Chapter 1 I Heard You Can Drink A Lot (Part One)

It happened late at night.

Wendy Ning followed Mr. Yang inside a private room. As soon as she passed the threshold, she felt a strange atmosphere envelope her.

Dim light illuminated the room. Two men sat on the sofa. There were two female models leaning against each of them.

There was an exception, though. One man was sitting alone in a corner, his tall and rigid body hidden in the darkness. He emitted an arrogant yet noble aura, just like how an emperor would look like.

Wendy Ning couldn't see the man's face clearly because of the darkness. The only thing clear to her eyesight was two slender legs dangling from the sofa.

Several pair of eyes fell on her and Mr. Yang. Mr. Yang flashed a flattering smile and apologetically said, "Sorry to keep you waiting. We had to deal with an urgent matter in the company."

Wendy Ning followed Mr. Yang to the sofa. Before she had a chance to sit down, her body was pushed to the side.

Mr. Yang then whispered, "Don't sit here. Go and accompany Mr. Xiao."

Wendy Ning was pushed hard, and the force caused her to stumble and fall. She ended up beside the mysterious man sitting upright in the dark corner.

"Sit," the man ordered her in a low and steady voice. His voice was magnetic. His words, even though short, made her unable to refuse.

Wendy Ning, who was facing the dim corner, shivered uncontrollably from hearing the charming voice.

There was great fear in her eyes, and it seemed like she stopped breathing. She felt paralyzed.

"Sit down!" The man's deep voice instructed her once again. It was cold and fierce, and no one could resist his commanding presence.

Her heart skipped a beat and she couldn't get herself to move. After she stood still for a moment, the man's slender and powerful hand pulled her down.

The light was still dim, but since she was sitting beside him now, she finally saw his face. His lazy and elegant posture was accompanied by a handsome face with a resolved expression. From her view, his outline looked perfectly delicate yet masculine.

It really was him-Greg Xiao!

She would never ever forgive this man.

Bang!

The sudden loud sound startled Wendy Ning out of her musings. Greg Xiao had put a full bottle of whisky on the edge of the table.

"I'll come straight to the point." Greg Xiao sneered and looked at Mr. Yang. "Mr. Yang, ask her to drink the bottle of whisky. That might make me consider signing the contract."

Wendy Ning didn't dare to look at him anymore. She gripped the hem of her dress tightly. It looked as though she was going to tear her dress into pieces.

She certainly didn't expect a reunion with Greg Xiao here and now, right when her life was at its darkest time.

The incident three years ago didn't only destroy her family, it also ruined her romantic relationship with him.

Now, her father was in prison due to debt after their company descended into bankruptcy. Her mother, on the other hand, was seriously ill. Lastly, her younger brother still lacked funds to continue his college education.

All the burden unexpectedly fell on her alone. She didn't have a choice. Her salary wasn't exactly high. It was only enough to keep their whole family from dying of hunger.

That was why she came here with Mr. Yang. Her job was to get the client to sign their contract.

This task would earn her a bonus of twenty thousand dollars. That was just enough to temporarily cover the cost of her mother's medical examination and her brother's tuition fee.

Wendy Ning noticed Mr. Yang staring at her expectedly. He was counting on her to make their client sign the contract.

"Okay, Mr. Xiao. I'll drink." She grabbed the bottle on the table. Tears started streaming down her face even before she could actually drink it.

The room was quiet, the sound of her swallowing the liquid echoed in the room. The drink tasted spicy and bitter, and it made Wendy's throat burn.

"Great!"

"Mr. Xiao, you have to keep your word in front of our heroine!"

The other two men were teasing her. One applauded and the other looked at Wendy Ning up and down.

Greg Xiao curled his lips and smiled. His cold eyes were full of disdain. He looked at the woman who was still swallowing the whisky with contempt.

In no time, Wendy Ning had already finished half a bottle of whisky. She almost felt suffocated, so she put the bottle down to rest. At this point, the pungent smell of alcohol already exuded from her throat.

"I heard you can drink a lot. Keep drinking." Greg Xiao's cold voice came to her ears with contempt.

Wendy Ning turned pale from hearing that familiar voice. It was strange. The man she couldn't forget had now become someone so unfamiliar to her.

Perhaps Greg Xiao had forgotten their past. A past wherein he loved her at her sight, took good care of her, and even asked her to be his fiancee.

Unshed tears were blurring her eyes, but the thought of her supposed bonus reignited her determination. She closed her eyes and raised her head to pour whisky in her throat again.

Actually, if Greg Xiao still remembered, she wasn't really good at drinking.

But she looked at him when she rested just now, and all she saw in his eyes was coldness.

Greg Xiao liked to see her suffer.

With a loud bang, the bottle was put on the table again. She did it. She emptied a whole bottle of whisky.

"Mr. Xiao, I finished it." Her voice sounded hoarse now. The large amount of alcohol clearly affected her, and she began falling into a trance. It was as if she had stepped foot into hell.

Hoping that Greg Xiao would quickly fulfill his promise, she raised her head at him. However, he coldly said, "You want me to sign the contract just because you drank one bottle of whisky? What do you think of me?"

"Mr. Xiao, you just said that as long as I drink this bottle of wine, you will sign the contract."

Disappointment and hesitation flooded her system. She stared at him with pleading eyes even though she felt like falling down from drinking so much.

"Ha-ha..." Greg Xiao sneered and tilted her chin up to face him.

Chapter 2 I Heard You Can Drink A Lot (Part Two)

"Miss Ning, do you think you have the right to make me do things here? I just said that I would consider signing it."

He was furious. He flicked his hand and threw her delicate body to the sofa.

One of the two men asked, "Beautiful, drinking is not enough to make Mr. Xiao sign the contract. How about a performance?"

Mr. Yang just sat and smiled. He had no choice; he had no power. He was only the boss of a small company. There was no way he could go against these business tycoons. He had to be obedient.

"No, no... Gentlemen, I'm drunk. Can I just rest?" She begged. She was repulsed by the flirtatious tone of the middle-aged man, but she ignored it along with her growing need to throw up.

Greg Xiao's earlier insidious expression morphed into softness. He smiled but the smile looked weird and dangerous. He then held her waist and helped her up from the sofa.

"You used to go naked in front of so many men. Why are you pretending to be holy and a virgin now?" Greg stroked her earlobe and whispered the words lowly. Painful and humiliating memories burst in his mind.

Hearing that made Wendy Ning feel that her heart was broken and crushed once again.

Greg Xiao had not forgotten what happened three years ago. Until now, he still hated her for her shameful behaviors. She had cheated on him and had her nude photos spread everywhere.

Actually, she had been trying her best to find the person who kidnapped her. The same person who took her photos and forged her handwriting to slander her in a diary. A diary which was filled with entries to make it look like she was plotting to obtain the Xiao family's properties.

After a few years had passed, the person who set her up disappeared without a trace. It was as if the person didn't exist at all.

She had no way to refute the accusations and explain her innocence. There was no way for her to find out the truth either.

"Mr. Xiao, please..." Wendy Ning bit her lips hard. A sad and touching expression adorned her face.

When the other two men saw this, they couldn't help but deescalate the situation. They claimed that they were just joking.

But the painful and piercing emotions in Greg Xiao's heart was now back in full force. He couldn't control any of his emotions and he let his heart be filled with resentment and humiliation.

"You'd better beg yourself." Greg Xiao sat back on the sofa. "If you want me to sign the contract, you better make me happy first. You've done that before, haven't you? Think about it."

Wendy Ning frowned before a head splitting headache struck her. This was most probably caused by her severely drunken state. She understood that Greg wanted to use this opportunity to humiliate her.

But she would rather die than give him that chance.

She stumbled to get up from the sofa and walked towards Mr. Yang who looked trapped in a serious dilemma with himself.

Their company has been performing badly. It had even gotten to the point where they had to issue a memo soon to inform a collective layoff of employees. This contract was important. It could secure their company's future.

Wendy Ning sadly apologized, "Mr. Yang, I can drink but I really cannot do what he is asking."

Mr. Yang helplessly sighed. He badly wanted to secure this deal tonight.

"If you can't, then you won't have any work starting tomorrow." Mr. Yang finalized his decision and turned away from her.

The atmosphere in the private room froze. Wendy Ning was in despair as she glanced at the these shameless men.

"Gentlemen, enjoy yourselves." She smiled sadly and resentfully at the whole situation. She had already made her decision. She turned towards the door to leave.

Three years ago, she was unable to resist in fear of losing her life, but now, she was determined not to suffer the same humiliation.

"Wait!"

Just as she was about to open the door and leave, she was stopped by a low voice coming from the corner.

She still had her back turned away from the men. Her body was trembling, and heat was exuding from her whole body.

She heard Greg Xiao's footsteps approaching her. She still didn't dare to look back.

As much as she couldn't let go of her deep love for him, she was also deathly afraid of this cold and ruthless man.

Greg Xiao walked up to her to grab her arm and drag her back to the sofa.

"Do you really think you can just come and go as you please?" He slowly said those words in a menacing and ruthless voice.

He lifted her chin and used his other hand to pour the whisky into her mouth.

"If you really want to leave, finish this bottle first!"

She struggled against him in horror, but her body was weak. She wasn't able to exert any strength anymore. After hearing his sharp words, her mind gradually slipped into unconsciousness.

She was in a daze. It felt like being in a coma while being wet all over. She was surrounded by cold water and her wet bangs stubbornly stuck on her forehead.

'Where am I?'

In a stupor, Wendy Ning remembered that she was just about to leave the private room when Greg Xiao grabbed her back and forced her to drink. She helplessly struggled until she became unconscious.

She was about to open her eyes again, but she felt a rough hand grabbing her hair and soaking her face with water.

She was caught off guard, and she choked on a large mouthful of water. Her instincts pushed her to struggle, and her brain instantly woke up from the overpowering alcohol.

Chapter 3 Kneel Down And Beg

As Wendy continued to struggle, her head was raised. She took this chance to plead loudly. "Don't drown me! Please, I still have to take care of my mother and brother."

Tears mixed with cold water trickled down on her face.

"Drown you?"

Greg's voice dripped with sarcasm. Wendy opened her eyes and was promptly blinded by the dazzling light from the ceiling. It was then she realized that she was half kneeling towards a bathtub filled with water.

It looked like Greg's home. She had been brought here from the private room.

Greg coldly glowered at her. In a disgusted voice, he said, "Why are you panicking? I'm just cleaning your body. You vomited all over my car just now."

After explaining, Greg noticed Wendy's dress. It was wet so it clung to her slender and shriveled up body. She looked totally different from before, back when she had a nice hourglass-shaped figure.

Only God knew what kind of life she had been living during the past three years. She was as skinny as a malnourished homeless person.

For a moment, that sight made Greg's heart ache, but it didn't last long. He decided to suppress his emotions.

He was resolved to no longer worry about her. He was sure to never treat her as his most prized treasure again.

Wendy had made herself a laughingstock. She was greedy and she plotted for his family's demise.

But the most unbearable thing for Greg was seeing Wendy's nude photos. They were pictures that revealed her terrible past before they even knew each other.

"I'm sorry, Greg. I didn't mean to throw up in your car. I was so drunk. I didn't realize what I was doing. Please just let me go home!" Wendy gazed at his cold face and begged him.

Greg was absorbed in his thoughts. She was afraid that he was just thinking of more ways to torture her.

She had a thin body now, that was true, but she still hadn't lost her attractiveness and allure.

"I haven't seen you for three years and yet you're still the same. You haven't stopped doing shameless and despicable things!" Greg sneered and pushed her against the wall.

As if her chest was suddenly shot with a thousand sharp arrows, Wendy felt her heart stop beating for a second.

"No! I did nothing wrong!" Wendy argued desperately while her face was still shoved against the cold bathroom wall. She felt immensely powerless.

Greg ignored her words. He stepped one foot into the bathtub and pushed Wendy's head with a hand. He clung to her cold wet body and whispered in her ear, "If I weren't in that private room tonight, would you have sold your body?"

"No, I was there to do business with my boss!" Wendy's brain was buzzing with panic now. She screamed her answer in hopes of making Greg learn the truth clearly.

Hearing the loud scream, Greg's face turned fierce. He surged forward to bite Wendy's neck.

Wendy howled in pain. There wasn't anything else she could do since her body was still firmly pressed against the wall.

"You've already slept with so many people, but you haven't slept with your ex-fiance yet." Greg rubbed against Wendy's skin fueled by humiliation and anger. After a few seconds, he felt intense disgust in his heart and let her go.

Wendy crossed her arms and wistfully stared at him. "Believe it or not, I haven't had sex with anyone."

She then reached up to touch the wound from Greg's bite. She felt a sharp pain as soon as her hand made contact with it and she frowned.

Seeing her pained expression, Greg looked down on her and squinted. "If you're in pain, kneel down and beg. Maybe that would make me happy and let you go."

At this point, Wendy's heart hurt so much that she couldn't breathe. She also felt so cold that her teeth involuntarily chattered.

Nevertheless, she wouldn't kneel down to beg Greg. She was starting to regret not being determined enough in the private room. She shouldn't have given him the chance to bring her home.

"No way!" Wendy retorted.

"You are so stubborn." Greg sneered in disbelief. He narrowed his eyes at her and wiped the blood off the corner of his mouth. He started walking towards Wendy.

"Bastard, put me down!"

Wendy's feet dangled in the air as she was carried by Greg into the bedroom.

She kicked desperately but her feet only touched air. Her hands though, were continuously hitting Greg's chest.

With a thud, Wendy was mercilessly thrown down and her thin body fell right in the middle of the bed.

Her wet clothes dripped onto the bed sheets. Her hair was dripping wet too and it clung to her cheeks as she struggled to get up.

Greg, who stood in front of the bed, eyed her dangerously. He pursed his lips and clenched his fists before asking coldly, "You said I'm a bastard?"

"Yes! You are a bastard! You don't know what's right from wrong and you don't keep your promises. I drank so much but you still refused to sign the contract!" Wendy glared at him as she sat on the bed. Her face turned paler by the second from being wet and cold for so long.

Greg's face reddened with anger and he shook his head. He turned around to walk to the table and got a cigarette. He lit it before staring at Wendy again whose condition somehow made him feel distressed and sad at the same time.

However, the pain and humiliation he experienced in the past still wrapped his heart in distrust. Greg no longer believed in any woman.

In his eyes, Wendy was just a stupid and frivolous woman.

He puffed out a cloud of smoke before speaking to her again. His voice was laced with disgust. "You'll know the fate of the contract tomorrow. If you think I'm a bastard, then what are you? You are dirty!"

Again, Wendy felt like her heart was deeply and painfully stabbed.

Yes, she was dirty. In Greg's eyes, she was a person who had slept with many people.

"Then why did you bring me here? Don't touch me if you think I'm dirty!" Wendy shouted at him and tried hard to hold back her tears. It was hard considering that she was plagued with disappointment and sadness.

Her logical answer irritated Greg. His eyes darkened and his expression turned feral. It looked as if he was ready to eat Wendy up.

He abruptly threw the cigarette on the floor and lunged forward to throw Wendy out of the bed.

"You're right. Get out of here right now!"

The force of being thrown out of the bed caused Wendy's shoulder to hit the corner of the table. She clenched her teeth at the immediate piercing pain, unable to speak.

Greg had completely changed. She didn't know him anymore. He was just a stranger now.

This thought fired up Wendy's determination to leave. She endured the searing pain and picked up her handbag on the floor before going out of the bedroom.

That night, Wendy chose to hide in a small hotel room instead of going home. She spent all night clad in her wet dress with tears streaming down her face.

She didn't dare to let her mother see her state. She had two wounds on her shoulder and neck that were all clearly visible. She was in such a mess.

The next morning, she bought medicine gauze and band aids from a drugstore to hide her wounds. She rushed to the company afterwards.

Wendy cared more about whether she could keep her job or not. Her fear of being unemployed was for more important than her feelings of being heartbroken over Greg.

Right now, her family was in a severe financial crisis. The medical and school fees were not the only things she needed to pay for. There were still the daily necessities.

However, it was impossible to support a family of three with her meager monthly salary. She had originally hoped on receiving the twenty thousand dollars bonus from her boss, but she wasn't sure of that now. She couldn't exactly depend on the CEO of their partner company which, sadly, turned out to be Greg Xiao.

So, if she lost this job, their whole family's life would be in danger. They would need her to save them through other means.

Wendy entered the company uneasily. Just as she was about to look for her boss, she was called by his secretary.

"Wendy, Mr. Yang is throwing a fit. He's too angry so don't go to find him yet. I was scolded just now," the secretary complained, clueless as to why their boss was so angry.

Wendy nodded in understanding and comforted the secretary in a soft voice. She turned around, intending to go to her seat and start working, but she was called by their boss who just walked out of his office.

"This is your salary for this month. I will still give you monetary compensation but only for the next two weeks. We're done after that. Take this and leave now." Mr. Yang sat in his chair and faced the window to gaze at the sky. He threw a packed cash and a dismissal letter for Wendy on the table.

She was dumbfounded. She felt like she was in nightmare as she left the office with a thin stack of salary.

As it turned out, Wendy fainted after drinking one and a half bottle of whisky. Still, Greg remained heartless and took her home without signing the contract.

This was it. Wendy just lost her job. All she had right now was several thousand dollars in her pocket.

She was in a daze, but she soon made it home and saw her mother washing her clothes.

Wendy felt a pang of pain in her chest. She had been so consumed with work these days that she forgot to wash her own clothes. It has gotten so bad that it even forced her sick mother to clean them herself.

She put her arms around her mother's waist, hugging her from behind. Tears streamed down her face as she felt her mother's warmth. She was home.

"Wendy, what's wrong with your body?" Her mother turned around. Her kind smile was instantly replaced with shock when her eyes landed on Wendy's bruises.

"It's okay. I hit myself by accident!" Wendy shook her head, trying her best to look calm. She then rushed to her room to hide.

"No way! That's impossible!"

The following day, Wendy was anxiously waiting for her mother at home when she received a phone call from the traffic police.

Yesterday, after her mother saw the bruises on her body, she was compelled to come out with the truth.

Wendy wasn't really good at lying so she had to tell her mother what really happened the night before that day.
