Chapter 1 How Dare You Take Advantage Of Me

Sophie Su sneaked into the huge presidential suite on the top floor of the most luxurious five-star hotel in C City.

The bathroom was foggy as the man inside was taking a hot shower. As he stood under the shower head, water slid down his muscular body.

Through to the misted glass, she could vaguely see his strong muscles. Obviously, he kept fit with exercise

With a mop in her hand, Sophie Su, who was dressed as a cleaner, peeked inside. She squinted her eyes to get a better glimpse of him. Even from this distance, she could tell he had a great body. Happily, she ogled his figure. 'I am going to drool, ' she thought to herself.

Just then, Aaron Mu sensed someone's presence. "Who is it?" he asked angrily.

Hearing this, Sophie Su quickly retracted her head back from the door.

The sound of spraying water gradually came to a halt. The whole room was taken by an eerie silence.

Sophie Su caught her breath, bracing herself for what was about to come. Few minutes passed but he showed no signs of coming out. Out of curiosity, she poked her head once again.

However, as soon as she did so, it clashed with his chest.

"Ouch!"

She winced in pain, covered her nose and took a few steps back.

Aaron Mu had already worn his bathrobe. He lowered his head and looked down at the woman in front of him. 'What a nuisance!' he thought, furious at being disturbed. Looking at her, he asked, "Who allowed you to come here?"

She finally got to see the face that belonged to this magnificent body. He was quite a handsome man.

Knowing fully well she was in trouble, Sophie Su lowered her head, turned around and was about to leave, carrying her mop.

As if Aaron Mu had predicted this, he put his hand on her shoulder and stopped her from leaving.

Seeing this, Sophie Su turned around, shook off his hand and glared at him angrily. "You are overreacting! I was merely starting at you. When did staring become a crime?" she asked, trying to defend her actions.

Aaron Mu froze as he sensed familiarity in her eyes.

Just then, a loud noise came from outside.

"You take your men to the left, and you take your men to the right. Search every nook and cranny of this hotel!"

"Yes, sir!"

Sophie Su overheard the conversation that took place outside.

As she heard the approaching footsteps, she was overcome by fear. Throwing away the mop, she leaned forward and covered the man's mouth. Before Aaron Mu could react, she pulled him to the bed and quickly covered themselves with the quilt.

She was bracing herself for a disaster.

Soon, there was a knock on the door.

In a respectful tone, a man asked, "Mr. Mu, have you gone to bed? Just now, someone broke in. We are doing our best to find the culprit. I am sorry to disturb you. But we are just making sure you are safe."

However, Aaron Mu wasn't paying attention to this man's words. Instead, his focus was on the woman who was lying close to him.

Realizing Aaron Mu wasn't going to give her away, Sophie Su breathed a sigh of relief. Pinching her throat, she replied in a deep voice, "Hmm."

Her voice was deliberately hushed hence they couldn't tell it was coming from a female.

She didn't bother to say anything more. Deep down, she prayed they would take it as a hint to leave.

After a long silence, someone said, "Officer Huang, it seems that Mr. Mu has gone to bed. I think he doesn't want to be disturbed. Perhaps we should search for the trespasser somewhere else."

Once the footsteps disappeared, the corridor became silent.

Her actions had alerted the police! She admonished herself for her carelessness.

Anyway, Sophie Su was glad that they had left. She turned her head and happened to meet Aaron Mu's affectionate eyes. The intimacy made her feel uncomfortable.

They were so close that they could hear each other's heartbeat.

Blushing, Sophie Su turned her head and tried to get out of the quilt. But to her surprise, Aaron Mu clutched her wrist.

Aaron Mu stared straight into her eyes, not willing to let her go. A myriad of thoughts flooded him.

He didn't know what got into him. The next second, he leaned over and kissed her delicate lips.

It wasn't an ordinary kiss. His kiss contained possession and longing.

Sophie Su was caught off-guard. Widening her eyes, she tried to pull free from his grip.

Just when she was trying to fight him, footsteps that had disappeared came back.

Worried she would be caught, she remained silent, not daring to make a sound. Using her hands, she tried to push him away. But her attempts were futile.

Holding her slender waist, Aaron Mu pulled her close to him.

Their bodies were so close.

Soon, the voices from the corridor melted away. Sophie Su bit Aaron Mu's lower lip and pushed him using all her might.

Quickly, she lifted the quilt and sat up straight, gasping for breath. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead.

Seeing her look at him with exasperation, Aaron Mu suddenly came to his senses. 'These eyes are so familiar. Could my hunch be right? Is this actually her?' he wondered.

His actions made her blood boil. Unable to take it anymore, she slapped his cheek.

Aaron Mu was stunned and remained frozen in his place.

Getting out of the bed, Sophie Su looked at him one last time and said, "How dare you take advantage of me!"

Once she was done speaking, she sprinted out of the room. After making sure the area was clear, she sneaked out quietly.

She went away back home.

Once Aaron Mu regained his composure, he got out of the bed, intending to chase after her. But by then, it was too late. She had disappeared already.

Lee Li, the Secretary, happened to come over. He caught sight of his boss standing by the door. A little surprised to find him here during this hour, he asked, "Mr. Mu, why aren't you sleeping?"

Glancing at him, Aaron Mu didn't answer his question. Instead, he asked coldly, "What happened tonight? What's all this commotion about?"

"Someone accidentally broke the exhibit that you designed. We are trying to find the culprit," he explained.

There was a thoughtful look on Aaron Mu's face. He gathered that the woman dressed up as a cleaner was the person they were looking for. Moreover, her skin was too smooth. 'She isn't a cleaner, that's for sure, ' he mused in silence.

Standing there, he was lost in thoughts. After a while, he went back to his room.

Lee Li didn't know whether he had to stay or leave. Since the door was open, he thought his boss had gone to fetch something.

After a few minutes, Aaron Mu returned with a piece of paper.

"Investigate the identity of this woman as soon as possible," he ordered, passing on the paper to his secretary.

It was simple portrait of a woman.

Lee Li stared at it for a while, unable to understand what had gotten into his boss's head. But from what knew, his boss didn't like it when people pried. Nodding his head, he set forth to do what Aaron Mu had asked him to do.

In less than an hour, all the information about Sophie Su was placed on the table.

Aaron Mu's eyes fell on the family name. She belonged to the Su family.

As he closed the document, a wicked smile appeared on his lips. His suspicion had been right.

Before returning to the villa, Sophie Su had taken off her disguise. In spite of this, she didn't look too good. Her hair was ruffled and her clothes wrinkled. On top of that, she feared the consequences of her carelessness. Her actions could bring trouble to her family. Her father was a strict man. If it weren't for the fact that she was afraid of her father's punishment, she wouldn't have tried every possible means to flee. She had lost her first kiss to a complete stranger!

With a heavy heart, she stepped into the villa.

Once she opened the door, she was stunned to see the lights were still on. For a second she feared her father was waiting to scold her. However, to her relief, he wasn't there.

Chapter 2 Being Followed

Sophie looked around, wondering who had turned on the lights.

Soon she caught sight of William Xu sitting on the sofa.

Hearing the sound of her arrival, William Xu looked up and smiled at her. "Sophie, you're back!"

Then he stood up and walked towards her.

Just the sight of him made her feel warm in her heart. Sophie's eyes remained glued to the man who was approaching her. She forgot all about her worries. Her frustration was replaced by elation.

It was way past his bedtime. In spite of this, he had remained awake, waiting for her.

"I've sent someone to deal with what happened tonight," William Xu said with a smile. He rubbed Sophie's hair affectionately as his eyes brimmed with tenderness. "I will try to deal with your problems to the best of my ability, okay? I am always here for you."

Sophie didn't like it when people played with her hair. However, with William Xu, it was different. He could get away with everything. Realizing he was waiting for an answer, she snapped back to reality.

"William, that's so kind of you!" Restraining the strong emotions she was feeling, she smiled.

Instead of returning her smile, William Xu gazed at her. His expression was unreadable and Sophie couldn't tell what caused it.

Pinching Sophie's nose, he corrected her, "Call me 'Brother'!"

"How many times should I tell you that you aren't my brother!" Sophie shook off his hand, her mood turning sour.

The Xu family and the Su family had been friends for generations. Unfortunately, several years ago, the Xu family had a serious car accident. Everyone expect William Xu died. Being concerned about him, the Su family took him home. Ever since then, he had lived in here.

Sophie had a close relationship with him.

She liked him so much that she often told her parents she would marry William Xu. The adults laughed, treating it as a joke. The truth was, even now she liked him a great deal.

Sophie wasn't a kid anymore. She knew what she felt for William Xu had surpassed friendship. Every now and then, she caught herself gazing at him. Often, she would plan their marriage in her head before she went to sleep.

But there was nothing she could do about it. After all, she didn't know whether he had a thing for her or not.

Their eyes met and silence pervaded in the hall.

Everything else disappeared, it was just the two of them.

Sophie swallowed and looked at the face in front of her. Mustering up some courage, she stood on her tiptoe to kiss him.

William Xu understood what she was up to. Quickly, he moved away, not giving her a chance to kiss him.

"It's late. Go to bed,"

he said like nothing had happened. Without giving her a chance to react, he went upstairs to his room.

Sophie was devastated. He had refused to kiss her. For a few minutes, she remained in the hall, her face turning red with embarrassment.

The next day, William Xu went to meet Aaron in the Mu Group's office. "Mr. Xu. Tell me why you are here,"

Aaron asked, looking at the man in front of him. His face was emotionless. One couldn't guess what was going on in his mind.

Instead of answering, William Xu placed a silver suitcase on the table.

It was filled with cash. Realizing Aaron was still confused, he decided to explain.

"Sophie is a naughty girl. I would like to apologize for what happened yesterday. I hope this ten million would compensate for it. Please let her go, Mr. Mu."

Aaron leaned forward and glanced at the suitcase. Returning it back to William, he shook his head with a smile. "Of course I am going to let the matter slide. However, there is no need to pay for it. The Mu family and the Su family have known each other for years. In fact, we've been engaged since we were kids. I am more than happy to forgive my fiancee."

William Xu was stunned and there was a slight change in his expression.

'Fiancee? How come Sophie never mentioned this to me?' he wondered.

"Mr. Mu, perhaps you have made a mistake. From what I know, Sophie isn't engaged. If she had been, she would have mentioned." Recovering from the shock, William Xu put on a smile.

He was sure there was a misunderstanding. He had lived with the Su family for several years. None of the family members made any mention of Sophie's engagement.

Staring at William Xu, Aaron casually shrugged his shoulders and said, "I am not surprised that she doesn't remember it. It has been a long time ago. However, that doesn't change the truth."

Aaron realized it when he stared into her eyes yesterday.

In spite of that, there wasn't any recognition in her eyes. She had forgotten all about him.

"May I know who you are to Sophie Su? Why are you here on her behalf?" A sharp light flicked through Aaron's eyes.

He couldn't stand the thought of a stranger speaking on behalf of his fiancee.

William Xu smiled and explained, "I've always treated Sophie as my sister, Mr. Mu. Why? Did you misunderstand our relationship?"

There was a mysterious smile on William's lips.

Unable to take this any longer, Aaron stood up and walked towards William Xu.

With a click sound, the suitcase was shut.

Feigning a smile, he said, "I'm glad to hear that."

Even though William Xu was disturbed with Aaron, he didn't show it on his face. Straightening up, he looked straight into Aaron's eyes. There was no fear in his gentle eyes.

As their eyes met, an invisible spark rose in the atmosphere.

They were interacting with each other without words.

It was William Xu who broke the silence.

"Mr. Mu, it's very kind of you to forgive her. I am forever indebted to you."

There was a tinge of sarcasm in his voice.

"Like I said, she is my fiancee. It is pointless for you to thank me." Aaron smiled.

"I just remembered I have an urgent business to deal with. I should be leaving." There was a faint crack in William Xu's smile. Turning around, he scurried out of the office.

Once he was out of his sight, Aaron's smile vanished. Instead, a vicious expression overtook it.

'I don't like him. This man isn't as nice as he seems, ' Aaron thought. He prided himself for being a good judge of character.

Back in the house, Sophie was pacing back and forth. Last night, William had brutally dodged her kiss. Her spirits were low ever since she got up this morning. When she received a call from her best friend, Gloria Gu, asking her to go shopping, she agreed in an instant.

'If I remain here, I might go crazy!' she thought.

Once she was dressed, she stepped out of the house and took a deep breath. The fresh air and the bright sun instantly made her feel better.

She decided to drive herself there.

The black Mercedes-Benz was galloping on the road. Since the windows were open, the cold wind caressed her hair.

Sophie took a look at the rearview mirror and found a silver car following her.

At first, she didn't pay much attention to it.

However, ten minutes passed and the car was still following her!

She had a bad feeling about this.

'No, this can't be my imagination!'

To confirm her suspicion, Sophie moved to a different direction.

This time, the car wasn't around.

Perhaps she was thinking too much. Either way, she couldn't get rid of the unease she had begun to feel. Sophie believed her intuition.

'But what reason did anyone have to follow me?' she couldn't help but wonder. The whole thing looked absurd.

Discarding these thoughts out of her mind, Sophie continued driving to her destination. Every now and then, she glanced into the rearview mirror. Thankfully, the silver car was nowhere around.

Finally, she arrived at the mall where Gloria Gu would be waiting for her.

The two walked hand in hand. She had a wonderful time! They had lunch and shopped to their heart's content. When they came out of the mall, they had about a dozen shopping bags in their hands.

Chapter 3 To Keep Pace With You

Several hours had passed since they entered the mall.

When Sophie was about to get in the car, once again she caught a glimpse of the silver car.

'Can this be a coincidence?' she wondered, unable to put her mind at ease.

This area was brimming with shops of luxuries. The cheap car was a trifle out of place.

She was determined to investigate this matter.

"Gloria, I think you should go back. An urgent matter came up," Sophie said, turning to Gloria. There was an awkward smile on her face. She had promised Gloria the whole day.

"But why?" Gloria asked, looking confused. "Didn't you tell me you would be free the whole day?"

"I am sorry. I just got a message!" Sophie said and apologized frantically for her sudden departure. "Alright then," Gloria agreed.

Waving her hands, Sophie turned around and left. As she walked, she looked at the silver car.

She had lied so that Gloria would leave. She wasn't going anywhere; instead, she just wandered aimlessly.

All of a sudden, she turned around and saw a man in a black leather jacket standing right behind her.

When Sophie turned around, the man lowered the brim of his hat and looked around, pretending like he wasn't following her. Realizing she was suspecting him, he turned around, as if he was going to buy something.

With a bit of certainty in her heart, Sophie continued to walk forward. Through the rearview mirror of a Porsche car parked next to her, she noticed that the man was still following her.

'Well, my instincts were right, ' she thought.

Undoubtedly, she knew this was the man from the silver car.

'Could it be Mr. Mu who's behind this?' she wondered.

In fact it wasn't until William told her that she knew the man whose exhibit was broken by her was Aaron.

As she walked, she racked her brain for a solution. Suddenly, an idea popped into her mind.

The next second, she walked into a nearby alley.

Seeing this, the man quickened his pace.

However, when he arrived at the alley, it was a little dark inside. He could barely see her.

In spite of this, he cautiously trudged forward.

As he kept on walking, he realized this was a dead end.

She had set a trap and he had fallen for it!

Startled, the man turned around, ready to escape.

Before he could flee, Sophie stood in front of him.

Bile rose in his throat. He was overcome by fear.

"Tell me, why are you following me?"

she demanded as she approached him. Although she was smiling, there was no warmth in her eyes.

The man had no choice but to retreat back. Beads of sweat ran down his forehead. Words wouldn't come out of his mouth.

Sophie wasn't in any hurry. Looking at him with her cold eyes, she went on, "What if I yell and accuse you of molesting me?"

Even though he had been following her, something about his demeanor told her he wasn't here to hurt her.

In fact, he looked pretty harmless. Otherwise, Sophie wouldn't have dared to stand alone in a dark alley with him.

The man understood she wouldn't leave him without an explanation. His pupils shrank slightly, and he was so frightened that he knelt on the ground with his hands clasped together. He began to beg for mercy. "I'll tell you everything, please don't punish me."

Sophie returned home looking unhappy. Except for the servants, she was all alone in the house.

Slouching on the sofa, she furrowed her eyebrows.

Today's event left her confused.

After a while, William came back from work.

At first, Sophie hesitated. But knowing she had to get if off her chest, she confronted him.

"Have you eaten yet?" William took off his coat and handed it to the butler along with his briefcase.

Sophie shook her head.

In an indifferent tone, she said, "I went shopping with Gloria today. I was followed by someone."

William paused for a while and asked, "And then?"

"Why?" she asked as she realized what the man said was true.

If this had nothing to do with him, his first reaction would be asking her if she was okay.

The room was suddenly silent.

Sophie couldn't let this go. She wanted an explanation at any cost.

Biting her lips, she asked in a stern voice, "Tell me why you sent someone to follow me!"

She was used to talking with William softly. Her tone made him flinch.

After a long silence, William raised his head and looked at her with his tired eyes. "I did it because I care about you, Sophie. Don't be angry."

The truth was, she wanted to ask him more questions. But seeing how tired he was, Sophie let him go.

But the rest of the day, an eerie feeling followed her. If he wanted to protect her, he could have told her. 'Why didn't he tell me about it?' she couldn't help but wonder.

During the meal, the atmosphere was different from the normal days. Both of them remained silent.

On the next day, Sophie received a birthday party invitation from Barbara Bai.

The party would be held tonight.

Leaving the card on the table, she decided to skip it. She wasn't in a mood to attend a party. But to her surprise, before leaving, William told her, "After work, I will pick you up. Don't forget to get dressed."

'I guess I have no choice now, ' she thought with a sigh. In the evening, Sophie rummaged through her wardrobe and settled for a blue dress. It was gorgeous and made her look even more beautiful. To go with it, she dabbed her face with minimal make-up. She was naturally beautiful and didn't have to overdo.

"My sister is so beautiful." Wearing a black suit, William stood in front of her, admiring her beauty.

Sophie noticed a glimmer of attraction in his eyes. But soon, it disappeared. She told herself perhaps she had imagined it.

Pouting, she said unhappily, "I've told you several times that I am not your sister!"

Her words sent him smiling. Reaching out for her hand, he said, "Let's go, my princess."

Hearing that, Sophie smiled happily and gave her hand to him.

When they arrived at the hotel, a lot of eyes fell on them. They looked like a couple.

Aaron recognized Sophie in an instant. Yes, she was indeed the girl who had come to his room, pretending to be a cleaner.

When he looked at the man standing next to her, his face darkened. With his cold gaze, he glared at her hand that was on William's arm.

Gulping down his wine, he walked towards them.

"What a pleasant surprise, Miss Su!" he said, ignoring William's presence. There was a smile on his lips. "We have met before, haven't we?"

Raising her head, Sophie met his deep eyes. Startled, she immediately lowered her head.

'Why is he here? Oh God! Make him disappear!' she prayed as scenes from that night relayed in her mind.

"I am sorry. I think you have made a mistake," she said, but there was an unmistakable tremor in her voice.

"I'm thirsty. I will be getting something to drink. But you guys carry on talking!"

Leaving Aaron and William behind, she disappeared into the crowd.

"Mr. Mu, what do you mean?" William suddenly became suspicious. Moreover, Sophie's reaction was quite strange.

"I was just greeting my fiancee, Mr. Xu. It is wrong to pry in other people's business,"

Aaron said with a smile.

"Mr. Mu, here you are! I have been searching for you everywhere!"

the birthday girl exclaimed as she approached him. She was delighted to see him.

Clad in a long black dress, she was the star of the day.

Barbara Bai was so beautiful that men had difficulty peeling their eyes off her face.

William took a look at her and smiled. "Since you have a beautiful woman to keep you company, I think I should be leaving."

Saying that, he left. His words made Barbara Bai blush.

"Mr. Mu, I need your advice." Barbara Bai smiled shyly, holding a design sketch in her hand.

She had been working hard on this design. She had lots of people who flattered her every day. But she didn't care what they thought. The only person whose approval she needed was Aaron.

Since she was asking for his opinion, Aaron had to lower his head and look at it. However, his eyes were bereft of any emotions.

Overall, the design looked good. But some details could have been handled better. There was something about it that told him the designer lacked passion.

"Not bad," he said, hoping her queries would come to an end.

But Barbara Bai took it as an affirmation. She was overjoyed since he had bestowed his opinion on her work.

"Mr. Mu, I want to keep pace with you. Everyone knows you are fond of designing so I..."

She raised her head coquettishly, only to find that Aaron's attention was elsewhere. On following his gaze, she realized it was Sophie who had captured his attention. He was looking at her with a faint smile at the corners of his mouth.

She had been talking like an idiot for the past few minutes but he barely heard her words!

This realization wounded her heart. Barbara Bai's envious gaze glared at Sophie. Putting away the painting in the drawer, she picked up a glass of hot milk and made her way towards Sophie.
