"Speak!!!" Daniel scolded when the sound of the intercom came through. A sound that irked him a lot whenever he was very busy.
"Y....your friends are here to see you, sir." His secretary's shaky voice came through.
Daniel cussed inaudibly under his breath. "Let them in."
"Okay, sir." She said after which the intercom went off.
Almost immediately, the door to Daniel's office flung open and his two best friends strolled in, Henry and Chad.
"I see you are still a monster. That poor girl was literally shaking when we insisted that she informed you of our presence." Henry spoke, making his way toward the visitor's chair opposite Daniel's desk area.
"I thought we had free access to you dude, when did you change the rules," Chad spoke as he took his seat next to Henry.
Daniel rolled his eyes at his best buddies. He rose to his feet from where he was seated opposite them and proceeded to the bar area of his office to pour himself a glass of white wine.
"Won't you offer us drinks?" Chad said when Daniel returned to his seat. He rolled his eyes at both his friends, and then took a sip of his alcohol.
He was really not in the mood to chat at the moment but he knew for a fact that they weren't going to let him be.
"Dickhead!" Chad said, then he went to pour himself and Henry a drink.
"Why are you guys here?" his voice came out coarse, probably because he hadn't said much in the past few hours that he had been sitting by his desk.
"Where else do you want us to be by this time?" Henry spoke.
"In your company, working your asses off just like I am doing right now."
"Come on, dude. It's past 6 pm. We'll be leaving for the club soon." Chad spoke, coming back to his seat with two glasses of alcohol and handing one over to Henry.
"Someone definitely ruined your mood today," Henry mumbled, collecting a glass of wine from Chad with a chuckle.
"And that's why I told her that I won't be seeing anyone for the rest of the day. You forced your way in so you face whatever you see."
While Henry glared at Daniel, Chad chuckled, taking a sip of his alcohol. They seem to be used to their friends' gloomy behavior which doesn't make them mad anymore.
"We got an invitation from your mom for Anita's wedding. Is that why you're in a bad mood?" Chad asked.
"I honestly don't care what goes on in that family. Anita can marry whoever the fuck she wants. That dude is a gold digger. She's sure going to regret the marriage."
"He could be a changed person. Who knows?" Chad retorted.
"I don't believe."
"With you in the picture. I don't think he would want to do anything to hurt Anita. After all, She's your sister."
"None of my business."
"She's your younger sister. You've got a duty to protect her." Henry reminded.
"You all are making me the bad person here as if you don't know Anita. Not only does her taste in men freak me out. She does what she wants. She's in love, so good for her."
"You would be attending the wedding, right?" Chad asked.
"Of course, he would." Henry chipped in.
"I don't think so. More like, I don't think I will,"
"Come on, dude." Henry voiced out.
"You all should know me by now. I don't do hypocrisy."
"But she's family." Henry reasoned but that doesn't seem to be doing any changes to Daniel's already made-up mind.
"I don't care. But you guys can still honor mother's invitation. She will be happy to see you all there."
"Are you sure that's the reason or you are tired of your parents pressuring you to get married?"
"Their nags bother me no more. They've got grandkids from Amarie. Anita is about to give them more so they've got no point insisting I get married."
"Maybe they are desperate for a daughter-in-law."
"Or they just genuinely want you to find love." Henry and Chad said respectively.
Daniel scoffed, "Fuck Love!!!"
"So you're never going to settle down?" Henry couldn't help but ask.
Daniel cursed softly. "Are you guys here for something important or you came to discuss my love life?" he couldn't hide his disgust at the topic in question.
"Chill man, what's got you on the wrong side of the bed this evening?" Chad couldn't help but say.
"You've been taking glances at your phone since we came in. Is everything okay with you?" Henry stared at him suspiciously.
Daniel puffed out some air, running his left finger through his hair. "This babe is going to be the end of me."
"Natalie?" Henry arched his brow.
"Never! They broke up last week " Chad chipped in, taking a sip of his wine but still peeking at Daniel for his response.
"Who's she? Where did you guys meet?" Henry turned his attention to Daniel.
"She works at the cafe not too far from the office."
Chad almost choked on his drink. "What?? She's a waitress??? A fucking waitress is making you feel this way?"
Daniel glared at Chad, making him shut his mouth.
"Since when did you become a racist?" Henry asked Chad.
"Racist? Is she black? Latino? Or Asian? I never said anything about race. I literally just got surprised that a waitress is making the almighty Daniel feel this way," Chad defended as he shrugged his shoulders.
"And, don't look at me like I'm the devil here. Isn't Daniel the one who claims he would never fuck the pussy of a commoner?" Chad added.
"What's your deal with her?" Henry asked Dan "You never get coffee yourself so how did you guys' path cross?"
Daniel sighed. He rose to his feet with his glass of wine, and took slow steps towards the window, where he stood with his free hand in his pocket and back facing his friends as he looked into the streets of California.
"The waitress is definitely giving him a hard time. I love to see it." Chad whispered, smiling. "I would love to see her," he whispered again.
"This is strange. He's never been this bothered about women." Henry said in a low tone as well.
Chad chuckled, "He probably just met his match so he doesn't know how to deal with it."
"I can hear you guys." Daniel groaned, taking a sip from his cup.
"Can you just tell us what happened so we can help you out of this mess?" Henry said.
"Can we meet her?"
Daniel turned around, throwing Chad a nasty glare.
"Are you going to talk or not?"
I was at the Cafe to meet with one of our biggest clients and she served our table.
"So, did you ask her out?"
"I don't ask women out. They throw themselves at me, remember?"
Chad burst into laughter, ignoring Daniel's glare.
"So you're pissed because she didn't ask you out?" Henry said, trying so hard not to laugh.
"She didn't acknowledge my presence."
Seeing Henry arch a confused brow, Daniel exhaled and then strolled back to where he was seated. "I'm used to women stealing glances at me and trying to flirt with me at any opportunity they get. She was so close to me and had the opportunity to do all of that but it was as if I was nonexistent to her."
"I don't know why but I couldn't seem to get her out of my head that night. So I went to the cafe the next day hoping she would acknowledge me but she still didn't."
"Been making a stop there every day for two weeks now but nothing has changed. She treats me the same way she treats other customers and would hardly even speak to me. My charm works on everyone. Why is she an exception?"
"Wrote my number and kept it on the table before I left. It's been more than 24 hours, no text, no call. And you know how much I hate being kept waiting, disobeyed, and disrespected."
"There are two things involved. She probably doesn't know you or...."
Daniel quickly chipped in. "Is that even possible? Who doesn't know Daniel Tucker Debock???"
"Not everyone cares about who's popular and who's not. We've all got our life issues so people's priorities are different. As I said, She either doesn't know you or doesn't give two fucks about who you are."
"I agree," Chad said.
"Instead of being here, staying all cranky. Why don't you just approach her and ask her out?"
Daniel chuckled, taking his seat.
"Some girls like it when you go the proper way. They like to be wooed." Henry added.
"I don't do that. They come to me and I decide if I want them or not."
"Then maybe you should let go of this one."
Daniel shook his head.
"What's the deal? Didn't you just say you don't do love?" Chad said.
"I don't love her dude!"
"You sure about that?" Henry stared at him accusingly
"You literally just ranted like a lovesick puppy," Chad added. "If it's not love, then it's probably an obsession that will make you end up falling in love."
"I disagree with you guys. But I'll know what I want after I've had my way with her."
After so much teasing, Daniel was able to cajole his friends to leave, using work as an excuse and promising to meet them at the club later at night.
In as much as his mind kept wandering off to Her, he tried his very best to bury himself with work and just when he was really deep into it, the sound of his phone ringing, took his mind off what he was doing.
Taking a glance at the phone beside him, he heaved a tired sigh as he saw the Caller ID. He literally watched the phone ring until it stopped ringing after which Daniel went back to work.
Hardly had he typed a single word on his laptop when his phone rang again beside him. It was the same person calling.
He sighed, picking up the phone and bringing it to his ear after pressing the answer button.
"Hi Baby," The very familiar feminine voice came through.
"I'm very busy, Mom. Kindly go straight to the point."
"Wow! Good evening to you too, Son!"
"You called? Why?" He said sternly.
"Do I need to have a valid reason to reach out to you?"
"I'm not in the mood, Mom. I guess I'm going to end the call if you've got no valid reason for reaching out to me."
"Don't you hang the call on me, Dan!"
"All you do is push me away and that's not good at all!"
"What do you want from me, Mom?"
"I invited Chad and Henry to Anita's wedding."
"Cool,"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Good for you all. Sounds like it's going to be fun!"
"Stop making snotty comments as if you are a stranger. Your sister is the one getting married!"
"You just said that my sister is the one getting married. What do I have to do with it?"
"Attend the wedding and bring Natalie with you."
"We broke up and I'm not attending."
"You did what?"
"You heard me, mom. Don't make me repeat myself." The irritation was clearly evident in Dan's voice.
"What do I do with you, Daniel? Sometimes, I do not understand you. Natalie is a wonderful girl. She's so perfect for you. I was hoping that as time goes on, you both will get really committed and surprise me with as many Grandbabies as..."
"Just stop this, Mom!" He interrupted before she could complete her statement.
"You make it seem like I don't like you or I don't want what's best for you. Your youngest sister is getting married and the least you can do at this point is to be in a serious relationship. Come on, Dan, you should be leading by example."
"I fucking hate it when you compare me with my siblings and you know that? Marriage isn't for everyone. What's so bad in respecting my damn decision."
"You need to quit thinking that way. Of course, I'm proud to have you as my son but I'm definitely not going to let you be on some issues. Who the hell prefers to remain a womanizer rather than forming a family of his own?"
"I know of me, Daniel Debock Tucker! Why would I choose a boring life by choosing marriage and sticking with one woman when I have access to hundreds of women at the snap of my fingers?"
"That's a very disgusting way to think, Son"
"It may feel disgusting to you but that's my choice and I think you should learn to accept it."
"No!, you probably haven't found the right person, that's why you are saying all of these.,"
"But how can you even find the right person when you never give yourself the chance to get to know Natalie? These things don't happen when you are not willing to open your heart. You should put in some effort, hun!"
"Natalie is the perfect one for you. I'm sure you pushed her away. With how things are going, Will you ever give me a grandchild?"
"I'm going to end this call if you keep talking about this."
"This attitude is getting out of hand. Of course, you can't keep doing that whenever we have this conversation. You want to die a single man without any heir?" Daniel sighed, massaging his temple, regretting picking up his mother's call.
Knowing she wouldn't give up on the conversation, he told her what she wanted to hear. "I'll make up with her." He said, referring to Natalie.
"Really? You're going to do that?" Dan heard his mother's voice lit up.
"I'll try!" He shrugged off.
"Thank you, my love. I'm so excited and I hope you both give me Grandbabies soon."
Daniel rolled his eyes even though she couldn't see him.
"So I take it that you're coming for your sister's wedding?"
"No!" He shook his head.
"Come on, Son"
"My head hurts already from having this conversation."
"But that's why I personally invited your friends over."
"Still not a good ground for me to show up."
"Anita is your younger sister for crying out loud! She's the last born of our family. What more can you do than supporting her?"
"I won't consent to her marriage with a gold digger. You of all people know that I don't do hypocrisy."
"He's not a goal digger."
"If you say so but I'm still not attending the wedding."
"What can I do to convince you? You know Anita would take this to heart if you don't come and this could be the beginning of enmity which I don't want."
"I honestly don't care!"
Gina sighed. "I really wanted my firstborn to be a boy. So he would take great care of his siblings. I had no idea you could be this bitter and strong-hearted for choosing not to attend your baby sister's wedding just because of your nasty thoughts about her soon-to-be husband."
"I can't do this anymore, Mom. We will talk later." He ended the call not waiting for her to say anything else.
Daniel wanted to put his phone on silent mode but he remembered that a call could come through for him. He tossed his phone aside, hoping that his mother wouldn't call him back.
....
Feeling mentally exhausted, Dan rose to his feet and went ahead to refill his glass with wine. He came back to his desk side, settled on his chair, took some sips of his drink, and went back to work.
He found himself losing his focus as his eyes kept wandering to his phone in the hope that he was going to get a call from her anytime from now since it was already closing time. But the call didn't come through.
"Fuck it!" He mumbled, after which he punched a couple of things on the screen and then shut down the laptop."
Daniel gulped down the remaining content in the cup, rose to his feet, picked up his phone and wallet from the desk, and exited the office.
Coming out of the office building, Dan went straight to his car. The driver already brought the car to the front of the building.
Daniel made his way over to the driver's seat,
Upon seeing him coming close, His driver got down from the car.
"See you Tomorrow," Dan mumbled, getting into his Audi, after which he drove off at high speed." .
Daniel drove in the direction of the club and upon getting there, he got easy access through the backdoor since he was a VIP!"
Making his way into the club, Daniel was first of all greeted by the sound of very loud music.
Admits the crowd, and he was able to get through to the VIP area.
As he made his way there, he started sighting some familiar faces, seated. They were all in similar attire like him, in their respective suits, which was evidence that they were coming straight from work.
Each of the men had at least a lady by their side or on their lap., keeping them warm and cool. Bartenders were as well going in and out of the VIP section, making sure everyone in there was properly attended to with their orders.
Daniel was just a few steps away when he finally sighted Henry and Chad. He instantly rolled his eyes as he saw Chad mingling with three different ladies.
In their circle, Dan knew that Chad was even more of a womanizer than he was but it was hard to believe because lots of women always threw themselves at Daniel.
The difference between him and Chad was the fact that Chad had to work a bit hard by wooing the ladies and he was so good at it.
Not too far from Chad was Henry who was in the warm embrace of his long-time girlfriend. Dan couldn't help but roll his eyes at the duo. He couldn't help but wonder why someone at this age and time was believing in love or romance.
And not too far from Henry was Natalie.
"What? Natalie?????" Daniel stopped in his tracks with a frown on his face.
He could clearly see that she was the one, sipping from the glass cup, with her attention on her phone.
He was more curious as to what she was doing in his space. The last time she was here was when they were still seeing each other. What was even more annoying was that she was sitting in his space, making it seem like they were still together and she was right there, waiting for him or something.
Yes, Daniel had his space in the VIP corner and everyone knew that.
He saw her look away from her phone and smiled at him when she sighted him. Chad sighted him at the same time too, grinning.
Daniel mentally rolled his eyes, tucked a hand in his pocket, then finally made his way to his corner.
"Why did you both allow her in my space?" Dan attacked his friends, not caring that anyone who had their attention on them could hear them.
"You're free to go back to your office if you're going to be all cranky?" Chad advised.
"I agree with Chad!" Henry added.
"Dickheads!!" Dan mumbled, making his way to his usual seat.
"Hi baby," she smiled at him when he came to her side.
Daniel ignored and took his seat, leaving a reasonable amount of space between them.
"Don't come close." He glared at her admits the loud music playing in the background when he saw her trying to move close to him.
Natalie ignored his outburst, moving closer to him.
She had worn her skimpy clothes, just like how he always loved them on her and she really hoped she got his attention again.
Once her body was touching his, She brought her hand to his chest, "You've not been picking up my calls, baby. I knew I was going to find you here, that's why I came."
"Get your hands off me." He replied, seeing that a waiter was already coming over to his side to take his order.
"No. I'm going nowhere. You're mine alone and I'm here to fight for you."
"I'm not interested in you, Natalie. If we had anything going on between us which I don't think we did, then I'm pleased to tell you that it's over."
Natalie shook her head, still not taking her hand off his chest.
"You're bad at lying, Danny! I know you still want me." She leaned closer to his ear and whispered. "I know you miss us doing naughty stuff. I wore the skirt you like on me. I have no panties on. Should I sit on your lap? Or should we go to the passage for a quickie?"
Gone were those days when all that Natalie needed to do to get Daniel's attention were dirty talks from her. But now, he wasn't even excited about her or what she just said. A very good evidence for him that he was over her.
Seeing that Daniel said nothing, Natalie moved closer to him, almost wanting to enter him. As someone who knew him to be a womanizer, She was beginning to get worried.
"You can do whatever you want to do to me, baby."
"I want nothing to do with you."
"Why? We are perfect together."
Daniel shrugged her away from his body as she was leaning close to him.
She sighed, trying to hide the pain in her eyes. "Forgive me if I've wronged you."
For the first time since he got there, Daniel shifted his gaze to her, looking her in the eyes.
"You should go while I'm still being nice. I'm done with you."
"Please don't do this to me, Daniel."
The waiter came back with the drinks he ordered. Put them on the small table by Daniel's side, poured some for him in the glass cup, and was about to take his leave when Daniel called him back. The waiter bent close to Dan and he whispered something in his ear. He nodded, then finally took his leave.
Natalie stared suspiciously.
"You like someone else?" She asked, trying not to appear pained as she said those words.
"That's exactly why I hate you ladies. So I need to like someone else before I discard you?"
"I thought what we had was really special."
"You must have probably heard that I've been with a lot of ladies before you. What made you even think that I would be with you forever?"
"You're mad at me when I did nothing wrong to you?"
"Please stop! I'm not in the mood for this."
"You used to be so obsessed about me, baby. Or don't you like the dress I'm putting on?"
Daniel paid no attention to what she was saying.
Natalie stared in confusion as she watched a lady with even more skimpy clothes than she had on, come before them.
Her eyes even got wider when Daniel pulled her closer and made her sit on his lap. Her hand instantly went around his neck.
"What the???" Natalie rose to her feet, grabbed the bimbo by her hand, and instantly pulled her off Daniel's lap, immediately sitting on his lap, glaring at the bimbo who was starting to look pissed and not even giving a fuck if people were staring.
She wanted to come Closer, probably to fight back, when Natalie clung onto Daniel tighter by putting an arm around his neck.
She rolled her eyes, finally taking her leave.
"What the hell?" Daniel growled at Natalie, trying to shrug her away from him but she just wouldn't budge.
"I came all the way to be with you and I won't let you disrespect me or discard me like some piece of shit."
"You forcing yourself on me won't change things between us. Get the fuck off me!!!"
"You are not being fair."
"Those fake tears won't move me."
"We are perfect together! Why do you want to throw that away?"
If there was anything that Daniel hated, it was someone questioning his decision.
"If you know you've got any self respect left or reputation that you would want to protect, get off me before I do what's on my mind."
In as much as Natalie loved Daniel so much, She knew what he was capable of so she unwillingly helped herself down from his lap.
Natty was about to say something when she saw another lady coming towards them.
This one in particular was wearing a blue tube dress that hardly covered her ass. She went straight to Daniel and sat on his lap, straddling her ass almost immediately against his dick.
Tears rushed to Natalie's eyes as she tried to withhold her anger. She could tell that people were staring at them even if she wasn't paying attention to them which made her feel so insulted.
"You're going to regret this!" She said to Daniel with gritted teeth after which she picked up her purse and stormed out of the VIP area.
Henry saw all that happened, took an excuse from his babe, and approached Daniel who still had the bimbo on his lap.
"You really didn't have to embarrass her like that." He said, sitting beside Daniel.
Dan ignored his friend, sipping his drink, enjoying the way the girl with the big ass was riding him.
"You're not going to say anything?"
"What do you want me to say?"
"That was Natalie you just bullshitted?"
"And so?"
"Stop sounding brutal. I know you never stay really long with a particular girl but you've been with Natalie for the longest and she's so much into you. The least you could do is to be civil with her even though you want nothing more!"
"What now? Are you gonna scold me for my decision? Or do I need to remind you of how much I detest clinginess?"
Henry shrugged! "I still do not believe that's enough reason for being brutal!"
"I'm done with you all!" Daniel's frustrated voice came through.
He gestured for the lady on his lap to get up.
She was surprised at his demand but obeyed.
Daniel rose to his feet, took out his wallet from his pocket, and dropped a few dollars on the table where his drink was, after which he exited the club.
He heaved a deep sigh the moment he got out and then began to approach his car. The look of relief on his face turned to that of fury when he sighted Natalie by his car, wiping tears off the corner of her eyes.
He mumbled some inaudible words as he approached her.
"Why do you choose to be insanely annoying?"
"I'm waiting for a ride!" She sniffled.
"Spare me that bullshit! You don't go anywhere without your car!"
"That's one thing I hate about you. You are so pompous. You literally leave the club at dawn. How do I know you would be out here?"
"I was happy to see your face. If you're here to apologize to me, let me know. You don't have to be pompous about it,"
"Apologize? Why would I when I made it clear that I'm done with you?"
"Who is she?"
"Tell me her name so I can deal with her for taking you away from me!"
"You're joking, right?"
"Do I look like I'm ready to let go of you?"
"Do I look like I need your permission or opinion to move on from you?"
"What does she have that I don't?"
Daniel said nothing.
"I want to know her. Tell me her name."
"You are really silly."
"I'm not. I'm just fighting for what's mine!"
"Move away. I want to go in!" He asked since she was standing exactly by the driver's seat.
"I have a request!"
Daniel said nothing. He just continued to stare at her in annoyance.
"Make love to me!"
He had no idea when he chuckled in disbelief.
"Why are you mocking me?"
"Don't you think you're being too desperate?"
Natalie shook her head. "This is just me, trying to mark my territory by taming the one I want so much."
"You got it all wrong!"
"What do you mean?"
"We've been out of touch for a while. Did my mom make you come after me?" He frowned.
"I....I don't know what you're talking about." She tried not to stammer, tucking some stray strands of hair behind her neck.
"Besides, it's a few days and not a while. I felt you were busy which was why you weren't answering my calls. So I decided to give you space."
Daniel sighed. He closed the gap between them and cupped Natalie's face in his hand.
Her heart skipped a bit and the worry on her face was slowly replaced with a smile that crept to the edge of her lips.
"You're smiling?" He whispered, looking at her lips.
She blushed
"Good to see you in good spirits even though it's going to last for a while."
The smile she wore faded.
"We had fun! The sex was good but not the best. I gave you all you asked me and even more!"
"Have you ever wondered why I switched babes? It's because I get tired of you all easily."
"I'm over you, Nat! And I would advise you to move on with your life."
"I've got my eyes on another girl. Though she's giving me a bit of a headache for now but I know she's going to be mine real soon."
"Daniel always gets what he wants, remember?"
"And before you start defending yourself. One thing I would never do is to fuck an ex! Your era is over Nat!"
Releasing his hands from her face, he gently pulled her away from the door, helped himself into the car, and instantly drove away.
