Fantasy: Lucid City

Lagos, Nigeria

Inside a room in a small storey building, two boys could be seen talking and laughing loudly in the darkness of the night while laying on their bed. These two boys were my brother and I, and yes, we were basically your everyday set of siblings.

Today we are at each other's throats and tomorrow, we are the best of friends. Anyway it is to be expected when one has such a complicated background as I do. My name is Lucid King and yes, my parents were weird but awesome.

Anyway back to the main topic, I am 16 years old and in my second to final year of Secondary school or High school as it is called in other parts of the world and as for my brother, his name was Austin Bishop and yeah, he's not really my blood brother.

He is more of my cousin on my mother's side. His family consisted of him, his parents, elder brother and younger sister. His family took me in after my parents were involved in some really life-changing shit that they didn't return from and for nearly 8 years or so now, I have been living with them and have really gotten used to things.

The Bishop family is a nice family of six(6) and that's including me. The family was pretty boring and normal if you asked me but then again which family isn't boring when compared to the families you see on T.V but this nice little family had one little problem.......... Dad was a Clergyman and a high-ranking one at that, an actual Bishop and this time it wasn't just his name.

This is not exactly a problem in any way in fact it is a pro rather than a con in the sense that you are always trusted no matter the situation but that was the problem. I mean due to Dad's occupation and rank in it, we the children or family in general are expected to behave a certain way...... ways that represent our father which is wack if you think of it.

I mean because your father is a lawyer doesn't mean i should expect you to either to be one in future or to behave like one nor do i expect said person to always uphold justice but no, it's the other way around for a clergy's children.

They are expected to be this set of holy robots that never go against anything and are well behaved to the core, always meeting the expectations of others.........*Sighs*...... It's just frustrating and basically means that you can't play or have fun like your friends because apparently a Bishop's children don't play instead they are always reading and all that, we don't need friends because we have God. I mean we all do have God.

OK.... I think I may have gone too deep, anyway, on to our main story. As we lay in darkness, ready to sleep. There was a sudden growling noise

"Wait Austin did you hear that" i asked in shock as the noise suddenly ended our three minutes pact of silence in order for use to go to sleep

"Why are you even asking, of course, it's your sister Carol" Austin said in a fed up tone and instantly the growling stopped as a muffled laughter was heard

Hearing the laughter, we immediately turned on the lights and true to our suspicion, there she was on the floor trying her best not to burst out in loud laughter.

"God, which kind of girl are you, you want to give somebody's son heart attack this night" Austin said with a smile that indicated that he was just joking but even then it didn't stop her from laughing instead it increased as she started hitting the floor while laughing so hard that tears came out

"Argh! Shey your sister is ok ni" i asked in pidgin while looking at Austin who just joined her in her laughter

(A/N: Pidgin is an informal Nigerian language created from mixing various other languages with either English or the speaker's native dialect. Mostly used in Informal setting to show familiarity or sometimes by thugs to declare dominance, Pidgin is just a weird mix of english so most would understand it immediately)

"Mmff..mmff.....hahahaha" Carol burst out laughing when she was no longer able to hold herself while she pointed at me.

"Hahaha... you should have seen your face" She said in between laughter

"You will not go and sleep, be here looking for trouble" Austin said slightly frustrated

"Mtcheww, ordinary growling that even dog used to do, you are already fearing for your life" She said jokingly, honestly i too am beginning to wonder where this girl is from

"Wait what are you doing.... Oh come on now, close the door" I shouted when I noticed her leaving the door open on her return to her room thereby letting in the light from the corridors.

"Omo this your sister deserves better beating oh" Austin said as he struggled to stand up, he was faking it to make me do it.

"No be small beating" I replied then just stood up to close the door since I knew Austin wouldn't do it, he's even lazier than I am and my principle is 'anything i cant reach is not needed'.

Some minutes later, we both were lying on the bed, silent as we tried to sleep but unfortunately for me, I wasn't catching that sleep anytime soon.

"Austin what would you do if you had 3 million friends" i asked trying to start up a conversation but all that i met was complete silence

"The idiot has slept" I thought while looking at my brother who was already lost in dreamland.

Minutes passed as I waited for sleep to come and swipe me off my feet and thankfully it did or at least I think it did. That was all I thought until I found myself inside this weird gray space. I did not know the exact situation I was in but I felt alive and at the same time dead.

"Is this astral traveling" i thought immediately because in all my 'vast' little knowledge, Astral traveling best explains what is happening to me after all everywhere i have gotten information about Astral traveling has always said that it can only achieved when unconscious, well atleast for beginners and it is a state of being both dead and alive.

[Are you Mr King] A strange but somewhat soothing voice said out of nowhere

"Mm?"

Turning around, I saw a pilla........ Oh my god!!, It's a giant. Turning around, i saw myself face to face with a giant thigh and looking up, i saw what i should call the most beautiful creature i have ever seen, well obviously he's not as handsome as me...... wait is it a he or a she

[Oh yes, i forgot, Mortals] The being said and in the next second, i saw him shrink from his world eclipsing size to normal human size. Looking at him or it properly, I can say I was right, he is the most beautiful creature I have seen so far but then again what exactly has a 16 year old seen.

[Mr King, I am &%$££ I am what is known as a messenger god, I am here on behalf of the God Council... and he is no longer listening, Hey!!] the being shouted instantly waking me up from my stupor

"Oh!.... Sorry, what did you say your name was again" I asked, hey nobody should blame me ok, this guy is the definition of perfection

[My name is not important, I am here on behalf of the God Council, You have being chosen to attend this Cycle's meeting, here is your invitation] The being said then handed me a small coin

"Wait, go back a bit, did you say God Council '' I asked, this is weird, I may be a christain but it doesn't mean that i believe in there is only one god crap. I mean even the bible tells us otherwise i.e if you actually understand what you are reading but being told that there are other gods in existence by a supernatural being is on a whole other level

First of all, I am only accepting this whole ordeal as reality because I am astral traveling in the first place. The very concept of Astral traveling is letting your spirit roam the land, it is a spiritual exercise so you are bound to encounter a spiritual being eventually, mine just happened a lot sooner than expected but now this being tells me that there is a God counc......

"Wait a minute, you said I have been chosen..... Chosen for what?" i asked

[I don't know, you accept the invitation and you will find out, i am just a messenger god] the being replied, ok i haven't noticed this but he clearly isn't speaking English

"What language is that, why can i understand you clearly"

[Divine Language, Speaks to the soul not the body, now good day, when you ready to attend the meeting, you hold the coin and say the words, 'I accept] The being said then disappeared

"Wait, come back i still have many questions, what is your workout routine!!!" i shouted after him but he didnt stop, its either he didn't hear me or he's just ignoring me but considering that he is a god then he probably did so Imma go with the latter option

=(POV Shift)=

Looking at the coin, Lucid couldn't help but feel as though he was dreaming but he knew he wasn't. He could feel and tell where everything was, hell he could even see his own body lying on the bed beneath him. In this scenario, Lucid wasn't so sure if he was truly astral traveling or that he was just simply dead.

"What type of coin is this?'' Lucid asked himself as he cleared his mind of all other distractions, worrying about it that wouldn't help in this situation. Examining the coin, Lucid couldn't find anything of relevance on the coin. It was just of a circular block of gold, that is if it was really made of gold

"Lord help me, I accept" Lucid shouted then immediately readied his heart and posture for whatever scenario he might find himself in, he immediately got into a 'Defensive' position

Seconds passed and Lucid noticed that what he expected didn't happen in fact nothing had happened at all. He was still in the same posture he was in and presumably also in the same place as before. When Lucid finally peeked over his shoulders, he found himself face to face with a big eyeball

"Argh!!!" He shouted falling to the ground as he finally got a full view of the eyeball. It was a floating white ball with a blue eyeball

[What are you doing] The ball asked

"What the f.... You can talk, no wait how do you know english" Lucid asked while standing up, at this point, he wasn't all that surprised at what he saw, he was more concerned if they meant him harm or not and this ball thingy does not

[What's English, I speak @$%£# and what type of lifeform are you, my system does not have any lifeforms like you] The ball asked as several limb like things came out of its body,

Hearing the ball, Lucid could at least make out two things, The ball either spoke the same language as that god which means it too was a god or that it just spoke a similar language and second, that the ball was an alien lifeform which scraps the theory of it being a god but then again gods can also be considered to be aliens after all they live in a different dimension so to Earthlings, they are aliens.

"What are you doing" Lucid asked surprised at its actions but also got ready to fight should it be necessary

[mimicking you] the ball said as it's transformation was completed, it took a bipedal form, though still completely white, he now looked human with the arms, legs and all that though his face had no special features.

"Why are you doing that" Lucid asked

[According to my studies of the various races in my system, i have come to the conclusion that sentient beings feel much safer when you approach them with a similar appearance] the ball explained

"Oh then are you part of the God Council? '' Lucid asked, expecting a yes, because that would mean that he had just become familiar with a god without much stress.

[Oh no no, My species may be weird from the perspective of most races but we aren't gods, I am a Silicon based lifeform from the planet #@£$& In the $%£&@ Galaxy]

"Oh" Lucid said, slightly confused, then he finally noticed the environment which he had completely ignored because of both his fear of the ball and his interest in it.

Lucid found himself in an White environment, there was nothing else, just the ever expanding whiteness and the many figures standing in wait. There were others apart from himself and the ball.

"Well that proves we are not alone in the Universe '' Lucid thought as he looked at the various figures that were standing and waiting, some of them were just overly big, some too tall, some were trees, their existence alone was enough to put any weeb in eternal bliss.

[You, What type of lifeform are you] The ball asked as it floated around him

"Ehm, Carbon based, from the planet Earth in the Milky Way galaxy" Lucid explained in a single breath as he continued admiring the magnificence of the other races

[Where is that?]

"Huh?, i don't know, your language is different from mine, so the names might be different, you may know it as a different name, We aren't a developed race yet"

[Hmm, that is surprising well it doesn't matter, i am sure that after today you will bring your planet to the interstellar age right] The ball said,

Others may have being weirded out by the talking ball but Lucid just found him talkative, Lucid always considered himself an open-minded being but looking at some of the races here, he just couldnt help but develop a little bit of Xenophobia. Some of the races here needed to be wiped from existence. Their appearance alone was extremely offensive

"Ehm What Race is that?" Lucid asked, pointing at a creature that had two balls for legs and a large shaft for a chest and neck, its head was basically a cap. To some of the people back on Earth, this appearance was just offensive but to Lucid and basically every Human boy in existence, this was hilarious.

(A/N: The Creature looks like a Dick, I wonder how their female looks like)

[I don't know, I don't think i have met any creature like that before, it must be from a different galaxy] The ball replied and Lucid nodded whilst holding back his laughter.

MInutes passed as they all stood waiting, normally this would be the part where numerous people start to complain and curse the people keeping them waiting but nobody, no matter how dissatisfied they were could try it after all they weren't waiting for ordinary peoples, these were Gods, who knows what would happen when you bad-mouth them.

[Welcome Mortals, to this Cycle's council Meeting, All of you have being chosen by us for a purpose that will be relayed to you later, for now, follow the arrows with your Planet's Name on it] A majestic voice sounded out of nowhere drawing the attention of nearly everyone in the white space, the voice was extremely overbearing despite the polite tone used, it still commanded absolute obedience

Amongst everything Lucid had seen today, what amazed him the most was the language. Earthlings were busy praising English as a language that has a spelling for every sound you make but these people took languages to a whole different level, i don't even know what language this is and i can clearly hear the gibberish that sounded just now but yet, i still understood the intent and message in the sentence.

Guess the language really speaks to the soul instead of the body but then it also doesn't explain how the user understands what the listener says.

As the voice fell, a blue arrow magically appeared in front of Lucid and on it was some stupid looking scribbles but to Lucid, he somehow understood the meaning of these unintelligible scribbling. Looking around, Lucid said that it was the same for everybody. Though the symbols may not be the same but the style of writing was the same but yet from what he could see, all of them understood it. At this point, Lucid already had a small aim in his heart that even if he didn't gain anything today, he would make sure that he learns this language. He could already see the possibilities of what he could achieve with this language.

From what he could see, this was one of those fictional or well now-real languages that are somehow able to describe everything, the English language doesnt exactly have a description of many things for example, the colour blue or love or loyalty, it will just tell you that it is part of the colour wheel or some other similar explanation but with this language, he was somehow able to get a full picture of the Planet Earth despite just looking at three seemingly stupid symbols.

With this type of language, Coding would be no different from just describing what you want. For example, if you want a program that translates spanish to English then all you have to do is just write 'Translate Spanish to English' and the computer would do it easily. If this type of language was used to create a new computer language then the world of programming would be instantly revolutionized as it would be a game changer

(A/N: I am not good at Coding or Programming thus i know next to nothing about it but i hope i was at least able to make you understand what i mean)
