great taste I must say. The office is painted in white color that is well maintained and it's touched up with gold which added a hint of elegance to the office. Infact, everything in the office screams richness.

Before I knew it, thirty minutes had passed and the personal assistant was done with all the necessary arrangements.

We both made our way out of the office and he guided me to where my office space was among my other colleagues.

" Hello everyone this is Amelia, she is the CEO's new secretary and she will be working here with you. Please welcome her and treat her well," Roy encouraged, then faced me to give me some instructions.

" So this is your office, this is your official laptop where you will read and answer mails, the instructions to follow are on this ipad. Make sure you read and digest them before tomorrow ," He instructed carefully then passed me a brand new silver apple laptop and iPad.

" The CEO will contact you through the intercom when he needs you," he added then exited the office.

I thanked him fervently then arranged my stuff on my table. The office is located right across the CEO's office, the CEO can see the activities going on outside but workers can't see what is going on inside the CEO's office.

I was done with arranging my stuff in a flash then I settled down to read the instructions.

" You must make a coffee for the CEO every morning," the first one read and I quote.

" The CEO doesn't take milk because he is lactose intolerant therefore milk shouldn't be added to his coffee," I read the second line and I scoffed. This man is too principled but nevertheless I continued to digest the instructions.

I was still going through the long list of dos and don'ts when a pretty woman with a short bob entered.

" Seems like we have a new employee here," she said to me cheerfully.

" Hello, I am Linda and I am the head of office here. I was out on a visit when you arrived so I haven't done a proper introduction... if you need or you have any question please let me know," she concluded and went to her seat.

I didn't notice an empty space before her arrival but now that I took a quick glance around, I noticed that we are six in this space and everyone was doing a good job at minding their business. I was still trying to figure out more things that I didn't notice before when the intercom on my table rang.

" Hello, come to my office now!" The call hung up before I could even answer. What the hell!

Amelia's pov

I hurried myself to his office door not wanting to annoy him especially since today is my first day of resuming work. I placed a knock on his door and he permitted me to enter.

" Have you gone through the instructions?" He questioned with an eyebrow raise.

" Yes sir, I am still going through it," I replied professionally.

" I don't like my worker lazing around. Do you know that? Anyways it is not my duty to tell you that. Get me a warm cup of coffee," he instructed without a care in the world .

" I have just ten minutes to spare, else don't resume tomorrow," he said coldly and I was shocked by what he just said. I just resumed today and he is already discouraging me.

" I will be back soon sir," I assured then he waved his hand lazily at me to disperse me. I caught sight of the expensive Hublot wristwatch on his fair wrist and I was awed, it's custom made for him with his initials on the wristband. He is indeed rich

I hurried to the company's kitchen to get his preference for him. I hurried myself so as to meet up with his time and at the same time follow the instructions given.

" Here is your coffee sir," I dropped the coffee on his table then took out my face wipes to wipe the bead of sweat that threatened to fall on the floor.

" I hope you didn't forget not to add milk," he said with a questioning gaze and I hurriedly nodded my head like a lizard.

He took a sip but spat it out almost immediately.

" Didn't you read it in the instructions given? It was clearly stated that you should add only a cube of sugar in my coffee? Why is it so sweet?" He fumed at me and I held my breath hoping he wouldn't fire me because of this.

" I... I am still reading it sir," I stammered picking at my nails.

" How many cubes did you even add to the coffee?" He questioned

" Four cubes sir," I replied, who the hell adds a cube of sugar to coffee if not my boss. Won't it even be bitter ?

" You added four cubes? Get this rubbish away from me and make me a fresh one," he pushed the cup filled with coffee towards me then used a wipe to clean his mouth before trashing it in the bin.

I walked out of his office and fumed at his action. It's just my first day in office and he is already stressing me this much. Is it even my job to make coffee for him?

I drank the whole coffee in a go and carefully prepared another one to his satisfaction. I returned back to his office hoping that he won't have any complaints with this one.

" Here it is sir," I dropped the coffee on the table.

" Hope you followed the instructions properly on this one, I won't tolerate any form of lagging," he said and gently sipped the coffee.

" It's not bad," he acknowledged and I released the breath that I didn't know I was holding.

" Check my meal plan for today and place an order for my lunch at my regular restaurant" he added and I left the office after receiving his loads of instructions.

I grumbled to my office making sure my voice was as low as possible.

' Why is he so principled? No wonder his previous secretaries don't last,' I thought to myself and hissed.

I checked his meal plan and I saw that today's meal was a light weight meal. I placed an order for his main meal, appetizer and dessert then proceeded to the dining room for my own lunch.

The JG group has a kitchen which provides free lunch for all staff, they prepare a variety of meals and you get to select the one you want.

" Please can I have stir fried pasta," I said to the server and I proceeded to get my dessert and appetizer. I was about to proceed to my dining table when I came across the person I least expected here.

" Look who we have here," April said with an ugly scowl with her face plastered with heavy makeup. I wonder how she got employed here, She has always been such a pain in the ass. We attended the same college and she was always looking for ways to get me in trouble.

I always try my best to avoid her, I spared her a dirty glance and walked out on her to an empty seat.

" Did you just walk out on me?" She followed me and asked angrily but was still ignored by me. I glanced at my wristwatch at intervals so as not to spend too much time here.

" I can see that you are now full of yourself, you are now an employee here so you have grown wings," she continued to downgrade me.

" What exactly do you want from me? Can you just let me eat in peace?" I was fed up at this point, today is just a bad day for me. I barely escaped being sacked on my first day at work and here I am again.

" We will meet again, I won't let you go easily," she declared and arrogantly matched away from my table.

I hurried my food while scrolling through my phone trying to gather some news when a mail notification entered.

List of the CEO's schedule was sent to me by his personal assistant and I opened it to check what it contained.

He has several meetings to attend with different companies and some contracts to sign as well.

I dropped my plates and cutlery in the necessary place then returned back to my office to note down his schedule.

Amelia's pov

Knock! Knock! knock!I didn't wait for his response before I entered.

" Who permitted you to enter?" I met with his cold gaze and shivered unconsciously.

" Uhn, sir," I panicked, not knowing how to relate this information to him.

" Get down to business or else get the fuck out of here," he said which made me fidget where I was standing.

" Sir, you have a meeting with Global enterprise in ten minutes time," I managed to speak out, not able to glance at his face.

" And you are just informing me? Which kind of incompetent secretary are you?!" He growled angrily at me and the temperature of the room instantly lowered and I could feel chills emanating from his body.

" I am sorry sir, I just got the mail from your personal assistant," I bowed apologetically.

" It was clearly stated in the instructions given to you that I should be informed at least thirty minutes prior to my meeting, you have only a chance left to redeem yourself else you will be fired," he said casually and waved me off

" Get me William on your way out," he instructed and I left the office.

" Boss needs your attention," I mumbled to him, not caring whether he heard me or not. At least he was the one that landed me in trouble inside there, I just had a narrow escape.

I made my way back to my office and a petite girl with an innocent look walked up to me.

" Hello, my name is Gracie," she said to me shyly.

" Yh, hello. I guess you know my name," she nodded her head gently and I couldn't help but smile at her actions, she is so adorable.

I settled down on my chair, I don't have the intention of making new friends but she doesn't look like a bad person.

" I am Mrs Linda's assistant," she said, trying to bring up a conversation. It was clear that I wasn't interested in any conversation but I still managed to smile at her in acknowledgement.

" You must be so lucky to be working close to the CEO," she assumed and I scoffed at her thought. I am rather unlucky to be working with him in fact I am already fed up with his nagging.

I can't wait for work to end today so I can drag my tired self home. ' You cannot close from work without getting the approval of the CEO, rather you can only leave after he closes from work,' that particular clause rang in my head and I hit my head in frustration.

" Ish," I slumped back on the chair, wishing I didn't take up this job offer in the first instance.

" Is anything the problem? What are you thinking about?" The tiny yet curious voice of Gracie interrupted my thoughts and I smiled at her to show her that I am totally fine.

" So how is your first day working with the CEO like?" She was further persuaded.

I really wanted to express my thoughts and tell her how boring and frustrating it's but I didn't.

" It's been good so far," I lied hoping she would just let me be.

" Is he nice? I heard a rumor that his secretaries don't last more than a week, the only one that stayed for long only lasted two weeks," she gossiped with a low voice. I was about to reply to her when my intercom rang.

" Come to my office," the voice commanded and hung up. Who else does that other than my cold boss.

I was gradually getting used to his domineering nature so I went to his office.

" You and I will be going out to finalize a business deal, get ready and meet me in the parking lot," he said to me, not taking his eye off the document that he was reading.

I got back to my office then I realized that Gracie had already left my seat. I packed up my bag then made my way to the parking lot

" Bye," Gracie said to me as I made my way out of the office and I waved back at her.

I don't even know his car but I still made my way to the underground parking lot. I was lost admiring high end car brands that were parked In the parking lot when a cold voice spoke behind me.

" Are you done admiring the cars? Or you still want to waste my time?" It was as if a cold water was splashed on me and I immediately apologized for wasting his time.

We both proceeded to where his car was and I was awed by the sight In Front of me. Beautiful is an understatement for how gorgeous this car looks.

It is a limited edition black Rolls Royce sport car, the exterior looks so clean and classy.

" Get in, we have only a few minutes to get to the location," he said and entered the passenger seat, I followed suit then the driver joined us and we zoomed off.

" Hello sir, you are welcome," a man welcomed us at the hotel entrance.

" Where is he?" He questioned him, ignoring the man's greeting.

They spoke in low voices for a few seconds then we proceeded to enter the hotel. I bowed to the man slightly then ran after my boss.

We walked through the hallway and stopped In Front of a private room. A chubby man with a round pot belly was waiting for us inside the room.

" Good evening sir, My name is Brian Smith and I am the CEO of Smiths group. It's nice meeting you," my boss introduced and they exchanged a warm handshake.

The man moved on to me, giving me a creepy look that I didn't feel comfortable with. He faced my boss and spoke to him, " Do you mind introducing this gorgeous lady that you came with?"

" Her name is Amelia and she is my new secretary," he explained to the fatty man.

" Hi Amelia, nice to meet you. You look so gorgeous," he offered me a handshake which I returned with a professional smile.

" Thanks for your compliment sir," I managed to say and tried to remove my hand from his hand.

" Excuse me, What is going on?" The cold voice of my boss came to my rescue.
