Chapter 1

"Lisa, let's run faster!" Sean yelled as he continued to run, occasionally looking back to make sure his sister was running behind him and not falling behind.

Their breathing sounded heavy and labored, sweat-drenched all over their bodies, arms, and legs injured by the thorns of plants in the forest. The exhaustion was palpable, and both of their knees ached as they had been running non-stop in the dark and lonely forest.

"Sean, wait. I can't run anymore," Lisa said while trying to catch her breath.

"Well, let's rest for a while, then we'll get back to run because they'll chase us here," Sean replied as he asked Lisa to sit under a tree and he sat next to his sister.

"I'm sorry I got you involved in this," Lisa said sadly.

"You don't need to apologize. Didn't we promise mom to take care of each other? The most important thing is that we get out of this forest," Sean said.

"Thank you, Sean. I think I feel stronger already. Let's get back to running," Lisa said.

"Let's just walk fast to save energy. But the problem is, where do we go?" They both looked around the forest, trying to find help, but to no avail. They were in the middle of the forest and caught in a battle between the two strongest packs in the city, the Black Skull Pack and the Blood Moon Pack.

It was a full moon night, and there were wolf howls everywhere. The howls echoed throughout the forest, making anyone's guts shrink. Worse, Lisa and Sean didn't know where they should escape from the wolves.

Their bodies were too tired, but inevitably, they had to find shelter. The night was getting late and there was no light in the distance, only a row of tall trees towering into the sky and a thin fog that was enough to block the eyes.

So they walked back through the dark and uninhabited forest. They could hear only the sounds of night animals echoing in their ears. Both of them felt terrified, especially since they had just seen a large group of creatures that they had never seen before.

Two groups of creatures were like dogs, except that they were larger, with sharp fangs and terrifying eyes, plus their howls made the hairs stand up.

After a long time of walking, they went deeper into the forest, where the moonlight only illuminated a small part of the forest. Thorny plants and steep paths had to be traversed by them. Often, the skin of their hands and feet was cut by the sharp thorns of the plants.

As far as the eye could see, not a single person was passing by, and there was no light entering the forest. This made them even more afraid and worried. Would they be lost forever in the forest? Would they be eaten to death by wolves?

They regretted that their curiosity had gotten them stuck in the middle of the forest at night with no supplies. While enduring the cold, they continued to walk while hoping to find a house that they could use as a place to rest.

"Sean, how is this? How long do we have to keep going?" Lisa asked, holding back tears.

"I don't know, but we can't stop walking," Sean replied as he looked at his sister's face.

However, misfortune did not stop there. In the distance, a wolf was running towards them at full speed. As the two watched the battle between the two strongest packs, a werewolf picked their scent up, and now he was chasing them for attacking and devouring them.

On the way, they saw a horrifying sight, a human body divided into several parts in a terrible condition. Thick red blood flowed over the ground, and the fishy smell was overpowering. Lisa screamed in terror and became very panicked.

To save themselves, Sean pulled Lisa's hand while saying, "Run quickly if we don't want to have the same fate as him."

They ran quickly, crossing enormous tree trunks while trying to sharpen their eyesight, because the thin mist covered the road in front of them. Meanwhile, a werewolf continued to run toward them.

Finally, Lisa and Sean reached the edge of the cliff and were confused by the direction of the forest. Everything looked the same. They looked around, trying to find the werewolf that was chasing them. But, unfortunately, their eyesight was limited, while the werewolf's eyesight was unlimited.

When they were busy looking for a direction to run, a large white werewolf walked slowly towards them while grinning at the intonation of his big, heavy voice saying, "It's time to have fun, guys."

Lisa and Sean hugged each other, with bodies shaking with fear. She cried and begged the werewolf for forgiveness. Because just a few moments ago they had witnessed with their own eyes a human body that was cut into several parts in a very sad condition.

"Let us go, please," Lisa pleaded while crying.

The white wolf didn't answer but continued to walk towards them while baring its sharp fangs and fearsome grin. Its hunting instincts were instantly heightened. Sean resigned himself to the situation and learned to accept that maybe it was their last night together in this world.

"What do we do, Sean? What should we do? It is getting closer."

"Stand behind me, Lisa," Sean pleaded with his sister.

As the distance between the two grew closer, the white wolf looked at its target and dashed toward its prey. However, another werewolf came and lunged at the wolf, and there was a loud cry that said, "Don't attack them, Fred!" And there was a fierce fight between them.

Lisa and Sean watched as two large werewolves attacked each other, biting and clawing. The thud of bodies falling to the ground was audible.

They both hugged each other and hoped that the werewolf who had just arrived had indeed come to help them. However, the werewolf who came to save them had been injured badly. His strength could not keep up with the white wolf's strength.

The white wolf knocked back his opponent's body, which accidentally pushed Lisa's body to the edge of the cliff. The brown wolf and Lisa fell into the abyss of unknown depth. Sean and his sister's handholds were released instantly.

"Sean, help!" Lisa yelled.

"Lisa," Sean yelled frantically, trying to reach Lisa's hand.

Too late, Lisa fell into the ravine and separated from Sean.

Chapter 2

It hurts... my whole body hurts so much. Sean! Hang in there. But why can't I move my body?

Lisa slowly opened her eyes and tried to remember what had happened. Her head was aching and spinning. She was lying on the floor of a cold and dirty house. But why was that? Didn't she fall into the abyss? Was this heaven? While observing the ceiling of the house, she tried to rise to her feet.

"Sean... ouch," she winced in pain.

Then, someone's voice spoke to her, and that person was right beside her.

"You're awake," he said.

Lisa was surprised. She immediately turned her head to look for the source of the voice. In the night's dimness, she saw the figure of a shirtless man leaning against the dirty wall of the house. He seemed to hold his injured arm. Deep red blood stains covered almost his entire left arm.

"Who are you? Where is this? Where's my brother?" Lisa asked in confusion and fear.

"We're at the bottom of a ravine, or rather, we're inside an empty house at the bottom of a ravine. I don't see anyone but you, and as for who I am? I'm just an adventurer, that's all I can tell you," he replied.

"Then why am I in this house? Ouch." Lisa grimaced in pain for the umpteenth time as she tried to move her left arm a few centimeters in the other direction.

"I found you lying unconscious with injuries on your legs and arms. It's fortunate that you don't seem to have a concussion, as I see your head is unharmed and not bleeding," the stranger replied. Lisa had to admit he had impressive abdominal muscles, even in the night's dimness.

"Thanks in advance, but why are you here too?" Lisa asked curiously.

"I fell off the cliff over there, a different fall point from where you were walking down the cliff," he answered.

"Then, did you see a brown wolf that fell with me? Was it hurt too?" Lisa asked curiously.

"Sorry, I didn't see any wolf that fell with you. If I did, it would have run away. I only found you alone."

Lisa thought quite hard because she clearly remembered that her body was pushed down the cliff along with a brown wolf. But why was she the only one found at the bottom of the cliff? Where was the wolf?

"Do you have anything else to ask?" he asked while holding his injured arm.

"Please help me find my brother. Please! A wolf is threatening his life," Lisa pleaded frantically.

"How do we find your brother? While we're trapped in this old house. We just have to wait for reinforcements to arrive." Then he leaned his body against the wall and let out a long sigh.

"What if the wolf eats or hurts him?" Lisa asked frantically.

"The wolf won't eat him. It will only hurt or kill him."

"What! I will not let my brother get killed. And how can you be sure that the wolf won't eat or hurt him? While running in the middle of the forest, we saw a human body divided into several parts, and it was in a terrible condition."

"Then how are you going to help him? You're injured. Get some rest tonight. Tomorrow I'll look for a way out of here."

"Do you think there is a way out of this forest or from inside this ravine?" Lisa asked curiously, her eyes looking at him with an investigating gaze.

"There must be. We just don't know it yet. Oh, we've been talking without knowing each other's names. My name is Scott. What's yours?" he asked. He has beautiful blue eyes.

"My name is Lisa. Umm, is your wound still bleeding?" Lisa asked.

"The bleeding has stopped. It's just that my body still hurts."

"It's the same with my arm and body. It hurts a lot when I move it. How will reinforcements know if someone is trapped under a cliff?" Lisa asked.

"Won't your family members try to find you? They're our only hope. We'd better get some rest to recuperate and gather our strength. Good night, Lisa. If you need anything, wake me up."

"Thank you, Scott. Have a good rest."

Lisa watched him. He fell asleep quickly while one arm held the other injured arm and his breathing sounded heavy. Then, she turned her head and stared at the ceiling of the old house while wondering what would happen to her brother. She hoped for a miracle that would allow Sean to escape the wolf and be out of danger.

Meanwhile, when Lisa fell off the cliff. Sean tried to reach for her hand, but it was too late. She fell into the ravine along with a brown wolf. At that moment, from the front, the white wolf jumped toward him and tried to attack him.

Sean fell to the ground and the white wolf's two front legs held Sean's body lying on the ground, then when the wolf was about to bite him, there were several gunshots from the direction of the forest near the place where Sean was attacked by the white wolf.

The white wolf seemed surprised to hear the gunshots coming from the direction of the forest. It turned its face away and tried to observe the situation behind it. Just then, a large group of police and rescue teams arrived, fully armed and carrying other safety equipment.

They came forward and tried to free Sean from the wolf's grip while firing several bullets into the air, trying to scare the white wolf in front of them. Then, some people brought flaming torches closer to the white wolf to scare it.

All the efforts were successful. Seeing many armed people and flaming torches directed at it made the white wolf scared and kept its feet and sharp nails away from Sean's body lying on the ground. It ran away quickly, leaving them all behind. After the white wolf left, several rescuers immediately approached Sean and helped him stand up and treat his wounds.

Then, from the direction of the forest, a man ran while calling Sean and Lisa's names. Sean turned around and yelled, "Dad, I'm here. Hurry and help Lisa."

After Lisa and Sean's father arrived and stood in front of Sean, breathless and panicked, he asked, "Sean, are you okay? Where's your sister?"

"Dad, she fell into the ravine. Please help her!" Sean pleaded.

He grew increasingly panicked, so he asked the police and other rescuers to help him search for Lisa at the bottom of the ravine. Without waiting long, that night they immediately rushed down the cliff leading to the bottom of the cliff while calling Lisa's name. However, the ravine was so deep and covered in thick fog, the rescuers and police had never been down it. No one knew exactly how deep it was and what was inside.

"Lisa, Lisa," they yelled.

Chapter 3

"Lisa, Lisa," Bruce, Lisa's father, yelled and a group of men comprising police and rescue teams yelled.

They all walked in the night's dimness, sharpening and focusing their vision to find Lisa's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Sean and some police officers waited at the edge of the cliff.

Bruce hoped Lisa was safe and that nothing bad had happened to her. His thoughts and feelings were chaotic. If anything happened to his daughter, he could never forgive himself.

They descended the cliff slowly through a path that one person could only travel using safety equipment. The trail was quite dangerous with the wet ground.

Several men from the rescue team led the way in front of Bruce, and Sheriff Webb and one of his men followed behind. The fog at the bottom of the ravine was thick.

Unyielding, they all continued to walk down the cliff, even though the more they walked towards the bottom of the cliff, the thicker the fog became, and the more it obscured their visibility. Finally, the rescue team leader gave up and called out to all of them, "The fog is too thick, it's too risky. How about continuing the search tomorrow morning when the sun rises?"

Sheriff Webb looked at Bruce and waited for his answer as he said, "His words are true, Bruce. It's too risky, though I know you're anxious about Lisa. But all of our lives are in danger if we continue the search tonight. The decision is yours."

Bruce was silent and answered nothing. He stared into the misty bottom of the ravine. On the one hand, he wanted to find Lisa as soon as possible, but he couldn't act selfishly at the expense of many lives.

"Alright, I agree. Let's go back up and continue the search tomorrow morning," Bruce said.

Then, Sheriff Webb called out to everyone, "Let's go back up and continue the search tomorrow morning when the sun is just beginning to rise."

They all went back up the cliff. That night, the search was called off, and they all returned to the temporary headquarters at the edge of the forest. Bruce walked side by side with Sean. Occasionally, Sean looked back and murmured, "Lisa, please hang in there."

They walked with slow steps while looking straight into the darkness of the forest. Everything felt like a dream that passed quickly. Just a few days ago, Lisa and Sean arrived in Stowe Town and now something terrible had happened to both of them.

Arriving at the temporary headquarters, Sheriff Webb intended to interrogate Sean about what happened to him and Lisa. Then he walked over to Bruce, who was sitting pensively alone in the room's corner. Bruce and Sean sat separately. Then Sheriff Webb sat next to Bruce while touching his shoulder.

"Bruce, how are you doing? I have to interrogate your son. Are you okay?" Sheriff Webb asked.

"I'm worried about Lisa. I'm afraid she won't make it. They entered the forbidden forest, and you know about that too, right?" Bruce replied sadly.

"Yes, I know. Bruce, I promise you, we will find Lisa tomorrow morning. Do you trust me?" Sheriff Webb asked.

"Yes. Do what you have to do, Webb."

Sean, who was sitting on the sofa facing out the window, heard the conversation between his father and Sheriff Webb. He was quite curious about what they said "forbidden forest" was. Sean was sure there was something his father and Sheriff Webb were hiding.

Then Bruce and Sheriff Webb came over to Sean. They sat facing each other. Without waiting long, Sheriff Webb immediately asked a question.

"Sean, tell us what happened?" Sheriff Webb asked curiously.

Bowing his head and looking the other way, Sean said that this afternoon he and his sister had been walking at the edge of the forest with one of their friends named Jessy.

Moments later, Lisa saw a white wolf passing between the trees. Curiosity got Lisa's attention, so she invited Sean and Jessy to enter the forest and follow the white wolf. Although scared and reluctant, they both accompanied Lisa into the forest.

Just a few steps away, Jessy got a call on her cell phone. It turned out that her grandmother asked her to come back immediately and take her to the hospital. Reluctantly, Jessy left them both in the forest. But Jessy promised to come back soon to pick them both up when they returned from the hospital later.

That's when the two of them got separated. Lisa and Sean went further into the forest, while Jessy went back to her grandmother's house. As the sky darkened, Lisa lost track of the white wolf and the two of them got lost in the middle of the forest. Until finally, they heard many very long wolf howls. To be honest, the howls sounded very scary.

Lisa invited her brother to find out where the sound came from. So, they both walked towards the source of the sound, and from behind the trees, they witnessed a fight between two large groups of animals with large size, exceeding the size of a dog, but with fangs and sharp eyes, and a terrible grin.

Lisa and Sean realized they shouldn't be there. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time and lives were at stake. Both of them became panicked and scared. Then, Sean took Lisa and ran away from the place.

As their feet stepped away from the battle arena, a wolf who was near their hiding place realized that there were humans who saw their fight. The wolf looked at and walked towards them.

Lisa and Sean, who knew that they had become the target of a wolf, then ran as fast as possible without looking back. They were so scared that they went further into the forest. Until finally, it pushed them to the edge of the cliff and when the white wolf was about to attack them, a brown wolf came and attacked the white wolf.

But, because of the unequal strength, the brown wolf and Lisa were pushed into the ravine. Meanwhile, Sean didn't know why Jessy didn't come back and pick them up.

"Sean, Jessy was asked to accompany her grandmother into the night. When she dropped her off, I called her and asked where you were. She said that you two went into the forbidden forest. When I heard that, I became panicked and scared, so I called everyone," Bruce said.

"Forbidden forest? We didn't see any sign telling us this was a forbidden forest," Sean replied.

"Why is this forest called a forbidden forest? Jessy didn't tell us anything," Sean asked.
