Author's POV

The plane landed in America in Washington city while inside there were a lot of people in the airport. Some say bye while some are welcoming their loved ones.

"Oh god, why is this so fucking heavy?." A girl around 23 was trying to pick up her luggage in her hands but her facial expressions were telling how fed up she was right now.

After a lot of hard work she was able to take her luggage out. She put the bags on the floor looking around as she is out of the airport by now. She took off her glasses as her eyes found something that snatched the smile from her face. She looked at the waiting area as there were so many people waiting for their loved ones. She blinked her eyes several times before plastering a smile on her face yet again.

"No need to get emotional Emily, you have yourself to company so yeah welcome back to America." She tried to lighten up her mood.

Emily's POV

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Welcome back!" I stepped back with a sudden shout and then looked around.I was shocked as well as happy. My friends!

"You? How do you guys know I landed today?." They all hugged me in a group.

"Well, What do you think you can hide from us? " Ava said.

"No dude you know I wasn't hiding, it's just I was... Leave this and tell me how are you all? Leo, Carl it been so long since I have seen you." I said.

"Yeah it's more than a year." Carl said. The trio were my seniors in America.

Well, my name you all know me but still... I am Emily, I am American but I was just 10 when I was thrown into a boarding school in Canada with... Well, that's a long story I will discuss later. I just turned 23, 2 months ago. I have completed my graduation with BBA as I always had an interest in business things so yeah. After 11 years I am back in America and instead of my parents oh again my mistake instead of my father as I lost my mother when I was 10, my friends are here to welcome me. They were my seniors in university, actually college as well. They came back last year after their graduation and I came today.

"I think it's enough of I miss you and all let's go home and spend some time together because dude I am really hungry."

Yeah you guessed it right none other than the joker of our group... Leo itself.

"Yeah, I was worried why you haven't said anything yet but... Anyways let's go." I said while he smiled sheepishly.

It's evening time and I am arguing with my friends as they are trying to convince me to not go... Where? My dad's home.

"Guys I said I will come back within an hour. I just wanna see if he is okay or not."

"Emily he doesn't even care about you why do you want to hurt yourself seeing him with his wife and fucking son?." Carl asked.

"Carl, I know you are worried for me but trust me I know what I am doing and I know he won't care about me, he never looked back at me in these 11 years but still he is my dad, fucking blood father I can't change the feelings inside me."

"Emily, think again because Kartik is right, we know you, we know you will get hurt seeing him happy in his life without you. Look, we are not your enemies-." Ava said.

"I know, I know you can't see me sad or broken that is why you are concerned but guys please try to understand me as well. I can't change my feelings and you know if I want something I will get it by hook or by crook I can't keep patience until I get it." I tried to explain.

"Fine you go, Emily, I will handle them." It was Leo, I hugged him.

"Only you understand me Leo, thank you."

"But leo-."

"Carl let her go." I hugged him again before leaving the room.

Author's POV

"What the hell man? You are acting like you don't know her, she will break down damn it." Carl shouted in anger.

"Carl, I know you are worried for her but at this moment you have to keep away your feelings. Just because she will get hurt doesn't change the relationship between her and her father and you both have to understand this, she has the right to what she is asking so yeah dude chill and calm down, I know you love her and you care for her more than us but you have to understand her as well or else she will never love you back."

"Fuck!" Carl banged the wall harshly, controlling his anger.

While on the other hand, Emily reached her home.

I came out of the cab while my eyes were filled with tears. 11 years! 11 fucking years have passed and today I am here. Today I will see my father after 11 years. I know he doesn't care about me, he doesn't need me but I do! I still do. I don't know why, I hate him but still I want to see him. I was entering the gate when someone bumped into me.

"Watch out." He said. He was in a hurry while he was holding a football in his hands.

"Seriously dude? You should watch out. You are running while your eyes are stuck at your back" I shouted.

"Oh shut up I am not in the mood to argue as I am getting late."

"Fuck off then." He glared at me but before he could say something his phone ranged while he left.

I took a deep breath before entering the gate. I rang the bell. After a few seconds, the door was opened by... Nancy! She has grown so old. She was my caretaker, I don't believe she is still here. I smiled. She won't be able to recognize me as I was completely changed in childhood. I was healthy.

"Yes?"

"Uhm... I... I want to meet Dad."

"Excuse me? Can I know... Wait... Emily?." I smiled seeing the smile on her face.I nodded and she hugged me within a second.

"Oh, my dear child I missed you so much, Why did you never come back huh?." I broke the hug.

"Don't ask, please... Where is Dad?." I asked to enter the house.

"In his...room." her expressions showed how uneasy she is to talk about it.

She also knows his hate for me I guess. I left towards his room. I just hope that bitch is not there, who? Her wife and my stepmother. I knocked on the door and entered the room but I was shocked to see the view in front of me.

Emily's POV

I knocked on the door and entered the room but I was shocked to see the view in front of me. For a second I lost myself as it was my dad on a ventilator, his condition was critical. I wasn't able to see more so I left the room, I came out to see Nancy with a sad face.

"Wh..." I almost choked but closed my eyes to control. "What has happened to him and how?."

"Don't ask dear he is like this only we don't know what happened to him."

"How long has it been? "

"9 years." I lost my balance but was held by someone.

"Dear control yourself " she said, but I was not in a state.

I looked at my back to see who was holding me. He was the same guy I argued with outside. I guess he is Nancy's son.

"All this while I was so wrong." I was talking to myself.

"Who is she?" He asked while I straightened myself and looked at him.

"She is... Emily." he looked at me.

"Emily who?"

"Emily Martin." His expression was changed to shock.

"You can't be serious."

"Who is he?" I asked.

"He is... Let me introduce you both! Rigel she is Emily... Emily Martin and Emily he is Rigel... Rigel... Martin." I was shocked as well.

"You really can't be serious."

"Unfortunately I am serious and... You both are siblings... Step siblings."

"You know what, this is just too much to digest. I can't take this anymore." saying so I left for my room. I don't know if it's still my room or not but let's see. I entered inside.

Everything was clean and kept in place. Even the small tiny bed I used to sleep on is here. I went towards the wall where my photos were hung. It was me and my mum while some were having dad's photo as well. A tear escaped my eye. It is not easy to get emotional but right now I am broken.

I never expected this! I sat on the bed with a frame in my hand.

"All this while I was thinking that he hates me and I am unwanted in his life. I thought all negative things were possible against him but actually, he was helpless. He is on a ventilator here fighting with death and there I was saying all shit things to him for not looking back at me. How can I be so selfish?"

"Can I come inside?" I looked towards the door to see Rigel.

"Yeah sure." This is so awkward to see a brother I never knew about. I mean I knew I had a brother but this elder I didn't know. He sat beside me.

"She is your mom?" He asked.

"Yeah she is."

"I never heard about you from anyone in the house except Nancy." I smiled.

"Of course There wasn't anyone to talk about me except her."

"You didn't know about Dad's condition?" I closed my eyes listening to dad from his mouth. This is awkward, damn!

"No, I always thought he didn't need me anymore as he got a new family but I was...so wrong."

"It ok it wasn't your fault I would think the same if I were in your place, thinking."

"Hmm."

"By the way, what did you do all these years in Canada?"

"Well first I had boarding school then college life and now I completed my graduation."

"So you have graduated?"

"Yeah, you can say that! What about you?"

"Rigel." We turned around to see a lady around 38 standing on the door. Ruth Martin is here! She was looking angry!

"What the hell do you think you are doing?"

"What am I doing Mom? I am talking to Emily and you know she is my-"

"Shut up just shut up! I know who she is. I don't have to ask you. You tell me why the fuck you are here, you should be doing practice with your friends for the event." she said ignoring me.

As expected, I don't know why she hates me so much!

"I was going but I met Emily so I-"

"So you thought to talk to her and let your friends wait?"

"Why are you getting so angry Mom? It's not a big deal."

"Oh it is a big deal you know I have worked so hard for you to stand where you are today and I can't let you spoil it because of some unwanted people," she said the last line looking towards me but I rolled my eyes.

"I am sorry." He said getting up.

"You should now leave and focus on your music." he left looking at me for the last time. As he left she came towards me!

"So Emily, what brings you here?" She asked with a smirk.

"Well this house is mine as well and I guess I don't need a permission letter from you or any reason to come here."

"Oh really, you didn't realise this in these years?"

"Yeah because you never let anyone tell me what is going on here. I was unaware of the things."

"You know me very well dear, it's great then you should also know that I won't let you stay in this house, not in your wildest dreams," she said while challenging. Trust me I love challenges.

"Then I have very bad news to share with you Ruth that I am shifting here in this room itself," I said looking around. Her expression changed into anger.

"You can't."

"I will and you won't be able to do anything in this case because I have all the rights to stay here."

"Ok then I will make sure to make your life hell here." Her eyes were shooting daggers.

"Trust me I am really scared," I said, faking the expressions while she left shutting the door with a thud.

Am I staying here? Fuck why I always end myself in trouble. But I have challenged her and I can't back off. I have to tell my friends about this!

I left the room when my ears caught melodious music. I followed the sound. The door was slightly opened, I sneaked my head inside to see 4 people jamming, Rigel was one of them.

My phone rang while I closed the door, immediately silencing my phone.

What would they think I was peaking inside?

Emily's POV

"Emily? What are you doing here?" I shut my eyes tightly as it was Rigel. I turned around!

"Uhm... I was passing by and I heard some music sound so I stopped to check."

"Oh, won't you come inside and meet my friends?" He asked.

"I don't think it's a great idea."

"Why not? Come." he said while I nodded, not knowing what to do.

"If you want to." We entered the room while everyone stopped their talks.

"Guys meet Emily, she is my... Ahem yeah, she is my sister... Step sister." I looked at him then at his friends.

"Haha, what?" It was a girl.

"What do you mean by step-sister Rigel did you find out about your dad's affair or what?" It was a boy now.

"Watch your tongue you fucker."

"Oops, I am sorry."

"But Rigel on a serious note, who is she?" Another girl asked.

"I told you she is my step-sister, Emily and Emily meet Linda!" He said pointing towards the girl standing near Piano

"Hi Linda."

"Hi Emily, nice to meet you," she said with a warm smile.

"He is Andy," He said, pointing toward the drummer.

"Hi Emily"

"Hi"

"And she is Helen." The girl was holding a guitar.

"Hi!"

"Hi Helen, nice to meet you." I was feeling awkward

"Nice to meet you all but right now I have to leave. I have some important things to do " I excused myself and left.

"Will you fucking speak up that what happened?" Ava asked as I was tapping my foot and playing with my fingers.

I told them everything that happened in the mansion except my shifting news.

"Will you say something, Emily?" Carl asked polity

"I am telling you guys, can't you wait?"

"For god's sake Emily we have been waiting for the last 15 minutes And You know I am already hungry, your behaviour is making me angry," Leo said and I rolled my eyes, hungry hulk.

"Ok fine Just 2 more minutes," I said while Ava slapped her face.

"Fine," she said. I know they all are gonna burst out but I have to tell them.

"Ok so... Iamshiftinginthathouse," I said in a go.

"What?" Carl asked.

"What you said we didn't understand a single word?" Ava said being irritated.

"Fuck it's already difficult to say!"

"You have to speak," Leo said.

"I am shifting in that house." None of them said a word. They all were looking at me like I was invisible or something from any other planet.

"What?" I asked for a response.

"Tell us you are lying," Carl said.

"Unfortunately no it's true."

"Emily you can't be serious, enough of this shit I don't like these types of jokes," Ava said roaming around.

"She isn't lying!" Leo said, trying to figure me out.

"How the fuck you know?" Now it was Carl totally pissed.

"Because her expressions can tell." I sighed.

"Guys I know you all must be angry but trust me I have thought a lot about it. Staying there will give me some time with my father which I never had because of my stupidity. I want to spend some time with him and I think I need this."

"You know what I was wrong about you, I thought you were not an idiot like other emotional girls but you are. How can you be so stupid? You want to live in that house with youstepmotherer and your step brother? Are you even serious? you know she hates you to the core but you still wanna live there."

"Yes I want to live there and you know what I am not an emotional brat. I know what I am doing, I know what I need in my life. I am not a 16 years old teenager, I am 23 and I can look around the good and bad. But you know what you guys can never understand me, never." saying so I left for my room. I was really angry!

Author's POV

"You know what guys you both are mad she is right you can never understand her, you can't see what she must be going through seeing her father in this condition but why will you care right?" Leo shouted and left behind Emily

"Arghh" Carl cursed under his breath.

Back to Emily's POV

I was sitting on my bed holding my head. It was when Leo came and sat beside me.

"So? When are you leaving today or tomorrow?" He asked to eat popcorn.

"You aren't angry at me for leaving?" I asked taking some popcorn.

"Of course not, why will I be? it's your right to live in that house and you know whatever your decision is I am always there for you and I understand what you are going through Emily," he said. I hugged him tightly.

"You always understand me Leo and I love you! You know I always thought Ava could understand me more but she always proves me wrong because she never stands by me, it is always you."

"Woho ok ok no backbiting ok and no buttering as well."

"I am not buttering, I am telling the truth."

"Ok ok! Let's eat popcorn" he said, offering me the bowl while I took some.

"Can we join you guys?" They both popped their heads inside the room but I didn't answer.

"Emily, can you please forgive us?" Carl asked.

"Emily I know I always fuck up things but you know I am a bit possessive for all of you I can't see you guys sad or tensed and for that, I can become selfish but I hurt you every time can you please forgive me?" She asked, holding her ears.

"And me too? Because I love you...guys so much." he said. I smiled going towards them while they hugged me in a group hug. We talked for a while before sleeping.

I met them one by one before leaving the house. They asked me for the lift but I refused. I knew they all had work to do.

While on the other hand:

Rigel and Andy were having breakfast together as Rigel was at Andy's place

"You know what it was awkward to see her. I mean I knew I had an elder step sister but I never thought I would meet her. I mean it has been years since she left the house and her sudden appearance I don't know why but I feel like she is going to disturb our life." Rigel said.

"Chill dude, she just came to meet his father she isn't moving in right so what's the big deal?"

"I know and I hope she never comes back because it's weird for me to introduce my step sister, eww like why?"

"It's life you can't always get what you want dude. I am an example in front of you." Andy said drinking coke. "It has been a year since I saw her in that coffee shop and I fell in love and I still never found her even after trying so fucking hard."

"Yeah you're right but you know what I have a gut feeling you will find her soon." Rigel said looking at his phone.

"Hope so! By the way, where are Helen and Linda? I mean we have just 2 days left for the performance. We should practise more and more."

"Yeah I called them, they have gone shopping and they will be here within an hour."

"Ok."

I entered the room to see that the old bed was exchanged with a new one. I smiled because I knew it was because of Nancy.

Keeping my things on a side I went down to see no one around. Thankfully I don't have to see that bitch's face in the morning.I went inside the kitchen to see what I could eat.

"Can you please make a double cheese chicken sandwich for me?" I asked from the cook while she nodded with a smile.

"Sure dear you go and wait outside," she said while I left.

I came out while humming and dancing a bit when I collided with someone. I turned around to see Rigel. I passed a small smile while he too smiled back but I could surely tell it was fake.

"Good morning!"

"Morning," he said, like doing some pity on me. Before I could say something he left!
