Getting into Harvard had always been Sophie Macs dream, and having that fulfilled felt like things were finally falling into place, but when Sophie starts to experience difficulty in school due to work and other extra activities which also made her fail the one important subject she knew she wasn't meant to fail, she's left with no other option than to look for a tutor what she isn't ready for is the emotions that comes with it together with the shocking surprise that comes after.

Chapter 1 Feeling Sad

The F with bold red ink stared at me.

I couldn't believe it. I felt my heart crushing, my hopes, everything.

Then I went blank. I didn't feel anything anymore, the fear and shock that had been on me like a parasite sucking me was gone. The cold sweat that had been pouring from me was gone.

The tears that had threatened to spill had also dried. I stared at my result slip once more, wondering what my next plan would be.

My grades weren't so good anymore, and I was certain my parents would be disappointed if they saw it.

I picked up my phone dialing my sister, the only person I felt comfortable with at the moment to still share my result slip with.

She picked at the last ring, just when I had thought she wasn't going to pick and I wasn't going to tell anybody about my script.

"Are you busy?"I asked as soon as I heard her pick up the call.

My elder sister, Cleopatra Macs, a talented architect who had graduated from the University of Harvard with a first class, had gone on to become a good architect and successful artist and was now pursuing her masters. She was always busy, and I would be lucky if she wasn't at this point.

Though at the same time I wouldn't mind, I wasn't sure I wanted her to know anymore.

"I failed my math exam," "the one I had been scared to fail." I didn't know why I felt the need to add that, though I could feel the dread descend upon me once more and could hear the disappointment in her breathing through the phone.

"I see," "Mom and Pops would be mad," "you just have to write it again," "It can be rewritten, right?". She said casually, like I didn't know my parents would be angry.

I hadn't been expecting her response, so I didn't know how to feel and respond to what she had just said.

I hadn't been expecting her to be angry, or maybe I had; I had just ruined the Macs reputation of having good grades only and was expecting a lecture or two, but she hadn't said anything. She hadn't acted shocked or disappointed, except for the slight breath of disappointment when I had first told her my plight.

"I am busy now, sweet girl," "would call you later when I am done.".

"Don't be too hard on yourself," "people fail; you wouldn't be the first." She added before ending the call.

I dropped my phone beside me, falling back on my bed to stare at my star-painted ceiling that I had done myself.

Lifting my hands to my face, I checked the time, standing up as fast as I could.

It was almost time for the lecture, and there was no missing any lecture this semester.

My eye landed on my open laptop, reminding me of the files I still needed to compile and send to Mr. Everest.

This was a contract that had been signed, half payment made, money which I had spent from, so there was no backing out now and no turning down the contract.

I quickly scanned through the files, hoping it would be something I could do with my phone. I wasn't having any course that required me bringing my personal laptop, so I didn't want to stress myself and take it along.

After making sure it was something I could, I quickly transferred it to my phone, grateful I had bought the phone after much contemplation.I was certain my other phone wouldn't have been able to do it, and I would have been left stranded and frustrated. I blew a light kiss to my phone, whispering a silent thank you after the files had been transferred, then I headed out of my lodge.

"I hope today would be a good day, or something good would happen at least," I said silently to myself.

"Stay right where you are." "I am coming to pick you.".

I smiled seeing the message from my boyfriend Leo.

How did he know I was just leaving my apartment? I checked the distance from my apartment to where I was standing, wondering if I should go back or sit on the bench that was calling me to wait for my boyfriend.

His bright reddish orange car pulled right beside me before I could make up my mind.

He stepped out of his vehicle, spotting a reddish orange jacket that complimented his hair colour and matched the car.

"Right where you are, babygirl," giving me a light peck on my lips as he spoke, embracing me at the same time.

I stared at his handsome, cute face, which had a dusting of freckles on it, smiling broadly.

"Come on, stop standing there",

"We would be late for lecture."

I nodded, stepping aside to go to the passenger side of the car, then getting in.

"Why orange?"

"Huh," he asked, turning to face me, turning the volume of the music that blasted through his speaker down.

"Why orange, what's the occasion?" I asked once more, referring to the car and his outfit for the day.

That was Leo; he chose the car he wanted to drive for the day and matched it with his outfit depending on his mood or the occasion for the day.

It wasn't all the time though, and sometimes he went to school looking plain and normal, but as I said, it depended on his mood and occasion.

"Nothing, sweetheart," I missed her, that's all, and I felt I would go with something that matched my hair today." Responding to my question while smiling at me with his perfectly aligned teeth.

"Okay," wondering if I should tell him I was resitting a course but decided against it, resting my head back on the chair, deciding to enjoy the rest of the ride without any conversation.

He had different cars which matched his hair, though not exactly the same shade, not all though, some were just normal colors like black, green and blue but he only drove those when something was wrong.

I didn't bring it up since I wasn't in the mood for a conversation

A light tap on my lap was the indication that we had finally reached. The drive from my apartment to the school wasn't much, but it was still quite a distance, one that had been enough to let me take a little nap.

I wasn't tired or anything; I just happen to love sleeping and fall asleep at every opportunity I get.

Sophia Macs....

Chapter 2 No way

I turned to see who was calling me as soon as I had gotten off from Leo's car. Turning forward to remove my bag from the car when I hadn't seen anybody

Sophia Macs!!.. I heard my name again, this time louder, then felt a hand on my shoulder.

I looked down at the beautiful, elegant manicure fingers that rested on my shoulders. I noticed the light pink with flowers nail polish, turning around to face who I already knew it would be.

"I am shocked to see you on campus grounds today, your royal highness.".

Marcelina Vegas, my best friend and partner in crime, was saying as she wrapped her hands around my shoulders.

I would be stealing her from you now, Leo. Marcellina said, looking in my boyfriend's direction, then winking at him.

I turned around to see his reaction and saw him looking defeated and sorrowful.

He blew me a kiss when he noticed I was looking at him, switched off his car, then followed behind us

"Look who is here, "if it's not King Kai himself, Marcellina said, nodding in his direction.

A few meters from where we were headed stood Kai Ryan, my best friend and confidant, "well," male best friend, considering the fact that Marcellina was my best friend too.

His brown skin shown in the sun, making him look ethereal; his dark black wasn't left out of the sun's glory.

It seemed like he had done something to his hair because they were looking curlier than normal.

He was resting his perfectly sculpted form on the stair railing; he wasn't buff with too many muscles, nor was he overly lean.

He stood up from the position he was in, standing in all his tall glory.

"I know I am not meant to be talking about my best friend like that, but I couldn't help it that he was good-looking, and praising a good-looking person was something I could never resist.

He gave Maercellina a bright smile, then proceeded to scowl at me.

I rolled my eyes, lifting my middle finger at him, then also scowling at him.

He stood there for some minutes wondering if he should cover the distance or wait for us to catch up with him.

He finally made up his mind, covering the distance and engulfing both of us in a tight embrace, pecking us lightly on the head, then proceeded to greet Leo, who I hadn't realized was still following behind us.and I felt bad instantly. I had been so focused on Marcellina that I had forgotten about him

"She made you late, right?", I could hear him asking Leo

I turned to respond to him, but felt a push at my back, making me give up the idea.

I knew who had pushed me, but I wasn't ready to start an argument or play fight; besides, we were already late for lecture.

"I am going to miss you." I said, turning to face Leo and giving him a huge when we had finally reached our lecture hall and it was time to part ways.

Leo didn't have classes with me; he was actually a year further, and the thought of not seeing him for the remaining hours made me really sad.

"Off you go now, sweetheart; I wouldn't want you getting into trouble for disturbing the class with your late attendance." Leo said, pecking me lightly on the head, then shoving me forward.

"I love you," he mouthed, proceeding to face my best friends, "take care of her for me, would you? waving at them, then disappearing into a corner

"That's enough sulking for today," Kai whispered into my ears while pulling me into the lecture room.

The hall was full, and we were certain we were not going to get any space. After searching for an empty seat for hours and the lecturer getting pissed at us, we finally decided to sit at the only available space left, which was in the front.

"Couldn't my day get any worse?" I mumbled to myself while taking a seat on the right-hand side of Kai.

"What did you say?".

"Nothing," I replied Kai, trying hard to catch up on what the lecturer had taught earlier.

The lecture lasted for approximately two hours, and in all of the two hours of what had been taught, I had understood just 30 seconds from the class.

I groaned, feeling tears pull at the back of my eyes. I couldn't afford to fail this course too. And I still didn't know who was going to tutor me on the one I had failed.

My mind went briefly to Ivan Petrov. My overly tall, shy-looking but dangerous friend, who was also an eye candy and had girls who flocked him all the time. He had had a thing for my best friend Marcellina; they had dated for a while but decided they were better off being friends.

I scanned the hall for him, checking if he had come for lectures, concluding he hadn't when I didn't see him.

The scrapping of chairs and zipping of bags showed the lecture had ended for the day. I glanced towards Kai, wondering where everybody was off to. I was certain we had another lecture for the day.

"Are you planning to sleep here, Sophia?" he asked when he noticed I wasn't making an effort to get up.

"We have another class now, don't we?"getting confused and wondering if I had gotten the time table wrong.

"It's been cancelled," he replied, pulling me from my seat.

I took my time putting my notes that I hadn't written much into my bag, getting distracted by the numerous people that had come to say hi while doing the little task of putting my notes in my bag.

"Look who is popular," I heard Kai whisper into my ears. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head as well.

This was something he always said when the rest of my friends, whom I could only see in class, came to greet me.

I wasn't popular or anything, but I spoke to a lot of people, and I always made sure to say hi and make conversations whenever I saw them, but since I hadn't been able to do that today, they had decided to do it instead.

Miss Sophia Macs!!

The sound of my name made everybody stop what they had been doing and the once noisy hall became silent.

Is Miss Sophia Macs here?. If she is, can she indicate?

I felt a hundred eyes on me and my heart pounding and promising to burst.

Why was my math teacher calling my name?

Was he planning to tell the class that I had failed his last semester course? I knew I was exaggerating, and there was no way he would do that.

I could feel my hands shaking and my palm getting clammy as I raised my hand to indicate that I was the bearer of the name.

I was certain I would pass out as my eyes locked with the stone cold eyes of my teacher.

"Follow me to my office."

Mr. Forrest Kyrios said, turning to leave the class, his face emotionless and void of the smile that had been there when he had been teaching earlier.

I could hear the whispers of my course mates asking what I had done as I said my goodbyes to my friends and headed to his office.

Chapter 3 In his office

"Have a seat", Mr Kyrios said, signalling to the seat facing him directly.

I looked around, making sure there was no one in the office with us.

Even if they had been, there was nothing I would have done about it.

"Look at me", Mr Kyrios ordered, sending shivers down my spine.

I hadn't known his voice was this smooth and seductive.

I kicked myself mentally, reminding myself of why i was seated in that office and that I had a boyfriend so thinking other men voice as seductive was a crime.

"Look at me", he ordered again, when i had made no effort to raise my head from the position it was in.

I noticed the change in his tone and I knew I was getting him more angry.

Lifting my head slowly, I looked at him. A tiny gasp escaping from my lips.

I knew he had beautiful eyes but from up close it felt different.

His dark grey eyes with tiny flecks of green stared at me.

He lifted his perfect mouth into a tiny smile when he heard me gasp and noticed I was staring at those gorgeous eyes.

I kicked myself again, this time both mentally and physically.

I wasn't meant to be admiring this man.

First off he was my math lecturer.

Secondly, I had an hot as hell boyfriend.

Just immediately, I felt my phone vibrate in my bag, and without thinking. I brought it out to check who had texted.

And just as I thought it was Leo.

I chuckled seeing his message and then sending a reply text.

A text from Kai and Marcellina was also blinking at me from my screen. I was about to click on it when I heard the clearing of throat from Mr Kyrios.

I knew I had fucked up big time, how could I have forgotten about him.

"Miss Sophia, you know very well what you have just done is not only disrespectful but also disregarding and you could get punished for it".

"I remember asking you to look at me". He added.

I placed my phone back in my brown leather bag, turning to face him once more, wondering what was wrong with him and how he expected me to focus on what he had to say, when he looked like he was.

"You know why you are seated here right?", he asked further when he was certain he had my full attention.

I looked at him gulping, "Yes Sir", "I do"

"Mr Kyrios"

"Pardon"

Respond with "Yes Mr Kyrios", "Miss Sophia", he answered me, looking me in the eye, then bending down to retrieve something from his desk.

"The reason you are here Miss Sophia", "Is because you failed".

"Not only did you fail", "You failed with a very low score of fourteen". He said, finally dropping what he had bent to receive.

Right on the table in between both of us sat my exam paper with the exam score written boldly.

"Can you explain why this happened Miss Sophia?", My Kyrios continued.

"What is the problem Miss Sophia", "Do I not teach well enough." He asked raising his head to stare into my eyes with those sexy eyes of him, only that this time I didn't think it was sexy because I was more concentrated on my exam score.

"I don't understand what you teach half of the time", I heard myself say, my voice coming out as really small and panicky

"Then why don't you ask questions", he asked, his face relaxing a bit.

"Because...", I started, "I don't know", ending what I had to say.

"Talk to me", "I am here to help".

"I am scared most of the time to ask questions in class", I breathed out, watching Mr Kyrios face,

"Why", "You don't come off as someone shy".

"I am not", "I just don't know how you will respond to my question", "besides nobody has ever asked anything in class".

"I didn't want to be the first".

"You were late today, care to explain the reason why?"He asked, changing the topic from my failed course.

"And did you understand anything today Sophia?"

"No", "I am sorry Mr Kyrios", "for being late and for not paying attention in class".

I replied to him lowering my head.

"I will help you Sophia," "I will tutor you personally for both the course you failed and this one you are having now."

"And if by the end of the session you still don't get an A, "I will quit my job".

I raised up my head, shock evident on my face. Mr Kyrios was offering to teach me himself, that was beyond shocking.

The part where he said he was going to quit his job was going to be an extra motivation.

There was no way I was going to be the reason to not see this handsome Man's face again.

There was no way I would take away a man as sexy as he was from the grounds of Harvard.

People were going to hate me for sure.

Male and Female alike,. only that they wouldn't know why he had quit.

"Thank you Sir"

"Thank You so much sir"

I said when I could finally find my voice.

I really appreciate, I said again, bowing my head as i repeated the thanks.

This man has just saved me a lot of stress and worry, and I was certain that having him teach me personally would help me a lot.

"Hand your phone to me Miss Sophia." Mr Kyrios said breaking into my thoughts.

'What did he need my phone for", "I thought as I handed it over to him.

He handed me my phone after a while.

"I will text you", he said, then telling me I was free to go.

"What was that about"

"I didn't know Mr Kyrios was your sugar daddy.

Marcellina and Kai said together.

I looked at Kai, staring daggers at him. "He is not my sugar daddy, and I do not have one." I replied him then adding a tiny hiss.

"I will tell you later," I said facing Marcellina.

I still needed time to process what had happened and to decide if I wanted to tell them I had failed a course.

I know, best friend and all, but I wasn't sure I was comfortable sharing that with them yet.

I didn't know what their reaction would be.

I breathed out once more, glad I wouldn't have to be meeting Ivan Petrov. There was no way he would have agreed to tutor me without knowing the full story, and like I said, I wasn't sure I was ready to let them know.
