Chapter 1 First shift

The pain was excruciating. Every bone in my body felt like it was tearing, and my skin stretched and tore as if it was trying to break loose from my body.

It was my first shift, and it was happening in the worst possible place-a dark alleyway behind the school, with my boyfriend Kelvin beside me and a group of bullies in front of us.

I had always known I was different, but I never knew why until that moment.

My senses were heightened, and I could smell the fear emanating from Kelvin as the bullies advanced on us.

They had been taunting him for weeks, and I couldn't stand to see him hurt anymore.

Without thinking, I lunged at the bullies, my body contorting and twisting as my bones rearranged themselves.

Fur sprouted from my skin, and my nails elongated into razor-sharp claws.

"What? This is not some woods or a remote area. Why the heck is there a wolf amidst us?" I could hear one of the bullies query.

"Isn't she the girl with him all this while? How then has she turned into a wolf?" Another asked.

They were all taken aback, but they quickly recovered and began to fight back

" I think it is time I use my gun," one of them said as he brought out his gun to shoot me.

I don't recur much of what happened next. My mind was clouded with the pain of my transformation, and I could only see flashes of the fight.

Although the bullies were no match for me, they still succeeded in leaving a braze on my body with their gun and that happened because I was finding it difficult to focus.

I managed to dispatch them leaving them bloody and broken on the ground but not without sustaining an injury myself.

Kelvin looked at me in shock and horror, but I couldn't find the words to explain what had just happened. All I knew was that I had to protect him, and I had done just that.

As the adrenaline wore off, I began to feel the full extent of my injuries. My body ached, and I was covered in blood-both my own and that of my victims.

I knew I had to get out of there before anyone saw me in my werewolf form.

I stumbled away from the scene, my body reverting back to its human form as I went.

By the time I reached home, I was barely conscious, my body battered and broken. But as I lay there, nursing my wounds, I knew that my life would never be the same again.

I was a werewolf, and I had to learn how to control my powers before anyone else got hurt.

I managed to keep my werewolf secret safe from everyone and even avoided Kelvin who was in the alleyway the night of my first transformation.

Today, as we were walking home from school, he turned to me, his eyes curious. "Sophia, can I ask you something?"

"Sure," I replied, trying to keep my voice casual.

"What happened in the alleyway that night?" "When did you save me from those bullies?" he asked, his voice lowering.

I felt my heart sink. I had been hoping he would forget about that night, but it seemed that the memory was still fresh in his mind.

"I don't know, Kelvin," I lied. "I was as surprised as you were." "It was like... something inside of me just took over."

Kelvin looked at me skeptically, but he didn't push the matter further. Instead, he simply nodded and changed the subject.

As we continued walking, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.

I knew that I couldn't keep my secret from Kelvin forever, but I also knew that the truth would only put him in danger.

Later that night, as I lay in bed, I couldn't stop thinking about the conversation with Kelvin.

What would happen if he found out the truth? Would he still accept me for who I was, or would he be afraid?

I made a decision then and there. I would have to tell Kelvin the truth sooner rather than later.

But for now, I would have to be careful. I couldn't afford to let anyone else find out my secret.

The next day at school, I pulled Kelvin aside during lunchtime. "Kelvin, there's something I need to tell you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

"What is it?" he asked, his eyes widening.

"I'm a werewolf," I said simply, bracing myself for his reaction.

For a moment, Kelvin just stared at me, his mouth hanging open. Then, slowly, he began to nod. "I figured as much," he said. "But don't worry, Sophia. Your secret is safe with me. I won't tell anyone."

I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Kelvin had accepted me, just as I was. And for the first time since my transformation, I felt like maybe, just maybe, everything was going to be okay.

All I ever wanted was to go to an art school and learn more about writing. I just wanted to become a renowned artist and a bestseller.

Some weeks later, I was plagued with questions about my werewolf heritage.

How did I become a werewolf? were my parents also werewolves, and if not, why not? And perhaps the most pressing question of all: should I tell my mother what had happened?

When I got home that day, I couldn't help but feel nervous as I walked through the door. My mom was sitting in the living room, watching TV, and when she saw me, she looked worried.

"Sophia, what is the problem? you've been looking so worn out these days!" she probed, standing up.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should tell her everything. I took a deep breath and decided to just come out with it.

"Mom, I am a werewolf," I answered, looking at her nervously.

My mom's eyes widened, and she looked at me in shock.

"What? How is that even possible?" she said, sounding incredulous.

"I don't know. I was trying to save Kelvin from some bullies the other day then I ended up turning into a wolf." I narrated.

My mom sat down, looking thoughtful.

"I think it's time I told you the truth about our family history," she said, sounding serious.

I sat down next to her, feeling curious and a bit scared.

There is a curse on my family.

Chapter 2 Special Ability

My grandfather was a werewolf although he didn't pass it down to my mother and I didn't become one, but you did," she said, looking at me with concern.

I couldn't believe it. So I really had a heritage of it? It was a lot to take in.

But why didn't you tell me before? Why keep it a secret?" I asked, feeling a bit hurt.

"I didn't want to scare you. I thought it would also skip my generation, or that you might not inherit it at all. I didn't want you to grow up feeling like you were different," my mom explained.

I understood her reasoning, but I still felt a bit angry. I had the right to know about my own heritage, didn't I?

"I understand, but I still wish you had told me. It would have saved me a lot of confusion and fear," I said, feeling a bit emotional.

"I'm sorry, Sophia. We were just trying to protect you," my mom said, sounding apologetic.

I took a deep breath, feeling a bit calmer.

"So, what do I do now? How do I control this... werewolf thing?" I asked, feeling curious.

My mom smiled, looking relieved.

"I'll help you. We'll figure it out together," she said, sounding determined.

And with those words, I felt a sense of relief. I wasn't alone anymore. I had my mom to help me navigate this new and scary world of werewolves.

And who knows? Maybe one day, I would even learn to embrace my werewolf side and use it to help others, just like I had helped Kelvin.

Days turned into weeks, and Kelvin and I grew closer as we kept my secret safe.

However, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I needed to know more about my new self.

I needed to learn how to control my transformation and how to live a normal life while also being a werewolf.

One evening, while I was studying in my room, my mother, Jane, walked in, looking serious.

"Sophia, we need to talk," she said, sitting down next to me on my bed.

"What's wrong, mom?" I asked, sensing that something was troubling her.

"I've been doing some research, and I think it's time for you to attend a werewolf academy," she said, looking at me intently.

"A werewolf academy?" I repeated, feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

"Yes." "It's a school for werewolves, where you can learn more about your powers and how to control them," she explained.

I was torn. On the one hand, I wanted to learn more about being a werewolf, but on the other hand, I didn't want to leave Kelvin and my friends behind.

"Can't I just learn from books or something?" I asked hesitantly.

"It's not the same, Sophia." At the academy, you'll be surrounded by others like you who understand what you're going through.

"You'll have experienced teachers who can guide you, and you'll be able to practice your powers in a safe environment," my mother explained.

I thought about it for a moment, and then I nodded. "Okay, I'll go." "But where is this academy?"

"I've found one that's not too far from here." "It's called the Silvermoon Academy, and it's highly respected in the werewolf community," she said, handing me a brochure.

I flipped through the pages, my eyes widening in amazement. The academy looked like a castle straight out of a fairy tale, with sprawling gardens and impressive architecture.

"When do I start?" I asked eagerly.

"In two weeks' time." "We'll need to make the necessary arrangements, and you'll need to pack your things," my mother said, smiling at me.

For the next two weeks, I couldn't stop thinking about the academy. I spent most of my time reading up on werewolf history, trying to prepare myself for what lay ahead.

Kelvin was supportive, but I could tell that he was worried about me leaving.

Finally, the day arrived when I was set to leave for the academy.

My parents drove me there, and as we pulled up to the castle gates, my heart raced with excitement and nervousness.

As I walked through the gates, I saw other werewolves milling about, some in human form and others in their wolf forms.

I felt a sense of belonging that I had never felt before.

Before it was even a month, I had already learned so much at the academy and about being a werewolf.

One of the first things I learned was about the different rankings of werewolves.

Next, we all had a personal teacher assigned to us in order to learn how to shift easily and come back to our human form.

At first, it was really difficult for me to control my transformation. But with the help of the teacher, I was able to learn.

One day, while we were training in the woods, information got to us that a girl was missing in the academy and it has already been two days since her disappearance.

The whole school was in chaos, and the teachers left us to have a meeting concerning that but while they were still on it, I thought I should do something myself and that was how I discovered that I had a special ability of tracking.

Within split seconds, I had already tracked down where the girl was and told the teachers.

" Are you serious? Is that where she is?" They probed.

" Yes, I can feel and see that. If we go now, we would be able to free her from the kidnappers and bring her back safely" I replied.

A plan was made on how to rescue her and soon enough, she was back to the academy with us.

My special ability then became a news in the Academy, and the teachers couldn't help singing my praise.

" You're really a special breed.... This ability of yours is very rare and superb" one of them appreciated.

"Who knows, it might not be the only gift. You could discover more as time goes on" the other added.

" You should put it into good use" one of them instructed as I nodded in response feeling all high and happy.

Looking back, I'm grateful that my mother had the foresight to send me to the academy and I now know that being a werewolf is a gift, not a curse.

Chapter 3 Meeting Alpha Leo

Ms. Wilson was one of my favorite teachers at the Academy.

She was kind, patient, and always had a way of making difficult concepts easy to understand.

One day, she taught us about finding our mates.

According to her, every werewolf had a mate out there in the world, and it was up to us to find them.

She explained that when two werewolves found their mates, they would experience an intense connection that was almost impossible to describe.

It was like a magnetic pull, drawing them toward each other. They would also be able to communicate telepathically, just like we did with mind links.

I was fascinated by this idea. I couldn't help but wonder if I had a mate out there somewhere. And if I did, would I ever be able to find them?

As Mrs. Wilson spoke about finding our mates, I couldn't help but feel a little nervous.

I had a boyfriend, Kelvin, who I loved deeply. But according to Mrs. Wilson, if I had a mate out there, I would feel an intense connection to them that couldn't be ignored.

I turned to the student sitting next to me and whispered, "I don't think I need to find a mate." "I already have a boyfriend."

The girl looked at me incredulously. "You can't get away with that," she said. "If you have a mate out there, you have to find them." "It's part of being a werewolf."

I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach.

What if I did have a friend out there somewhere? What would that mean for my relationship with Kelvin? I didn't want to hurt him, but at the same time, I couldn't ignore the possibility of finding my true mate.

As the class ended, I couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty from my mind. I knew I had a lot to think about before the upcoming school trip.

As Mrs. Wilson wrapped up her lesson, she announced that we would be going on a school trip in a few weeks to see a real-life example of werewolf packs in action.

My classmates and I were all excited to hear the news, and we couldn't wait for the trip to begin.

I couldn't help but wonder what we would see and learn on this trip. I had never been to a real-life werewolf pack before, and I was both nervous and excited at the prospect.

As the days passed, my excitement continued to build. I couldn't wait to see what this trip had in store for us and what new things I would learn about being a werewolf.

The day of the school trip arrived, and my classmates and I were beyond excited. We boarded a bus and traveled deep into the forest until we arrived at our destination.

We had come to a massive clearing in the woods where several werewolf packs had gathered for a meeting.

As we stepped off the bus, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. I had never seen so many werewolves gathered in one place before. There were all kinds of wolves, from small and wiry to large and muscular.

As I walked around, I met a girl named Bradley. She told me that her father was a beta in one of the packs and that she knew a lot about the wolves that lived there.

We started talking, and I couldn't help but ask her about the leader of their pack.

Bradley told me that the alpha of their pack was a wolf named Leo, and he was unlike any other werewolf she had ever known.

"What's so special about him?" I asked, intrigued.

Bradley hesitated for a moment before answering. "It is rumoured that he doesn't have a human form and i think it's because no one had seen his human form before." she said finally.

I was shocked. I had never heard of a werewolf who didn't have a human form. It seemed impossible, but Bradley seemed convinced.

"And he has a twin sister," Bradley continued. "She's the only one who can communicate with him, and they're inseparable." "If they're apart for too long, he starts to get agitated and restless."

But why is it like that? "Why aren't they like normal werewolves?" I asked.

"I don't know, but their mother gave birth to them that way," Bradley replied.

" What? But can't anything be done about it?" I asked.

Bradley shook her head. "That's what I don't know." "But they have been that way since birth." She responded.

I sighed. It all seemed so unfair. "So they can never be apart?"

"Well, they can, but not for very long," Bradley said. "Leo gets really agitated if he's away from her for too long." "It's like they have some kind of connection that can't be broken."

I nodded, trying to take it all in. "It's just so strange." "I've never heard of anything like it before."

Bradley smiled sympathetically. "It's okay. There's a lot about being a werewolf that you don't know yet. but you'll learn. That's what your school is for."

I nodded again, feeling slightly overwhelmed.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was like something out of a fairy tale. had so much to learn, and it seemed like every day brought a new revelation.

As Bradley and I were discussing Alpha Leo, I couldn't help but feel a strong pull toward him. I had to see him for myself.

I told Bradley that I wanted to meet him, and she warned me about the dangers of approaching an alpha without permission. But I couldn't resist the urge to see him.

As we walked around the pack grounds, I stumbled upon a hidden clearing, and there he was-Alpha Leo.

He was much bigger than I imagined and had a majestic aura about him. I felt a strange energy coming from him, and I was drawn to him like a magnet.

But as I got closer, I saw something that shocked me to my core. He was accompanied by a girl who was his exact replica, except that she was human.

They were inseparable and seemed to communicate through some sort of telepathic link.

I later learned that this girl was his twin sister, and she was the only one who could keep him grounded and connected to his humanity.

I was frozen in shock and awe as I watched them, and that's when Alpha Leo noticed me.

He turned to me and locked his piercing green eyes on mine.

I felt as if he was looking right through me and seeing my innermost thoughts.
