EVERA
"I think this is enough." I said to no one in particular while counting the herbs I just picked out.
Suddenly, I heard a twig snap. I sniffed the air slowly. A rogue werewolf's presence is somewhere around here. I immediately jumped up a tree and hid on it.
"Come on, Evera. It's me, Lake." I heard a familiar voice say. I sighed in relief when I peaked a little on the tree and saw him looking back up at me.
I jumped down and waved at him with a playful smile on my face and he just rolled his eyes playfully. My mother's potion on him still didn't disappear, that's what he gets from shocking her and causing the unfinished potion to spill on him. Goddess, I could not stop laughing at that time. Now he has a scent of a rogue werewolf. Since those unfinished potions were suppose to be a mask on our scent for specific occasions.
"I know what your thinking, Don't even-" Before he could finish what he was saying, I burst out laughing. "-laugh." He finished grudgingly, while glaring at me. I stopped laughing and raised my hands up in surrender.
"Okay, pup. I'm sorry, okay? But that was so funny! Karma caught you so early." I said, holding my laugh.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He said with a pout. I smiled at him and made a peace sign.
"Collecting herbs?" He asked before I could speak. I looked at the basket full of herbs that I was holding.
"Yup. Got to complete my collection. What are you even doing here?" I asked with a curious expression. He's soon to be the next Beta after Nixon gets to become our Alpha. Shouldn't he be training?
"Just got bored. Also Alpha, my father and your father have a serious matter to attend to, so the training is cancelled for today." He replied, as if reading my thoughts.
"And you came hunting?" I asked him before walking towards a direction to find another different herb or herbs.
"Nope, well if you call hunting for you a hunt, then sure." He said, following behind me. A smile formed on my lips and I looked at him.
"Seriously, what do you find fun in looking for me knowing I'll just be hunting for herbs?" I asked with a little frown. He grinned before answering.
"Simple, it's just so fascinating how you can tell what kind of plant is a herb. And I love seeing you use your powers." He answered which made me chuckle.
"Okay then. I still need a brotherly company, I guess." I said and he clapped happily like a little child, if only I never see him flirting with girls then I might think he is very childish.
Want me to explain everything? I am Evera. I live in my father's pack. My father is a Gamma in the Pack and I'm soon supposed to be the first female Gamma.
Because most of the first born child of a Gamma is a boy, but I turned out to be a girl. And I have the Gamma blood so I have to be the female Gamma as for I'm an only child. If I don't want it or I can't do it, then I'll choose a certain person to be my replacement.
I don't want to be the female Gamma. I just want to be a healer of the pack. Our Alpha, Alpha Aldrich Huxley agreed and will be patient until I choose a replacement.
And the guy that is following behind me right now is Lake Foreson, son of our pack Beta, Beta Anthony Foreson. He is like my big brother, although he acts more childish than me. But he is very serious and protective with the guys that gets near me like a big brother, and of course, I wouldn't forget his flirty side towards girls, but not to me of course.
And Nixon is the son of Alpha Aldrich. He used to be a mischievous kid, very playful and loves to make pranks sometimes in our childhood. But a lot has changed since he shifted.
The Alpha in him started to grow and he became more commanding, serious and very bright. He is also like a big brother to me, just like Lake. But he is bit overprotective. He never had a brother or sister, just like me. But with different reasons.
Mine is because my mother couldn't give birth anymore and.. for Nixon, his story was very tragic. Our Luna died pregnant because of rogues. It was always rogues. She was already 3 months pregnant and her due was supposed to be next week in that year. Our pregnancy cycle runs different.
But nope, our pack was attacked by rogues that time. My mother managed to protect us with her magic but we didn't get to protect our Luna because she was taking a fresh air at that time inside the borders with two warriors guarding her.
And for what my mother found out while using her own magic, they were ambushed and Luna didn't manage to escape because of the bump. She was a nice woman, a great leader but she died in a horrible time.
I sat on a big rock after I finished picking the herbs and Lake sat on the ground while eating some blackberries we found along the way.
"All done?" He asked me and I just nodded at him, closing my basket. He squealed like a little girl and I looked at him weirdly.
"What was that?" I asked while looking at him. He pouted.
"Just forget I made that noise." He said and I just shrugged my shoulders.
"Why did you do that tho?" I asked him. He put on an excited expression before answering me.
"Let's have a run!" He exclaimed excitedly. I poked my tongue inside my mouth thinking about that.
"Sure, after I take my herbs back home." I said, standing up while holding the basket on my right hand and dusting my shirt and pants with my left.
"Yes!" He exclaimed excitedly before following behind me, singing different songs. I enjoyed every songs he sings tho. He has a very good voice.
We arrived home and I went inside. My Mother is currently reading a book while my father's nowhere to be found. Oh yeah, they have some important business to attend to.
"How was your day, honey? Herbs complete?" My mom asked, shifting her eyes away from the book she was reading and looked at me with a smile. I smiled back and nodded at her.
"Yes, mom." I answered, taking the basket up to my room.
"Oh, hi Lake!" I heard my mother greet before I entered my room. I placed the basket on the table and changed my shirt and pants into a green dress, so it would be easier to take off and put on later.
I looked at my self in the mirror and smiled in content. Thanks to my parent's good looks, I'm very pretty. Well, everyone is good-looking. People are just too judgemental. I shook my head while thinking about that. They don't know that they are already becoming ugly because of the way they judge other people's appearance. They may look good-looking, but for me.. the way they call people ugly is already making them ugly on the inside. They don't know art and uniqueness.
After getting out of the room, Lake and I bid a goodbye to my mom before walking outside of the borders. My family and I do not live in the pack house since my mother suggested to have our own house inside the borders.
We were almost at the outside borders when we heard a familiar voice.
"Where are you both going? I've been looking everywhere for the both of you!" Nixon said with an upset expression. We both looked at him and just smiled widely.
EVERA
"Brother, Nixon. Hey!" I said while smiling innocently. He sighed and walked towards us.
"Answer my question." He said, still looking upset.
"Come on, 'bro. I just found her picking up herbs and we talked about having a run today. So that's what we're going to do now, we just finished taking the herbs back to their house a while ago." Lake answered before I could speak.
Nixon looked at the both of us for a few seconds before cracking up a smile. Now, that's what I was waiting to see.
"I want to come." He said and before Lake could speak again I spoke up first.
"Of course! I will have two brothers to run with me!" I said excitedly. It would be just like the old times when Nixon did not become 18 yet and didn't focus on training almost 24/7.
Since he became 18, Lake is the only one I've been with in a run while Nixon was off somewhere training or learning about being a strong and good Alpha.
But now, we can bond with each other just like the old days. Where we are complete and just the three of us.
After we got out of the territory, we went behind different trees with holes on them. I removed my dress, placed it inside the hole and shifted into my red wolf. Red is the rarest color of a wolf or especially a werewolf could get.
For wolves, some still have the red or orange color. But werewolves? It is supposed to be a myth for us. But as shocking as it is, I shifted into a red wolf, almost orange color when I turned 14.
Luckily, my mother taught me a few things being a witch already since I was 8. She taught me how to make and handle potions, herbs, chakras, gemstones and everything else. And it was very easy since I'm a fast learner. So yeah, no one could harm me because I could always protect my self. But somehow I don't like fights, so I hide immediately whenever there is a different wolf.
Also because they might want to experiment on me or take my blood for becoming a red wolf. That's what they told me.
I got out of the tree, seeing Nixon's white wolf with black ears, Noru. And Lake's Brown, Almost yellow wolf, Klein. My wolf's name is Evie. We nodded at each other before running, feeling the cool breeze against our fur.
We halted as soon as we reached the meadow, where we used to have picnics, play or have fun in our human or wolf form.
We hang out and played inside the meadow on our wolf form together until we saw something glowing further away from our pack border.
The 3 of us stopped running and looked up at the purple mixed with red, orange and yellow color, shaped as a circle in the sky.
"It's a portal." We glanced at Nixon who mind-linked us. Indeed he was right, it is a portal. But what kind tho?
"What kind of portal?" Lake asked the both of us. Nixon shrugged in wolf form while I tried to recognize the portal, looking at it's details.
A shiver ran down my spine when I finally recognized the portal. Oh no. I then mind-linked both of them.
"It's a portal towards the realm of.." I was cut off by a powerful roar inside the portal. "Dragons.." I finished. Both Nixon and Lake looked at me, frightened.
"We need to go," I said, feeling a tingling sensation on my left wrist. I have a bracelet that can sense magic from others or sense another powerful creature or supernatural creature.
The other two agreed and they started to run to the trees, getting out of the meadow.
I stopped running and looked back at the portal when the sensation began to slow down. A huge black creature got out of the portal, flapping its magnificent wings. I'm a part witch, but it is my first time to see a real-life dragon in my whole life.
While looking at the huge creature, Evie kept running in my head and was shouting something which I couldn't understand because I was too busy looking at the dragon, it's so magnificent.
But it was not just any normal dragon. I saw a blue color on the portal when he got out of it, which means he is a dragon-shifter. If he is a normal dragon, then the portal should have turned greenish.
Someone pulled me behind a big tree just before the dragon could see me when he looked at my direction, and I knew immediately that it was Nixon.
"Why didn't you run with us?" Nixon said. He was now wearing his clothes and already in his human form while he was holding my dress on his right hand.
"I.. I don't know." I mind-linked him. He sighed and handed me my dress before turning around. Luckily, the tree is big enough.
I shifted and quickly wore my dress. I tugged his arm and he turned around to look at me. We were both startled by a very loud roar and it was like the clouds covered the sun since it was much more darker now.
I saw Nixon looking up behind me, I felt a shiver running down my spine as I tried to calm myself. When I was finally calmer, I turned around to see what Nixon was staring at.
But I was shock when I saw a huge feet of a dragon, bigger than my body. I could feel my soul floating away and I felt cold as I began to look up slowly, bracing myself for what I'm about to see.
Two pairs of orange eyes and blue pupils met my two pairs of black orbs. His blue pupils were like a sea inside the fire of orange eyes.
I almost got lost with those mesmerizing eyes when I snapped out and immediately took Nixon's hand before vanishing from the spot.
I teleported us inside the borders and I saw Lake walking back and forth with a worried expression.
"You okay, Nixon?" I asked, looking back at him. He just nodded and called Lake.
He snapped his head towards us and smiled happily before running and giving us a tight hug. After breaking the hug, He looked at me up and down.
"What happened? Are you alright? Are you both alright?" He asked, looking at us worriedly.
"Good thing that you followed my order to stay here until I get her." I heard Nixon speak behind me calmly, changing the topic.
"You used the Alpha tone on me! How could I disobey!?" He said, putting his hands around his waist like he always does. It eased up the atmosphere, finally.
"Okay you two, I'll go home and you guys can go back to the pack house." I told them but before I could go, Nixon pulled my wrist. I looked at him with a confused expression but he just looked at me seriously.
"I can't let you stay there with a dragon on the loose. I'm taking you to the pack house where you would be safe." He told me, I frowned and yanked my wrist out of his grip.
"Excuse me? Don't you dare talk about him like he's just a beast." I said sassily. Nixon's expression turned to shock and so did Lake's. But mostly me. How did I talk like that?
"What's got into you? You sound like you're protecting your mate from me-" He stopped mid sentence, realizing what he just said. He looked at me with wide eyes.
"Are you..?" He asked me with a shock expression. Before I could say anything, Evie took over my body and spoke up.
"DAMN YES!"
NARRATOR
"This is unbelievable! You are mated to a dragon!" Lake exclaimed while clapping his hands.
"So?" Evera remained calm, but inside, she is panicking.
"What do you mean 'so'? You are mated to a powerful mythical creature for goddess' sake!" Lake exclaimed, making Evera flinch.
"You're ruining me and Evera's eardrums. If you don't want me to put a snake in your mouth, then shut it." Nixon warned while looking at Lake with an annoyed expression.
"You won't dare." Lake said, glaring at Nixon. Nixon didn't give away and glared back at Lake.
"Oh yes, I will." He said with a serious tone, making Lake shift on his seat.
"Yeah, Yes.. You will.." Lake said with a pout, admitting defeat.
"Good. Now, Rosette." Nixon started while looking at Evera. Evera became nervous when Nixon used her second name. He only use that when he is serious and worried, but mostly, when serious.
"Y-yeah?" She asked like an innocent child.
"Can I ask what you think about the dragon?" Nixon asked her, leaning his back on the tree.
The 3 of them were outside Evera's house, between the trees. Evera looked down and played with the grass before answering.
"He's great, I guess.." She said with a soft tone while looking at the grass.
"What's wrong?" Nixon asked, this time he was concerned. And so was Lake.
"I just.. he's a dragon, and I'm just a tribrid in the human realm. What if he doesn't accept me? And if he does accept me, what if he would take me to the dragon realm and I will be away from all of you for a long time, or maybe- forever?" She asked, a tear slowly sliding down her cheek.
"You're not just a tribrid, Evera. You are a tribrid. You're more powerful than us-" He was cut off by Evera.
"That's it! I don't want to say that I am a powerful tribrid. Because Nixon, I'm a witch, a vampire, a werewolf. And when it comes to mate bonds, it is more painful when being rejected. Because I can experience triple pain." Evera said. "I'm scared he will reject me and I might die because of it. Either way, I will still be able to leave you." She added.
"Oh, my little princess." Nixon comforted and hugged her tight, Lake joined in and also hugged her tightly. Evera's tears were now racing their way out of her eyes.
"Trust me, he won't reject you. You are the most kindest and the most beautiful girl I've ever known Vera. You are also powerful. It would be a waste if he rejects you, wouldn't it?" Nixon asked her, and Evera thought about it, but her head is full of negative things.
And she knew that there's only one person who can remove those negative thoughts, and that's the dragon himself. But she is too scared to even face him.
She had always thought that her mate would just be an ordinary vampire, werewolf or maybe a human. But she never thought it would be a powerful dragon.
But she knew that it was not just a powerful dragon. After all of her study and learnings in witchcraft and other creatures, she knew everything about them.
By how tall he was, Evera is guessing he is a about 9 or 10 storey building tall. And she knew that the dragon was either a prince or a king. He is more powerful than her.
Only the very mastered and super experienced witches and wizards can be close to kill a dragon with a royal blood. Their scales are harder than diamond, rubies, or gold. Their heat and fire are almost as hot as the sun.
If they need or want to, their roar could reach one country to another and it might give a big earthquake. Even swords or arrows can't injure them. They are far harder than anyone could imagine!
We talked for a few more minutes before deciding to head off.
"Are you sure you'll be alright here with.. uhh a dragon?" Nixon asked. I just nodded at him.
He sighed and hugged me, Lake also gave me a hug after Nixon and they walked away, heading towards the pack house.
She looked at the sky that was slowly turning dark. 'How is he?' she thought. She looked back at her house before chanting a spell to cover her scent for 2 hours.
Then she ran towards the direction where she last saw her mate. As soon as she got there, she saw that the portal was already gone and the field was empty.
She thought that he had already left and went back to the dragon realm, but her heart says otherwise. She can feel that he is still here.
She sniffed on the air and indeed, she can still smell his scent and it is still fresh. She immediately ran towards the direction and stopped when she saw something glowing.
She walked towards it with slow steps and was stunned when she saw a fire, and even though she was far from the fire, the heat from it was still burning her body.
But for her, it wasn't painful. Instead, it was pleasuring and it felt so good. She looked around but didn't see anyone, But it was great that the fire was not going anywhere, It was steady.
She took a few steps towards it, and realized it was really not giving her pain, only a pure good feeling. Suddenly, she thought of an idea. But it was very risky.
She just shrugged her shoulders and brought her hands on top of the fire, she closed her eyes, ready for the pain to attack her but instead, she just felt nothing. The fire was like a hot wind to her that gives her a good feeling once again. There she knew that it was from her mate.
"Surprised?" She was startled at the unfamiliar manly voice behind her. She looked back and saw the most handsome man she had ever seen.
His black hair is a bit messy but it fit him perfectly, he has a good body structure if he was created as a greek god. Seriously, he looked so stunning.
He was leaning on a tree, arms crossed against his chest and he was looking at her with a small smirk.
EVERA
My cheeks flushed red as I was caught in the act.
"You-you are?" I asked him, but wait.. I can feel something-my eyes widened when I realized what it was. Before he could speak, I spoke again.
"You! It's you! You're the dragon, my mate!" I immediately covered my mouth when I realized what I had just said.
He gave me a stunning smile before pulling his back away from the tree and began to walk towards me. I couldn't move on my spot, I was frozen.
"Yes, it's me. My little mate." He said with a smile which made him more stunning if that's even possible.
"I.. uh," I stuttered, avoiding his eyes. Suddenly, I felt a soft grip on my chin and he made me face him. I am now looking at his eyes while he is gazing into mine.
"You're very beautiful, it's making me proud." He muttered, making me blush.
"Why are you here?" I gathered all of my confidence and asked him. He just shrugged his shoulders and peaked over my back, pointing at the fire that was on the ground.
"I forgot to put out the fire so I came back," He answered, this time with a sweet smile. I just nodded and looked anywhere else but him.
"Uh.. okay, so I will go now." I said and was about to run away when Drayce caught my hand that made me stop.
I'm a witch so I managed to discover his name when we were making eye contact.
"Do you have a place where I can stay? I really want to sleep comfortably."
