Chapter 1 First Love
Danica Waylon started feeling nostalgic as soon as she looked around the familiar surroundings after getting out of the airport.
Welcome home, Danica, she told herself and glanced at her eleven-year-old brother who was ecstatic to be back in California after being gone for three years.
Danica couldn't help but smile at his excitement. Seeing the suddenly confused expression on his face, she ruffled his dark brown hair and said, "Aziel, you don't have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. I know how to get to our old place."
Crossing his arms against his chest, Aziel frowned. "Why can't I remember where we lived before? It was only three years ago, so I shouldn't have forgotten our hometown."
Danica pursed her lips, not bothering to answer him immediately. She pulled the luggage along with her and headed towards the cab. Aziel ran ahead and blocked her way with his small frame.
"Why don't I remember, Dani?" he asked again with an undercurrent of disappointment in his voice.
She sighed and replied before opening the cab door, "Aziel, you were only eight at that time." Aziel pouted but got in the cab nonetheless, like the obedient kid he's always been. "Just focus on enjoying your summer here." Danica hopped in as well and rolled down the windows on her side, blocking the scorching afternoon sunlight.
"Dani, you haven't forgotten my birthday wish, right? You will help me fulfil my wish, won't you?" he asked with hopeful hazel eyes.
Glancing at him, Danica nodded her head. Aziel grinned in happiness and placed his head on her shoulder. She started to pat his head lightly as she started pondering how she would possibly be able to grant this one wish. The smile on her face dropped as soon as her brother closed his eyes, a cold and distant look took over her face instead.
Danica had decided to come back to California after three long years, just to try and help Aziel get his wish and she was absolutely clueless on how they could go about it. On top of that impossible situation, coming back to their hometown brought with it a lot of happy memories which are now painful. It was her decision to return, yes, but now what?
She sighed, something would come to her, it just had to.

"Hey, my Stones! How have you been doing? Welcome back to Troy's Reels. If you are new to my channel, let me tell you why I call y'all Stones. It's because you guys are my rock. Without your support, I am nothing. So you guys mean the world to me," Troy Kingston said, facing the camera kept on his table, recording his new WhyNTube video. WhyNTube was a hot, up and coming social platform where people could upload different videos and gain popularity. "Today I had planned on doing a vlog and it will start with-"
"Troy, I am going to ChocoVivo Café. Want to tag along?" Hernan called out after barging into his bedroom without knocking-as usual.
"Wherever there's free food, you will find Troy Kingston with his camera. So is the food free?" Troy asked. He turned off his camera and looked at Hernan Matias, who was one of his best friends and a WhyNTuber just like him. The eccentric name of the café was enough for him to decline the offer, but that wasn't the real reason he did not want to visit that place-it would remind him of someone he did not want to remember.
Hernan narrowed his eyes at Troy and let out, "No, but it will be helpful for your vlog. At least your fans won't think you are a social shut-in who rarely goes out and keeps making the same old vlogs which include nothing but your exercise regime and what kind of takeout you prefer." Troy snickered at the last sentence. He lost his interest from the moment he heard there wouldn't be any free food. "And who knows? If you are lucky, you might just bump into one of your crazy fans whom you can include in the vlog," Hernan suggested.
Twitching his lips, Troy thought for a while before giving in, "Fine, give me two minutes. I'll change into something better."
Hernan chuckled, looking at his current outfit, which almost made Troy look like he just got out of bed. "I'll be waiting in the parking lot then," Hernan announced and made his way out of the Rose mansion-a mansion where an exclusive group of young celebrities lived, who just so happened to be close friends since their middle school years.
###
"Stop," Danica let out when her eyes fell on a certain café. The cab driver hit the brakes at that instant moment and peered at the brown wavy-haired girl through the mirror. "I need to grab a cup of hot chocolate from here, if you wouldn't mind stopping for a minute."
The driver smiled and glanced at the coffee shop, which was famous for its special hot chocolate. Aziel was sleeping peacefully in the car, so the driver, who looked like he was in his mid-forties, assured, noticing Danic was skeptical about leaving Aziel alone in the car, "Get your cocoa. The kid is safe here."
Pushing a few locks of her brown hair behind her ear, Danica got out of the cab. She straightened the light wrinkles that formed on her white top and dusted her mid-thigh length denim skirt before walking inside her favorite coffee shop. She stood in the long line, patiently waiting for her turn to come.
While she was looking around, her heartbeat thrummed all of a sudden. Danica huffed and wished for the line to move faster. She knew that when her heartbeat sped up, it was because something was about to happen-good or bad, it didn't matter. Given the kind of life she was leading, she didn't expect anything good to happen to her anymore. Even smiling wholeheartedly was hard for her nowadays.
Was it a good decision to get out of the cab just for a cup of hot chocolate? She had no idea, but at least she could keep the cab in her sights while she was waiting.
Fortunately, the line began moving faster, and before she knew it; she was standing in front of the barista.
"One ho-"
"Oh my god!" the thirty-year-old woman who was taking the orders squealed. She couldn't believe her eyes; it was like seeing a ghost in front of her eyes. "Is it really you, Danica?" She touched Danica's cold hand and gasped. "Oh my god. Wait, let me bring your favorite hot chocolate."
"Hi, Stacy." Danica tried to paste a polite smile on her face, trying to hide her nervousness. She didn't expect to see one of her old neighbors working at this place. "And yeah, it's really me."
Flashing her dimples, Stacy handed her the drink. "How long will you be staying? Are you back for good or-"
"Are you done yet?" questioned an irritated customer. "Hurry up, please."
"Come over to my place tonight. I'll answer all your questions there," Danica offered and grabbed her drink before moving out of the line in a hurry.
Just as Danica was about to pull the door to leave the shop, she froze when she heard a familiar voice, "Guess who's at ChocoVivo Café with his best friend today?" Danica reluctantly turned around and looked at the handsome man, wearing a light brown shirt over his white tee with blue jeans. His blue eyes suddenly shifted from the camera to the woman's face who was looking straight at him. Just like her, his heart also skipped a beat. The only word that managed to slip through his mouth was her name. "Danica?"
Her breath hitched. She tumbled a step at the unexpected encounter with the guy she had a massive crush on back in school. She couldn't believe how her heart still jumped at the first sight of him. She thought she was over him-her crush on him was years ago. But little did she know that seeing him in front of her would awaken that warm, fuzzy feeling in her chest all over again. She was all too aware that Troy Kingston had become a famous WhyNTuber. In fact, she made sure she took time out of her busy schedule to watch his daily videos every night, not that she was obsessed or anything.
"Troy," she managed to mumble, expecting a warm greeting from him. After all, Troy had always been friendly, the life of the party type of person. She probably wouldn't even mind if he pulled her in a tight bear hug like old times. What she didn't expect was for him to walk right past her, making his way out of the shop without another word. He didn't even spare her a second glance.
Danica stood there shocked at what just happened. She had bumped into her former best friend, and he just ignored her, like she was just another girl on the street. Her instincts told her to run after him, but she didn't have that courage anymore. She didn't know what to say to him. Was he still angry because she had left three years ago without saying a word?
"Hazel, is it really you? I can't believe it. No long no see." Danica got startled at Hernan's shout, he was still as charming as ever. He has always called her 'Hazel' ever since middle school because of her hazel eyes.
"Yeah, same. How's life?" Danica asked awkwardly.
"Great. What about you?" he questioned back. He was really glad to see one of his best friends after such a long time.
"Fine," she lied, then bit her lip.
"Are you back in town now?"
"Yes." She averted her gaze. She was in no state to talk to him at that moment. She just wanted to escape-like she had been doing for the past three years. "Aziel is alone in the cab, so I really have to go right now. See you later, Hernan," she said before rushing out of the coffee shop.
Just as she was getting in the cab outside the shop, her hazel eyes briefly met the intense blue eyes she encountered just a few minutes ago. Troy was standing right near the café entrance with an inscrutable look on his face.
Even though she had known Troy for years, she couldn't decipher the strange look in his eyes. Without another thought, she closed the door and said to the cab driver, "Start the car."
Troy watched the cab leaving. He wanted to stop Danica, but he couldn't speak up, it was as if his voice went missing. But given his confusing feelings, maybe it was better to let her leave. Right now, he was overwhelmed with unsure emotions.
Undoubtedly, he was happy to see Danica. He also wanted to ask various questions. Troy didn't let anyone know, but he was very hurt when Danica left without saying a single word before. Then again, he couldn't think of anything else but wanting to know how she had been doing for the three years. Has she been well? She seemed to have lost weight since the last time he saw her.
"What are you thinking, bro?" Hernan asked after placing a hand on his shoulder.
Troy almost jumped out of his skin at the sudden contact, "You scared me!"
"Well, that was the intention," Hernan replied. "Guess who I met today?"
"Danica?"
"Have you seen her?" Hernan was surprised that Troy wasn't already leaping in joy. Troy simply nodded. "Anyways, what do you want to order?" Hernan asked absentmindedly as he was texting Trevor Bennett, their other best friend, and a model, about the arrival of Danica in town.
"Hot chocolate," Troy replied with a small smile on his lips.
Hernan stopped typing on his phone at his unexpected reply and placed his hand over Troy's forehead to check whether he was burning up or not. "You don't have a fever. Are you sure you want hot chocolate? That was Danica's favori-wait," he paused. "What did I miss while flirting with that handsome dude over there? How come I didn't see you two talking?"
Troy didn't bother to reply and just looked in the direction Danica left, a brief smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Of course, he had every one of her favorites noted down in his head. After all, Danica Waylon was and always would be his first love.
Chapter 2 Agreement
The cab finally came to a stop in front of Danica's old house. She was still shaken up from her brief encounter with Troy. In fact, all the way from the café to her home, all she thought about was Troy. But as soon as she laid her eyes on the stone-front house, she forgot all about him as all the memories related to that house came rushing at her like a tidal wave. She relieved all the good memories spent within those walls with a sad smile on her face for a few minutes.
She quickly replaced her sad smile with a cheerful one when she noticed a sleepy Aziel snuggling up to her. "Aziel, we are home," she whispered as she threaded her fingers through his hair, just like she used to do when he was a baby.
He rubbed his eyes and glanced at the house groggily. His eyes opened wide with a gasp. "Wow. Did we really live in this beautiful house? Is it really ours?" he asked enthusiastically, hopping out of the cab. Danica nodded. "I hope it's not dirty because we've been gone for so long." He pouted.
"Don't worry. I hired a company to clean this house monthly when we moved out, so it should have been taken care of and maintained." Danica responded, ruffling his hair. "Let's go inside. Help me with the luggage."
"Will we really live here from now on?" Aziel asked, still in awe as he gazed around at their surroundings.
Rolling her eyes, Danica spoke up before taking the two pieces of luggage out of the car trunk, "Yes. Now don't use your excessive questions as a way to escape helping me with the luggage. Come over here." She shoved the small luggage handle in his hands and declared, "I won't be the only one dragging them."
He giggled. "Why not? You are my cute and pretty big sister."
Before she could get another word out, Aziel ran off towards the front door. She groaned but handled the belongings on her own, nonetheless.
Soon enough, the siblings got settled in the house. Aziel was busy enjoying exploring every nook and cranny of his new house and wondering why he didn't remember anything, while Danica got busy cooking dinner for them.
It was around eight in the evening when the doorbell rang up. Danica wondered who it could be since no one except Troy and Stacy knew about their arrival yet. What if it was Troy? Or worse, a burglar?
Fearfully, Danica peeked through the peephole to get a glimpse of who was banging on the door like it personally offended them. She released a sigh as she saw the person standing in front of the door. She opened the door and chuckled, "You almost gave me a heart attack, Stacy."
Stacy walked inside the house, giving a warm smile. "Where is that tiny monster? He's with you, right?"
Danica nodded and gestured with a thumb over her shoulder. "He is watching cartoons in the living room." She gave Stacy a quick hug then asked, "Did you have dinner yet?"
"Not yet, I just got off work. I will, later though."
"You're in luck, because I was making extra food," Danica said as she closed the door. As Stacy was about to decline, she was interrupted by Danica saying, "I won't take no for an answer."
"I wanted to ask if you have all the groceries you need," Stacy mumbled, making her way towards the living room.
"I had everything prepared beforehand," Danica replied and went back to the kitchen. She started cooking again while Stacy went to meet Aziel. After she put the finishing touches on the meal, she placed it on the table and announced, "Dinner's ready."
Aziel came running and secured his seat, facing the television. Then he asked, "Dani, was Stacy really our neighbor? She is really nice. She loves Boss Baby too."
Danica chuckled lightly and nodded her head before pulling a chair for herself. "She still lives in the house next door," she responded.
"Why don't you come to my house tomorrow and I'll show you around, young man?" Stacy offered when she sat down at the table. "Meanwhile, Danica can look for a way to fulfill your birthday wish."
Danica gulped down her orange juice and arched an eyebrow in amusement. "You already told her about your wish?"
Aziel nodded.
"He already loves you so much," she said to Stacy, who just laughed in response.
Stacy looked at Aziel who was now busy stuffing his mouth with pasta. "The kid is fun, you know."
"Just wait," she muttered under her breath.
"I like spaghetti and all, but couldn't we have just ordered a pepperoni pizza? That would be easier to eat in front of the TV." Aziel spoke up, and Danica shrugged her shoulders.
Stacy chuckled and averted her gaze to her plate. "He's still a good kid," she said in her defense.
Danica just rolled her eyes sarcastically and continued eating. She knew what her younger brother was like. He was an annoying little creature who was the most important thing in the world to her, and she would do anything for his sake.
###
Troy was repeatedly looking at his watch, fidgeting while sitting on the edge of his red and white king-sized bed. He had been like that since the moment he came back home. Originally, he was planning to make a new blog post tonight, but he failed to do so as his mind couldn't stop thinking about Danica. She is back, he thought to himself for the umpteenth time.
He still found it hard to believe that the first woman he fell in love with was back and he was able to bump into her again. What was he thinking of not talking to her? He should have just pulled her in for a hug and never let go. He had missed her so damn much. He tried so many things to forget her, but nothing ever worked. The only woman that made his heart skip a beat was still Danica.
Troy was lost in thought when Hernan barged in once again as if the bedroom actually belonged to him, not to Troy. "Hey, can you lend me your charg- why are you staring at your watch?" Hernan asked, furrowing his brows in confusion.
"Because I can't afford to lose track of time," he responded absentmindedly. Realizing what he said, he shook his head and turned to face Hernan who was now near the nightstand, already pulling out the charger. "Why am I blessed with your presence at this hour? Speak only if you have new ideas for videos, I can't think of a new idea."
"Then I have nothing else to say," Hernan retorted and took a seat next to Troy. "You are going back there tomorrow, aren't you?"
"He already can't wait for morning to get here so that he can go back and see her again," spoke up a brunette, leaning against the door frame. The two pairs of blue eyes looked at the dark brown-eyed model as he continued, "Our Troy is eager to see his long lost best friend."
"Why are you putting emphasis on that word? We were best friends," protested Troy.
Trevor stepped inside the room and sat on one of the white couches that occupied the far side of the room. "That's exactly what I said. Best friends," he said with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Leave it, Trevor," Hernan interrupted. "He will never admit that they were more than just friends."
"We really weren't. Stop misinterpreting the facts." Troy frowned as he glanced down at his phone.
Trevor chuckled as Hernan teased, "Yeah, right. We all know that."
Troy groaned in annoyance and walked out of his own bedroom, knowing those two wouldn't stop chewing his head. He was glad that he never told his friends about his romantic feelings for Danica, otherwise he would never hear the end of their teasing.
But they were right, all he wanted was for the morning to arrive.
###
The fresh smell of the coffee beans hit Danica's nostrils. She inhaled the aroma while stepping inside the coffee shop Stacy worked in. Stacy had left her phone at their house last night. Even if Danica might deny it to her dying breath, Stacy knew that Danica was actually here for a cup of hot chocolate.
Last night, they had chatted a lot and caught each other up on what had happened in their lives over the years, and Danica had explained everything to her after Aziel fell asleep. Thanks to God, Stacy understood everything, plus, she was supportive. However, she was disappointed that Danica didn't say anything before leaving California, for which she apologized sincerely.
Instead of standing in the line, Danica waved at Stacy to take notice of her, who nodded her head and motioned for Danica to sit in one corner. Of course, she didn't need to say what she wanted. After all, Stacy knew what she was here for. Hence, she quietly pulled out a wooden chair for herself at a table for two and sat down.
She was looking out the wall-sized window when a voice interrupted her thoughts, "Hi, is this seat taken?"
Danica's breath hitched hearing the familiar deep voice-a voice that she was used to hearing only through WhyNTube. With her heartbeat speeding up, she turned to face the tall, fair-skinned boy. His short chestnut hair seemed messy as if he came here the first thing in the morning. He was only wearing a grey hoodie and black jeans with a pair of white Converse.
"I guess your silence means no," said Troy and sat on the chair facing Danica. He placed his camera on the table and started, "How are you doing this morning?" He felt stupid for asking such a silly question.
"I'm good. What about you?"
"Fine." He pursed his lips, trying to find a safe topic to talk about. "Um, I'm sorry about yesterday. I shouldn't have just left like that," he told her.
"So why did you?" she inquired, looking anywhere but him.
"Why do you think so?" He raised an eyebrow in question, yet she kept quiet. "Danica, for god's sake, you have been gone for three years with no news whatsoever. Then you just show up here out of the blue. How do you expect me to act? I was obviously shocked when I saw you. I didn't know what to say to you, still don't really." he blurted out.
Danica looked at him in surprise and tried to come up with an excuse, "I-"
Troy interrupted her, "You know what? Never mind. You don't have to tell me why you left if you don't want to." Danica was grateful that he had always been so in tune with her. "But what brings you back here to California? And what have you been up to these days?" He was staring intently at her hazel eyes, waiting for a response.
Danica averted her gaze again and replied, "I was in New Jersey. I had gotten a free-ride to Princeton, so I settled in New Jersey with Aziel. We moved back because of Aziel. He has a birthday wish for his eleventh birthday, which went by three days ago."
Troy's heart clenched when he learned that Danica returned for Aziel's birthday wish; she didn't return for him. He knew that he shouldn't have expected her to come back just because she missed him or something, since expectations only hurt in return. Yet, somewhere in his heart, he had hoped that one day Danica would return and that maybe they could have seen where this thing between them could go. Maybe she would have never returned at all if it wasn't for Aziel.
"I suppose his wish must be something big enough for you to return here. I'm curious to know. What is it?" he asked, hiding his stung pride with a charming smile.
Soon, a waiter appeared, placing two cups of hot chocolate coffee on the table. Danica looked at Stacy, who winked at her, and mouthed, 'Enjoy.'
Danica sighed, taking a sip of her drink. It helped to calm her nerves. She still didn't understand why she felt the way she did around Troy. He was just her former best friend whom she had a crush on. It wasn't like she felt anything more than that for him. She started to speak calmly, "This summer, Aziel wants to do something which none of his classmates has ever done. I still don't know what that can be. Aziel left it all on me, so I brought him to California. I know many places here so maybe I could take him to some nice places around here and-"
"And you think that is unique?"
"No, but I can still try to find a unique place?" Danica was confused, and she was not sure if she was telling him or questioning herself.
The thick, awkward air was filled with contagious laughter within a few seconds. Troy was laughing at Danica's choice of words. "You haven't changed a bit."
He laughed for a bit more, while Danica crossed her arms over her chest, frowning. However, she was glad that she could see him laugh again. She had doubts about whether she would ever be able to see that exhilarating look on his face again, but now, her doubts were absolved.
"Done?" Danica arched an eyebrow after it seemed like Troy was finally done laughing. "Do you have a better idea?"
Troy twitched his lips, pulling himself together as his mind swirled with ideas. A better idea? He thought for a few more minutes, drinking his hot chocolate until something hit his mind. "Has anyone, let alone Aziel's classmates, lived in a mansion filled with four celebrities?"
Her eyes grew wider as she breathed out, "What are you suggesting?"
"Move into the Rose mansion. Gabrielle, I, Trevor, and Hernan, we live together, you know? And the four of us are celeb influencers. I am sure Aziel will love something like that as his birthday gift."
"Troy..." Danica paused for a brief moment, pursing her lips thoughtfully.
Meanwhile, Troy could feel the familiar feeling in his heart again, something he felt each time Danica uttered his name-those goosebumps.
"Troy, I am not sure that is a good idea. I-"
"Think about Aziel, Danica. You came here just for him, so you can do this for him at least."
She wanted more time to think about the offer Troy just laid out on the table. Accepting the offer meant that she would meet all of her old friends, whom she abandoned without an explanation. Unfortunately, the offer seemed really good. She knew the opportunity would make Aziel the happiest he has ever been, and nothing else mattered more to her than that.
"Fine," she started, "but under one condition."
Troy was excited to hear Danica agree. She would be living in the same house as him, which meant she would be close to him all the time-his biggest dream was potentially going to come true and he was as excited as a kid in a candy store. "What is it?"
Danica answered with full determination, "I will be paying the rent for as many days as we stay."
"Sure," he agreed at once. He was well aware of how stubborn Danica was, and even he could not change her decision. "You can move in tomorrow. I will pick you up from your house."
She forced a smile on her face and placed her hand over his on the table. "Thank you so much for helping me out, Troy." He seemed as though he did not believe her. "I mean it, really."
As much as he wished to pull his hand away, he missed her touch. Her hand was still cold as always, yet it made an effect on his heart that had been missing for way too long. So he remained still and gave a slight smile, showing his dimples.
They had no idea that a fan of Troy's videos was clicking pictures of Troy and Danica as they were holding hands and looking at each other with a smile spread across their faces.
Chapter 3 Kiss...On-Screen?
Up until going to the café that morning, Danica's biggest headache was to unpack her clothes in her new house. But she was grateful that she did not take the time to settle in too much, because now she would not have to repack before moving into the Rose mansion.
"Dani, where are we going? Are we going back? What about my birthday wish?" Aziel had no idea what was going on. As much as Danica wanted to tell him the truth, she wanted it to be a huge surprise for him.
"Can you keep quiet for once and help me with this luggage?" retorted Danica, to which Aziel stuck out his tongue and ran outside, leaving her alone with the stuff near the hall. She huffed. "This kid."
"That boy came to the cafe after a long time, you know? It felt nice seeing both of you together once again," commented Stacy, who was standing behind her. "His idea wasn't totally thought out, but it got the job done, right?" She chuckled lightly. "He solved your issue within a few minutes. Living in a house full of celebrities-that is like a dream come true. That paired with hot celebrities, it's a win-win for everyone involved." Stacy winked at Danica.
Danica let out a sigh. "This will be torture," she mumbled under her breath. Living with her crush of nine years under the same roof, what could go wrong?
"Dani!" Aziel called out, which made Danica alert in an instant.
Hoping that her brother was fine, Danica dashed out with Stacy following her. "Aziel, are you okay?" she inquired and looked at Aziel. He had a big grin on his face.
"Dani, look. My favorite guy from the videos, Hernan Matias, is standing on our doorstep. I cannot believe he is here," he squealed, glancing at the tall blonde guy with his shades on.
Danica didn't follow his regular videos, but Aziel would watch those all the time. He was a big fan of Hernan.
"Good afternoon, Hazel. Did you miss me?" Hernan winked at her, taking steps towards Aziel at first. Once reaching him, Hernan took off his shades and bent down to Aziel's height. He gave a big smile and ruffled Aziel's hair, asking, "How are you doing, Aziel?"
"You know my name? How? Do you also know Dani? And why are you here? You wouldn't happen to be my long-lost brother, would you? Or are you here to adopt me? Please do. I'll follow you anywhere." Aziel's enthusiasm made Hernan chuckle.
"Well, something like that. I, along with some other people your sister knows, had been very close since middle school. We basically grew up together. Also, I saw you as a toddler, so you could say I'm like your long-lost brother," responded Hernan, patting his head lightly.
Seeing how Hernan carefully dodged a few questions, Danica was sure that Troy explained everything to him properly. Speaking of Troy, he was supposed to pick them, not Hernan. Maybe he was busy with his shoot, she thought. She would never admit it, but she was actually hoping for him to come.
"Wow! Dani, you never told me that you had such an amazing friend." Aziel put his hands on his hips and questioned, "Who are the 'some more people'? Do you have more famous friends I don't know about?"
"You will know soon," Hernan answered cryptically. "Why don't you sit in the car while I help your sister with the luggage?"
Giggling, Aziel ran towards the car. Hernan chuckled at his eagerness before looking back at Danica. He approached her and cupped her cheeks. "What's up, my hazel? Missed my attention?"
She rolled her eyes before slapping away Hernan's hand. He was back to teasing her like before. Probably, he was too surprised to be his flirty self when he saw her yesterday after such a long time. "Shut up, Blondie. Stacy will really think a chiclet like you is my boyfriend," Danica let out a chortle.
Stacy stifled a laugh. "Oh dear, I remember you guys doing this all the time. My memory isn't that weak."
"And," Hernan spoke up, putting his hands in the pocket of his distressed blue jeans, "Troy will kill me if we date."
"Why would I date a guy, who is not even interested in girls, in the first place?" She narrowed her eyes at him. "Besides, stop dragging Troy into everything." With a huff, she handed him her house keys. "Put my things in the car. They are inside. After getting everything out, hand the keys to Stacy. In the meantime, I will chill out in your car."
Hernan smirked as he watched the girl in an off-shoulder pastel dress getting inside the car. "She is still defending Troy. Some things never change, do they, Stace?"
"Not in their case, at least. You better call me every day because things are about to spice up in their lives," Stacy responded with a big grin plastered on her face.
###
Danica gasped seeing the Rose mansion. She had only ever seen it in the WhyNTube videos. After all, it wasn't owned by her former close friends three years back. Back then, everyone lived with their parents. There was a momentary sadness that she wasn't around during all those times when they started to live on their own in a new place. Yet, there was a profound admiration for them as well-the fact that even after graduating high school, the four of her friends stuck together.
"Wow. Am I still dreaming or what? This is too cool to be true. Dani, pinch me," Aziel let out in awe, poking his sister who just smiled at him. The mansion was huge and beautiful with blue tiles covering the roof. The fountain in front of the entrance gave it a refined look from the outside. The golden painted walls screamed that it was going to be a week filled with thrilling adventures.
"If I pinch you, you will wish I hadn't," she informed him.
He giggled and ran to Hernan. "Can you give me a tour of this mansion right now? It seems familiar. Do you live here? Oh my god, is it the Rose mansion?"
Hernan looked amused at Aziel's over the top antics. He clapped his hands and said, "Fine, let's go for a house tour. I will answer all of your questions on the way." He grabbed Aziel's small hand and glanced at Danica who was still standing on the porch. "Hazel, why don't you go inside and meet Troy first? He must be waiting for your arrival."
"F-shut up, Blondie." With that, she walked inside. Danica couldn't curse in front of a kid after all.
As soon as she stepped in, she immediately knew it was the familiar living room, where Troy had shot most of his vlogs. The cameras were strategically placed in every direction, and Troy was recording something, wearing his mustard-colored merch which had the label 'Stones Forever.' He is busy shooting his video, that's why he couldn't pick us up and sent Hernan, she assured herself.
"Hey, Stones. Welcome back to Troy's Reels. Today, I am going live since it's been decades since I made a live post. No, actually just three months, so don't come to kill me just yet," Troy spoke to the camera, which an unfamiliar man was holding. Danica guessed it was Troy's cameraman. "In today's live video, I will be pranking my twin, who is my annoying sister Gabrielle Kingston. She will walk by the living room within a few minutes with her boyfriend, Trevor Bennett, and all hell is about to break loose."
A small smile formed on Danica's face at the mention of Gabrielle. She was dying to congratulate her closest friend for finally being able to confess her feelings to Trevor. She was ecstatic to see the trending topic two years ago when news broke that they were together and glad that her ship had sailed. After all, she shipped those two of her best friends ever since high school. But soon she gasped hearing that Troy would prank Gabrielle. She was well aware that Troy's pranks were always dangerous, especially for a celebrity figure like Gabrielle, who had had shootings every day. Little did she know he actually had something really horrible planned for his sister.
Hearing the gasp, Troy turned to look at Danica and winked at her playfully. She looked around a few times only to realize she was the only one standing in that place, near Troy. Her breath hitched realizing that her old crush had just winked at her. To prevent any words from escaping her mouth, she bit her lips.
She stood there like a statue, waiting for Gabrielle to come, also trying not to stare at Troy who had gotten way more handsome over the years.
Meanwhile, Hernan was enjoying the little kid's company. He showed Aziel around the house and promised to shoot a vlog with him. After the mansion tour, Hernan entered through the front door along with Aziel. He smirked seeing the time on his wristwatch; it was 4 o'clock, which meant it was time to see Gabrielle getting pranked and he would love to have Aziel watch it too. After all, he would get to witness a live prank between celebrities.
Everyone jumped into action as soon as they heard the sharp clicking of heels coming from the main hallway, indicating the arrival of Gabrielle. Gabrielle and Trevor walked into the living room, hand-in-hand, making their way towards the main door. As Trevor's eyes were wandering around in boredom, he caught one of Troy's men standing on the second floor with a bucket in his hand. He also noticed the surrounding cameras, especially the cameraman standing near Danica and Troy. He immediately understood what was going to happen.
On the other hand, Gabrielle was busy talking on the phone, so she failed to notice any of the traps and Danica. "Yes, I'm heading out right now," mumbled Gabrielle, as she continued walking straight ahead, unwittingly about to fall into her twin's trap.
Knowing he would have to teleport in order to stop Gabrielle in time, he let go of her hand and took large steps towards Danica behind Troy's back. He couldn't let whatever the bucket contained fall on his girlfriend's perfectly styled hair, especially when she had to go to shoot within an hour-he would hate to see her suffer. Without a doubt, he was willing to sacrifice his former best friend for the sake of his beloved girlfriend, so he reached out to Danica and mumbled in a quiet, apologetic voice, "I am sorry for this, Danica."
Danica furrowed her brows. Before she was able to face Trevor who appeared behind her out of nowhere, she was pushed towards Troy. Gabrielle had almost reached Troy, so the man on the second floor poured the liquid out of the bucket.
Danica's chest collided harshly against Troy's at the sudden push, making their lips touch. The pink hair dye from the bucket was now spilled all over Troy and Danica while their lips remained connected to each other. No one was sure why they were so shocked. Was it because they kissed or because they kissed on-screen with almost two million viewers watching the live stream of the famous WhyNTuber, Troy Kingston?
