FALL, BUT NOT FOR YOU

"ding dong" Rosaline gently patted her leg on the ground,

she checked the time on her watch that fits perfectly around her wrist. She rang the doorbell again and could hear faint footsteps coming from the other side of the door.

The door was pushed opened from the inside, through a small gap, a middle aged woman

peeped as she scans Roseline from head to toe.

"Cake delivery" rose said whilst raising the package in her

hand. The woman nodded. She seems to be a guest in this place as Roseline has

come here a few times and this was not usually the person she meets .

The door opens again and another woman stepped outside, Rose smiled and greeted " good morning Mrs wright "

"morning Rose, thanks for delivering the cake on short.notice" the woman with blonde hair of shoulder length said she reached out to

take the package before passing rose the money who nodded with a smile after

counting it . Before the woman went inside the house, she said "also Bella's

birthday party is this evening , she went shopping with her father for

decorations, she told me to tell you not to miss it "

"I won't miss it"

Rose let out a long sigh , she's had along day, helping her mum in the bakery going on her morning shifts in a fancy restaurant and helping

her mum make deliveries, she also had classes to attend to but that isn't until

noon and this is just 11:00 so she has one hour left before she heads for

college. She's in her second year of university.

She started walking on the side of the road, humming a song.as she walks. The neighborhood she lived in was a big one so basically she

didn't know everyone who lives here but it didn't change that she still knows her way around considering she makes deliveries. That's right, she still has

one more thing to deliver.

Picking up the pace, rose half ran across the street as she

took three turns with a small bag in her hand trying her best not ruin the content. The young girl didn't want to waste anytime. Finally, she stopped in

front of house, rose would have made use of her bike but she had recently just sent it for repairs.

A small gate was preventing her from going further in, she sighed and tried to catch her breath. Before pushing the gate that was luckily

left opened.

Just when she was about to open the door , someone who is older than her mum opened the door with a wide smile plastered on her face. She

looked to have been expecting Roseline.

"I was starting to think you would arrive late" the woman said

Rose immediately apologized " sorry Mrs Thompson ,I got caught up in the middle of

something and my bike isn't with me so it made me extra slow today ".

Camila Thompson, the older woman nodded her head in understanding before glancing at her hand that held the bag

"Oh.." rose said in realization her hand stretching the bag

in front of her, indicating for the woman to take it from her . Camila took it

but instead of taking in the entire bag, reached inside and took out a donut that was neatly packaged before returning the bag back to rose who looked confused.

" You came later than usual and Kai already left so give it to him when you get to school "

" alright Have a good day Mrs Thompson" saying this rose immediately left the

residence and headed for her mum's bakery where the cakes and snacks were in full a transparent glass display, customers filled the shop .

The bell let out a ding as soon as Roseline pushed the door opened, she went to the back where the kitchen is also where she presumes her mum would be as someone's already helping her at the front.

"Hey mum" she greeted before kissing the woman on the cheek,.whose clothes is partially covered in flour and hand covered in dough " did you manage to deliver everything?" Lilah asked her daughter who, from the corner of her eyes saw rose packing up snacks in a small container

Rose responded with" of course I did, I always do" the young woman noticed her mum staring at the small bag in on the counter and she quickly clarified "I need to give this to Kai when I reach school " .

Lilah nodded with a smile" alright the have fun and make sure to call me if you'd be late so I can go and pick up Tyler "

" I will , but I do need to attend Bella's party later this

evening but nonetheless..." rose shrugged her shoulders leaving her words hanging.

Rose rushed out of the store and ran towards the bus stop, she checked the time and it was just 11:30.

Taking the bus means it would be a fifteen to twenty minutes drive, and rose wanted to arrive there ahead of time so

she wouldn't be the center of attention if she were to come late not that it has happened before.

On her way she freed her brown hair that has been held together by the rubber band. Her usually long hair was cut to rest on her

shoulder but still shorter than Mrs wright's hair. She wore a black jeans trouser and a long sleeved baggy top ,she didn't apply makeup because it isn't particularly necessary.

THREE HOURS LATER

Rose stepped out of the class along with the other students who attended the class along with her. She was accompanied by one of them who sighed in exhaustion "if we had spent a few more minutes in that class,I'm bound to fall asleep for sure".

In response,rose chuckled then responded "you were already sleeping,your luckily you sat in the middle of the class and the students at the front were blocking you otherwise you've gotten punished by the teacher"

The girl shrugged in a ' I don't care ' manner then responded "but I wasn't got and you can't deny that the class was extra boring today,I can't wait to go my bedroom and sleep" .the girl yawned again to emphasize her words which made rose chuckled.

"Just don't oversleep and forget to do your project, remember we are having the same class again tomorrow" rose reminded,she still head the small bag in her hand,for some reason she hasn't seen the person she's been looking for and it's somewhat getting annoying, she's been holding onto this since morning and she still hasn't seen any signs of him.

As if on cue the girl beside her suddenly said "I happened to notice you are not with Kai today "

"What's that supposed to mean?" Rose questioned while still scanning the place,they were almost at the entrance of the building. The girl sighed and replied" you two are always together, like the perfect couple "

"there's nothing between us ,why can't you all get that?"rose was growing tired of this already and though it's their own thoughts,it gets annoying when they have the wrong impression about what goes on in her life.

The girl giggled "in that case , it's your loss, he's got everything the looks, intelligence and many more.."

Irritated rose curtly said "if you like him that much,go ahead and ask him out,I'm sure he will say yes,you are beautiful" the young woman said it but even she doubts Kai was going to give out a positive reply,he gives off a cold demeanor and impression that no one should come near him. And rose wasn't lieing the girl beside her was indeed beautiful.

"nooo,I like him but I don't want to be embarrassed by him" she looked around her and immediately said "bye now,the devil is here " and with that she ran off. Evidently confused,rose turned to look at the other side only to see the 'devil ' the other woman was referring to

Roseline noticed the man that walked from the other side of the hallway that's not too far from the entrance. Without wasting anytime, she ran towards him until she stops in front of him.

He looked up at her , he wore an unfathomable expression that made it even difficult for rose or anyone else to read him. His eyes barely showed any signs of emotions.

"What?" he asked seeing her looking at him like a piece of project and he could clearly see the slight anger and irritation in her expression. Rose said "you see always wearing that poker face, you should always smile fir a change".

Kai responded with " you've seen me smile, aren't you satisfied?"

"you literally chase people away with that cold expression of yours" Roseline sighed, she has been friends with Kai from her last year of high school, like now, this was how he acted and even she didn't know how they ended up becoming close friends and moreover they attend the same university and he's one year senior to her.

" also where have you been, I haven't seen you much today "

" I was busy" he responded with a small smile on his face and rose returned it too.

She gave him his snack, one that he was supposed to have earlier this morning. Kai took it from her but instead of saying thank you, he said this instead " why weren't the answering my call?" he questioned as they made their way outside the gate. Both were done with their classes for the day and now they have just a few hours before night time comes.

"You called?" rose was suddenly confused, she reached inside her bag and took out her phone possibly checking for evidence of his call, unlocking her phone, she noticed the missed calls and text messages that came from him, right from this morning. She gave him an apologetic look and said " sorry, my phone was on silent ".

Kai didn't respond and only continued to walk beside her on the side of the road as the duo enjoyed each other's company. " how's class?" Kai asked briefly looking at her before fixing his eyes ahead of him.

Rose replied "the same as always, with the double homework and projects .." she momentarily paused before linking her arm with his, she pointed " let's go get ice cream please ".

She gave him a baby face and in return kai pinched her cheek " there's no need for you to do that,no one is stopping you from taking ice cream "

Once they both the ice cream, with Ross gently taking from hers as they walked together,she checked the time once again and halted in her steps. Noticing she stopped walking Kai asked in curiosity " what's wrong?"

"well, it's almost time for me to pick up Tyler and right after we have to go to Bella's party later "

"alright" Kai nodded staring at the come in his hand before bringing it close to his mouth. Rose rolled her eyes " you are coming along to" she suddenly declared.

He responded "and if I don't want to?" the man raised one of his brows In question. " come on, you are not going to refuse to go to a kid's party and it will be fun, promise no one will play pranks on you ,I'll make sure you enjoy it ", rose tried promising and bargaining in an attempt to convince him to come along.

" I already have plans,I there's next year to come and it's not like I missed last year's party "

"cancel it " she paused and with a curious expression she asked " where are you going?"

Taking the last bite from his ice cream "to visit a friend, I'll be back tomorrow " Kai simply responded then he took her hand for them to start walking again,he then added "you should drink that before it completely melts away "

Rose immediately looked at her ice cream that was already melting covering her hand and making it a mess, she immediately reached for the bottom of the cone in an attempt to stop it from leaking further. She successfully, finished the entire thing but it didn't change the fact that her hand was all covered in cream and sticky. On cue ,Kai gave her his handkerchief for her to use.

"so you are really not coming?" she asked again, her tone a bit sad .

Kai replied " it's a last minute call from a friend, don't worry... " he places his hand on her shoulders and bends down to her height before adding " I'll bring back something for, try to stay out of trouble remember I won't be here to help you out "

Rose nodded in response " okay but don't forget to bring back souvenirs and make it up to me when you get back"

"now that's my good girl" he placed his hand on her head which she smacked away as she giggled. He laughed along with her, the cold look he wore a few minutes ago completely gone as he laughed along with her . Kai has never been this free with someone like the way he was to rose and he didn't want anything ruining their relationship, he was going out for an important reason and it was what he hasn't bothered to tell her yet.

Checking the time once again, before they went their separate ways ,rose said "ill go pick up Tyler, you go and help and your mum, I'm sure she needs your help with work before you leave "

"see you tomorrow " he simply nods

Soon ,she arrived at the school where the children were already moving around and rushing to their parents. Her eyes scanned the area for her little brother until it fell on a boy in dark blue top, some part of his brown hair covering one side of his face but she could tell it was him.

At the moment, he kept himself busy with a chocolate bar whilst ignoring the ones around him. Rose immediately walked up to him and bend down so she could see his face.

The same pair of brown eyes beamed on noticing her "I hope you won't get that with amount of chocolates and sweets you are eating " rose chuckled her eyes fell on the chocolate that just need to be thrown into the mouth in order for it to be finished.

"then tell mum to stop making them "he said licking the chocolate remains of his fingers " let's go home now, I've been waiting here for so long " the young boy urged as he stood on his feet. Tyler was rose's younger and only brother , seven years old by age and a smart one at that. Rose made sure to hold his hand while the walked by the side of the road, honestly she had walked here instead of taking a taxi . Rose carried the boys lunch box while he carried his backpack.

Rose then asked him " will you come with me to Bella's party this evening?" .

Tyler looked up at her , confused at first before responding "was that why she skipped school?"

"hm hm ,she wanted to prepare for the party, so you'll come ,there will be plenty of kids your age and you'll have plenty of fun, there's games too" rose listed with a smile plastered on her face .

Tyler nodded his head and said "but right now I'm hungry "

"when we get home ,you'll have food "she chuckled

The next day, as usual,rose helped her mum at the bakery,it's small but still going smoothly. They lived an average life with Lilah running her bakery and rose assisting with the expenses using Money she gets from working at a restaurant . Their father left when Lilah was pregnant with Tyler so the latter didn't get to see his father and rose was glad about that, Tyler doesn't need to meet the man who didn't think twice before leaving

Taking her shift at the restaurant and taking orders for the customers,rose had s long day working,there was no class ,she has already tended to her classes and has no more for the day .Rose laid down on the bed in her room,she held a magazine in her hand, reading the latest update on what's going on with the celebrities.

She stared at the picture of a woman in a red dress that had a long slit which exposed her smooth and fine legs,the gown was sleeveless and it fell right below her shoulders.

Rose stared at the model that's on the magazine,not only does she looks stunning in that dress,she also have exceptional Beauty. Rose smiled at the thought of also being a model. She has been considering it for a long time but hasn't bothered to bring it up with anyone. She has also been saving up , just in case she wanted to go abroad to pursue her dreams . For now ,she sticked to posting pictures of herself in different dresses and styles of fashion on the internet. It's fun playing dress up with herself and her brother but even she didn't compare herself to the models on the magazine.

The clothes she used were the ones she already owned.

Suddenly,the door was pushed open, breaking her concentration and thoughts. Glancing at the door in time to see her little brother closing it with books in his hand. She shifted her eyes back to the magazine and felt the empty space on her bed press due to Tyler seating on it.

For a while ,none of the siblings said anything and rose didn't bother to say anything to her brother either. This wasn't the first time he has walked into her room particularly fir no reason at all,rose just assumes he's doing his own thing.

"You are always reading these books filled with people we don't even know" Tyler suddenly said, staring at the contents of the magazine.

Rose hummed " of course I know them" saying this ,she started listing the names of the people posted on the magazine, flipping from page to page.

"Who's this one?" Tyler pointed at one that has a blue dress. Rose thought for a while then said " she's new,I'll figure it out" then she realized Tyler was supposed to be doing something else other than staring at this, besides he's too young to stare at adults' magazines

Closing the magazine,rose responded "I'm entertaining myself, what do you want?" she say up and asked him with raised brows. Tyler replied ".I need help with homework " he said raising the book in his hand and flapping it,he pouted as if trying the convince her more.

After helping the young boy in his homeworks,rose decided to step out of the house to get fresh air. She sat down on the bench that's close to a grass Field and overlooks the road. She relaxed and began playing with her phone,but one this he didn't expect was to have company. Out of nowhere, someone came to sit beside her. Rose turned to look at the side only to see a blonde haired girl smiling at her .

"What are you doing?" rose questioned with a sigh,she didn't want anyone coming to irritate her this late in the afternoon. At the same time,she remembered Kai saying he would be back by noon today,and noon has already passed .

The girl named Sarah replied " I'm sitting here , everyone has the right to sit here "

"do what you want, just don't disturb my peace" said rose who continued to scroll through her phone. Sarah was from her school,most of the class they attend were the same,but today's class was different. Rose was glad they always say far away but it didn't stop the way always behaved around her, always trying to get too close with her.

Few minutes passed and Roseline was starting to forget that there's someone sitting beside her when Sarah suddenly said " I noticed you are not with Kai today".

"He's out ,why the curiosity?" Came rose's response.

Sarah didn't say anything for the first few seconds before replying with "I'm just curious but there's also another thing I'm curious about..." She said carefully looking at rose's expression. The latter stared at her with an unfathomable expression "about what?"

"If you and Kai are together"

Seeing rose give her a ' are you kidding ' look with her eyes slightly wide , Sarah quickly said "I just want to confirm it ,after all you are the only one I've ever seen him with"

"Why are you asking?"

"So I can ask him out myself" rose knew the girl wanted them jump on the first opportunity but even she doubts Kai would be entertaining any of her words and it would be really embarrassing.

Rose then clarified " there's nothing between us,like I said earlier do what you want" she said smugly,her time slightly rude,she was starting to get pissed of saying the same thing over and over again
