Walking down the street to a nearby cafe, I was wondering if my decision to move out of my father's huge mansion was right. I am the only daughter, and that decision was slowly killing me apart. I am going to leave my old father alone in the house, with all the maid and butler we have.
I have obeyed all of his orders before. Until one day he decided to arrange my marriage to his best business friend. One of our family friend. Although I have known them since I was in middle school, their only son was a few years younger than me. That made him more like a younger brother to me. How am I to react as his wife soon.
I entered the familiar cozy cafe with a heavy heart. Never I imagined that I am going to get marry this soon. I just hope he didnt feel the same. I dont want to end up my life with someone I do not love. I wanted a happy marriage where my husband and I will love till death do us apart. For now, hope will just remained a hope.
I walked further into the cafe to a secluded booth far from the cafe entrance. I noticed a few eyes were on me as I stripped of my trench coat and hung it on my chair. The warm air inside the cafe immediately surrounded me as I took my seat. A waiter came over and took my order before dismissed immediately behind the counter.
I felt somebody's eyes were still lingered on me when I suddenly looked up to a far corner of the cafe. I frowned and quickly ignored the lingering eyes and continued swiping my phone. A latest model handphone, product of my own company, Ardell Group and Company.
"Here your drinks.Enjoy." I looked up to a girl voice in front of me. A soft smile appeared on my face.
"Thanks, Anita." I said, noticing a nametag on the right side of her vest. She gave me a small smile before walked away from my booth.
I continued browsing my handphone when a name appeared on the screen. I quickly swiped to answer.
"Stacy, " A husky slurry voice sounded in a distant. Instantly I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, Derek." I replied nonchalantly.
"I...I.. found her. She was here." he said.
Derek was the only friend I have. I never have a real friend except for him. Every single person that I met before was fake. I was from a boarding school, a well-known for every living billionaires in this whole world. Every time I introduced myself as an Ardell every eyes instantly on me. I dont need that unnecessary attentions I just wanted to be myself for once.
And that was when I was with Derek. But no, I was not crushing on him. He was the one person that my father arranged my marriage with. He was the younger brother I never have. After that, I met Kevin, his personal assistant cum his company's legally lawyer. We have worked together for a few times and from that we grew even closer.
His secret was with me, and mine was with him. We were so close just like that. The four of us. Plus Nicholas. His friend I have met him once I visited Valentino's family in Amsterdam. They became my friends instantly because I never really have friends in my school. That was when I was able to visit them. If not because of them, then I am the richest Rapunzel in my father's damn mansion.
I sighed. As soon as Derek finished told me everything about meeting his long lost love, I quickly put my phone on the table and grabbed my drinks. I sipped them slowly, tasting every particles of the cold drink on my tongue. Suddenly my eyes catched a glimpse of note stuck on my cup. A white note with a few words was on it.
I quickly looked around before I turned my eyes back onto the notes.
Smile more, you are beautiful

"THE QUEEN FINALLY AT THE EDGE OF SEPARATION."
I heard Gwyneth recited the entertainment news in front of me as we gathered in my office for my today's schedule. I instantly rolled my eyes.
Gwyneth was my secretary as I am the Chief Executive Officer of my father's company. Formerly it was my father, but right now he was taking his time, leisurely taking a break in Greece. He said that he had worked for so many years and now it was his time to rest.
I was not very pleased with his decision, but considering that he was my father, I agreed anyway. To think that he was not in the office for a quite sometimes was actually good. At least I dont have to hear about he blabbering me again about my marriage.
Please, I just wanted to enjoy my life for a few more years. Or more. I dont know.
"Rumours were heard that they had internal issues regarding the sponsorship for their next roadtour....."
"Gwyneth." I said. I saw her quickly looked at me from her tab with a questioning look. I raised my eyebrows immediately.
"Oh, I am sorry." she said as she swiping her tab for my schedule.
"So, for today, you have a meeting with Mr. Valentino and his lawyer at 11 pm. He wanted a casual meeting and it was to be held here, in your office." Gwyneth started reciting the schedule. I nodded slightly while joting a memo on my phone.
"After lunch, you will have a meeting and a small hi tea with The Queen's manager, regarding their sponsorship for their next roadtour." I looked up to her telling her to continue.
"As per meeting that you had held before, you are going to watch their performance but the date and the venue are yet to be decide." she continued and finished reciting about my schedule's description.
Gwyneth was dismissed right after she was done with her task for that morning. Leaving me alone with a pile of work that had to be done before I settle down for the day. I had answered a few calls from the production management before a loud knock echoed throughout my room.
"Come in, " I said, very short.
The door was slowly opened and a man slipped through. Derek Valentino walked up to me that was still sitting comfortably on my chair and sat on one of the chair in front of me. Kevin followed put.
I eventually glanced to my wristwatch when I realised they were an hour early than their appointment. I rolled my eyes. These two guys in front of me just knew where to hit my nerve. Well, I am not saying that I hate them early but I may be very please if they can be puntual. To think of it, they were punctual but a little bit early.
Or whatever.
"Good morning guys." I said, faking a shock expression on my face. Both of them chuckled lightly.
"Very funny right? Way too early for our meeting." I cut them off.
"Relax, Stacy. We were going for breakfast, thinking of asking you to come along." Derek said.
"Yeah, we can just have our discussion over breakfast." Kevin added beside him.
"How about, we discuss right now and head off to breakfast later, hm?" I said, asking them afterwards. I saw both of them frowned before eventually they sighs in unison.
"Fine." They both said.
To think that I have my utmost power in my own office managed to make me laugh at their behaviour. After a few months of not meeting them, I really missed my old friends. The only friends that knew me more than my father did.
Derek Valentino, how am I suppose to be your wife soon. I will never going to love you more than a brother. Plus you already had your eyes set on someone back in your highschool. How am I suppose to tell my father about this? I have to plan something, for both Derek and me.
I hummed to a unanimous song and started our two hours meeting smoothly after that little bit of daydreams. Luckily both guys in front of me didnt notice.

Friday came by quickly than I ever thought. I was creating my own little bubble of dream inside my massive ceo room when Gwyneth entered my room without knocking them first. I looked up to the door with a questioning look on my face.
"Anything you wanna tell me better be good." I cut her off seeing her gasping for air. What did this girl do huh? Running a marathon inside the office?
"The Queen have set the date for the perfomance." she said.
That was why she was running earlier. Gwyneth and The Queen. A die hard fan in which I thought she would die if the band finally separate. To be honest, I dont think they needed to separate their own way. They just need to find a wise sponsorship which what I had been doing for these few weeks. Thinking about a good opportunity to sign them up for our latest product.
For that to be done, I have to ensure they are still together and their fan were still counting higher every weeks. That was the use of the fan club that they had created. I have to supervise the fan counting and now, I wanted to see how good they were through their performance.
"Yes, Gwyneth, please continue." I answered her with a small smile plastered on my face.
"It was next week, for the charity event of Malibu Association, a foundation for cancer patients." she said.
"It was estimated to start between 7 to 8 pm, after all the VIP guests arrival and we are one of them. The event was actually a charity dinner and we are to be the dress accordingly. I will send the detail to your email." She added. I nodded slightly before I spoke.
Another event in the weekends. That was why my father never at home during my younger years. He was always out with business companions either to secure projects or to leisurely having time for himself. Although I knew he had a few scandals with women throughout the years, I respect him for never bringing them home.
"Okay, Gwyneth. Please clear up my schedule on Friday. I will take a day off before I am going to the charity. Are you coming?" I asked her. She quickly nodded eagerly.
"Of course. Free opportunity plus I dont have anything to do that day." she said happily. I chuckled a little at her behaviour.
Later that day I finished up my works and continued reschedule my meeting for the week. I thought I may have to settle at least half of my works before I take a day off next week. I sighed.
The works kept piling up at the end of the day and I was already exhausted. I looked up to the wall clock and rest my back against the comfy chair. A day have flew by and I didnt even notice.
Suddenly I missed the old me when I was in college. All free and did not have problem to be bothered with. My father let me free because he knew, once I was done with the university's life, I would be tied for him. As long as I still wanted to inherit his business, then he was okay with anything I wanted to do during my study.
I slumped my body and released a huge breath. I dont think I have a thought in his decision. But I am a grown up girl. I am a lady. I can have my own space too. I just need to coax him a little bit more. Maybe his little escapade to Greece had opened up his mind, just a little is enough.
Finally I saw a little bit of light. Yes, I can discuss this again with him, some other time.
I took a glance at my wristwatch and quickly stood up. It was almost 8 pm and my stomach has started to growl a few minutes ago. I flicked off the lights and walked slowly to the elevator.
Its Friday night, and I was still alone.
