The time was already past eleven when the guests began to disperse, it was a fun filled party and everyone enjoyed it especially Alex. He was happy that he was able to make his father's house lively again after many years of solitary. For one night he forgot about his revenge plans and was genuinely happy. This was the only property that belonged to his family that he knew off and this was where he was going to live now. Overall, the night was a success. After the last guest was gone, he was left with his fiancée and her family and that was when the instincts of his revenge came back.
The fact that Gerald was still seated in the room comfortably made him want to puke. "Congratulations brother in law" Dylan walked up to him. "Thanks man" he plastered a fake smile on his lips. "I really want to see how you will turn this into a major profit Alex" Gerald said from where he sat down which made Alex ball his hand into a fist. Was this old man kidding him right now? Did he think everyone was money minded just like him? "You don't need to worry father, I will make sure to give you a good show" "I will be anticipating" after he was done talking, Gerald stood up and kissed his daughter goodbye while exchanging shakes with Alex. After a brief conversation, he walked away with his son and the couple was left to themselves. Alex closed his eyes and rested his head on the headrest, he was very tired and Clarrisa could see it from his face. "You should really get some rest, Alex. You look so stressed out. "No baby" he finally sat up, "we promised to celebrate our wedding news right? I can't go to bed and leave you" even if he badly wanted to rest, he didn't want to give her the inkling that he didn't care about her which he didn't by the way. "It's okay" she clasped her hand over his, "I totally understand and moreover I need to get home to discuss a few things with my mum. I purposely told my dad and brother not to say anything about the wedding seeing how tired you were. So just take some rest okay? I will call the cleaning company to send a few persons to take care of this mess here" "Thank you so much baby" he gave her a peck on the cheek and she blushed, Alex knew how to be romantic and she never got used to it yet. After he was sure she already left, Alex slumped on the sofa and picked up his phone. The person from the other end answered on the first ring. "Hello" "How are you feeling now?" Alex asked as he leaned back on the couch, "sorry i couldn't call you since, was kind of busy with the party" "Did it go well?" Bianca asked from the other end, "I couldn't help you with anything and I am sorry about that" Alex massaged the space at the back of his neck before standing up from the sofa, he was suddenly feeling sad and missing his family. It was harder than he thought, it was so hard not to feel like crying, especially when you are standing in the same place where your family was massacred. "Hey Alex, are you there?" Bianca asked again and he jolted back to reality, he must have zoned out again. "It's fine B, everything went fine and I already announced my wedding" The lady from the other end was quiet for a while, she was not in support of the wedding and would never be in support of it but it was more like a foundation for what Alex had planned. "Are you okay?" She finally inquired after a while, "you know you can tell me anything right?" Alex closed his eyes and went back to the sofa, he didn't know what to say or how to say it. "I'm I doing the right thing?" He finally asked, "am I wasting too much time?" "Look Alex, you are doing perfectly fine okay? I would have loved to be there for you now but Gerald is hot on my trail. Just keep doing what you are doing and don't worry okay? I will help in any way I can" "Thank you so much B" "You are welcome boo" His lips finally curled into a smile, she was his happy pill after all. "How's Williams and your daughter?" "All good alex, now take some rest okay? Tomorrow is going to be a very busy day for you" "Sure" After a while he ended the call before picking the remote from the table and he pressed a button. "Breaking news" the newscaster's voice reached his ears, "the business tycoon, Alexander Chase, has finally announced his wedding to take place next weekend, on the fifth of July 2023. The business guru has revealed this during his housewarming party which took place a few hours ago and he used that opportunity to invite a few friends to the wedding, the wedding which is slated to hold in the biggest cathedral in America has been the talk of the country for a while now and everyone is anticipating how big it will turn out to be" A loud chuckle escaped his lips as he switched off the television again and he continued to laugh. Humans were a funny breed and he couldn't help but keep laughing. Here he was concerned about how to get revenge and they were all excited about his wedding? Were they kidding him? "A wedding of doom" he allowed the words to roll out of his mouth as his eyes darkened. anytime he remembered Gerald, his blood always boiled, "Get ready to have the biggest wedding of your life, risa" he muttered again while balling his hand into a fist. **** The drive home was not so pleasant as Gerald kept receiving calls upon calls, he had not been able to find Bianca and he was getting apprehensive about it. The fact that Alex didn't even seem suspicious of him made him less comfortable, he wanted to find her and end her before anything else happened. The last thing he heard was that sus was in the hospital but now she was nowhere to be found and even her best friend didn't look like he knew her whereabouts either. "Dad" Dylan prodded him and he turned his attention to his son who had a questionable look on his face, "why do you look so lost dad? You have been like this since we left Alex's" Gerald placed one of his hand on his son's shoulder, if only Dylan was more like him. If only his only son was as ruthless. "I am fine, just tired" "Are you sure? You don't look fine though" "I am fine Dylan, quit asking me questions" Gerald said through gritted teeth and turned his attention to the rear window, a lot was on his mind but he wanted to find Bianca at all cost.
Clarrisa slumped on the bed and grabbed her pillow, the smile on her face continued to grow and intensify. The thought of her getting married the next weekend made her heart beat faster than usual. Finally she was going to be Alex's wife and that too for life, this was a dream come through and no one was allowed to meddle in her dreams. The soft knock on the door made her jolt out of her reverie and that was when her mother pushed the door open and entered.
"Hey mum" Clarrisa sat up on the bed and crossed her legs against her chest, "I thought you were already asleep given the time and that's why I didn't come to meet you" Gwen's lips curled into a smile and she perched on the space near the bed, the news of her daughter's wedding was everywhere and she was one hell of a proud mother. "You are glowing, risa" her hand was caressing her face gently. The girl gave an awkward smile, "stop it mum, it was just announced today and I am already glowing?" "Of course darling" her mother tucked a few strands of hair to the back of her neck, "you are glowing and it is a good thing baby" she paused for a while and studied her daughter. The glow she was seeing in her daughter these few days was much more than she could imagine. Clarrisa was a hopeless romantic when it came to Alex and she was proud of the fact that her daughter was happy.....extremely happy. "Mum" Clarrisa prodded her and she jolted back to reality, "what are you thinking about so intently mum?" A look of concern was written all over her face. "It's nothing sweetheart" Gwen answered with a smile on her face, "I am extremely happy for you and we need to start the preparations for the wedding. There is a lot to do, I can't wait" Clarrisa couldn't even help but smile, getting married to Alex was the only thing on her mind right now and nothing was going to change that. In a few days, she will be Mrs Clarrisa Alexander chase. ******* With a wine flute twirling in his hand, Alex was standing on the balcony of the house while looking at the stars gracing the sky. The memories of his childhood became fresh in his memory and he remembered how he sat at that same spot years ago when he wanted to be alone or away from people. That was the Kind of life he lived all those years ago but now he was more like a shadow of his former self. The fact that he lived only for revenge now made everything more complicated, Alex had always wanted to live a peaceful and easy life but who knew that fate was trying to play a fast one on him? Now he was the Alex who was not the Alex ...ironically funny. His train of thought was interrupted when his phone rang and unknowingly his lips curled into a smile, this was the only person he loved talking to. Pressing the receive button, he jammed the phone on his ears, "Why are you still awake?" This was the first thing he asked the caller and the person from the other end heaved a sigh. "I was worried about you, Alex" Bianca's worried voice reached his ears. "Worried?" He asked with a shrug while taking a mouthful of his drink, "I am perfectly fine and it is a good night, the sky is pretty and I am standing on the balcony of the Baxter mansion, what more can I ask for?" "Alex" Bianca called again, "are you drunk?" His lips continued to curl up in a smile, "drunk? I just had some wine. Why will I drink? I have no reason to drink and I am too underage to drink" Bianca couldn't help but sigh again, she could totally understand how he felt. From losing one's family to getting married to your family's murderer and handling the responsibility of someone else's company, it was too big a deal for the boy trapped inside Alex's body to comprehend. For the past few months she has seen how Jayden has struggled to imbibe the life of Alex and it was not an easy job, Alex was a complicated man and becoming him was the work of a professional. "I am coming over, okay?" She finally said and he nodded his head in the negative even if she was not seeing him. "You are not fully healed Bianca and moreover Gerald is going crazy trying to look for you. I can't risk your life at this point again and you need to stay with your family" "Don't argue with me Alex and get some lemon water to clear your head, you sound very drunk" He knew he could not win against her even if he tried but he was worried about her safety, Alex didn't want Gerald to get her again and that was one thing he was going to avoid no matter what. "Don't be stubborn Bianca, Gerald is hot on your trail" "See you in five" then she ended the call. If loyalty was a human then it was Bianca, she was loyal to a fault and Alex noticed. She was a rare type of person to have as a friend. When she ended the call, Alex sighed and gulped the whole content of the wine glass before heading into the house. More like Alex's big mansion, it felt more homely here except the fact that it was empty and lonely. It was like fate was trying to toil with him because the ringing of his doorbell reached his ears. "Is she here already?" He muttered under his breath as he made his way down the stairs, he wasn't expecting her to come so soon. His nanny's face came into view the moment he opened the door and a look of surprise flashed across his face. "Esmeralda?" Alex was shocked, he didn't expect her to come over and how did she even know his house? "Hey boy" the old lady greeted and sauntered into the house, she was not even surprised in the least. "I didn't know you were coming and ......" his voice trailed off, she looked mad and he had never seen her angry like that before. "So I no longer mean anything to you, Alex?" The woman went straight to the point, "I am just a regular worker to you now right?" "What do you mean, meralda?" Alex inquired. She had the inkling to smack him across the face so hard, why was he so nonchalant about things? "So I am not family enough for you to tell me anything about the house you bought or the housewarming party? I had to hear it from the media myself Alex, i thought you treated me like family and now...." She paused and dropped the basket of fruit on the table, "anyways that is by the way. You are the almighty Alexander chase and I must have overplayed my part when I thought you took me as your mother, I will send the workers tomorrow and..." she was still talking when he pounced into her embrace, maybe he needed a hug and she was the best person for it. "I am sorry aunt, it is not what you think okay?" He was still in her embrace, " a lot is going on and I promise I will tell you everything when the time is right, okay?" "Oh, Alex," the woman hugged him tighter, "I just want you to be fine, okay?" "Sure" "Family?" A voice asked from a little distance and they turned to see Bianca by the door
"Oh Bianca" Alex moved away from Esmeralda and walked over to the lady who just entered. "You don't listen do you?" Alex reprimanded as he helped her into the house, "what if Gerald had his men on your trail?" He fumed further, "can't you try to be a little careful?" Esmeralda who didn't understand a word they were saying creased her forehead into a frown, what has anything got to do with Gerald? "Is there something I don't know?" She asked and Bianca turned her attention to Alex.
"Is there something aunt meralda no nothing of?" She raised an eyebrow, "I mean you are spitting so much nonsense that even I can't comprehend" Alex seemed to understand the sarcasm in her voice and he immediately understood what she was trying to do, he was too overwhelmed and he forgot that Esmeralda was not supposed to know who he was. "It's nothing, meralda, I think you should get going now. I will be back tomorrow okay?" "But..." her voice trailed off when he cut her short with a smile. "Don't worry about me and just go home okay? It is already very late" The old lady sighed. She just couldn't understand this man. "It's okay aunt, I will watch over his drunk ass" Bianca chipped in and the woman rolled her eyes. "I wonder what Williams will say when you keep leaving as you please, isn't he suspicious?" Bianca shrugged and groaned in pain, the wound from the Stab was not fully healed yet and the fact that Gerald was still looking for her. "I will lead you to the car" Alex didn't even wait for her response and led Esmeralda out of the room and he didn't go back until he saw the car drive out of the house and that was when he rushed into the house. This time Bianca was on the sofa and she had her hand on her tummy making her look all tired. "Are you okay?" Alex inquired while taking his space near her, "I told you not to bother coming but you never listen do you? "What are your plans now Alex? You can't just focus on the wedding and forget that we actually have work to do'' Bianca tried sitting up as she talked, "I feel like you are no longer interested in your actual goal" "What?" Alex could not believe his ears, "what do you mean?" She sighed and closed her eyes before speaking up again. "Isn't it obvious Alex? You seem more concerned about the wedding than the fact that you have a mission to accomplish" Her statement made Alex laugh heartily and he stood up from where he was seated, she was really sounding so funny right and all he could do was laugh. "So you think I have forgotten what I want to do and I am some love stricken bastard?" "It seems so" Alex couldn't help but laugh at her nativity, was she kidding him right now? Forget about his revenge? There was absolutely nothing in the world that would make him forget about that and that was final. "You know I didn't ask you to come here tonight right?" He suddenly said and Bianca's jaw dropped. "What?" "If you are going to sit there and badmouth me, it's better you leave Bianca and I mean it. Do you think this is easy for me? You just...." His voice went flat and he balled his hand into a fist, "don't annoy me Bianca and I mean it. "What?" The lady began to laugh so badly, "this is ridiculous Alex" her laughs continued to resonate in his ears, "I am helping you and don't forget that you owe my best friend your life okay? Without him you won't be here at this point so you better show some respect" "Yes, of course. I owe him my life and because of that I can't even do anything with mine? Aren't you being a litle unfair at this point Bianca? I am standing in the same position my father was murdered and you think I don't want Gerald to pay for what he did? Are you kidding me right now?" Now he was fucking angry and he could no longer hide it, the fact that he was pretending to be happy all these while came crashing to the ground and all he wanted to do at the point was hold Gerald by the neck and strangle the life out of him. "Alex, I...." The words hung in her throat when he halted her with his hand. "It is getting late and I don't want Gerald finding you at this point, maybe you should leave. I really want to be alone and thank you for letting me know you only care about your friend and nothing more" After he was done talking, he picked up his earpiece from the table and fixed it in. "Ryan" he called and the person from the other end immediately responded with a "boss" hinting a bit of gratitude. "Get Bianca's car ready and make sure she is safe" "Yes boss" He then removed the earpiece again and placed it back on the table before turning his attention to her. "Ryan will take you home and thanks for helping me until now but I will prefer to work alone now. I have put your life in danger once and I don't want to do it again" Alex didn't even bother to wait for her response before making his way up the stairs leaving the stupefied lady to herself. All in the months that they both have worked together, Bianca had never seen him so mad and it was practically her fault. She crossed the line this time and.....she sighed and stood up. Now would not be the best time to talk to him and with that in mind, she grabbed her bag and sauntered out of the house. Hiding from Gerald was not because she was scared, she loved how impatient he always looked and the fact that he knew she was still alive but couldn't get her thrilled her the most, revenge was a lot to do and one person would not be able to do it alone. ***** After Alex entered his room, he flung his phone on the bed and sat on the floor. Tears were already welling up in his eyes and he couldn't stop himself anymore, he allowed the hard bitter tears to roll down his face. People would think he was the ruthless Alexander chase but who would think that inside his body lived a fifteen year old boy who was just struggling. It was hard to just pretend to be someone else and seeing the man that massacred your family walk freely on the face of the earth was another agonizing experience and he wanted it to end. But how dare Bianca think that he was no longer interested in revenge, he hated the whole of Gerald's family and this night just made it clear, he was not supposed to be soft hearted no matter what and this was going to be the beginning of his loathing towards them. Cleaning the tears from his eyes, Alex picked up his phone and dialed a certain number and the person from the other end answered. "It's been a while man" Aiden's voice filtered into his ears, "I am happily watching the news about your wedding, congratulations Alex" "I need your help, Aiden" the man went straight to the point. "About what? Wedding preparations? Being your best man? You know you can always count on me even if we are not that close" He was overly excited and Alex found it cringy, this was the first time he was seeing someone else more happy than the groom to be. "Listen to me Aiden" he half yelled into the phone while rolling his eyes, "i am fucking serious man" "What do you want me to help you with Alex" Aiden was finally serious, "tell me" "Break into a house" "What?" The man from the other end blurted, "did you hit your head again Alex? What the heck are you saying man?" His voice was laced with real fear and Alex could not help but sigh, he didn't know Aiden was a mere chicken. "Are you in or out?" He asked again, he was definitely not in the mood to chit chat with his doctor right now. "I don't even understand you Alex, what are you saying now? Do you realize I am a doctor, your doctor and not some road side junkie that will involve in acts like that" "I thought you were my friend too?" "Technically I am, man" "So you have to help me okay?" The man from the end of the line sighed, so much for friendship. "Where exactly do you want to break in?" "Gerald's mansion" "What!!!!!!!!!" Aiden screamed at the top of his lungs, "your father in law's house?" Truthfully Alex lost his mind at this point. Why would he want to break into Gerald's home? "Look Alex" Aiden was suddenly calm, "why don't you take some rest? I will come over and check on you later okay? I am sorry I was not able to attend your housewarming party but that does not mean you will have my head for it right? Alex sighed, Aiden just knew how to pretend well. "Weren't you a cyber officer in the military? I mean you are well aware of all the types of cyber crimes and how well to deal with it" "What?" Now Aiden couldn't believe his ears. Alex was sure to be mad. "Did you run a background check on me?" "Keep your friends close" Alex retorted, "if you are in, come over after work and we will discuss the plan" and like that ended the conversation without bidding the man from the other end goodbye. Alex still sat at the foot of his bed and admires the room. This used to be his room fifteen years ago but now he could only remember wrong memories about it. "Get yourself together Jayden" he muttered to himself as his mind wandered off to Bianca and he closed his eyes. Maybe he really didn't need her, he wasn't In need of sympathy but someone who would help him take down Gerald.
