Chapter 1 New student

The door to a room pushed open as a young girl enters, a towel tied firmly across her chest, water dripping from her body slightly. She closed the door behind her, locking it before walking inside, standing in front of a mirror.

YOUNG GIRL'S POV

I can't believe I woke up late, today of all days, just hope I won't be late for school.

"Mellisa!!" I heard my name from a distance and I knew who it was that would be calling me like that but I ignored it.

I removed the shampoo cap I had from my hair, gently combing it out and styling it into a ponytail, one thing I hate is letting my hair fall onto my face.

I dropped my towel, applied cream on my body, got dressed in a short white gown, with floral designs on it. Looking up at my reflection in the mirror, I admired my new look with a smile on my face when I heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I asked, raising my voice a little above normal, walking over to the door.

"Yes!" My face was already curving in a frown as I saw who it was; MY SISTER

"Awwwn you look pretty" she said but I could sense sarcasm in her voice.

"Why are you up here? Am sure you didn't come all the way here just to compliment me" I said folding my arms across my chest.

"Didn't you hear your name before?"

"What do you want Alicia" I was getting tired of her blabbering.

"Dad is calling you" she said, turning sharply, causing her blonde hair to crash on my face, some even getting into my mouth, as she stomped her feet away. The sound of her shoes were still very loud, as I heard her descending the stairs.

I went back into my room, to round up with my dressing, getting my books into my bag pack, I hurried downstairs.

How rude of me! Let me introduce myself to you guys.

My name is Melissa Bradson.

I am an orphan who got lucky to be adopted, as a baby, by a couple, who were still looking for a child of their own. They took me in, loved and pampered me till I was seven and then they were blessed with kids of their own. My adopted mother saw me as a threat to her biological children and threw me out of the house. I was back at the orphanage at age ten but was later adopted by another couple when I was twelve. The woman already had a daughter but that didn't stop her from treating me as her own.

Alicia Bradson is the biological daughter of Mr and Mrs Bradson but we are not the best of sisters, Alicia doesn't like me and I gave up trying to be close to her.

Well, that's basically all you should know about me...

Rushing down the flight of stairs, I met with the cold stare of my adopted father, as he sat on his designated seat at dining table.

"Did you not hear me call the first time?" His cold voice sent shivers down my spine as I cowered in fear

"I was in the bathroom when you called" my voice was failing me.

"Where are you going?" He asked like he was unaware today was the first day of school.

"School of course!" Mum's voice came from the kitchen as I breathed out a sigh of relief.

Mum had always been on my side since like forever, she's my best friend and a companion, I love her so very much.

"You look pretty dear" she said, gently caressing my hair, smiling into my face.

"Sit down and have breakfast" she said positioning the tray in her hand on the table

I sat down at the table, enjoying the delicious meal in front of me, not willing to spare a little bit of it for the dustbin.

"Gently dear" I heard mum say amidst a chuckle but I didn't look up nor respond to her.

"And you.. Why are you playing with your food?" Mum said, and am guessing she is directing the question to my sister.

"I lost my appetite" Alicia said with a cold voice, getting up from the table

"And where are you going?" Mum asked her.

"School of course" she said picking up her bag.

"Why not wait for Mellisa so you both could go together?" mum said softly.

"Not in this lifetime" Alicia said storming out of the house, closing the door behind her.

I wasn't surprised a bit, but I just felt really bad for mum. I looked at her, and her expression spoke of sadness. I watched her sigh deeply before getting up from her seat walking into the kitchen, and later coming out with a mug, which she handed over to dad.

"I'll be going now" I said with a smile on my face, trying to cheer mum up.

"Be a good girl for mummy. No fights allowed" she replied, trying to hide the sadness in her voice. I walked over to her, hugging her warmly, nodding and smiling obediently.

"I have such a beautiful daughter" she said pulling at my cheeks lovingly, my face turning red from blush.

"I love you mum"

"Love you baby"

"Good bye dad" I said but he didn't even acknowledge my greetings, I just waved at mum and headed for the door.

"She's not your daughter you know that right?" I heard dad say as I closed the door behind me.

I sighed deeply, looking at the busy streets before me

"Today is definitely going to be a good day"

Taking my bike, I cycled down to school. Today is the first day of school, by this time next year, I would be in college, can't wait to get there.

I got to school on time and walked straight to my class, it was very noisy as everybody seemed to be chatting about their holidays and some stuffs, in other words, they were all with their friends. It was still the same people i knew from previous class but we were now in a different room. Alicia was in a different class, as she was a science student and me, an art student. I didn't have friends, so I just sat at an empty seat in the middle row, waiting for the day to start.

The door to the classroom pushed open, as the principal, a bald headed man in his sixties, walked in. Everybody cowered back to their seats, restoring the quietude of the environment.

Principal: (clears his throat) good morning students

"Good morning sir" everybody chorused

Principal: First of all, I would like to congratulate you all on your journey so far, from your first day to your semi last moments in high school. It has indeed been a hell of a ride with you guys. Hopefully, with enough study, you will be able to write your exams for college next year, that is if and only if you pass the school exams this year (murmurs and little chatters were heard amongst the students) am still talking students (everyone was quiet again) as I was saying this year...

The door to the classroom was pushed open slightly as Mrs Trish poked her head in, using her eyes to deliver a secret message to Mr Brooke, our principal. He nodded at her as she withdrew from the door for a moment, stepping in fully into the classroom, behind her was a guy.

Principal: Students, meet Jason Smith, a new transfer student to our school

His intense gaze met with mine, as I looked away from him, maybe I was shy but I didn't like the way his eyes tore through my skin.

"Jason Smith!? Son of Mr George Smith!? CEO of Smith Group of companies!! Owner of Smith Goldstone and Diamond Companies!?" Flora shouted from behind me, almost deafening me in the process

Principal: (laughs softly) yes! the list is endless! Thank you Flora. As I was saying, class meet Jason Smith, a new transfer student. Please be nice to him so he can catch up on time and let's carry him along in our activities, okay class?

"Okay sir" everybody chorused

Principal: (looked over at Jason) go have a seat dear

His eyes was still fixed on me, that I started wondering if I really looked that hideous to the son of a multi billionaire. He nodded absentmindedly, letting out a smile that revealed a beautiful set of dimples on both cheeks, as he took his seat, a little distance behind me. I must admit, he was one hell of a cutie but he's way above my league, I can't assume anything or even imagine anything with him.

Principal: back to what I was saying, this year, we are going to be having a whole lots of extracurricular activities, but mind you, let that not be an excuse for not studying for your forthcoming exams. Enjoy the rest of your day and be good boys and girls. Informations would be passed on to you guys later on. Have a good day

"Have a good day sir" some of the student chorused excitedly

The principal walked out of the classroom, as everybody rushed over to the new guy's seat, except me of course, as I seated my butt firmly on my seat.

I felt his intense gaze again and I turned my head, just to confirm my hypothesis. Then, I met it again; HIS EYES.

They were deep and blue, I could see it even from a distance; they were indeed beautiful, fitting his perfect well cut face.

I returned his gaze expecting him to drop his eyes or look away but surprisingly enough, his gaze became more intense, his expression was complicated as I could not just figure out what was wrong with him.

Maybe, he had a sight issue or something because I don't see why he would look at me with so much focus, locking out the world in the process...

Chapter 2 Who was she

"Okay! Settle down guys" A female teacher who walked in to see the rowdiness of the class spoke.

Everybody walked over to their respective seats and soon the class was quiet again.

Teacher: (clears her throat) Good morning class. My name is Mrs Betty and am going to be taking you on performing arts. Performing arts is a wide course but its really enjoyable if you put your hearts to it. We have orchestra, drama, dance,...

School was as normal as it should be, we had back to back classes, no space for any form of discussion or get together of any sort. The bell rang after about five hours of intense learning.

Slowly, everybody filed out of the classroom headed for the school cafeteria.

I was about getting up when I met Jason's gaze again, this guy is sure becoming annoying.

"Hey Jason, won't you go eat lunch?" Isabella asked Jason, whose eyes has still not left my body.

Isabella is an homecoming Queen. She is the only daughter of her rich parents. Her older brother is also very, as in very comfortable so you can say she's proud a bit. I stay out of her path as much as possible to avoid any issues.

"Okay" I heard him say before they both walked out of the class.

Finally I can breathe some fresh air. Putting my books into my bag, I walked out of the classroom, headed for the cafeteria to eat my already packed lunch.

JASON POV

Gosh! I hate my life. I just can't believe what my parents are making me face, most especially right now when am going through my own personal ordeal. So frustrating and annoying.

I am the last child and second son of Mr and Mrs George Smith and yes, my parents are fucking billionaires. Mind you, I said parents and not just dad. My parents were always on one sort of business trip or the other, travelling around the world.

MY BIRTH!!

Well, it wasn't really planned, as Mum told me, but she kept me anyways. She already had two kids, a son and a daughter, the daughter being her last child then, until I came into the picture. My big brother, Damien was already 12 then and Mabel, my big sister was 9 and as the story went, she was psyched about my arrival.

Well, I finally joined the Smith's family, I was received with so much love. My parents and siblings so pampered me, I had everything I ever wanted as a child but my sister became strict soon enough. It was because of this fact, that I didn't actually turn out to be a spoilt brat. She did not hesitate in correcting me with whatever means she deemed necessary. I learnt the value of people irrespective of their positions in life, in other words, I learnt respect, in a not so friendly way I guess.

Damien, my big brother was, I guess exactly a big brother. He was hardly ever around, though I don't blame him as he had to attend to the family businesses whilst mum and dad were away on their trips, but when he was around, I had so much fun with him. He got me a car as a gift when I turned 12 and as expected, Mabel seized the car keys claiming I was too young for a car but she did hand it over when I turned 16.

Mabel was the mother I knew, as she was always there for me, with an open arm and a listening ear, I love her so very much. She gets me to do things even after when everyone else has failed to convince me to do it, most especially if it was against my wish; SHE HAD THE SECRET TOUCH.

She was the reason am transferring out of my school in California to come school in New York as my parents wanted.

"Mum and dad are getting old and needs you around now more than ever. Damien and I can only visit and maybe spend a day with them but we can't stay a weekend and you know why" I could still hear her voice in my head and that cute face looking me in the eyes, gosh! So annoying.

"I know you love your school here in California but New York still has good schools and the school you are being transfered into, is one of the best, I assure you"

She had a way of getting into my head, making me do as she wishes, most times I call her a witch because no one has such effects on me like her.

"Please baby. C'mon do this for me and your little niece" she was making those annoying eyes again, pointing at her protruded tummy, weakening my strict expression.

Did I tell you my siblings are already married?

Well yes, they actually are. Damien is happily married with three wonderful kids, two girls and a boy; I don't really get to see them that much. My lovely sis, Mabel is already married too, expecting her first child, my little niece; I see her all the time and I don't get tired of talking to her.

Well, here I was; AT THE AIRPORT.

I was going back to New York to start a new life close to my parents.

"Passengers headed for New York, please board the plane right now!" The voice on the speaker jolted me out of my own world of thoughts.

Pulling my luggage behind me, I entered the plane and after some hours, I was on New York's soil, warmly received by my mum.

"Oh! Baby thank you so very much" she said squeezing me into her arms.

"I missed you mum" I said kissing her cheeks.

"Miss you too honey" Mum said, squeezing my cheeks lovingly.

"Where is dad?" I asked after I gave up the search with my eyes.

"He had an impromptu business meeting to attend to but not too worry, he would be at home for dinner" she flashed her heartwarming smile.

Sure! One thing with my dad, if you were dying and he had a business meeting at that exact same time, he would choose the meeting over you. Mum is different though, she balances everything and I love her for that, Mabel takes after her.

We got home, the mansion I grew up in and the only thing that has changed is the fact that Mabel wasn't here with me anymore, she had a family of her own to look after now.

Monday came, the start of my new life, as I got dressed, not really giving a hoot about my look. Mum had her driver take me to school that morning, and instructed him to pick me up at the close of day, as if that was necessary but I had to agree not to give my mum too much stress, her health is not too good at the moment, so Mabel said.

Getting to school, I stepped out of the car into the huge empty compound and I must admit I was pretty impressed. It was indeed beautiful, befitting my status I guess. Mum told me the school has already been informed of my arrival, so I had no issues.

I saw a woman walking towards me, smiling into my face, that I had no choice but to smile back.

"Hi Jason."

"Hi"

"Am Mrs Trish and I'm here to take you to the principal, that is if you don't mind" okay this woman had a beautiful smile and she didn't hesitate in flaunting it.

"Okay Ma" I replied politely.

She led the way into the school, as we stepped into the empty lobby, everybody must be in class by now.

"Uhmm Jason, the principal is not in his office. He's in your class right now, so let's just head there, shall we?" She said after talking with a much younger lady in front of an office, without of course flaunting her beautiful smile.

We walked for about five minutes, getting to the front of a door, as Mrs Trish pushed the door opened, poking her head inside, probably talking to the principal before pulling her head back out, looking at me.

"Let's go inside dear" I just nodded as a response.

Walking behind her, I found myself in front of a class, I felt all eyes on me, as the principal started introducing me.

And there she was; THE MYSTERIOUS FACE THAT WOULDN'T LET ME SLEEP.

I couldn't remove my gaze from her, not even for a minute. This was beyond the fact that she was beautiful, there was more to it. Her face had always been in my dreams for the past two years, causing me sleepless nights, I couldn't possibly be mistaking. I felt a flutter in my heart, I felt numb and my eyes were lost in her.

The principal's voice jerked me out of my world of confusion as I found my way to seat behind her. As expected, everybody was all over me but I was more concerned about her; WHO WAS SHE?

Concentrating in class became a problem to me and I was determined to get answers by all means possible.

"Hey Jason, won't you go eat lunch?" I heard a feminine voice besides me.

I guess luck is my best friend, I'll just ask this girl about the mysterious girl, problem solved.

"Okay" I replied and together we left the class.

Chapter 3 I'll forever love you

My new found crush wouldn't just stop talking as you blabbered on and on without stopping. Her name, I soon got to know as Isabella, due to her non-stop chatter, it was indeed unbearable. Seriously, I had much important things on my mind and I don't want this kind of noise but I needed answers, that was top on my list.

She led the way to the cafeteria, as we stood in front of the chef, who dished out our lunch on a tray.

"This is the cool kids' area" Isabella said as she stood besides a table, dropping her tray.

"Hey Bella!" A girl squirked from across the table, she had red beautiful hair and a baby face, she was cute.

"Hey Jason" her little voice came out again, but her eyes were fixed on the plate before her, I must have stared at her cute face for too long, causing her to feel shy. I just smiled in response to her greeting as Isabella gestured me to sit down besides her.

"Well, this is my little team" Isabella was on her talking spree again

"Friends you mean" I said trying to correct her whilst sipping from my juice box.

"My team" she said, looking deep into my eyes, sending shivers down my spine for a minute but I was quick to get a grip of my expression.

"This is Jake" she was pointing at a guy with dark hair and a full eyebrow, who did not even look at me or gave me any regards. I, however, nodded to show i was following the introduction "and that is Gabriella, Ella for short" I looked over at the girl whose hair was dyed pink, deeply engrossed in whatever she was up to on her phone "and lastly, Natasha but everyone knows her as Red, when I say everybody, I meant both her family members" she smiled at me and waved shyly

"Am guessing its because of your hair color" I said, trying to pry a little but got a smile as a response. Is this school cursed or what? How can everybody be having beautiful and cute smile?

"But I prefer Tasha" I smiled genuinely at her

"Then you would be the first to address me like that" she said returning the smile

I was enjoying my conversation with Tasha, momentarily forgetting my mission in the first place, when my eyes involuntarily wandered to the far end of the cafeteria, seated alone, eating from a lunch box.

"Who are you!" I said to myself in a whisper

"What!" Isabella asked. She was seated close to me and I might have said it a bit louder than I thought.

"Who is she?" I asked pointing at her direction

Everyone turned and looked her way, scoffing to my amazement and going back to what they were doing. Now I was becoming confused.

"What is up? Why did you guys react that way? Who is she?" I needed answers urgently.

"She's a nobody!" Ella said looking at me for a minute before looking back down at her phone's screen.

"What do you mean by she's a nobody?"

"Look here Jason, not everyone deserves to be in this great school. Look at the facilities, the compound, the school itself is expensive befitting our statuses as children from a rich background and not for any nobody to enter" Isabella said, grinning and get nods of approval from Jake and Ella.

Well, Jake, Ella and Bella were, let's say, they are me. Fortunate kids to be born into a rich family, but Red is not from a rich background. She was from an humble background, parents did not have their names on the map yet.

"What do you mean?" I need clarification

"Red, why don't you tell Jason here how your kind gets into this school?" Isabella said, her voice sounded scornful

I looked at Red whose expression spoke of sadness but she still smiled at me, clearing her throat from whatever was causing a blockage.

"Well, there's a bi annual scholarship scheme the school organizes and five lucky students would be given admission into the school, at an all expense paid rate. I was part of that scheme and I got into the school, alongsides Melissa"

"Mellisa" I echoed the name looking at her direction, meeting with her angry gaze. Why was she angry?

I saw her hit her hands on the table, picking her bag, she was walking towards me.

That's when it started;

I started seeing flashes of images, the same face but her hair was let loose, falling across her shoulders, smiling, walking on the beach.

All of a sudden, am seeing Mellisa, charged towards me in anger, her pony tail pouncing behind her.

"I will love you forever" who was saying that in my head

Echoes of laughters filled my head.

The image of my lips on someone flashed through my mind

What's happening to me? What is wrong?

I held my head trying to shake away the feeling, but its only getting worse. Am I dying or what? Who is she?

MEL'S POV

I saw them both walk out of the class, they would make a good couple, after all they are from the same background. I walked slowly out of my class, headed for the cafeteria to eat my lunch. On getting to the cafeteria, I saw them sitted at the 'Cool Kids' Area', I just found my way to my designated seat at the far end of the cafeteria, ready to devour my lunch, specially prepared by my beautiful mum. Thinking about her brings smiles to my lips, she's my strength.

As I was eating, I felt it again; His intense gaze. He pointed at me, causing the others to turn and they all stared at me for a minute before looking away but his eyes was still fixed on me.

What the hell is wrong with this dude? Even if he was crushing on me, which is impossible, but if he really was, at least he shouldn't be this forward.

I decided to ignore him and continue eating until I heard him call my name, his eyes fixed on me. I guess its time I talked some sense into his head.

I picked my bag, headed to talk to him, if possible yell at him. My expression spoke of anger, I was really angry.

I was just meters away from him, when I saw his expression turn pale, was he pretending?

"Jason, are you okay?" I heard Isabella's voice but my eyes were on Jason. For some reason I was worried for his safety, why the hell would I be worried about his safety?

His hands were on his head, as he let out a loud scream, falling on the floor.

"Get him some water Red" Bella screamed

All the other kids were already surrounding the table, trying to help as some ran to call the principal.

"Let's take him to the infirmary" Red's voice came out

My eyes were already filled with tears, as I looked at the unconscious Jason.

"I'll love you forever" a voice whispered in my head

Am I going insane or what?
