Ex-wife's Attraction: Winning Her Heart Isn't Easy

Author: : Amye Hochschild
Genre: Romance
In their three years of marriage, Chelsea had been a dutiful wife to Edmund. She used to think that her love and care would someday melt Edmund's cold heart, but she was wrong. Finally, she couldn't take the disappointment any longer and chose to end the marriage. Edmund had always thought that his wife was just boring and dull. So it was shocking when Chelsea suddenly threw divorce papers at his face in front of everyone at the Nelson Group's anniversary party. How humiliating! After that, everyone thought that the formerly-married couple would never see each other again, even Chelsea. Once again, she thought wrong. Sometime later, at an award ceremony, Chelsea went onstage to accept the award for best screenplay. Her ex-husband, Edmund, was the one presenting the award to her. As he handed her the trophy, he suddenly reached for her hand and pleaded humbly in front of the audience, "Chelsea, I'm sorry I didn't cherish you before. Could you please give me another chance?" Chelsea looked at him indifferently. "I'm sorry, Mr. Nelson. My only concern now is my business." Edmund's heart was shattered into a million pieces. "Chelsea, I really can't live without you." But his ex-wife just walked away. Wasn't it better for her to just concentrate on her career? Men would only distract her-especially her ex-husband.

Chapter 1 Did You Have Feelings For Me

"Edmund, you and Chelsea have been married for three years. It's time for you to consider having a child."

The door of the study was ajar, and the old man's earnest voice could be heard.

Edmund Nelson responded coldly, "I will never have a child with a woman I don't love."

Chelsea Williams was outside the door, and she was about to knock. But when she heard this, she suddenly stopped, and her gentle face turned pale.

Edmund's voice sounded again, and this time it was a little more impatient. "Grandpa, again, I solemnly declare that Chelsea and I will never have a child. So please stop nagging me about it."

The old man got angry at once. "You brat!" he scolded. Then there was a sound of a cup being thrown to the floor, followed by the sound of footsteps towards the door.

Chelsea hurriedly hid in the bathroom next door. And because she was in a panic, her waist was accidentally scratched by the sharp edge of the sink.

The tearing pain spread throughout her body, including her heart, making her eyes fill with tears at once. But she wasn't sure if she was crying because of the pain from her wound or the pain from what she overheard in the study.

A few days ago, she received a pregnancy test result from Edmund's first love, Diane Stevenson.

At the same time, there was a message from Diane dripping with sarcasm.

"Chelsea, after being married to Edmund for three years, you still haven't made him fall in love with you. You are such a failure!

You are always by his side, guarding him, but you can't win over his heart. You are the only woman who can do such a humble thing. Where is your self-esteem? Or do you still have it? If I were you, I would have jumped off the building to kill myself."

Before marrying Edmund, Chelsea didn't know about Diane's existence at all.

But on their wedding night, Edmund left Chelsea alone and didn't come back all night. The next day, the news early in the morning was all about him and the famous actress Diane. They were seen checking in and out of the hotel.

It was only then that she realized that her husband already had someone else in his heart.

Ironically, even after she found out, she still had the expectation that they could live happily together. He would take good care of her, and he would sever ties with Diane since they were already married. That was why she resigned from her job and became a housewife.

But unfortunately, nothing changed in the past three years.

Chelsea was still immersed in the memories when the bathroom door was suddenly pushed open, making her stagger back a few steps.

And she saw that the man who walked in was her husband, Edmund.

He had an indifferent expression on his face, and he looked even colder in his black suit. As soon as he saw her, he grabbed her chin unceremoniously. "Was it you who asked Grandpa to urge me to have a baby with you? Chelsea, you have become more and more cunning over the years."

Before Chelsea could say anything, Edmund's eyes became colder as he continued, "Three years ago, you set me up for you to become my wife. Now, you wanted to use a child, so you can stay with me and my family for the rest of your life, didn't you?"

The expression on her face changed. She pressed her lips tightly for a while before she said, "No, I didn't."

"You didn't? Then why did you eavesdrop on my conversation with Grandpa? You only wanted to confirm if I would agree, right?"

Edmund's eyes were full of mockery, and he sneered, "I'm sorry to disappoint you. But you heard it right. And from the very start, you already know my attitude towards you. Chelsea, let me tell you, you don't deserve to be the mother of my child."

Such cruel words from Edmund made Chelsea clench her fists tightly. She was so angry that she didn't even notice her nails had already dug deep into her palms.

She always knew the fact that Edmund didn't love her. But when she heard directly from his mouth that she didn't deserve to be the mother of his child, she felt like thousands of arrows pierced her heart.

For three years, she had conscientiously performed her duty as a wife, and she never dared to slack off.

She thought she could slowly melt his heart through her efforts. But now, she realized that his heart was an iceberg that she couldn't melt no matter what she did.

"Edmund, for three years... Did you have feelings for me, even just a little bit?"

Chelsea's voice was very low, and her body was shaking violently. It was as if she had used up all her strength and courage.

Such a humble question made Edmund feel strange, but it was just fleeting.

Coldness filled his eyes again as he asked back, "What do you think?"

The mockery and disdain in his voice pierced through Chelsea's heart like a knife. She was almost numb with pain.

Chapter 2 Let's Divorce

Chelsea felt like her hope was shattered in an instant.

All she had given and done for Edmund in the past three years had become a joke at this moment.

"I understand." After saying this, Chelsea turned around and left the bathroom.

Her receding figure was desolate, but there seemed to be a trace of determination. Edmund subconsciously took a step forward, but soon stopped as his eyes darkened when he thought of the tricks she had played on him.

It was dinnertime in the Nelson family's mansion, but Chelsea was not in the mood to eat. So she found an excuse and asked the driver to send her back to Edmund's villa.

On the way home, she was a little dazed. Her mind was a mess. Should she give up now?

Now that Diane was pregnant, it would only be a matter of time before Edmund divorced her. Did she have to wait for that time to come?

Chelsea realized it was time to end everything. For three years, she fulfilled her duties and obligations as a wife. She did everything she could to save their marriage, so she had nothing to regret.

As soon as she got home, she took a shower and went to bed.

She was already sleeping soundly when she suddenly felt that someone bite her lips fiercely. Then he kissed her, but it was lustful and punishing.

Chelsea didn't need to open her eyes to know who he was. The familiar breath told her it was Edmund. But why did he come back? Shouldn't he be having a great time with Diane now?

Then she remembered that Diane was pregnant. It might be inconvenient for them to have sex.

Suddenly, Chelsea didn't feel sleepy anymore. She pushed the person on her body down, turned on the bedside lamp, and got out of bed.

Chelsea pulled up the messy collar of her pajamas and stood barefoot beside the bed. She looked at Edmund, who was sitting on the bed with a gloomy face, and said, "Edmund, let's divorce."

"What are you talking about? Stop making a scene!" As he spoke, Edmund's cold face was full of displeasure and impatience.

Chelsea took a deep breath, suppressed the bitterness in her heart, and repeated what she had just said. "I'm serious. Let's divorce."

This time, Edmund's face darkened.

He adjusted his posture, leaned against the headboard, squinted at her, and asked, "Are you sure?"

Chelsea pursed her lips and said nothing. Didn't that silence mean yes?

Edmund sneered, "Chelsea, do you need me to remind you again? The company run by your father and useless brother can't even make ends meet. If I didn't take care of them in the past few years, they would have gone bankrupt."

Hearing his harsh words, Chelsea trembled all over, and her face flushed with shame.

He was actually right. If it weren't for the fact that her father's and brother's company was going bankrupt, she wouldn't have walked into her father's trap and married him.

But she plucked up the courage to say, "I don't care about it anymore. I have sold myself to you for three years and tried everything to help them. I don't need to feel guilty or anything."

It seemed that dark clouds instantly gathered and shrouded Edmund's face. "You compare our marriage in the past three years to a deal?"

"Is it not?" Chelsea looked at him with tears in her eyes. "You love someone else, and you don't have any feelings for me. I'm nothing but a sex partner to you. So what's the difference between selling myself to you and marrying you in the past three years?"

"Okay. If that's what you want, then good." Edmund gnashed his teeth in anger, and his tone was filled with terrifying coldness.

"But Chelsea, let me remind you. If you divorce me, you will not be Mrs. Nelson anymore. You will lose everything you have now."

The contempt and ridicule in his voice irritated Chelsea. She looked into his frightening eyes, gave him a soft and beautiful smile, and said stubbornly, "Thank you for reminding me. I have hands and feet. Even if I collect trash or clean the bathroom for a living, I won't starve myself to death."

She also graduated from a famous university. But as soon as she graduated, she married Edmund and became a full-time housewife. She gave up her career for him.

Edmund sneered again, "Okay, go to the study at half past eight tomorrow morning. My lawyer will be there to let you sign the divorce agreement."

Chapter 3 Enjoy Sex With Him

Since they had agreed to divorce, Chelsea thought she could no longer stay in the same room with Edmund. So she turned around and left.

But before she could even take a few steps, she was forcefully pulled back to the bed. She was unprepared, so she immediately fell down. And when she was about to stand up again, Edmund's tall and strong body pressed on her.

Chelsea struggled hard to break free. "Didn't you already agree to the divorce? What is this you're doing now?"

The corners of Edmund's mouth curved into a cold smile. He said, "You are still my wife until we both sign the divorce agreement."

Chelsea was rendered speechless. She could only press her lips tightly.

Then Edmund's passionate and domineering kisses landed all over her crazily. It was as if he was going to swallow her alive.

From her collarbone, up to her shoulder, and to her lips.

His fiery lips touched every inch of her body.

Edmund's overbearing movements suddenly made Chelsea not want to resist.

He was a handsome man with a well-built figure. Most of all, he was excellent in bed. After they divorced, she probably couldn't find a man like him. So why didn't she enjoy sex with him now?

She raised her slender arms, wrapped them around his neck, and passionately responded to his kisses.

Later, she even took the initiative to turn over and press Edmund under her.

In the three years that they were married, she had never been bold and active like now. She had always been shy, reserved, and quiet both in life and in bed.

So all her actions now stunned Edmund a little. He had never seen her like this before. Having been aroused, his breathing became even heavier.

Chelsea couldn't help blushing when she heard him gasp. But she made up her mind. She cupped his face in her hands and kissed him.

Edmund and Chelsea had never had sex as wonderful as tonight. Chelsea was not sure if it was because of her enthusiasm. After all, this was the first time she took the initiative.

When Chelsea woke up the next day, Edmund was no longer at home. She thought he should have gone early in the morning to meet his lawyer.

She went to the bathroom to freshen up. Then she had breakfast and waited for Edmund in the living room. She knew he would come back soon.

Chelsea had been waiting for half an hour now but Edmund still hadn't shown up.

She gave him another half an hour, but there was still no sign of him. So she took out her phone and called him. "What time will you be home?"

"I'm in Entosea now," Edmund replied indifferently.

"What?" Chelsea exclaimed. She was surprised and a little annoyed at the same time. "Didn't you say we would sign the divorce agreement at half past eight today?"

"Something happened to the project here, so I rushed over early in the morning. Let's talk about the divorce when I come back," Edmund said coldly. He then hung up the phone without waiting for Chelsea to reply.

Chelsea squeezed the phone in her hand, feeling a fire burning in her heart.

She was really unimportant to him. He could stand her up at will even though they were getting divorced.

Chelsea stayed in the living room for a while to calm herself down. Then she changed her dress, hailed a taxi outside, and went to her friend, Zuri White's house.

Zuri was a glamorous actress who was also very popular.

When Zuri heard that Chelsea finally decided to divorce Edmund, she gave Chelsea a big hug and said, "Congratulations! You are about to get rid of that scumbag."

Chelsea was rendered speechless by Zuri's exaggeration. But she shouldn't be surprised anymore. After all, Zuri had always been transparent that she was dissatisfied with her marriage with Edmund.

Zuri poured a glass of red wine for Chelsea and said earnestly, "I have been persuading you to leave him for a long time. You are still young. A better life awaits you ahead. As soon as you get rid of him, start a new life. I know many handsome men in the entertainment industry. I can introduce them to you after your divorce."

Chelsea immediately shook her head. "No, no, no. I don't want to have a relationship with a celebrity. I don't want to be in a relationship with anyone either."

Chelsea looked a little dejected when she said this. The three years of marriage with Edmund had really hurt her very badly.

Zuri exclaimed regretfully, "What? You are such a talented and beautiful woman. How can you just waste it? It's a pity that you won't date anyone in the future."

Chelsea looked at the red wine in her glass and muttered, "What's so good about men? I'd rather focus on my career in the future."

She wanted to prove that she could live a good life even without Edmund. That she was not dependent on him.

Zuri's eyes lit up when she heard Chelsea mention her career. "By the way, our company offers an opportunity to study scriptwriting abroad. If you are determined to start a career, I will help you apply."
