Chapter 1 Kira's Dilemma

Kira's pov

I watched as Zara ran towards me in excitement and though I expected it, I still almost lost my balance as she jumped on my body.

"Hey, girlfriend!" Zara screamed.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Zara had always been the crazy one while I forever remained the calm and reserved one. Well, she had the liberty of being crazy and doing whatever she wanted due to her father's wealth, and talking about her father, my heart did a double jump.

"So how was your journey?" I heard Zara asking and her voice brought me out of my reverie.

"Oh, stressful." I managed to say.

I had been thinking about her dad when she had asked me that question and that was the only thing I could come up with, though the journey was stressful.

"So sorry about that! I told my dad that we should send the private jet to come pick you up but he said he was going to use it to go on a business trip." Zara pouted.

Zara had always been a spoilt brat even before her parent's divorce and she became even more spoilt after the divorce because her father tried to make it up to her by giving in to her every whims and caprices.

"Oh Zara, that would have been too much! You know I am the reserved type." I said.

"Nonsense! Absolute nonsense!" Zara crowned. "You are my best friend and you deserve everything I can offer."

"Except for your father," I muttered under my breath.

"Excuse me? Did you say something?" Zara asked.

"No babes, I was just talking to myself." I denied.

"Hmmm, that's odd." Zara fluttered her eyelids as she directed me toward the black GLE that was waiting for us.

The guard opened the door for me and I entered. I inhaled deeply at the fragrance that assaulted my nostrils.

Zara's father was not a man to spare any expenses when it comes to automobiles and making them feel good when you enter.

"So how is your dad?" I asked Zara.

"He is fine, he will be coming back by Monday which means that we have the whole weekend to ourselves!" Zara answered.

I could not help but smile. Zara's enthusiasm was contagious but I also felt a bit disappointed.

I wanted to see her father Mr. Blake as it has been a long time since I last saw him which was at Zara's eighteenth birthday party before we both got into separate collages.

"You don't seem excited," Zara whined.

"Oh! That's not it, I am excited but it's just that I'm feeling tired and stressed from the journey." I explained.

"So sorry, my bad, I did not think about that but don't you worry, I will allow you to rest for today but tomorrow, we are going to party!" Zara said.

I barely managed to smile but I knew that whether I was excited about the party tomorrow or not, Zara was not giving me the choice to say no.

"Alright, if you say so," I replied.

The drive back to the Wellington's summer estate was silent but quick after that.

I gasped in awe at the sight in front of me. When Zara and I reconnected again through social media and she invited me to come to spend the summer holiday with her in her father's summer home, this was not what I was expecting.

"Beautiful right?" Zara asked.

"It's beyond beautiful Zara, it's stunning!" I exclaimed.

Zara laughed in pure bliss.

"Don't worry, you will get used to it soon," Zara assured.

I nodded my head as that was the only thing I could do at that point.

"So, this is where I am going to be spending the summer holiday." I acknowledged.

"Yeah baby girl, there is a beach at the back owned by my father, tourist come here every year and I promise you it's going to be fun because I will make sure you meet some handsome dude!" Zara announced.

I nearly choked on my saliva as I heard what Zara said.

"No Zara, I came to heal not to jump right into another fire!" I told Zara.

I had just broken up with my longtime boyfriend a week ago when I discovered that he was cheating on me with my roommate in college.

His excuse was that I refused to allow him to have sex with me because I wasn't ready. Looking back now, I'm glad that I did not give in to him.

"On the contrary, that is exactly what you need to do!" Zara countered.

"I'm serious Zara, I want to take a break off guys, they are the last thing I need to complicate my life right now," I told Zara.

"What happened baby girl?" Zara asked me sounding concerned.

By this time, we were already inside the mansion and Zara had led me to a room which I believe was mine because she gestured to the maid who had followed us when we entered the house to put my bag in the wardrobe.

"I take it that this is my room," I said to Zara as soon as the maid left.

"Yep, do you like it?" Zara asked.

"Like is an understatement, Zara, I love it! Thank you so much." I hugged Zara.

"You are welcome, so now, back to my question! What happened between you and Clinton because you guys were the envy of all back in high school." Zara asked again.

I wanted to tell Zara that I was in no mood to explain but knowing who Zara Was and how she would not give up until she got what she wanted I had no choice but to explain.

I started telling her about it and when I was done, she was more angry than I was.

"What a wicked friend! How dare her, if I were in your shoes, I would never forgive her and I would make sure I beat her to a stupor!"

"What do you mean?" I asked her.

"For instance, if someone other than my mother were to think of dating my father, I would deal with that person!" Zara answered.

Chapter 2 Curiosity Gone Wrong

Kira's pov

I was at a loss for what to say.

Zara had just let me know her stand on my thoughts about dating her father and it was was a good one.

"So does that mean that you do not approve of your father dating again?" I asked her.

"Hell no! I'm thinking of bringing them back together." Zara explained.

"Really?" I said.

"Yes, and I'm going to need your help to do it!" Zara revealed and I almost choked.

My head was spinning and I could not breathe. It seems Zara finally noticed and she became concerned.

"Kira, are you okay?" She asked scared.

I could only nod my head to tell her no and she quickly ran to get me a glass of water. When she came back, she gave it to me and I drank it greedily.

After some minutes, I was able to breathe again.

"How are you feeling now?" Zara asked me.

"I'm feeling much better now, thank you, Zara," I answered.

"You are welcome but you scared me though, are you sure you are not sick?" Zara asked concerned. "I could call our family doctor and he will check you to know what is wrong." She added.

I smiled in my mind because if only Zara could see that what was making me sick was not a physical sickness but an emotional one.

I was in love with Zara's father! I had always been in love with him right from when I was a teenager in high school.

Zara's father was what one would call a demi-god! He was hot and sexy for a man of his age. The last time I saw him was four years ago at Zara's eighteenth birthday party and now I'm twenty-two, I wondered what he would be looking like now.

When Zara and I reconnected again, she told me that her parents were divorced and that they got divorced after her eighteenth birthday.

It had not come as a surprise to me because I knew Zara's mother to be a woman without character or rather one with a very bad and nasty character who was prone to mood swings and bad temper.

I'm sure that Zara must have gotten her hot-temperedness from her mother and her warm and humble nature from her father.

Zara's father had looked like he was being suffocated by the marriage which would explain what happened between us that night at Zara's eighteenth birthday party.

"Kira? You are not saying anything." Zara's concerned voice cut through my reverie.

I quickly brought myself back to the present and gave Zara a small smile.

"I'm fine Zara." I lied but she did not believe me because she gave me the 'I don't buy into that' look and I had to convince her.

"For real Zara, I'm fine, I guess I'm still jetlagged and I would be fine after a good sleep," I assured Zara.

Zara looked at me closely like she was trying to ascertain if I was telling the truth or not so she would know what to do next.

"Zara please believe me, I'm not lying." I tried convincing her.

It seemed like it worked because Zara suddenly sighed in exasperation before she stood up from the bed.

"Alright, if you say so, I will believe you and allow you to get the much-needed sleep," Zara said and hugged me lightly.

"Thank you for understanding Zara and also for your hospitality."

"You are welcome and I won't allow the maids to wake you up but if you sleep through dinner time, I will tell the maids to keep your food so you can microwave it and eat if you wake up at night feeling hungry," Zara said to me.

"Alright, babes." I smiled.

"Sleep tight and rest well because no excuse will be allowed tomorrow night!" Zara winked at me as she spoke.

"Yes, your ladyship!" I greeted in a mock salute.

Zara laughed as she exited my room.

I plonked onto the bed and closed my eyes as my mind began to wander to that night four years ago.

It was Zara's birthday birthday and I was invited by Zara alongside other of our high school classmates.

Zara was one popular girl in school which was due to her father's immense wealth and her friendly and outgoing personality.

Before that party, I was already a regular in Zara's house because I was her best friend. Her father had approved of our friendship but for some odd reasons which I could not decipher till today, he had always kept a respectable distance from me after meeting me for the first time.

Zara's mother on the other hand never wasted time in showing her disapproval of my relationship with Zara as she could not understand why Zara would pick me out of all the kids from influential families in school.

I noticed Zara's mother's disdain for me and learned early to avoid her but her father's aloofness towards me did not stop me from crushing heavily on him.

That night at the party, it seemed like Zara's parents had another episode of their constant argument because he suddenly walked into the kitchen looking drunk and I was alone in the kitchen.

The sudden breeze from the window woke me up and I realized that I had been dreaming about that night again.

The rumbling of my stomach told me that it was past dinner time and I had slept through it.

I checked my phone and saw the time that it was past 9 am and I was very hungry.

I was still wearing the jeans and top I traveled in so I took it off and put on a simple night dress. I wanted to take my bath first before I ate but I was too hungry and I decided to eat first.

I got out of my room and walked towards the kitchen where I believed that my food would have been kept. The only thing I was going to do was to microwave it.

Zara's room was at the far end of the corridor while the room she showed me to be her father's room was directly opposite mine.

Call it curiosity or whatever but against my better judgment, I decided to go check Mr. Blake's room.

It was closed and I opened it. Zara had told me that her father would be back by Monday so I assumed the room was empty until I opened it and my jaw dropped.

Chapter 3 Confession

Kira's pov

I quickly closed the door and ran down to the kitchen with my heart in my mouth.

I had just seen Zara's father naked and damn! He was looking far more sexy than I had imagined.

I could not get the image of his naked body out of my mind though I tried to.

I was confused because Zara had told me that her father was not going to be back till Monday so what was he doing in his room or did I see wrong?

'Kira! Put yourself together and pretend like nothing happened, after all, you are not sure he saw you.' I advised myself.

Taking my advice, I took in a deep breath and began to search for where my food was kept.

I took the opportunity to look at the kitchen and I loved its spaciousness.

I saw my food had been on the table close to the microwave and I opened it. It was fried rice and salad but I suddenly lost my appetite for it maybe because my appetite was on something else.

I shook my head vigorously and chastised myself for thinking about Zara's father.

I was hungry but was not ready to eat the food that was kept for me. I looked around the kitchen to see if I could find something else to eat. I opened the fridge and saw bread and peanut butter.

I brought them out and placed them on the counter. Now getting the dining knife became a problem because it was at the top kitchen cabinet.

I stood on my toes and reached out to take the knife when my nostrils were assaulted by the cologne I was all too familiar with. One I wanted to drown in and also at the same time, I wanted to run away from.

"You were supposed to grow taller but, strangely, you seem to appear shorter than the last time I saw you." Mr. Blake's sonorous voice sounded in my ears.

I stiffened and remained fixed on the spot.

"You are going to have leg pain if you keep on standing on your toes." He said.

I attempted to relax my leg when I felt his hand on my waist and he carried me to sit on a chair.

He set the knife on the table in front of me took a glass cup and filled it with juice and placed it in front of me.

All this while, I watched him as he carried on with the task without saying anything to him. It was even difficult for me to breathe.

"You need to breathe if you don't want to die and also eat if you don't want to faint." Mr. Blake advised me.

My face flushed red in embarrassment as I heard my stomach rumble violently reminding me of my initial reason for coming down in the first place.

I took a deep breath and that was when I realized that I had been holding my breath.

"Good evening Mr. Blake." I greeted trying to sound as casual as I could.

"Isn't it too late for the greeting?" Mr. Blake asked me.

"I don't understand sir," I said to him.

"It's alright, it's been such a long time since we last saw and I must confess, you are looking good." Mr. Blake complimented me.

"Thank you, sir," I said blushing profusely.

"So tell me K, what have you been up to?" He asked me.

He was the only one who called me K. When Zara first introduced me to her father, it was in his company and he was very busy that day.

The next time he saw me he called me K and I corrected him that my name was Kira and not K. He gave me a mocking look and told me that because of my audacity, he was going to keep on calling me K and he was true to his words.

I then got used to him calling me K and when my ex-boyfriend the of calling me K, I got angry with him.

"K, I asked a question, what have you been up to except from learning how to peep into people's bedrooms?" He asked again.

I almost choked on the piece of buttered bread in my mouth and my eyes widened in shock.

I did not know that he saw me because his back was facing me.

"So, you saw me?" I inquired from him.

"No, I did not." He answered.

"Then how did you find out that I was the one who peeped into your room?" I asked him looking confused.

"Because you just told me." He answered simply.

"I don't understand sir," I told him

His answer left me even more confused. Mr. Blake must have sensed my confusion because he scoffed before proceeding to explain.

"I noticed someone opening my room door and before I could turn back, the person left. I knew it was not my daughter nor the maids because the maids would not dare open my room first without knocking, so I decided to come down to check who the person was and I found you here."

"And you then concluded that I was the one?" I asked.

"No, I suspected which was why I asked you but your reaction and answer gave you away which proved my theory right!" He stated simply.

'The sneaky bastard!' I thought to myself.

He had thrown a bait and I had foolishly swallowed it, hook, line, and sinker.

"Well, I apologize for that, Zara told me that you would not be coming back till Monday so I was not expecting anyone to be in your room." I tried to explain.

"Hmm, alright, if you say so." Mr. Blake said.

I quickly finished my food and stood up to leave.

"Thank you, sir," I said.

I guess I was very nervous because I missed my step as I was about to walk past Mr. Blake and I almost fell except that I found myself sitting on his lap instead.
