Falling for Alpha

Quinn's POV

"Quinn,what do you think you are doing, sleeping! ? " the look on Sabrina's eyes showed sign of pity, at least that was what she wanted me to think as she stared down at my lifeless body , one she had condemned to starvation and slavery.

" Where.... where am I? " I asked, trying to avoid eye contact with her, " Oh my God Quinn, I have been calling for you for the past thirty minutes.

``There was a slight tone of mockery in her voice . " What!, thirty minutes?.. how can I just pass out just like that? " , thirty minutes was a whole lot of time for me, it was almost time for dinner and if I don't get finished with vacuuming the rooms on the third and fourth floor, then I can as well kiss today's meal goodbye just like the previous day.

" Sometimes I wonder what's your worth in this mansion if you can't do some basic cleaning " coming from the person who had never laid her hands on a broom.

"See, I'm doing my best for you since I consider you as a friend but if you don't finish today's work there's no food for you " she said even when she had reminded me a lot of timestimes.

Sometimes I couldn't help but wonder if she gets a kind of feeling of satisfaction whenever she says that to me.

" I'm sorry but I would like to be left alone " I immediately told her my mind because only God knew what I would have done if she had stayed there any longer .

" Not without taking a picture and sending it to the college group ".

This was my life, a life as a slave to one of the most well known packs in the country , the silver pack and Sabrina as the only daughter to the alpha of the pack, what a lucky girl.

" Please can you not do this to me, I will be the laughing stock of the school " , I knew why she was doing this, she saw me as a competition ever since we met Jacob, she had always find ways to embarrass me so Jacob could see my flaws .

" I have told you times without number, I don't have anything to do with Jacob, I am not even friends with him " I remembered the last conversation I had with her about Jacob "you can deceive everyone else but certainly not me " she said " you can ask him yourself " and that was the last time we talked of Jacob but who knew she still had that thought to herself .

It was true, I wasn't friends with Jacob even before Sabrina had started stalking him, I only talked to him or would I say bow to him as a guest whenever he visited Mr Gabriel, Sabrina's father who was also the alpha male .

" Don't make me feel bad Quinn, I am only doing this for you so when Jacob sees you dressed like this, he won't be surprised " ,maybe someone needed to remind her that Jacob had seen me in clothes that even beggars would call rags .

" I thought we were bestfriends ,so why do this to me ? " I cried in pain, I had a reputation to manage, if she post that video, my lonely life as the girl who eats alone would be over.

" Of course we are, have I ever said otherwise? " she asked

" Wh... . . "

"Good evening madam Sabrina, sorry to interrupt but there is something I must tell you " my foster father said, there was no words to explain how happy I was that he had interrupted the moment.

" What is it, old man?".

She didn't even care that I was in her presence as she rudely said those words to him but knowing my father , he cared less about whatever she said.

" I would like to inform you that Sir Jacob is here to visit the alpha " .

Those words were enough for her to rush to the living room where he was waiting.

" Do you realize the trouble you just saved me from? " I said to my father, " why do you think I came here?, clearly Sabrina had no business with Sir Jacob's visit but I had to make her leave you alone " .

This was one of the reasons I loved this man, although he wasn't my real father but he had a long time ago filled that position, he had even went to the extent of pleading with the alpha male to deduct from his salary so I could be sent to the same school as Sabrina.

"Grhh" my ravaging stomach called for our attention,

"you know the rule of the house, no work no food, so please hurry up " this was a rule set up by Sabrina that even my father can't mess with but the only difference was that I was given chores that were too much for a human to talkless for a twenty year old lady.

" But father, there is no way I can finish the chores before dinner, that means I will have to go hungry for two conservatives days " I said for my father to look at me with pity before looking at both left and right as if trying to check if anyone was coming.

" The alpha and the rest of the pack would be very busy with an event tonight, just get done with the hallway and tomorrow you can finish with the rooms " , immediately he said those words,a weird feeling of happiness started gushing into me since I had lost hope of ever tasting anything that evening but I needed to be sure so I won't draw problems for my father and I.

" How did you know that? " I asked " Sir Jacob told me " , if there was one thing I knew about Jacob, he was a talkative making me wonder what Sabrina must had seen in him

" but what if.... . .. ``

'' don't think about it, based on what I learnt, the event is very important and no member of the pack would dare miss unless he or she is seeking their death wish", which made me thinking what must had happened for an event like this to occur since it was very rare for the pack to call for a mandatory meeting.

"Enough of the talks about the pack, what's really going on between you and Jacob? ".

I knew this question was going to come sooner or later " father you know there is nothing going on between Jacob and I, we don't even talk even when we run into each other in school so why are you guys saying I have something to do with Jacob? " I asked "are you sure about that because that's not what I heard ``.

"Whatever you heard is a lie , what makes you think I would be attracted to a man who talks too much and wouldn't lower himself to talk to me? " ,at that moment I felt like killing anybody who would join the names Jacob and Quinn in the same sentence.

"That's what you should have said, you like Jacob but you are afraid that he wouldn't return the feeling because of your background " father said, it was supposed to be the other way around, I can't recall the number of times I have caught Jacob staring at me but due to my non caring attitude, I waved it. "

Can you not mention Jacob's name again so I can finish my chores ? " I said for my father to look at me in mischief, for an old man, he certainly does talk dirty.

" I understand, Jacob's name can be distracting especially to you but if you finish fast you could talk to him " there was no way I was going to do that, our conversation shouldn't pass ' good day sir ' . " I also saw the way you reacted the moment I said Jacob was here , you don't have to worry, he came for the alpha and not Sa.... " before he could complete his sentence, the look on my face immediately shut him up and he left.

" Me and Jacob?, that's impossible, I'd rather stay single forever," I murmured to myself.... .

" Oh really, did my father say that ? '' that sweet voice could deceive anyone who had never met the wolf behind the sheep's clothing .

" Yes he did, please don't take this to the extreme, I will just be your escort to the great Alphas gathering" I heard Jacob say. ' what!, another alpha gathering? ' I asked myself, ignoring the cry for attention from my stomach.

" What do you mean by that Jacob, if I didn't know better I would have taken that as an insult "

She was the one that had insulted herself, it was very clear that she had told her father to order Jacob into being her escort and knowing the law of the pack, there was no way he would say no to an alpha.

" Don't put words in my mouth Sabrina , I only said that because this isn't the first gathering I had escorted you to and we both know what you did in every one of those gatherings. You need to stop telling people that we are mates, you know that will never be possible "

Jacob really made it sink into her and I was a witness to what Jacob said since I was always present whenever she made such pronouncement .

'' Is it because of Quinn, you know she can never be a mate to you, father won't allow that ".

I wasn't even surprised that my name was mentioned, infact if she hadn't said my name I would have thought something was wrong .

" Don't be ridiculous Sabrina, what makes you think I want her as a mate?" even a stupid person would know he didn't mean what he said with the way he was stammering.

" You think I haven't noticed the way you stare at her and have that smirk on your face whenever we talk about her just like the one that is currently on your face " she yelled, I had to peep a little to see if what Sabrina said was true and yes! , I saw Jacob grinning like an idiot.

I couldn't take it anymore so without much care, I walked past them as they both stared at me with one of them having the looks of desire and the other , hatred . " I don't care if you like her or not but if you can't be with me, then you can't be with anyone " she said.

" Ok I admit, I like her and would love her to be my mate but I also want you to admit that you don't have any feelings for me and the only reason why you are after me is because you don't want to see Quinn happy with someone " .

Sabrina fell quiet for a while, what Jacob said wasn't far from the truth, the only reason why she was even after Jacob was because he was interested in me. For someone like her, she was supposed to attracted to alphas from other packs but here she was chasing her father's beta, someone that would never love her.

" Say whatever you want to say, she can't be yours and both of you are escorting me tomorrow" she said and angrily left the presence of the man who was filled with happiness that he was going to get close to me the next day .

Meanwhile in the kitchen,

" What do you mean Sabrina said you shouldn't serve me food? " I asked the cook who had just explained that Sabrina instrusted I should eat the left over food and not newly prepared one.

" I'm sorry Quinn but that's what madam Sabrina said " .

Sigh, there was nothing I could do other than eat the remains from other people's plates,when have you heard a slave has ever had a choice. I gathered all the dirty dishes and ate whatever I saw.

"Quinn get ready, you are escorting me to the alpha gathering tomorrow", I really felt embarrassed as Sabrina caught me scraping every single grain of food left.

" Ok " I replied.

" The next day came really fast, the first thing that came to my mind was to finish vacuuming the rooms before Sabrina noticed, so I got that dealt with. '' Take wear this dress it's for the event ,as my escort I don't want you dressing like a pig ", I looked at the dress she had handed to me, it was old ,white in colour , had hand-made designs, beautiful but the only thing wrong was that, it certainly does not look my size.

'' Don't you think that this dress is a little bit small considering the fact I am quite bigger than you? " .

I knew I shouldn't be saying this since I wouldn't be wearing rags in public but there was no way this dress would size me.

"Have I ever told you how much of an ingrate you are, out of my will I gave you a beautiful dress but you call it small but anyway you must wear it " she said and left leaving no room for disagreement.

I finished the chores for that day right in time for the alpha gathering. I wore the dress Sabrina gave me, although it was tight, I was sure I still looked good in it.

" Quinn how long is it going to take you to prepare, who do you think you are trying to delay me " I heard Sabrina scream from downstairs and it wasn't even time, we still had at two hours before the event starts.

" Can you stop screaming, we are still early and what about your pack, when will they arrive? "Jacob said.

'' I want you to know your place Jacob, being my father's beta doesn't give you the right to talk to me as you want " for the very first time Jacob made her angry but that was his initial plan, to always make her angry so she could hate him and if possible leave him alone.

" Woah " I heard Jacob say as they both stared at me coming down from the stairs .

' what's wrong ' I thought .

The looks on Sabrina's eyes could kill anyone as it was directed to me but I didn't do anything wrong, I simply wore the dress she gave me and nothing more. " I don't want you wearing that dress, can you take it off " .

What she said really took Jacob and I by surprise, " she is not removing any dress, we are already late for the gathering, right Sabrina? " Jacob used her own words against her as he stared at me with lustful eyes.

' I wish this ground would open and swallow me ' I said inwardly.

'' Sir please I don't want any trouble with Sabrina, I would like to take it off "

Jacob won't be in the house forever and when he leaves, Sabrina would surely make me pay if I wore that dress. I saw Jacob whisper something to Sabrina before she sighed, '' fine, you can wear it " she said and stormed out of the mansion.

" You look so beautiful ,milady" these were the first words that came out from Jacob, " Thank you sir " I said, " you don't need to call me sir, I am only two years older than you, right? "

" If you would excuse me sir, Sabrina is waiting for me " I said and walked past him. "What did he say to you, you know we are friends so you can tell me ?" Sabrina said with the sweetest voice I have ever heard .

"I told her that she was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, is anything wrong with that? '' we both heard Jacob , ' this boy would certainly be the end of me ' I said inwardly but what surprised me was Sabrina, she didn't look angry instead she had this fake smile on her face.

" Whatever, can we get going " Sabrina said. We used Mr Gabriel limousine for the ride but that didn't change the fact that Jacob was invading into my breathing space, " Sir, please I feel very uncomfortable with you being this close to me " that was when I was finally given the chance to breathe well.

" Ehm Quinn, the door! ''

Although this was not part of my work as a maid, she made it compulsory for me to open the car door for any event we attend. " Next time don't let me remind you " Sabrina said the moment her feet kissed the ground .

" Who are you? "

I heard her say to someone behind me, I looked back and was amazed by what I saw but what he said next shocked everyone including Jacob.

" My lovely mate, who burnt your hands? "....

Sebastian POV

" I said I don't want a mate, is that too much to ask of? " I roared at Stan, my beta. He has been on my neck to get a mate claiming it would bring the pack back to its rightful glory.

" You know I can't force you to do what you don't want but I have to take an exception as there is no other way to prevent future losses unless you marry the daughter of the silver pack" , this had been the anthem Stan had been singing to my ears after the war between my pack and the Silver pack.

"who do you think I am,a weakling? "

" I dare not say that my Lord but if you decide to continue with the war, what do you think would happen to the remaining members of the pack? ", this was what bothered me, my pack was my priority and as a future alpha, I must try as much as possible to prevent trouble for the pack.

"I have told you to take the rest into hiding and when it's all over, you can cowardly resurface " I said, " you know that's not possible, our families will be used as bait to lure us out" .

Stan seemed to have an excuse for everything I said so I gave up, " Oh Stan, why are you so impossible?. Let's get this over with, when do I see the lady? " I asked, the earlier I marry her, the better.

" She would be attending the alpha gathering, there you would see her "Stan said

' That would be in two days' I thought . " Just to make myself clear, I want you to inform Gabriel that I don't want any trouble from his side and he shouldn't expect me to show love to his daughter"

They needed to know so future cases like 'he doesn't treat me like a mate' won't occur.

" I will get that done, '' Stan said and left. " Gabriel, I know this is your plan to invade my territory, let's see about that, '' I murmured.

He created this war so he could use his daughter as a deal to end it, but I was going to show him that it was the biggest mistake he had ever made.

" What are you doing here? '' If there was anything I hated, it was my father, the alpha.

"Can't I visit my son anymore? ", hearing him call me his son made me feel irritated, he was no father to me, a man who locks his son in a dark room with little or no food doesn't deserve the title 'father '.

" No you can't, isn't it enough I agreed to become your heir, why can't you leave me alone? " I asked, " you can reject me all you want but your wolf and mine are bounded and there is nothing anyone can do about it ".

This was one of the disadvantages of being in the alpha bloodline, each descendant of the alphas has their wolves connected.

" My wolf is still young, that gives me more time to control it when it starts calling for you " I said. " No one told me you were this funny, there's no way to control your wolf but it controls you but anyways good luck with that''.

`` What are you really here for because I am very certain it was not to lecture me about my wolf " I went straight to business.

" Have you accepted Gabriel's daughter as your mate? "

These words immediately angered me,, this was not even my duty, he was the alpha and should be the one to mate Gabriel's daughter after all a wolf can re-mate if the initial mate was dead.

'' What choice do I have since you have refused to do your duty as the alpha male " I said to him. " You know, one day I won't be here, how would you solve problems like this if I kept interfering? ", this was another way to say he was scared of Gabriel.

'' Yes I have, can you leave now? " I said, '' don't take my kindness for granted, you dare not talk to your alpha in such a manner, if you weren't my blood then I would have ripped you apart ".

There was no way that would be possible especially with the fact I was way stronger than he is, he seemed to have forgotten old age has caught up with him. " I'm sorry my alpha but can you leave? " I sarcastically said, '' I will leave but I can't wait for the day your wolf will be drawn to me " he said and left.

" What was your father doing here? ", was it too much to ask for a quiet moment? 'I asked myself, immediately father left, Olivia my best friend came saying.

" it's nothing important, it's just pack issue " I said for her to show signs of concern. "Is there anything I should know about the pack so I can tell the rest? '' she asked.

This was one of the reasons why I don't share secrets with her even when I call her 'best friend'. She tries her best to spread anything she hears.How would I have told her that I was getting married especially with the fact that she secretly fancies me but dare not say that to the heir to the pack. " Don't get yourself thinking about it, if it was important I would have told you ".

'' So about the alpha gathering, can you take me with you? "

She quickly changed the topic since she noticed I was getting irritated with her question, "of course I will, what are friends for but I want you to take a low profile so as not to draw attention to yourself " I said for her nod. She tried to prolong our conversation by bringing up unnecessary topics , " enough of the talking, you should get going, the world isn't a safe place for a she wolf like you ", we have been chatting for the past three hours and if I don't cut it short, I don't think we would have stopped any time soon.

" Yeah , you are right I need to get going before my father raises an alarm " , she asked for a hug before leaving.

" My Lord, your ride is ready with Olivia waiting for you " Stan said, it was time for the alpha gathering which was supposed to be attended by my father, the rightful alpha.

" I will be down soon, please apologize to Olivia for my delay " I said

'' Ok " Stan said and left.

I looked at myself in the mirror before stepping outside, I needed to represent the red moon pack well since strong and matured alphas would be at attendance.

"What took you so long? " Olivia asked as she saw me, " I needed to get some finishing touches done " I said for her to roll her eyes. " It's alright let's go " she held me by the hand and dragged me into the car.

For someone as jovial as Olivia, the journey was unusually silent but as the kind of person I was, I also didn't say anything. "Sir, we are here, " the driver said.

Sigh, this was it, the event that happens once every five years and the event where I was going to see my bride.

"Ahhh" I heard a lady scream, I looked at the direction of the source and was dumbstruck with what I saw, if there was anything as love at first sight then this was it .

'Why am I so drawn to this girl, she isn't even a wolf ' I said inwardly. " Next time , don't let me remind you " I heard her mistress say, seeing the way she purposely pressed the burnt hand angered me. I had a strong feeling of protection over her, a girl I was seeing for the first time.

"Sebastian, what are you staring at? " Olivia words snapped me out of my fantasy, " Go inside I will be back " I said to her before heading to where my future queen was.

" Who are you?" I heard her mistress say but I chose to ignore her. I held the lady's hand and said the words that even shocked me.

" My lovely mate, what happened to your hands "

" I'm sorry sir, but you got the wrong person " she said, of course I wasn't expecting her to jump into my arms.

"Se... Sebastian "

It was then I noticed the beta to the Gabriel, " Jacob what a pleasure to see you " I said but it was then that realization dawn into me,if Jacob was with my queen's mistress then she was the one I was asked to marry, no way especially when I have seen my love.

Meanwhile, Olivia heard and saw everything I had said, making her storm the hall with anger.
