Azlynn's P.O.V.
"Deck the halls with boughs of Holly Fa-la-la, la-la-la ..."
The crisp air gently caressed my face, flashing all the dreamy moments which were going to turn into reality soon. I was on my way to claim all the happiness of my life.
Ninety minutes before 25th December, the air was filled with Christmas symphonies as I reached the party hall, soaring high in the sky. My heart was thumping in excitement to see my football star boyfriend, Alpha Xavion.
This year's Christmas was special, putting an end to my long wait. I was thrilled to celebrate my eighteenth birthday on this auspicious day.
As Werewolves, it was the time when we could smell our mate, and I just couldn't wait to find whether my football star was my mate or not.
Walking inside the beautifully decorated hall, my desperate eyes looked for him in the crowd of dancing couples. Xavion had arranged an extravagant, football-themed birthday party for me.
A wave of musky scent hit my senses, and I heard Xavion's deep voice, drenched in sweetness.
"Oh, you are such a tease, Valerie."
The flirtatious laughter in response was a bombshell of realization, my mind went blank for a moment. Pushing through the crowd, I found my Alpha boyfriend with breathtaking beauty, their bodies intertwined passionately crumbled my world around me.
"Valerie?"
It took me a moment to recognize the girl in the short red dress, the new transfer student in our class, she was the heir to a famous Alpha bloodline. Her plump lips all over my boyfriend's mouth nauseated me to the core.
My heart was heavy in my chest, but also a wave of fury and resentment coursed through me. After two years of selfless support, that was how Xavion repaid me?
Tears burned my eyes, urging me to leave, but a soft sob escaped my lips.
"Xavion!"
Suddenly, the loud music stopped, followed by the pin drop silence of the party. My call was successful in garnering Xavion's attention.
That extraordinary imposing Alpha walked over, cleaning the corner of his lips. I confronted him while pushing back my tears.
"Valerie and you? How can you ..."
"Luna Valerie!"
Xavion's cold voice warned me, "Watch your tongue, omega!"
My hand flew to my mouth to stifle an involuntary scream, the slap of being an omega slapped me hard across my face. I had heard this word for continuously two years just for his sake, and tonight, he also insulted me like this.
I gulped a lump in my throat with great difficulty and spoke, "You promised to marry me, Xavion. We are in love, then ..."
Tears tightened my throat, cutting me off mid-sentence, I couldn't speak up for myself. Xavion's 1.93 m tall frame towered over me like a mountain of robust muscles, his devilishly handsome face scrunched up in disgust.
"Marry you?"
The corner of his lips curled up in a mean smirk, and the next moment, his honey brown eyes were ablaze with rage.
"Even after so much, you still have the guts to point your finger at me?
You are such a flagrant woman, omega!"
"Easy, babes!"
With her waist-length hair cascading like flowing water, gorgeous Valerie placed her delicate hand on Xavion's shoulder. Her pure eyes emitted an innocent and captivating charm as she calmed him.
"Please show her the reports! Strong evidence is required to confront a promiscuous girl like her."
My mind lost its proper functioning, frozen by the shock of these startling events, I couldn't hear beyond that slut shaming.
I had only kissed my boyfriend in my entire life, let alone having physical relations. Then how could she slander me for a non-existent crime?
Xavion took out an envelope from his jacket pocket and threw it over my face.
"This piece of paper has revealed your true colors behind the façade of a pure girl, omega.
You hid your affair so well that even I was fooled by your classic acting."
My heart raced like a galloping horse in my chest as I opened the envelope with trembling hands. It was difficult to read because of my teary vision, but the heading of the report shook the ground below me.
"Patient's name: Azlynn Eastwood.
Pregnancy test: Positive."
The name and date on the paper blew my head away, I was shaken by the absurdity of the report. Breathing in sharply, I screamed like a mad woman.
"This is fake!"
And stepped forward in a hurry, "I can't be pregnant, Xavion.
This is impossible! You know the truth."
Xavion and I had promised to be loyal to each other, waiting for the best moment for sex: Our wedding night.
Then ...
Xavion's unsmiling voice slithered into my ears as he thundered in fury.
"That's what I thought, but you have cheated on me, omega. I would have never found out if Valerie didn't take off the blindfold of love from my eyes."
Then he flashed his cell phone's screen in front of my eyes.
"Valerie's cousin is a laboratory attendant who confirmed the reports. There's no need to play innocent now."
Because of an outbreak last week, our university collected the blood samples of all the students for general blood work. My results were also negative like the rest of the class, then why did Valerie order a pregnancy test for me?
The connection between these two occurrences rendered me speechless, making me gawk at the exemplary Alpha couple standing right in front of my eyes. Calming my racing heart, I tried to sound normal, but my shaky voice deserted me.
"I am not pregnant, Xavion. And why is Valerie poking her nose in our personal matters?
You wanna a test, come with me to the hospital. We can do the test again.
But wait!"
My insides twisted to remember the scene of his intimate kiss with Valerie just now, I asked him sternly,
"Tell me one thing before, why were you kissing her so passionately? Isn't it cheating?"
My burning query received a thunderous growl in response, a look of great bitterness swept across Xavion's face. He charged at me.
"How dare you, omega?"
I stumbled backwards as his hurtful words pierced through my heart. The contempt, accusation, and fake evidence wasn't enough for Xavion, he held my chin tightly and spat out, darkening my world.
"Address Valerie with respect, omega. She is my fated mate!"
Azlynn's P.O.V.
"Valerie is my fated mate!"
The volcano of revelations rumbled, burning me with its molten lava, my heart was pierced with a thousand fiery needles at once. Staring at Xavion in a catatonic stupor, I let my tears stream down my cheeks, losing my composure. His blunt response hadn't left any room for discussion.
Seven days!
Xavion hid the news of his fated mate for seven days, looking for an excuse to rub his disloyalty on my face. He was such a mean planner.
His commanding Alpha tone failed to affect me as he ordered me firmly.
"Who is that man?
Tell me the name of that bastard you are fucking behind my back, omega."
A sudden surge of fire in my chest converted my pain into fury, making me look straight into his dark eyes fearlessly. I jerked his hand away.
"His name is none of your fucking business!"
My harsh tone raised an octave, creasing Xavion's forehead, but I couldn't care less. Saving my face in public was the only thing on my mind.
"Congratulations on finding your fated mate, Alpha Xavion. I wish you all the best!"
Xavion's face darkened, his keep-your- mouth shut glare bore into mine. He grabbed my wrist and snarled at me.
"Answer my fucking question!
I have asked you something, omega!"
Alpha Xavion was the epitome of power and authority, he never failed to amaze me with his enigmatic personality. But now, I only felt repulsion, his warm touch churned my stomach.
My voice became bitter with resentment.
"You can't question me about anything after selecting your Luna. We are done!"
For the first time in two years, my wolf came forward to assist me. I freed my wrist from Xavion's steel grip easily.
"Merry Christmas, Alpha Xavion!
Have fun with your Luna."
Rubbing my eyes mercilessly, I spun around sharply, leaving the party with my head held high. My wolf, Bella, fastened my pace, aiding me to run away from the hall. I burst into tears after leaving the building.
"Why???"
The scenes of our two years of relationship flashed before my eyes, laughing at me. I couldn't find any mistake in loving my celebrity crush. There was no doubt that I was Xavion's one of the biggest fans across the four Kingdoms, cheering for his every success. He was my idol, the love of my life, I didn't hesitate to leave my homeland for him.
Walking mindlessly, I was oblivious of colors and lights in the surrounding, my world was darkened by the cruel betrayal of my lover.
It reminded me of Christmas three years ago when I asked my dad for permission.
"I would like to study at the University of South, dad. Please allow me to go there."
My dad raised his brow, "You are only fifteen, princess. Even if I pull some strings for you, the administration will catch your lie because of your appearance."
As passing college wasn't a problem for a brilliant student like me, my dad highlighted an important issue. So, I promised him.
"Please give me some time for preparations, dad."
From gaining weight to studying without a break, I did everything to enroll in the University of South. I wasn't even sad while leaving my Palace, winning over my crush's heart was my only dream.
My dad prepared fake ID and papers for me, "From now on, you are Azlynn Eastwood, an omega from the suburbs of South kingdom. Your scent will be altered from an Alpha to an omega.
No one should know that you are the princess of the East Kingdom."
Soon, Azlynn Eastwood, a nerd and extreme introvert became a cheerleader in the University of South, following football star Xavion Waller like a moth to flame. Luckily, my advances caught his attention, and we started dating.
It took us a month to be exclusive!
Everything was fine, we were madly in love with each other. He even promised to marry me as his Luna, then how could he do this to me?
My trail of thoughts was abruptly halted by my wolf's comment, she spoke bleakly.
"He has found his fated mate, Ann. This was bound to happen!"
So, my years of sacrifices, love, and affection were nothing before a mate-bond?
If Xavion only wanted to be with his mate, then why did he fill my heart with dreams? How could he forget his promises and slander me like this?
Overthinking was causing a short-circuit in my brain, burning my nerves with its sparks. The devastation of losing my love overpowered my senses.
I was lost in my thoughts when the fireworks in the sky broke my trance, the exhilarated greetings, bells of church, and the songs of prayers echoed in the surroundings, reminding me of my own milestone.
Raising my head, I glanced at thousands of sparks, and glittering golden and silver showers in the sky, and congratulated my wolf.
"Happy eighteenth birthday, Bella. We are indeed destined for loneliness."
However, the colorful spiral of whirls arranged into Alphabets in the sky, startling me. The pang of betrayal cut through my soul once more with the greetings.
"Merry Christmas, Valerie!
Love, Xavion!"
A desolate shriek rolled out of my tongue as my head spun, splashing down two rivers of despair from my eyes. Xavion had crossed all the limits tonight, burning the last bit of our connection by using my birthday party to insult me.
Walking out of the Campus's gate, I was on the verge of nervous breakdown when a black Limousine stopped before me.
A man over 1.9 m tall, dressed in a pure black suit came out of the car. His warm voice was like the ray of light in the impenetrable darkness.
"Happy birthday, little princess.
Did you recognize Alpha Xavion as your soulmate?"
My brother, Howard's query broke the bounds of my restraints. I rushed to hug him.
"Xavion has found his fated mate, brother!"
Howard secured me in his embrace protectively. Unsettled by my anguish, his chest vibrated with low growls.
"Tell me, little princess. What can I do for you?
Your brother can avenge your honor."
With the power of the entire East Kingdom, it was child's play to take care of an Alpha of a pack for us. But I was done with all the suffering.
Sobbing piteously, I requested him.
"Take me home, brother. I am tired!"
...
That heartsick brother-sister duo rode the black Limousine to leave the campus, closing the chapter of unrequited love. They were unaware of the fact that a mobile camera had saved this moment from afar ...
Azlynn's P.O.V.
*Five years later! *
"Dad, you must see this file!
Our little princess has contributed a lot to our family business."
It's been five years, and my dad hasn't forgiven me for my wild adventures. So, this business file was one of the countless attempts of Howard for our relationship.
As usual, dad didn't spare a glance for my achievements and asked.
"Did anyone know that it was her idea?"
Howard's face lost all its colors for a moment, he looked at dad helplessly.
"No, dad!
I know that no one should be aware of our little princess's presence ..."
"Good!"
Dad nodded, handling him another file.
"Go and attend the meeting with clients. I don't want any mistakes."
Well, there was no need to instruct my perfectionist brother, it was just my dad's method to ignore me. Seeing my dad's no-lift mode, I nudged my elbow in Howard's rib cage for our next move.
He took a deep breath and spoke cautiously, "Our little princess has tackled multiple projects single-handedly, bringing great fortune. Now, she wants to start her own business ..."
This unusual news froze my dad's hands on the laptop's keyboard, he raised his brow and scoffed.
"A business?
Totally rubbish!"
His straight-forward refusal was quite expected, but I had done so much for the family's glory that this opportunity seemed like my right. Dad didn't consider my hard work, ignoring it like nothing, my rebellious side was ablaze with fury.
"I deserve to own my company, dad. Can't you see ..."
Dad listened to my protests with icy glare, and then took off his glasses,
"Only living beings like Howard can own a company, princess. Have you ever heard about a ghost in a thriving business?"
His statement hinted towards the plight of my life, frustrating me more. I touched my silky white hair involuntarily and growled back at him.
"I am not a ghost, but an Alpha wolf, dad. You can't imprison me in this Palace for my whole life."
Howard hurriedly grasped my hand to stop me, but I had successfully offended the devil. The fury was evident from my dad's red face, he took out a brown envelope from the drawer and threw it on the table.
"I, King Vindel Burdock Ambrosia of the East, have only one son according to the records. You don't even exist in the East Royals family tree ..."
"Just because of a stupid prophecy!"
I cut him off sharply, "No one remembers that decades' old crap, dad. Those crackheads were mistaken."
My heart hitched to my throat as dad got up and roared in his Alpha glory.
"Oracle Delilah wasn't wrong, princess. If it was the case, how can you explain your white hair, silver eyes, and birth at Christmas?
She had clearly said that such a girl will bring disaster to the North Kingdom!"
The mention of that wretched prophecy turned my mouth bitter, that was the reason my dad couldn't acknowledge me in public.
Well, I wasn't supposed to be alive as the King of the four Kingdoms signed a treaty to kill that girl right after her birth. However, my mom died during labor, her last wish on the deathbed saved my life.
So, here I was, locked in the thick walls of the Palace, living the life of a prisoner.
The situation escalated pretty quickly as we repeated the years old arguments again, but Howard had a trick up his sleeves.
He finally showed his trump card in the end, "Dad, witch Alicia had read her fortune and gave us hope for the future.
Our little princess can live a normal life with her soulmate."
Mr. Savior aka my unknown mate bestowed upon by Moon Goddess was my dad's kryptonite, he was outclassed by Howard's mastery.
"But we haven't found our princess's mate in our Kingdom."
"That's the point, dad!" Howard immediately proposed a solution.
"We haven't found him in the East. What about widening our search area and starting to look in the South Kingdom?
The North Kingdom is her enemy and the lycans live in the West Kingdom. So, the south is our best shot."
My dear brother prepared a persuasive speech, convincing my dad with his exceptional skills. Eventually, my dad couldn't resist the allure of my soulmate and surrendered.
"Alright, you can go to the South Kingdom and conceal your identity like before.
And one more thing!
Hayley will not go with you."
Leaving without Hayley was a heart-rending decision, but I agreed for the sake of our future.
"As you say, dad!"
...
"These are the legal documents of your sports agency, little princess. Welcome to the world of cheating and deceit."
I rolled my eyes at Howard's dramatic tone; he was behaving like I was new to the ebbs and flows of business. But he was persistent, warning me.
"Working behind the scenes and on the front foot are drastically different matters, little princess. You must be extra-cautious."
Howard registered my company under his loyal assistant's name, appointing her as my boss.
"Daleyza will ensure your safety and guide you in your new journey, little princess. You will work as her secretary in the office."
"No! Please brother!"
My pitiful cries didn't melt Howard's stone heart, he was one step ahead of our dad.
"Lake city is the business hub of the South Kingdom. Not to mention, Alpha Xavion is a successful businessman and a national star here as well.
I just want you to be safe!"
Xavion!
This name refreshed the lacerations deep in my soul, aching my chest. After that painful breakup, I hardened my heart, giving up on my obsessive love for him. That asshole had ruined my life with his betrayal, playing with my heart like his other girlfriends. Obviously, I was a fool who trusted a celebrity blindly.
Based on that grim experience, I decided to follow Howard's words and collaborated with Daleyza. She was a delicate girl of my age. Our friendly duo completed the formalities in a record speed and invited media representatives for a press conference at the inauguration ceremony.
Due to Howard's influence, our small company got plenty of attention, journalists from every prestigious media platform attended the event.
"Why do you think that your new company can stand a chance among successful agencies, Miss Daleyza?"
As the owner, Daleyza was facing tough questions from the press, I was instructing her for answers through a hearing device. She was handling them like a pro.
In this public event, I was ignored just like we wanted, my cinnamon omega scent even offended some guests in the hall. Everything was under our best control until a girl raised a query.
"Have you planned to approach the football star, Xavion Waller, for this season, Miss Daleyza?"
The deafening silence engulfed the whole room in a jiffy, leaving me aghast. I was frozen to my spot, unable to react to this question.
The scenes of my heart-rending past flashed across my mind, stabbing my chest with a silver blade. Suppressing my agony, I could only utter an incoherent response.
"No!
We will never sign him!"
