Fearless: Unknown Origin

Sitting in front of the large meeting hall suited in the middle of the building having at least hundred rooms. She faced the door and chairs in sets of two facing each other. The feared Mia Baska sits on her customized wooden chair carved into a lion.

The arm of the chair was carved like that of the limbs of a lion. The chair had two swords placed in the ground in a cross like manner at both side. A meter away from the chair were a two step stairs.She sat with her legs crossed and her face covered in a balaclava which only revealed her eyes. She was dark skinned and elegantly dressed in a turtle neck long black top having splits at the side what was at least 30 centimeters long and a black leggings.

Her wrist were beautifully decorated with a chain bangle.

Her eyes looked serious and whosoever that stepped in will know this as the aura in the room was serious. Mia Baska was always a serious individual who people feared because they hardly saw her smile. No one knew if she smiled or not as she covers her face with a mask all the time.

No one has dared to remove the mask from her face as they fear for their lives. Mia has been known to be straight forward and definitely aggressive when need be. She was a master at fighting skills that whosoever that dares her receives a good beating either by her or her troops.

The double sliding door of the meeting hall opens and a dark, tall and nicely dressed man walks into the building. On his right side of his waist lies a rifle and on the left is a dagger. He walks boldly before Mia and halts few steps away from her. He bows before Mia.

"He is here and he continues nagging seeking to see you" he said

Mia remained unmoving like a statue. She stared at the man before him and pondered on his words before nodding. The man bowed and headed for the door.

"Liam" a loud but sweet voice called out

Liam halts and turns around. Liam was the closest person to Mia Baska. The entire troops saw him as the second in command after Mia. He was devoted to Mia and he rarely flops Mia's plans or fails to impress her. Mia cherishes him because he reminds her of her brother whom she lost.

"Yes ma" Liam said

"Did he state his intention?" Mia inquired

"No, he only said it was private and only you needed to know his intention" Liam replied

Mia nods and Liam leaves the room. After about five minutes, Liam walked back into the room and a tall, old and fair man walked in behind him and dressed in a sweat pants and ash T-shirt.

Liam gestures with his hands for the man to move forward towards Mia while Mia sat watching like she was not breathing. The man did as instructed and moved forward they stopped right in front of the two step stairs.

Mia and the man stared at themselves before the man glanced at Liam who was standing beside the door with his legs spread and his hands behind his back looking above them.

The man kept on glancing at Liam and eventually Mia complied to his request.

"Liam" she called out

"Yes ma" Liam replied and looked at her

Mia gestured with her hand for him to leave and in no time Liam was out of the room. Mia clicked a mini button underneath the right arm of the chair. The man in front of her was not to be trusted.

Mia placed her elbow on the arm of her chair and her chin on her palm as she adjusted her sitting position staring at the person in front of her.

He was no other person than Louis Baska the ex-CEO of Baska's Industries Limited (BIL) and most importantly the father of Mia Baska. He was always on suit and having a stern business face but he looked wrinkled and tattered, just the way Mia liked it.

Fifteen years ago, Mia was a troublesome child not on her own accord but due to the family she was brought up in. Every morning the Baska's mansion was always filled with shouting, fighting and mostly sobs.

Louis Baska was married to Marie Baska a dark and beautiful lady. The both had six children; William, Sophia, Isabella, Lucas, Liam and Mia, respectively. The Baska's mansion was a war zone for the entire family in which Louis always won.

Each morning he yells at Marie Baska and ends up beating her. Mia and Liam were the only dark child they had and their bond were supernatural. They were both born on the same day but not same year. Liam was two years older than Mia but they had the same height.

Right from her little days, Louis hated and dispised her for reasons he has never stated. Mia and Liam attended same school while the others attended different schools. Louis would always pick up Liam and leave Mia behind. Liam noticed this and always hid whenever he came around to walk home with Mia.

Mia hated Louis due to all he has done. Once some police officers came over and arrested Marie because of Louis and when she was released few days later, he best her up saying she wanted to cheat on him and that was why she was taken in place of him.

Mia overheard this conversation and her heart boiled in anger. None of Marie's endeavor make meaning to Louis. Each day, their children watch Louis beat Marie. Few days after Mia's nineth birthday, Marie went to the kitchen to prepare food for the family while the others sleep except Mia who refused to take a nap after which she left the house with Mia to the supermarket.

Louis woke up and heard the shower in Marie's bathroom on with the door looked.

He walked into the kitchen took out the gas and placed it in the middle of the sitting room and poured fuel on the kitchen floor and trailed it around the house. He drove his favorite car out of the compound and and threw a lot matchstick into the house and the house began burning profusely.

Boom!!!

A tremendous sound was heard inside the house. Marie and Mia got back from the supermarket and spotted the fire brigade in the house trying to stop the fire. Mia and Marie stood still holding each other staring at the burnt house in front of them.

Silent tears rolled down Marie's face as Mia trembled in fear. Mia let go of Marie and ran towards one of the fire brigade personnel who analyzed the damage with Marie walking after her.

"Sir, is... is my brother okay?" Mia asked between her sobs

The fire brigade personnel could only stare at the sobbing child in front of him pitifully. He had no idea what to say to a nine years old child that would not ruin her resolve. Marie walks up to the personnel.

"Answer her question because I too want to know," She said

"Ma'am whosoever that was in there during the fire is gone. There was gas emission and fuel was spilled everywhere in the house the only thing recoverable was this" the personal said handing over two pictures

One contains Marie and her children and the other Mia and Liam with matching t-shirts. Mia snatched the picture of her and Liam, hugging it tightly. Like in a trance, she drops the picture and runs into the house.

The house was hardly recognizable. The couch was burnt, every single thing was now in ashes except the main building which had a huge hole on the roof which was caused by the explosion from the gas cylinder.

She ran up the stairs and dashed into the room, ashes filled every and it was dark with smoke everywhere. Mia coughed once in while in the building. She looked around the room.

"Liam, it's me, Mia please come out. You... you aren't d-dead please" Mia cried out and falls to the ground

On the ground was a golden chain bracelet which she bought for Liam on his birthday and Liam always wore it. The children had noticed the fire but before they could escape the fire caught up to them and they died but the bracelet was untouched and it seemed to be shining brightly.

Mia hugged the bracelet crying. Marie came in with some fire brigade personnel and took Mia out of the building.

"So my husband is dead?" Marie asked the personnel

"No, ma'am he is perfectly fine. He is just with our superior discussing insurance" the personnel said

"You mean..." Maria trails off as she does not know how to react to the news she just got

"So how much will I be given?" a voice very familiar asked

"I believe 20 million" an elderly, soft voice spoke

Marie believes that must be the superior the personnel told them about.

"Just 20 million? Can't I have more?" Louis inquired

"I doubt that. That's what the insurance company told me" the superior said

Marie and Mia turn to face the two men speaking to each other. Louis does not notice their presence until the discussion was done.

"What are you doing here?" Louis asked shocked

Marie shook her head realizing a painful truth. Her husband is formally a monster as he stooped so low just to get rid of her and their children died. He does not feel remorseful. She never thought her husband would go to this length to get her out of the house and his life.

"You did all this right?" She blurted out

"Did what?" Louis asked with shock still all over his face

The fire brigade left immediately noticing the feeling of anger rising in the air and they did not want to get involved.

"You sly woman, how did you escape the fire? I thought you were in the bathroom " Louis asked

"That must be one of your children as their shower got spoilt and I asked them to use mine. I and Mia stepped out to get things from the supermarket and we come back to..." Marie could not finish her statement as her tears took over her

She fell to the ground crying while Mia was beside her holding onto the picture and bracelet firmly to her chest. Mia was no longer crying but sitting on the floor and bonding with the materials in her hand trying to form a smile.

"Why? Why?" Marie screamed in pain

Louis had enough of her crying and asked "You want to know why?"

Marie raised her head to look at him in surprise. He sounded like a monster. Louis bent and took Marie by the shoulder tightly and made her stand.

"You want to know why I did all this?" Louis asked "Because I hate you"

He emphasized on every word that it sent an invisible knife right through Marie's heart in pain. She could not imagine his words.

"You opened a perfume industry after I warned you against it all because I gave you an allowance every month so I decided to beat you every day so you will shut it down but you didn't" Louis paused and laughed maniacally

"I cut down all your allowance to zero and even shut down your accounts but you still did not comply with me and worse you gave birth to that stupid child over there," Louis said pointing to Mia who is now staring at the ground with the bracelet around her wrist and the picture on her chest

"But I told you all this before we got married and for five years you kept on encouraging me until you... you began cheating with your secretary "

"Marie" Louis yelled and raised his hand

Marie stopped his hand from hitting her and stared into his eyes with her eyes teary. "You want to hit me because I know the truth. I knew all along but I just wanted to make this marriage work and that's why I tried but today I see it is and was useless so you can cheat with whosoever you want and leave I and my daughter out if it" Marie said

She walks up to Mia and takes her out of Baska's mansion in anger. She was shaking and fuming in anger. Her heart felt numb and her spirit felt dead just like her children who were now ashes.

Marie and Louis filed for divorce and it was stamped leaving the custody of Mia to Marie. Louis was physically not happy about this and no one understood why it was so.

A month after the separation, Marie's perfume company rose as she had plenty of time for the business. Louis came back pleading for forgiveness and requested she came back together with him.

She refused at first but during a month he sent flowers and gifts to her. He also showed her love so they moved back into the new mansion not long after Louis was caught with a new secretary on their matrimonial bed.

Marie said nothing and treated him like a husband. Mia asked why she accepted all this.

"My love, he is not my husband" Marie replied

"I don't understand," Mia said

"Remember we divorced and we have not remarried so he can do as he pleases as far as he does not hit me, I am okay," Marie said

Marie accepted her faith and each day Louis brought ladies into the house. Marie stopped sleeping in the same room as him and moved to hers. On Mia's tenth birthday, she spent it on the beach tossing stones inside as she felt gloomy.

Marie brought cakes and gifts for her but she rejected all and requested it was given away. Mia always celebrated her birthday with Liam on the beach but on this birthday he was not and she could not take it.

A month after her birthday, Mia went missing. Deep within Louis, he felt glad that Mia was missing as he would now have peace of mind. Due to questions, he asked the media to ask the public if they had seen her but no reply came back even with the amount given for whosoever could find her, the search went on for a year by the police and the public but she was not found.

Nine years later, black jeeps which were at least up to thirty whooshed into the city with great speed towards a direction. The flowers and grasses at the side of the road looked as though they were about to be uprooted from the ground because of the wind generated from the speed of the car.

The glasses of the cars were tinted and as such no one could see who were in the cars. Passer bys thought of them as criminals who has come to invade the city. For some years, the city has been known to breed criminals. A few months ago, the city was calm again and no one complained of terrorism around their neighborhood.

The movements of the cars brought questions in the minds of the people and fear in their hearts.

"Could it be the governor?" a passerby thought aloud

"That's not possible. The governor never comes unannounced and if he did we will be aware of the cars that he used" another passerby replied

His fact was undoubtedly true. The governor has never come into the city with jeeps that were more than thirty. Who could this possibly be?

News cars, news helicopters which filmed the cars and people followed the cars with cars or taxis to know what exactly will happen due to curiosity. The cars took a U-turn at a junction going back to where they came from but on a different lane.

The people following were surprised at this. The tires of the car made a screeching sound as it got to a stop. They parked facing each other leaving a space in between and a big, large car which was the latest vehicle in town drove a bit further from the other cars using the path created and stopped a few meters in front of the cars.

Everyone concluded it must be the boss. The location at which they stopped was Baska's Industries Limited (BIL) premises. A police siren was heard a few meters away from their location as some people had contacted the police for assistance as they believe criminals are about to invade the city.

The police cars which were up to ten halted behind the cars and they all stepped down. The people were confident that the police will not allow the criminals to win. In the next second, soldiers walked out behind the police and moved forward towards the car in front and the people's morale was at the extreme.

They all surrounded the car giving at least some inches away from the doors. A firearm shot was heard which made everyone alert both inside the company and outside. The doors to the cars begin to open and people putting on masks which only revealed their eyes and lips step down from the car.

The only car which did not open was that at the front. The soldiers and police officers prepared for fire as they stay in position pointing their equipment at the car in front of them. The driver and passenger doors of the car opens and two hefty men stepped out who were also putting on a mask.

The back right door opens and a man steps out of the car still putting in a mask turns to the other side of the car. He had a smirk playing on his lips as he stood in front of the back left door. He places his hands behind his back with his legs spread.

"Step back soldiers! Step back officers!" the man commanded

He spoke so loudly that those outside the company could hear his command. The soldiers and the police officers glanced at each other in confusion.

"Soldiers!! Officers!!!" the man called out even louder

The soldiers dropped their weapons and stepped back which was followed by the police officers' action. There was a huge space created as the soldiers and police officers stepped away from the door which was yet to be opened.

The man opened the door in front of him and everyone presents curiously waited for the person inside to emerge and feed their curiosity. The news helicopter moves to the left to get a better view of the person and the reporters got closer to film as they helped those at home watching to know what was happening.

A right foot stock out which was putting on leather sandals beautifully decorated with beads and then a lady in her nineteenth emerged from the car.
