"Where the heck have you been in the past hours?" Emiliana screeched as she slapped the lady before her.
"My party is about to start and my dress is still at the seamstress' place,'' she yelled again, making the lady quiver and her face now imprinted with Mark from the slap.
Being the last daughter of Alpha Damien and Luna Selena, Emiliana was pampered and a little spoiled.
"Forgive me, my lady, I had to go pick out the jewelry you'll be using tonight," her voice quivering and her head low.
While other helpless maids scrambled around in panic trying to clear the mess Emiliana made in her room.
"Get it done, now!" Emiliana yelled, throwing tantrums as she slumped on her chair. The maid bowed and disappeared through the door before she received another dose of her furry.
"You know that kind of behavior is unbecoming of a princess, and you are one." Xiamen expressed as he stood by the door, leaning on the side of the door. Two of his warriors acted as bodyguards behind him.
"I'm just so worked up about my party, I guess. I know how much of an effort you guys put into the preparations and I just want everything to go smoothly," Emiliana replied, resting her head in her palms.
Xiamen strolled into the room casually. "
He then turned to one of the warriors following him and instructed to stay outside.
"I thought the dress was supposed to be delivered yesterday, princess. Why the delay?" Xiamen asked his younger sister.
"They delivered it yesterday, but it was a little bit loose around the waist and I wasn't satisfied with the gemstones she put in the dress." She let out, touching her waist and pouting her lip.
"Emeliana! This is going too far! You don't have to treat them that way because you are higher than them," his voice turned stern, this reminded her of one person, her father.
"But I wanted something royal so I could look like the princess you always call me, but all I got was a piece of trash meant for paupers."
Xiamen shook his head trying to control his furry, "The guests are arriving and so get things done on time."
Emeliana scoffed at this, "Can't you get worried for some.."
"Emiliana! Don't get me mad!" Xiamen's voice thundered as she stood right, she hated and got scared of him when he got mad.
Xiamen is the acting Alpha at the moment. Their parents had embarked on a sacred journey for some werewolf rituals that take place once every twenty years and won't be back for a while.
Emiliana is a late bloomer. She hadn't been able to shift for the past 18 years of her life so her brother threw the party for her in hopes that she'll be able to find her mate there and that once she's mated, it would trigger her wolf to shift.
"Xiamen! You don't have to yell at me!" she let out almost in tears.
He sighed at this knowing he was getting mad at her, "I am sorry okay, just please don't hurt others if you don't snag to get ok my bad side." he pulled her in for a hug and she smiled a bit sadly.
*******
One and a half hours later, Emiliana was standing at the top of the stairs as cheers surrounded her from every angle. She smiled happily as she made her way down in her sky blue elegant dress.
The outfit had a form-fitting bodice paired with a long skirt that was gathered at the waist and dropped in three wide loops when draped in front. The petticoat was decorated with gemstones and had embroidery at the bottom of the skirt.
She styled her hair in a very pretty half updo with flowers and silver strands woven into her dark hair and an elegant silver tiara to match. At that moment, Emiliana felt like a princess.
Her brother was waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs to guide her to the dance floor for her first dance before other eligible male suitors would dance with her.
"You look beautiful, princess," he said as he helped her toward the dance floor.
Xiamena snorted at this and walked over to them with an air of authority.
She had now become the Beta in Daren's stead while they were away.
"Heard how you threw tantrums, you are lucky I wasn't there with you," Xiamena's voice was low but the warning could be heard in every bit of her words.
Emeliana clicked her tongue trying to control herself, "I should mingle with them," she spoke out.
She knows better not to get her sister's bad side, She moved forward now leaving the twin.
Another sigh escaped Xiamen's lip, he hoped she would find her mate at the ball because he had taken great pains to invite werewolves from all over the world just for that to happen. And he knew just how much Emiliana had been looking forward to finding her mate.
"You spoil her too much to control her now," his twin let out and also joined the crowd.
Emiliana mingled with several suitors and danced with many, but she didn't feel any pull towards any of them. She was already starting to lose hope but decided to keep going, at least until she had made contact with ninety percent of the men, if not all of them.
"He's not here. I want all of them to leave," she frantically told Xiamen when she got to his seat after a few hours of socializing.
"Calm down, princess..."
"No. I want all of them out of my party. If you don't send them all away, I will." She shouted impatiently.
Her voice was so loud that some of the guests turned to look at her.
"What are you all looking at? I said you should get out!" She shouted angrily and ran to the nearest table, swiping all the food on it to the floor.
Murmurs erupted but Emiliana cared less about it, she wasn't happy about her situation. She had high hopes of getting her mate tonight, but now nothing good is coming out of it.
She then dashed away to the garden behind the palace, crying and ignoring her siblings' calls.
A loud scream echoed from outside the palace, and this made everyone stand alert, ready for attack, but the next thing they felt was a foul smell filling the whole environment.
Before everyone could understand the smell, they had begun to fall to the ground.
"Wolfsbane!" Xiamen yelled trying to cover his nose but he had inhaled some amount of it so it was blurry his vision already. It
"Emiliana!" Xiamen roared, recalling his sister had run out of the palace.
The twins fought the smell hard about going after their sister, but some masked men attacked them.
They were already weak, the men blinded their vision and stabbed them both.
Xiamen struggled to get one of the men's masks but he was stabbed continuously, propelling him to let go.
Emilana knelt next to the water fountain as she cried bitterly.
"Why does the moon goddess hate me so much?" She cried, biting her lip hard so she didn't sound loud enough to attract attention.
She was still in tears when she heard footsteps moving toward her. She muffled her tears thinking it was one of her siblings but when the footsteps got closer she felt a painful metal hit her head.
But she is the Alpha King's daughter, she can't give up easily. She turned about to attack but that was another big mistake.
The wand hit her right on her arm, making blood slash out of her delicate skin and smudging her gown.
Her eyes met with a masked-up figure staring right into her, sniffing him to know if he was from their pack but she got nothing. He hid his scent already.
"Who are you?" she cried out, but then she felt the masked figure press a cloth on her nose and tried to fight the person off but soon enough, she fell unconscious.
Emiliana opened her eyes groggily, looking around confused. "Where am I?" she thought as she tried to make sense of her surroundings.
She was in a silver cage in a very dirty room with no one in sight. She tried to turn around to check if there was anyone around and that was when the pain registered.
Looking down at her body, she realized that her gown was torn in several places and there were burns all over her body, a by-product of silver.
She screamed for help when she saw how hideous she looked but no one came to her rescue. She didn't lose hope though and tried screaming again.
Just when she was about to give up, the door burst open and her hope was raised but one look at the rugged, cruel-looking man who entered through the door, she just knew that he was not a charming prince coming to rescue his princess, nor was he the answer to her prayers.
"Shut up, little girl. One more word from you and you will be taught pain in the worst possible way you can ever imagine," he shouted.
Emiliana whimpered and backed away from the door of the cage where she was sitting, trying to get away from the cruel man.
But before she could scoot far enough, her back came in contact with the silver bars at the other end of the cage. The piercing pain made her scream involuntarily.
Remembering the warning she was given by the cruel man in front of her cage, she clamped her teeth down on her lips to prevent any noise from escaping but it was too late and the door opened as three other men trudged into the room carrying weapons.
She winced as she tried to sit up when the first man approached the cage and yelled at her, "I told you to be quiet, didn't I? You worthless runt and now you will be punished for your disobedience."
He gestured to one of the men beside him who handed him a key. As he approached the door, Emiliana desperately tried to get hold of her pack through the mind only to be met with silence. It was at that moment she knew that the connection between her pack, her parents, and her siblings had been severed.
"Someone please answer me," she cried inwardly.
She was confused for a minute before concluding that they must have overdosed her on a lot of silver strong enough to sever the bond.
"I can't die this way, my father is going to come to save me," she thought, still not giving up and trying to reach her family.
"I won't die pleading for my life. No, my parents didn't raise a coward," she murmured under her breath, her heart hurt like shit but she wouldn't let all these get to her.
She recalled Xiamen calling her princess, so she straightened her back and sat as regally as she could while the door was being unlocked.
When the man unlocked the door, "Crawl out of the cage Runt!" he yelled but she refused and sat still.
She was banking on the fact that if he decided to come and get her, the silver would burn him too. Little did she know that they had other plans for her.
"I love it when little bitches like you don't listen, so I would teach you a lesson you wouldn't forget when you come in the next world,"
Emiliana gets nervous at this even though she is trying to muster courage.
"Now!" the man instructed.
The three men that were standing behind the man in front of the cage suddenly spread out to cover the four sides of the cage and began poking inside the cage with long sticks to push her forward.
She tried to hold her ground and not budge, but when the pain started getting too much, she crawled her way out of the cage.
"Now, that is what you do," the man let out.
He picked her up by the hair "Let me go!" Emiliana cried out.
He threw her against the wall and screamed out in pain as the bone in her left shoulder broke from the force of the throw.
"We're just getting started, whore. You disobeyed the mighty Gilbert, and you will die because of that," he growled, advancing on her.
"Do you know who my parents are, you brute? You better pray they never find you because if they do, your fate will be worse than death,"
Emiliana screamed as he drew closer, praying it would be enough to deter him.
But he only laughed and moved forward, raising a silver axe.
"Stop!" A voice came from the door.
Gilbert immediately drew back and dropped the axe, bowing his head as he immediately left her to go stand with the rest of the men.
Emiliana looked up to see her savior and was instantly bewitched by his beauty.
He had blue eyes the color of the sky which complimented his silver hair, a sexy nose, and chiseled jaws so sharp he looked sculpted.
His face alone was like a thirst trap and all she longed for was to bury her head in his chest and cling on to him like a lifeline.
And that was when it hit her. This handsome man standing was her mate and the thought alone made her feel so relaxed that she forgot her condition.
She straightened along the wall where she was resting, trying her best to look presentable in front of him.
"Mine,"
She whispered as the fatigue rolled over her. At last, the mate that she had been searching for was finally standing in front of her in all his majestic beauty.
Finally, her mate has come to her rescue and her world could now be at peace.
Who would have thought that all it took was for her to get abducted to find him? Now, all the previous punishments and pains were finally worth it.
But why was he smirking? Wasn't he supposed to kill the bad guys and then carry her in his arms over to freedom? So why were the bad guys, even Gilbert who was confident a while ago, trembling in his presence?
"Master, this is the girl you ordered us to bring to you," he said, bowing his head.
That was when the truth that she didn't want to believe dawned on her. Her mate was behind the whole kidnapping.
All the pain she had suffered was because of him. A heartrending pain tore through her whole body but she tried to maintain a straight face.
Her mate bent down to her level and inspected her with disgust, Then he turned back to his men and smiled.
"Now I have his lovely daughter with me, I will destroy her and make sure he feels every pain I felt when he destroyed me first!"
Only then could Emiliana finally put the box together, she had just fallen into her dad's rival.
The whole pack was in turmoil and disarray as all the warrior units were dispatched to look for Emiliana. The twins couldn't sleep well and were out all night with the warriors.
Xiamen, the Alpha, and Emiliana's elder brother blamed himself for hosting that kind of large party.
Although he did it out of love and support for his younger sister to help her find her mate, she had gone missing without a mate who would be able to use the bond to track her down.
Angela, Xiamen's mate and the former Beta's daughter, was blaming herself for not running after Emiliana that night.
She had wanted to go with her to the garden but she decided to give her some space.
Not knowing the next minute their pack would be under attack.
When they regained consciousness they tried finding Emliana they saw her tiara on the ground beside the fountain, and there were signs of someone being dragged across the ground.
Since Xiamen had the power of both creatures in him he could survive the stab wound and get healed on time.
But they were too late to save her, even the best of their trackers couldn't pick up the scent anyway.
Xiamena, the Beta and Ximen's twin, was blaming herself for dissuading Emiliana's bodyguard from following her when she ran out to the gardens.
Everyone was dealing with their guilty thoughts as they sat down for a sad and light breakfast the next morning.
"Alpha nothing was gotten, we couldn't get the ones behind the attack," Xiamen stomped his fist on the desk before him as his men bowed.
"How could they evade the pack and go Scot free!?" he yelled but no one could give a perfect answer.
"Let's send another unit of warriors to the south and I will go with them," but Xiamen refused.
"We don't know which corner of the world she could be in right now, and while we're wasting time looking for her, she could be getting tortured or worse. I don't have time for this," he breathed heavily but the pain in his voice rang clear.
Angela got hold of his hand resting on the table and used her thumb to draw circles, trying to soothe him.
"So what do you suggest we do? We just can't sit here doing nothing while our princess is out there," Angela asked gently, still trying to soothe him.
Xiamen sighed heavily "Let's visit Aunt Melissa,"
Immediately he suggested that the whole table went dead silent as everyone looked towards their Alpha with wide eyes.
They all know how powerful she is, the last time they had all seen her was when they were still kids.
"You can't be serious right now, Xiamen. First of all, no one knows her precise location and as a result of this, we might search for her for days and still not find her which will make everything futile." Xiamen expressed.
"Secondly, there's a reason people avoid her. The price to pay just for a simple answer is crazy. What if she asks for a life or worse, your bond to your mate and the pack? And finally, mum and dad wouldn't approve of this. There must be something else we can do," Xiamena added cautiously.
Melissa might be their grand aunt but she is so crazy when it comes to helping. Only their dad knows how to get her.
"First of all, there's no negotiating. I am the Alpha of this pack and my word is law. And about the price she will ask of us, we will cross that bridge when we get to it. We are related after all," he stood from his chair making them all see how serious he was.
"And about our parents, they are not here and we haven't been able to reach them since they traveled." Xiamena looked down, frustrated.
"Would you like to be the one to explain to them how their youngest daughter went missing under our watch while they were away?" Xiamen solicited making the whole table go silent.
After breakfast, he instructed the warriors to pack up for the journey and assured his twin sister that he was fine with whatever she decided on, but he was going to find their sister no matter what.
A few hours later, Xiamen and Xiamena headed out with a couple of their warriors. Angela stayed behind to take care of the pack's affairs while they were gone.
They journeyed for 3 days towards the east which was the location where the witch was last seen and decided to take a rest when they couldn't find her there. They sent their best trackers scouting the area trying to pick up a scent.
"So what do we do now?" Xiamen asked after trying to find her but it was all turning futile.
This is the kind of time he needs his parents most, but he just can't ask them to come.
He needed to act like the Alpha he was and not want his parents to interfere.
"We'll continue scouting the area and if after a few hours, there's no progress; we'll journey back home and try to get an update on the witch," Xiamen sighed regretfully.
Towards the end of the third day, they finally tracked her down to the house she loved.
Excited, they all aligned, as Xiamen called for her with great excitement.
It's been a while since they've seen her, "Grand Aunt!" Xiamena called out scouting through the house.
But something seems amidst, "Grand..."
"Watch Out! Xiamena told her brother. He felt a footstep behind me and before the figure could lunge an attack, Xiamen caught its first and bent it backward.
His claws elongated without thinking twice, he stabbed them right into his chest.
His eyes glowed, and his fang appeared. "Never repeat your action, when you come to your next life,"
A deep voice resonated from him, they needed no one to tell them his wolf had finally made an entrance.
His Wolf hardly gets mad, he is calm and reserved but dares not to be tested.
"You will go..." Xiamen's claws seep deep into his heart, making the pain unbearable.
"Where is my grandaunt!" blood poured out his mouth as he laughed crazily.
"Nowhere to be found," the figure let out, Xiamena ripped out the masks from his face.
"The same mask the one who attacked our pack was using," Xiamana announced and Xiamen let go of him immediately.
He couldn't just kill him, he needed to find the one who took his sister.
"Tell me what you know or I will end you right now and here!" Xiamen warned but the figure burst out laughing.
"Never! I will watch my leader take you all down!" the voice yelled and just then before Xiamen could stop him,
He already slit his throat, "No!" Xiamena yelled.
"We just lost the one who could lead us to Emeliana!" she clamored, stomping her foot.
Xiamen felt a piercing pain in his chest and groaned, his hand held his chest and his eyes furrowed in pain.
Immediately, Xiamena appeared by his Side with a few of his warriors.
"What is wrong with you?" she asked.
"Pain... Aurora... is in danger..." he gasped.
Their thoughts flashed back to how their pack had been evaded at first.
"Quick! We must leave immediately. Come on..." Xiamena shouted at the warriors.
The warriors all transformed into their wolf forms and did not dare ask a question.
"Danger ahead! We all fight till death!" Xiamen growled as this made the whole environment tense.
Their Alpha had exuded different kinds of emotion after the disappearance of his little sister.
In their fast pace they arrived at their pack in a few hours but only to be met with terror and regrets kicking in immediately.
The pack was in disarray, with houses on fire, women and children running helter-skelter looking for their loved ones among the dead, and a lot of corpses littered on the ground both from their pack and their attackers.
The battle had already ended when they arrived and Xiamen hurried to go look for Angela, his mate.
"Angela!" their voice echoed as they walked into their Palace, with pain and regret.
They shouldn't have left in the first place, members wailing filled the atmosphere.
"Angela!" they called again only to meet her treating some of the patients.
She embraced Xiamen the moment she saw him, tears escaping her eyes.
She is Luna yet she couldn't do anything to save her people who her mate had bestowed for her to protect.
"I am so sorry." she teared up, but Xiamen only returned the embrace, his hand tightly around her comforting her.
"More people are coming in!" Xiamena caught the lovers off the acts.
"Who are these people!" Xiamen solicited, and only then did her cry seize up.
"Knox! They are from Knox!" she let out like she recalled something when fighting with them.
"What!" The twins yelled as they stared at her in pure terror.
