Chapter 1 Asunder

A young adult man around his early twenties threaded on a field of fine loamy soil, watering the beautiful red roses that grew from its depth.

In a few seconds, a fine young lady around his age came through the backyard and sits on the pavement of the bungalow. She wore a contagious smile with the warmthness of the sun brightening her face.

"Need help?"

He turned around with a degree of shock, it seems he didn't see her come in. "No, I'm almost done."

He stood up stretching his waist while relieving his eyes on the fineness of the garden at the same time. "My mom would have loved this. She used to force me to help her out in the garden everytime."

He walked towards her and took a seat near her. "I miss them you know...my parents. They were gone too early."

She gently rested her head on his shoulders, "You have me now, Neo."

Suddenly a loud bang took the silence. It's the sound of a door crushing down.

Neo jumped up on his feet in alert and picked up a shovel to guard the backyard door. "Ava, stay behind me."

Confused, she walked behind him, with her eyes desperately scanning the closed door for what is to come.

Bam! The door is kicked open by a muscular man. In the same instance a dozen of men poured in and grabbed Neo putting his face down on the ground while Ava stood in their midst surprised at the person who came in last. "Hendrix, what're you doing here?"

"I warned you didn't I? You can either be my Luna by choice, or by force. Grab her," he ordered the men who grabbed both her hands and pinned her to the ground.

Hendrix gave off a mischievous smile at Neo and then approached Ava, loosening his belt.

"No!" Like a Lion's roar Neo's voice echoed through the wind while he jumped up on his feets and twisted a man's neck in mere seconds. However, the man behind him immediately stabbed him with a syringe containing some lethal liquid. Neo fell to the ground like his soul has left him.

At this point, Ava is out of options. She quickly utilized the only part of her that was not in captivity; her mouth. She screamed and cried, as she could not escape their grip.

"Don't worry sweetheart, it'd all be over soon," Hendrix dropped his trousers.

...

Hours later, as the sun slowly crawled out of the sky about to abolish the evening atmosphere, Neo opened his eyes and gradually got up from the ground.

At first he soothed his arm, the exact area where the syringe has been stabbed, but then his brain recalled the incident. "Ava," he turned around bearing the pain of a failed man and rushed into the house to pick up his car keys.

Hendrix is the alpha's heir, so naturally he would be driving into his own grave. But it seemed as if Neo was prepared to pick a fight with the devil if he had to.

As soon as he picked his car keys, his phone ringed. It was Ava's number. Without letting even a millisecond slide by he picked up the phone with hasty fingers and answered.

"Ava, where are you?"

"Hello. There's a woman here being thrown around by some big men. Her phone fell down, I thought I should call for help," a voice echoed from the other end of the phone.

Neo hurried out of the house and headed to his car, "Where are they?" He questioned desperately.

"The Atlas hotel."

As soon as the words leaved the man's mouth he started his car engine and drove off in speed.

Today Neo didn't cosplay as a good citizen, neither was he conscious of any other vehicle on the road. His speedometer ran all the way up with his steering wheel withstanding constant turnarounds.

His driving lessons has escaped his mind while the desire to beat the speed of light came to dominate him.

Sooner than ever, he arrived at the hotel and held a quick brake. By now the night sky has overshadowed the area but this wasn't an excuse for the hotel exterior to be as quiet as it is.

He got off his car and raced into it regardless but is soon greeted with the same fate on the inside, an empty building. Still yet persisted. "Ava?" He yelled on top of his voice. "Ava?"

Suddenly all the lights went off and the emergency lights started blinking on and off.

"You should have stayed home, boy," a cold masculine voice echoed through the wind.

"Where is she?" Neo turned around looking for whence the voice came from.

"Oh, your little Ava? The Alpha heir wants her. All you can do now is cry."

"She is my mate," Neo yelled in annoyance.

"So what? You think the moon goddess will come down and fight for you?"

"Oh I intend to fight for myself," he replied.

"Quit the brave act, kid. You've been set up," the man came out of the shadows and stood some inches behind Neo. "He would have just killed you, but he wanted to break Ava's love for you first."

Neo turned around sharply as he noticed someone behind him and assumed a battle stance.

"No need to fight, it's over," the old man calmed him. "Evil will always win against good. You see good is too careful not to hurt the innocent, but Hendrix, he doesn't care if she gets hurt. He raped her, and he's still gonna have her. And as soon as he despises her he'd throw her out of his sight, or simply end her life then pick another whore."

"I don't want lectures from you, old man," Neo shushed him. "Are you gonna tell me where she is? Or die trying to hide it."

The old man chuckled for a second, "Your father was a good fighter, I'd let him do the lecturing."

Dark fog suddenly overwhelmed the room keeping the old man out of sight. Even Neo couldn't see his own self.

"Show yourself, Moonshadow," he yelled out the man's name.

In a short while, the fog cleared with the area suddenly changing. An uncountable number of dead civilians and cops lay on the floor with their blood flooring on the ground like a small stream.

Neo took three steps backwards in shock but then he sees blood all over his hands. The clock ticked with more and more confusing occurrences overawing Neo's mind.

He soon realized that his cloth is soaked in blood and everyone of his fingernails had little bit of human flesh in them. He raised his own hands slowly and stared at his palm like they were someone else's.

Suddenly the cacophony of sirens filled the area with their lights blinking on and off like Christmas trees.

"This is NYPD, put down your weapons and come out of the building with your hands up," a voice rebounds through a speaker.

"I repeat..."

Neo's mind blurred cutting out the rest of the cop's statement. He fell on his knees with his eyes popping wide open. His breathing intensified, with his mouth exhaling air alongside his nose.

In a second the cops poured into the building in their numbers. Seeing him motionless, one of them smashed his nightstick against the back of Neo's skull, watching him fall to the ground like a bag of cement which was made to stand.

...

The old man who was talking to Neo moments before the arrest walked into the backseat of a white Limo at the corner of the street and shut the door.

"We're done here."

He told a man around his age, seated at the other end of the Limo in a all white outfit.

"Did you watch the cops cuffs him?"

"Since when have I erred on a job, Alpha Aiden?" the old man reminded him of his reputation.

"Here," the alpha threw a card at the Moonshadow. "An invitation card, my son is marrying the girl tomorrow."

Chapter 2 A Bride In Chains

Hendrix walked through an hallway whistling and throwing legs one after the older, like a pirate with a wooden feet, while his hands are crossed behind him.

He pushed open a door at the end of the hallway and walked in like he was looking for someone.

From the side of the door Ava quickly attacked him with a pen knife. With no sign of tension at all he grabbed her hand and stared directly into the pointed edge of the knife. "Is this how you treat your husband to be?"

In a sudden motion he twisted her arm and held it behind her back, putting her in a bending position while her butt is stationed on his genital area. "You like a toxic relationship, don't you?"

"I'd tell you what." He took the knife from her and threw her on the floor. "Our wedding night will be one big BDSM session. I'd finally get to use all my toys on you, sweetheart."

Ava's lunar ability is superspeed, so in a flash she kicked his feets off the floor and as soon as he was lying down in front of her she reached for the knife but was suddenly motionless.

Hendrix laughter took the silence in the room. He gently stood up and dusted his shirt stylishly, "No matter what you do, one swing of my finger and you'd be powerless, with your body at my disposal. I am your alpha!" He raises his voice slightly. "My abilities are superior."

He ducked down and rearranged her body, putting it in a resting position on the ground. "So what do I do with you?" He unzipped his pants. "Hmm," he hummed with a thought in mind and opened her mouth wild. "How about you give me a blowjob."

He dropped his pants and climbed up on her while her breathing intensified with her heart pounding heavily and her eyes rolled up refusing to see the horror that is about to befall her being.

But suddenly Alpha Aiden entered the room alongside his beta, Moonshadow. Hendrix immediately pulled his pants up.

"What kind of man attempts to sleep with his woman on the morning of their wedding?" The alpha showed disapproval. "Go get in a suit." He chased his son out.

As soon as Hendrix left the room the alpha ducked down to Ava with a calm expression, "You're a real beauty, no wonder my son is obsessed with marrying you."

"Alpha Aiden," Ava panicked with eyes immediately getting swollen and watery. "Your son is...a monster. I didn't agree to the wedding. He kidnapped me and ra..."

"What dear girl? Calm down, breathe," he gave her a moment to catch her breath. "Now, what did you say?"

"Your son is a monster, he..."

Before she could finish her statement the alpha grabbed her head violently and smashed it against the ground. "He is your alpha, and you will treat him with respect!" He roared at her.

Ava gripped her head in anguish and rolled on the floor like an burning insect, trying to ease the pain. She eventually cribbed back to the bed and rested her back on it rubbing her head against its softness.

Alpha Aiden gets on his feet, "You will obey..."

The door swung open distracting his speech. "I can handle my own wife to-be all by myself." Hendrix bounced into the room with this words on his lips.

His dad turned around to him and then left the room alongside Moonshadow, both of them not saying a single word.

Hendrix angrily approached her and grabbed her by the jaw, raising her face up to him, "You will walk down the isles with me. You will say 'I do.' and most importantly you will stay quiet as a mouse and will only speak when I or say so."

"You'd have to kill me first," Ava pulled her face from his hand and spat on his shoes.

Hendrix chuckled and shows her the screen of his phone, "I believe you know who this is."

"Neo," Ava's gasped with the anger in her eyes suddenly fading.

"You will cooperate. You will do everything I say and marry me at last. And in return, I just might let him live," he put his phone back in his pocket and looked at her again. "You have 5 seconds to respond."

After a few seconds of careful consideration Ava was ready to give up the tough act. "Promise me," she begged.

Hendrix scoffed, "Consider it your wedding gift." He made two loud claps and immediately a group of maids came in through the door with her wedding gown and other needful resources while he left.

...

On the morning of the very next day Hendrix walked through the hallway of a police station with a pen in his hand which he continued tapping the walls with like an amateur drummer, until he got to the interrogation room.

A cop unlocked the door for him and Hendrix immediately got in with a large mischievous smile.

On the other end of the room Neo is seated down on a steel chair with his hands cuffed to a table made of the same material as the chair.

"How is single life treating you?" Hendrix mocked him as he walked in.

Neo raised his head to a surprising sight. "When I get out of here, I'd cut your legs of and burn you to ashes." He threatened with anger brimming in him.

"Then remind me to kill you before I leave," he chuckled derisively and took a seat across the table.

He then pulled out a tablet from his jacket and watched the screen while a loud moaning and thrusting sound overwhelmed the room; the sound of two people fucking.

Neo's face grew relaxedly suspenseful as he listened to the sound more closely. It's almost as if he recognizes the voice.

"Oh, where are my manners." In a polite gesture Hendrix turned the phone screen to him showing him a clear video of him fucking Ava both raw and hard on their wedding night.

"You bastard!" Neo attempted to dive for him but is immediately held down by the chains. "Cut me loose and face me like a man," he dared him.

"What if I was just a boy though? And not much of a man?" He rested his back comfortably on the chair with a finger on his jaw, "Then I guess a boy is fucking your woman."

Neo pulled against his chains again and then suddenly got calm, glaring viciously at Hendrix. "Whatever you do, you can never get her to love you ever again. Her heart belongs to me now." Neo tried to anger him.

"Only cowards need love," he answered sharply. "Besides, who said she doesn't love me anymore."

"She preferably asked me to disvirgin her. You raped her," Neo yelled at his opponent. "You sicko."

Hendrix jumped out of his seat, "Did I? Or did I not?" He continued talking with his fingers in a wavering motion. "You see you were fast asleep that day. So how could you know whether she willingly had sex with me or not? How could you know whether she chose to come with me over you?"

He walked around Neo's chair slowly, "Besides, there was a wedding with a lot of people. Yes, we're married now, thank you," he interrupted his own speech to announce.

"But think about it," he continued. "At the wedding there were a lot of honorable guests, everyone having the power to save her from me, but she didn't panic even once and said 'I do' when the time came. Grow up Neo," he walked behind his chair and whispered in his ears. "The girl doesn't love you anymore."

In a sudden motion Neo nodded him hardly on the face, causing his nose to bleed.

"Ahh," Hendrix retreated and wiped his nose with his palm. "You idiot. I was trying to help you." He then walked to the door and knocked on it, "Bring her in."

The door opened and a lady in her late thirties entered the room.

"Mrs Olsen," Neo recognized her. But the question that wearied him is 'Why is she here?'

"Let me introduce you to my mother in-law. I'm sure you might have met her before," he pulled out a chair and gestured her to sit which she did. "So, tell her," he stared at Neo enthusiastically.

"Tell her what?" Neo questioned, confused.

"The story of how your mom and dad died," he stared at Neo with a muffled smile. "Of course not. Before your father died he made my dad promise he won't tell anyone, so that you can live life like a normal boy. When in fact, you're just a monster."

Upon hearing this words Neo bowed his head in shame while Ava's mom seemed more curious just as she is confused.

"You killed them didn't you? Your parents," Hendrix continued. "Your own mom and dad just because you couldn't control your lunar ability. That's why it was so easy to frame you with multiple multiple homicides, because you're a beast."

Neo's eyes grew watery with sorrow filling up his pupils.

"I saved Ava," he pointed to himself and yelled out boisterously. "Sooner or later you were gonna turn into that monster again and tear her apart just like you did your parents. I saved that girl," he shouted in his face.

He then walked closer to the table and pushed a gun in Neo's hand pointing it at Ava's mom, then gets behind him. "I know I'm not gonna tell Ava cause I don't need any blackmailing to win her heart over. But we both know who's gonna tell her," he shook the barrel of the pistol at her mom, a clean gesture.

"What if Ava finds out you lied to her about your parents and that you weren't at all the cool guy she thought you were. You think she's still gonna love you the same way she did?" Hendrix raised substantial questions.

With his brain crippled by confusion, Neo's grip tightened on the gun.

"Neo. Neo. What're you doing?" Ava's mom shivered.

"So what's it gonna be?" Hendrix grabbed Neo's head and whispered in his ears. "You prefer losing Ava forever? Or Ava losing her mom forever?"

Suddenly a bullet blew up Mrs Oslen's head, with her brains spattered on the wall like paint.

Chapter 3 Tough Love

Neo's breath intensified, with his heart panting heavily. "What have you done?" He marvelled at the dead body slipping down the chair.

"One way or another, Ava's gonna hate you," he buckled his gun then walked in front of Neo to take his. "Because all this is happening because of you. If you had stayed away from her back when we broke up back in school. She might still have a mom."

"You idiot!" Neo's rage grew, with his heart pounding heavily inside him.

"Oh your powers won't work, Neo. The dose of that syringe they injected you with still has it's effects. And when it fades we'd inject you with the permanent dose, and strip of your powers like we do all criminals," he chuckled and knocked on the door twice.

"When I get out of here, I'd run my fist through your bones until they chatter, every last one of them," he threatened angrily.

"When you get out of here will be when you die," he turned around and left the room as soon as the guard opened the door.

"Hendrix!" Neo roared as they shut the door in his face.

...

"So what's it gonna be?" Hendrix grabbed Neo's head and whispered in his ears. "You prefer losing Ava forever? Or Ava losing her mom forever?"

Hendrix stands up and his whole upper body is cut out of the frame. Then suddenly A loud bang echoed and Ava quickly put the tablet away from her face while tears filled her eyes.

"It was a mere test, Ava," Hendrix sat at the edge of the bed besides her and brushed her hair with his palm. "I wanted to show you the man you gave your heart to. Even I didn't think he'd shoot her."

Ava sobbed silently without a word to Hendrix. In a bid to comfort her he gently put her head down on his thighs and continued to soothe her hair.

"I'm sorry for the way I treated you before but there was no other way to save you from him. I mean, he killed his own parents what are the chances he won't lose control one day and kill you too?"

"My little brother. What about my little brother?" Ava slowly raised her head.

"We'd bring him here and give him a sanctuary. He'd never have anything to worry about in his life ever," he placed his hand on his chest. "This I promise you."

"Thank you," she said, disheartened. Then she rested her head on his thighs again.

...

Later in the evening fast footsteps approached Neo's cell where he sat quietly. In a second Ava showed up and wasting no time the prison guard opened the door wide.

Uncuffed, Neo stood up on his feet and hurried up to her in hasty steps in a bid to hug her. Rather than a warm embrace, Ava slaps him on the face. "You bastard. I trusted you. I gave everything up for you."

"Ava." Neo reacted in surprise, with his palm on his face.

"And then you repay me by killing my own mother. For what?" She yelled. "To keep your stupid secret from getting to me. I would have known better before I fell in love with a man like you."

She turned around to leave when Neo grabbed her hand, "Ava, he's lying to you."

With a deaf ear to his words she turned around and pulled away. "Let me go," she kicked him in the nutsack. As soon as he landed on the floor she spat on him. "You should be ashamed of yourself."

Hendrix entered behind her with a mischievous smile and placed his hand over her shoulder. "Let's go home, dear. I'd make you warm."

She hugged him with both her hands on his chest, a romantic sight that Neo wished he had never seen.

"When is his execution? I don't ever wanna see him again," Ava cried to Hendrix.

"Whenever you want, sweetheart? I offer you his life, do what you plead with it."

"I want him to fall to his death from on top a skyscraper, honey. I want him to know what it's like to fall into the wrong place, like he tricked me to fall for him," she explained with rage. "And I want him death now."

"As you wish," Hendrix kissed her on the forehead and signaled the guards. "Bring the man."

...

In a few minutes Neo stood quietly on the edge of a skyscraper with a look of disappointment which he couldn't suppress at all. Eyes carved out of the bowels of pain and a mind void of thoughts; the only way he could prevent it from exploding.

Hendrix walked to him and whispered, "Evil always wins." Then he turned around to Ava, "He's all yours."

"3 years of my life wasted, because of you," Ava's words echoed through the heavy wind. "Because I thought you loved me just like I loved you, Neo. Good bye."

In a sudden twist of events, she dived on him falling down the building alongside him. Neo's eyes widened in shock while his back helplessly plummeted down from the sky.

A guitar's rhythm played at the background of Ava's mind while in the free fall. With her eyes locked on Neo's and both their bodies warning each other's to the reckoning of their cold death.

Surely Ava didn't have enough time to think of the escape plan through but no matter the case, the gift of death felt like a more delightful reality than the horror's of being a abuser's helpless whore.

However, once gravity curvature took it effect on them, pulling their straight fall closer to the building Ava declined the invitation of death and ran down the building using her superhuman speed to steer the weight of their fall to a safe landing on the ground.

They soon get out of sight for everyone on the building.

"This people just never learn," Hendrix grabbed the neck of one guard and pulled him closer, "Find her little brother and bring him to me."

...

Meanwhile below the concretes of the city's fine roads, Ava and Neo walked through the sewages underground. Drawing their feets through the dirty waters and scaring off the squeaking rats.

As soon as they got to a dryer side of the sewage Ava put a hand on Neo's chest, holding him back from going any further. "Tell me the truth, what really happened to your parents?"

Goosebumps immediately graced Neo's skin while his lips quavered on top one another. "Volkor. The wolf demon. He comes on me when I've used my lunar ability past 3 minutes and... takes control of my body."

Ava's hand dropped from his chest with emotions of concern wearying her expression. "Why did you hide it from me?"

Neo's bowed in shame, "I didn't want you to see me as a monster. I didn't want to lose you." A second briefly passed and he walked closer to Ava with a more energetic tone. "I haven't used my powers for a long time. I would never do anything to hurt you. I promise."

Ava suddenly placed her hands over his neck and started kissing him passionately, with her neck wavering back and forth while her tongue swam in his spit.

As time elapsed Neo pulled away, "We have to get to safety. Hendrix's men must be looking for us."

Ava placed a finger on his lips, "I've been through so much horror this few days. You don't have the right to deny me a good time," her voice grew slightly paranoid as her hand ventured into his pants.

"Save me, Neo," she begged with her eyes almost growing teary of the horrors that consumed her mind. "Save me from this horrible memories."

Without another word Neo carried her up in his arms, with her legs wrapped around his waist, then he administered a series of kisses on her lips, all the way to her boobs and then he laid her on the floor and went down on her lower, more vertical lips.

"The sewage's cover wasn't well placed, I thought I should check it out and here we are, again," Hendrix walked towards them majestically, while an army stood behind him ready to shed blood in those dirty waters.

Neo quickly stood up on his feet with rage boiling down inside him. "You should have never touched her." He balled his fists.

"And you should have never tried to escape with my wife. Now this will be your grave and I'd take Ava back and punish her for cheating on me just days after our wedding," he swung his fingers and the men raced towards Neo like medieval soldiers on a battlefield.

"Go, get away from here," Neo whispered to Ava with his eyes locked on his numerous foes.

"I'm not leaving you," she resisted.

"Go!" He turned around with an angry roar.

Ava realized his eyes has turned gold and she backed off slowly, then she turned around and ran away.

Neo delivered the first punch which broke the bones in the chest of the man it collided with and projected him back some inches pushing one line of the army backwards.

He then grabbed the hand of the closest man and twisted it without struggle. The rumble continued with more and more men embracing the ground with broken bones.

Meanwhile Ava raced through the tunnels with tears on her cheeks. Dizziness weighing down her mind and blocking space for any pure thoughts as the memories of the last few days traumatized her mind, putting her in a vacuum of disastrous illusions.

Now every step Ava took feels like she's walking through the doors of a more horrifying nightmare, but she can't go back, she's trapped. Behind her, underneath and above, reality chased itching to tear her apart completely and to turn good days into a fairytale she can only wish for.

Flustered by her thoughts her eyes didn't pay much attention to her path anymore and she accidentally stepped on a skateboard which immediately locked her foot to it and added more speed to her run.

In a bid to stop it she tapped her feet on the ground, but everytime she raised it up the speed increased. Eventually a vibrant white light shun and she disappeared.

Reappearing with her face flat on a dusty mud road with cowboys and carriages riding through.

"Hey, get of the road," a young man in his mid 20's yelled to her while dressed in a classic wide West outfit.

He then jumped down from his horse and helped her up, "What's a young beauty like you doing on this side of the road?"

Ava looked around to behold the buildings around her, all wooden except for a few bricked ones. However they all had a common attribute, they are rustic with pitched roofs.

"Where am I?" She grabbed the man's hand tightly.

"Relax. You're in New York City," he raised his hand like a showman making a grand introduction.

Ava's heart heavied with her eyes still popping wide open like they're about to explode.

"Miss, are you alright?"

"What day is it?" She questioned.

"October 3rd, 1913," he replied briefly.

In a burst of unbelief, Ava fainted in his arms.
