Author: : Sue Stigler
Genre: Modern
Kolton was forced to marry a disobedient young woman. He didn't like her. "In two years, we must get divorced." Two years rolled by. It was time for them to get divorced. Surprisingly, Kolton refused to let Valentina go. Valentina secretly asked someone to handle the divorce proceedings for her. Kolton got wind of it, and he warned, "Anyone who comes in here won't make it out alive. You must never step foot out of this house. If you do, I'll break your legs!" Valentina felt so helpless and she cried. Kolton pulled her into his arms. "Be good. Just do as I say. We won't divorce. Let's have a baby to keep you company."

Chapter 1 Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

"Hmm..."

The second Valentina Dixon stepped into her room, she heard a man's groan coming from her bed.

Her eyes narrowed suspiciously and she walked over.

She could see someone moving under the quilt.

Perplexed, Valentina threw back the quilt.

The sight that greeted her left her startled. Her eyes went wide in shock.

Kolton Pearson was naked and tied to the bed. A red napkin was stuffed in his mouth and the only item of clothing he wore was a pair of red underwear.

The thick hemp rope accentuated his physique.

Two well-built pecs!

Six-pack abs!

A powerful waist!

There were also the long shapely legs, and...

Gosh! Was she able to watch this treat without spending money?

She was so tempted!

He was handsome and so solidly built. He must have been struggling under the quilt for a while. His entire body was drenched in sweat, making him look wild and sexy.

Valentina's gaze unintentionally swept over Kolton's body, leaving her hot and restless.

"Kolton? What are you doing?" Valentina blurted out, removing the napkin from his mouth.

Almost instantly, Kolton's roar echoed around the room.

"Valentina Dixon. I'm going to kill you!"

Valentina felt like he nearly shattered her eardrum. She quickly shoved the napkin back into his mouth.

Kolton's eyes were bloodshot, and his handsome face blazed red with embarrassment and anger.

He pursed his lips and glowered at her. He thrashed around frantically, wishing he could slice her into pieces with his eyes.

Valentina scowled, and soon it dawned on her.

He had been forced to wait in the bed for her.

Their grandfathers had arranged the marriage between Kolton and her. They had only met recently, and neither of them liked the other.

Their engagement ceremony had been fixed for today. Kolton had run away from home in a fit of rage and hadn't shown up to the ceremony.

She disliked him as well, so she didn't care whether he attended or not.

But Kolton's grandfather was furious and remorseful. He said he had prepared a big gift to make up for the fiasco at the ceremony.

She thought she would get something expensive, but she didn't expect that the old man would arrange for his grandson to be present here.

"Why are you glaring at me? Why did you get captured if you were capable?" she asked.

Kolton pressed his lips tightly and struggled against the rope. He wanted to speak and get rid of the binds.

Valentina continued, "I can remove the napkin from your mouth, but you can't yell anymore. I'm not the one who dragged you back and tied you to my bed."

After giving this warning, she removed the napkin from his mouth.

Kolton inhaled deeply, his chest heaving. "Valentina! Shut your eyes!"

Valentina had already averted her eyes from embarrassment, but when he yelled, her sharp gaze flew to him again.

His attitude rubbed her the wrong way. Who was he to her? How dare he order her?

"I can look at whatever I please. You have no say in it! And right now, I'm going to look at you!"

As Valentina spoke, she looked him up and down.

Kolton was about to explode with rage. "You are so shameless!"

"Shameless? Who is lying in my bed in just their underwear? You are the one seducing me!"

"Seducing you? Dream on!"

"I don't need to dream about it. It's the reality. But your physique is below average and your cock is as small as a worm. It's obvious that you're not good in bed."

Kolton was so incensed that his face turned purple. "You... You..."

"Stop stuttering. What do you think our next step should be? If you keep up this attitude, I won't untie you."

"Do you want me to beg you? No way!"

"Okay, then stay here. I'm going to spend the night in a hotel." Valentina strode out of the room, her voice dripping with contempt. "I misspoke just now. Your cock is even smaller than a worm. I can barely see it."

After throwing this last barb, Valentina sashayed out of the room.

Kolton's outraged roar rang out from behind. "Valentina Dixon!"

As soon as Valentina was out of the room and out of Kolton's line of sight, she patted her chest.

She was terrified just now. Not only was Kolton perfect, but he also had a perfect body. Fortunately, she had excellent self-control, or else, she would have pounced on him in there.

In a cafe, Valentina looked down and stirred the bitter coffee she wasn't fond of. She patiently listened to Sheri Hudson and Kolton's love story.

"We have known each other for ten years. Our relationship is everlasting. I love him and he loves me..."

Valentina's head shot up curiously and she interrupted Sheri. "If your relationship is everlasting, why doesn't he marry you?"

When Sheri heard this, she scowled and flushed. Valentina's taunt left her tongue-tied.

She had always dreamed of marrying Kolton, but he...

Unable to retort, Sheri withdrew a bank card from her purse and tossed it in front of Valentina.

"This card has one million dollars. Take the money and return to your hometown. You're not worthy of Kolton. You will never have any happiness even if you marry him. I deserve to be his wife."

Valentina leaned back into her chair and said enthusiastically, "What a coincidence! You want to marry Kolton, and I don't. Convince him to break off the engagement to me, and I will pay you one hundred million dollars for your troubles!"

"What?" After a moment, Sheri shrieked, "Valentina, are you trying to demean me? Are you insinuating that you were forced to get engaged to Kolton? Don't you know what kind of person you are? If you hadn't so shamelessly insisted on marrying him, he wouldn't have gotten engaged to you.

And do you even have any idea about how much one hundred million dollars are? How can you get your hands on such a big amount? You're just a bumpkin from the countryside. Let me tell you. I..."

Sheri's tirade came to an abrupt halt.

That was because Valentina slowly took out a black card and put it on the table.

The surname "Pearson" glittered in the cafe lights.

This card obviously belonged to Kolton.

Sheri was irate. Valentina wasn't even married to Kolton yet, but she had received the black card with no limit from the Pearson family.

Sheri's eyes turned red with envy. She jumped to her feet and screeched, "You bitch! How dare you steal Kolton's bank card!"

Valentina was annoyed.

"Don't abuse me. I'll ask you one last time. Will you be able to convince Kolton to break off the engagement to me or not?"

Sheri huffed in anger. If she was able to accomplish that, would she come to talk to Valentina?

It seemed to her that Valentina was not asking her, but humiliating her.

Sheri screamed, "Why can't I curse? You seduced Kolton so shamelessly, but you have the guts to stop me from giving you a piece of my mind? You're nobody to stop me from berating you! Bitch! Bitch!"

Valentina had reached the end of her tolerance and slapped Sheri multiple times in succession.

Sheri didn't even get a chance to fight back. Her face instantly began to swell up.

She was in so much pain that she couldn't curse anymore. She could only plop on the floor and groan.

She didn't even dare to cry because her face hurt so badly.

Valentina stopped and said in a displeased voice, "I told you not to abuse me, but you refused to listen. You've been pestering me for a few days, but I didn't bother to respond to you. I believed you could actually talk Kolton into breaking off the engagement. But I didn't expect you to be cut from the same cloth as him. You are useless!

Let me tell you one thing. In my eyes, even a cup of milk tea is more important than Kolton. If you can somehow convince him to break off this engagement, I will appreciate your help. But if you can't do it, stay away from me in the future. Don't bother me ever again!"

After saying that, Valentina tucked the black card back into her pocket and left.

The patrons in the cafe were shell-shocked.

Who would have thought that a young, slim, and demure-looking girl would slap someone so indiscriminately?

As the saying went, one could never judge a book by its cover.

Valentina had walked out of the cafe. She pursed her lips, looking unhappy.

Her mind flashed back to Kolton tied to her bed, and she shook her head in disgust. Although he had a good body, he looked dumb. He was definitely not her type of man.

She had believed she would be able to end the engagement through Sheri. If she had known that Sheri didn't have such an influence, she wouldn't have come. What a waste of time!

Bang!

A loud noise came from the cafe, followed by a plume of thick smoke.

Chapter 2 He Is Immoral

"Ah! Fire! The cafe is on fire! Run!"

Chaos reigned inside the cafe. People were coughing and screaming while desperately scrambling to rush out.

Sheri also made a dash for the exit. When she reached the door, a woman stopped her.

Caught in the fleeing crowd, the woman had fallen and broken her leg, leaving her unable to move. She grabbed Sheri in obvious panic, as if she were clutching at straws.

"Miss, please save my child. He is still inside. Please save him. I beg you..."

Sheri's eyes widened. Enduring the pain in her face, she slapped the woman's hand away and snapped, "A huge fire is raging inside. You expect me to go in and die? Get out of my way!"

After saying that in a disgusted voice, Sheri sprinted away and called Kolton, feeling aggrieved.

"Kolton, come quickly. I'm injured. Help me..."

The woman lying on the ground felt as if she had lost her final hope. She wailed hysterically, and the gathered people began whispering among each other.

"Who would have the courage to go inside when such a big fire is blazing? It will be as good as having a death wish!"

"Yes. Unfortunately, the child will die."

Valentina was squeezed to the back of the crowd. She was about to leave, but when she heard the woman's words, she frowned and quickly pushed her way into the cafe against the crowd's tide.

Everyone gaped as Valentina rushed into the fire.

"Is that young woman insane? How can she run into such a big fire!"

"She must have lost her mind!"

Just when everyone began to believe that Valentina and the child were dead, she hurtled out of the cafe with the child in her arms.

Her clothes were burned and had several big holes, and her face was covered by a layer of soot. She looked filthy and highly embarrassed.

But the child she was clutching was unharmed.

The woman embraced her child tightly and burst into tears. When she finally came back to her senses and wanted to thank Valentina, the latter had disappeared.

Valentina hailed a taxi alone to go to the hospital.

Her entire focus had been on protecting the child in the cafe, and a falling chandelier had accidentally crashed into her back. Now the wound was burning and painful, so she was probably seriously injured.

Since it would not be possible for her to treat herself, she had to go to the hospital.

She didn't expect to see Kolton and Sheri as soon as she arrived there.

Sheri's eyes were bloodshot and she looked fragile, evoking pity in people.

Kolton protected her carefully, like he was protecting a precious treasure, and was continuously comforting her tenderly.

A group of doctors dressed in surgical gowns trailed them. Evidently, they were senior-most doctors of the hospital.

The spectacle made one feel like this was an inspection by a leader rather than a patient coming for treatment.

Valentina curled her lips and went to the outpatient department, ignoring her fiance and Sheri.

The doctor was astounded when he saw the wound on her back.

"Miss, how did you get hurt? This is a very serious injury."

"I accidentally got burned. Please apply some ointment for me."

The doctor's expression was grave. Valentina was severely injured but came to the hospital alone, in complete contrast to the big star who had just come in.

The big star's arrival had shaken the entire hospital's leadership.

The doctor turned his attention back to Valentina. She was injured at such a young age, but she was here alone and hadn't shed a single tear.

This was probably the difference between the princess and Cinderella, right?

Alas...

Noting Valentina's ordinary clothes, the doctor naturally assumed her to be a girl from a poor family.

"I'm afraid you will have to undergo surgery. Where is your family? Call them here to sign the relevant documents. I'll arrange the operation for you at the earliest."

"I'll sign them myself."

"No way. A family member needs to sign for the operation."

Valentina didn't know what to say. Disappointment descended over her. Her grandfather wasn't here, and she didn't even have anyone to sign the informed consent form for her.

"I'm an orphan."

The doctor was taken aback. "Don't you have any other family?"

"I have a grandfather, but he doesn't live in the city."

"You have no other relatives or friends here?"

"I have a fiance." As Valentina said this, her mind flashed back to what she had just witnessed. With pursed lips, she continued unhappily, "But he is dead. His private life was filled with debauchery and he was immoral. He had an affair with a married woman and was caught in bed by her husband. The husband beat him to death."

The doctor and the nurse were left dumbstruck.

The doctor didn't know how to respond to this, so he allowed Valentina to sign the documents herself.

As soon as Valentina was taking into surgery, Kolton received word that she was also in the hospital.

He rushed to the reception to inquire about the situation.

"What happened to Valentina Dixon? How did she get hurt? Is it serious?"

Chapter 3 Do You Deserve To Be Mrs. Pearson

The nurse at the reception was busy and became annoyed when she heard the questions. But when she looked up and her eyes landed on Kolton, her expression underwent an instant change.

What a good-looking man!

The nurse's cheeks turned red as she replied, "A young woman named Valentina Dixon has been admitted. Are you looking for her? How are you related to her?"

Kolton scowled deeply.

The nurse assumed it was because she had asked him too many questions, so she rushed to clarify, "Please don't misunderstand me. I didn't intend to pry. It's just that Miss Dixon informed us that she has no friends or relatives here.

She said she only had a fiance who cheated on her with a married woman. The woman's husband caught them in bed and beat him to death, so she signed the documents herself before the surgery."

Kolton's face darkened.

So he had an affair with a married woman and was beaten to death by her husband, huh?

Kolton was so enraged that he whirled around and strode out, leaving Valentina alone.

After getting the surgery and receiving some intravenous fluids, Valentina left the hospital against the doctor's medical advice.

Although she was seriously injured, it felt like a mere scratch to her in comparison to the injuries she had sustained in the past.

She was not a flower cultivated in a greenhouse, and she was quite tough.

When Valentina reached home, she spotted Kolton, who was talking on the phone.

When Kolton saw her return, he frowned, and his expression turned unpleasant.

In a very tender tone, he said into the phone, "Don't overthink. Follow the doctor's instructions and rest well. I'll call you later."

It was obvious that he was talking to Sheri.

As soon as he disconnected the call, his expression turned, and his tone was chilly. "Why did you hit Sheri today?"

Valentina was annoyed. She hadn't even had time to warn him against letting his woman provoke her in the future before he took the initiative to blame her.

"Why? Don't you know why? Obviously, it's because she deserved it!"

"She is an actress. Her face is her livelihood. How can you make her miss out on work by attacking her like that?"

"Why should I bother if she can act or not? She knows her face is her bread and butter, but she still doesn't protect herself properly. She approached me to create trouble. She deserved it!"

Kolton pursed his lips and was visibly furious.

"I knew you were born in an ordinary family, but I didn't expect you to be so lacking in manners. Do you think you're worthy of being my wife?"

"Huh?" Valentina's temper flared. "Are you out of mind? Do you really believe that I want to be your wife? If I could end this engagement with you right now, I would be on cloud nine. You can try it out if you don't believe me. Come on, call off the engagement!"

Kolton seethed. "Do you think I would have gotten engaged to you if it wasn't for my grandfather?"

Valentina pursed her lips before retorting, "Do you think I would have gotten engaged to you if it wasn't for my grandfather?"

A sudden silence descended over the room.

Both of them were being forced into this marriage, and neither of them liked the other.

"How did you have the nerve to slap Sheri in public? Do you think you were being reasonable?" Kolton's nostrils flared in anger.

Valentina didn't yield an inch either.

"How dare she abuse me in public? Was she behaving well? If you think it was okay for her to abuse me, then can I do the same to you now?"

"You are so pig-headed! I've never met a woman as thoughtless as you!"

"And I've never met a man as shameless as you in my entire life. You're so old, but you still want to marry a young girl. You're absolutely shameless.

Besides, isn't Sheri your love? So, you can convince your grandfather to end our engagement and marry her. You can't even persuade him to let you marry the girl you like, you loser!"

Shameless?

A loser?

How dare she yell at him like that?

"Valentina Dixon!" Kolton roared.

Valentina couldn't stop the shudder that ran through her. This man looked terrifying when he was angry.

"Why are you screaming? I'm not deaf."

Kolton inhaled deeply and glared at Valentina sullenly for a long time before he spoke again.

"From now on, watch yourself. Don't stir up trouble for Sheri!"

Then Kolton stormed upstairs to the study and slammed the door shut.

Valentina shouted in his direction, "Who was it who started the provocation? You'd better clarify it to Sheri. If she ever bothers me again, I will give her a good beating!"

After Valentina finished her angry rant, she went to the guest bedroom with a pout. She made sure to slam the door louder than Kolton had.
