"Sophia, stop staring" Nancy hissed, her voice laced with annoyance. "He's way out of your league."
Sophia sighed, pouting her lips at the mesmerizing figure of the CEO waltzing his way through the receptionist hall, a flicker of sadness crossing her eyes.
"I know, Nancy," Sophia mumbled, her gaze lingering on the handsome figure of Benjamin Hayes, "But he is ridiculously attractive."
"And completely unobtainable," Nancy retorted. Just then, the manager's voice boomed through the lobby, snapping them both to attention.
"Are you two gossiping instead of working? Get back to it!" he barked.
"Yes, sir" they replied in unison, getting started on their individual work. The rest of the day crawled by in a blur of fielding phone calls and welcoming guest. Three minutes until their shift neared its end, the phone rang.
" Hayes Hotels, how may I help you?" Sophia picked up.
"Hi," a smooth voice replied. "Can I get a bottle of whiskey and some ice sent up to the penthouse?"
Sophia's breath hitched. The penthouse? That meant... "Certainly, sir. What brand of whiskey would that be, sir?"
"A Macallan," the voice chuckled.
Sophia's heart hammered in her chest. Mr. Hayes himself? In a daze, she confirmed the order and hung up.
"You'll never guess who just called!" she exclaimed, whirling towards Nancy.
"Can we just go? I'm beat." Nancy responded, already gathering her things.
"It was Mr. Benjamin Hayes!" Sophia blurted.
Nancy's eyes widened. "Seriously? You're delivering his order?"
"To the penthouse!" Sophia exclaimed, buzzing with disbelief.
"Wow!" Nancy murmured. "I'll wait for you outside, hurry up!" She responded.
Sophia squealed internally, her heart racing with anticipation as she made her way to the wine cellar. The bustling hotel kitchen seemed to fade away as she descended the staircase, her steps echoing on the cool, concrete floor. She reached the bottom, surrounded by row upon row of gleaming wine and alcohol bottles in different shapes and sizes.
Consulting the catalog for the whiskey she came for, she carefully made her way through the aisles, taking her time to admire the labels and read the descriptions of each vintage.
After several minutes of browsing, her eyes fell upon the Macallan bottle containing a rich, mahogany-colored liquid. She reached out and picked it up, observing it with keen interest. The label was a work of art in itself, with intricate designs and elegant calligraphy. The glass was smooth and cool to the touch.
Satisfied, Sophia carefully placed the bottle in her cart and made her way back up to the main level. She stopped to pick up a bucket of ice, knowing that the drink would be best served chilled, and added it to the cart.
She stepped into the elevator and took a deep breath and tried to steady her nerves. She clicked on the button for the penthouse and waited patiently as the elevator ascended, the bottle of rich, mahogany liquid safely cradled in her cart.
Finally, the doors opened once again, but directly into the penthouse suite, she stepped out into the vast space, her breath catching in her throat at the sight of the luxurious surroundings.
"Leave it on the table ," a voice instructed.
She followed the sound of the voice from the wall to ceiling windows. It was Mr. Hayes, now minus his suit jacket with his hair slightly tousled, with a phone to his ear.
Sophia stammered a response, stealing glances around the room as she complied with his instructions.
"Wow," she breathed, her voice barely a whisper.
"Thank you. You can go." He acknowledged, giving her a curt nod.
She gave a soft bow and took the elevator down to where she came from completely dazed. For four years she had been working here, and in those four years she had never answered a call from him until today, and not only that she was privileged to visit his penthouse. She let out a shaky breath trying to keep her composure as she walked back to the receptionist area to pack up her things.
Nancy lounged sprawled across an armchair, the picture of nonchalance. But Sophia could see a flicker of curiosity beneath the carefully constructed facade.
"Sophia !" Nancy perked up practically oozing with Curiosity battled with a hint of skepticism in her gaze.
"Nancy, you wouldn't believe it," she gushed, her memory of the place still vivid. "It was like stepping into a glossy magazine! And the view from the window seemed to stretch on forever, like a vast, endless horizon. I felt like..." She trailed off, searching for the right words to capture the sheer extravagance of the place. "Like a .... a queen in a palace!"
"Sounds fancy," she mumbled, her eyes already scanning the exit. "Can we go now? I'm starving."
"Alright, fine grumpy" Sophia responded, while Nancy gave her a deadpan look.
____
The cab ride home was a blur of city lights and Sophia's excited chatter and Nancy's halfhearted hums.
"I'll just hop in the shower," Nancy declared immediately. The cab pulled to a stop at their apartment. Sophia paid the cab driver with an appreciative smile and then also made her way into their shared apartment.
Left alone in the living room, Sophia busied herself with dinner preparations. Taking her time to keep herself grounded in the present.
The sound of the bathroom door opening caught her attention, and she looked up to see Nancy stepping out.
"Hey" Sophia said, smiling at her friend. " You seem awfully in a better mood?" She teased.
"Don't try to be a sassy girl," Nancy replied, squeezing her hair in the small towel. "You know I always feel so much better after a good shower."
Sophia nodded, "I know what you mean. Dinner is ready now. Are you ready to eat now?"
"Definitely," Nancy responded, her stomach grumbling in agreement. "What are we having?"
"I made some spaghetti with meatballs". She responded.
"That sounds perfect," Nancy replied, walking into the kitchen. "You always make the best food."
-----
They sat down at the table, and Sophia served up the spaghetti. Sophia took a few bites before her mind was transported to her obscene crush on her boss again. She poked and prodded her food lost in the memory of him and occasionally let out a dreamy sigh.
"Sophia ," Nancy called out gently, her voice laced with concern.
"Yeah" she responded absentmindedly.
"You seem a little...out of it. Everything alright?" Nancy queried.
Sophia forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired, I guess." But the words sounded hollow even to her own ears.
"Listen," Nancy responded sternly, "infatuation can be blinding. This guy, he's rich and lives in a penthouse. Don't let that cloud your judgment, okay? He's our boss before anything else. Don't do anything stupid". She scolded.
"I know what I'm doing, Nancy. Sophia bristled, a defensive edge creeping into her voice. It's not that deep."
"I know you, Sophia, and you look..."
"I'm no longer hungry" Sophia interrupted, cutting her off. She threw her cutlery down and stood up, forcefully sending the chair flying back. She then stormed off to her bedroom like a cranky teenager.
She laid on the bed tossing and turning as images after images of Benjamin assaulted her senses. The warmth of his gaze, it all felt so real, so alive, his smile, his laugh, the way his eyes had crinkled at the corners when he'd looked at her. A shiver danced down her spine, both exhilarating and terrifying.
Tossing aside the sheet, she rose, drawn to the familiar comfort of her drawer. The cool metal of the vibrator sent a jolt through her as she ran her fingers along its surface. Taking a deep breath, she lowered her pants down her leg and then slid off her underwear. With a quick check to ensure her door was securely locked, she settled onto the bed. Activating the device, she felt the gentle vibration course through her body. She teased herself, allowing the sensation to dance across her skin, igniting every nerve ending. Lost at the moment, she let her mind wander, imagining herself in his office.
Sharing heated, fervent kisses, they indulged in each other's passion. She emitted a low, guttural groan as her imagination intensified, prompting her to increase the vibrator's speed. Envisioning him tearing her shirt away, she quivered with anticipation as he lavished attention on one nipple while toying with the other. With each passing moment, her panting grew more intense, the heat between her thighs becoming almost unbearable. In her mind's eye, he took control, bending her over and driving into her with unrelenting force, mercilessly. The vivid imagery spurred her on, fueling her movements with trembling breaths as she pleasured herself with the vibrator. As she reached the pinnacle of ecstasy, she felt the familiar warmth of climax spreading across her bedsheets. Exhaling deeply, she allowed the vibrator to come to rest before withdrawing it and switching it off.
After her intense release, she gathered the bedsheet, tossing it into the laundry basket with practiced ease. With a sense of satisfaction, she carefully picked up the vibrator, mindful of its lingering warmth, and headed to the bathroom to wash it off.
She stepped into the soothing warmth of the shower that enveloped her, cocooning her in a comforting embrace. Droplets danced across her skin, tracing paths down her curves and washing away the remnants of desire. She closed her eyes, allowing the steam to seep into her pores, loosening any lingering tension.
Reaching for her favorite body wash, she squeezed a generous amount onto her loofah, relishing its soothing scent as she lathered it over her skin. With gentle yet deliberate movements, she massaged the suds into every inch of her body.
The rhythmic sound of the water echoed against the tiles. She tilted her head back, allowing the water to cascade over her face, feeling its gentle caress soothe her senses.
After thoroughly cleansing herself, she rinsed off, letting the water wash away the remnants of soap. With a satisfied sigh, she turned off the faucet, stepping out onto the plush bath mat.
She emerged from the bathroom, feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. She dried herself off and slipped into a comfortable set of pajamas.
With her nighttime routine complete, she retreated to her bed, the faint scent of cum lingering in the air. She pulled back the covers of her bed, invitingly soft and welcoming, and settled in for the night. With a gentle sigh, she surrendered to the embrace of sleep, her breathing slowing as she drifted off into slumber.
The first tendrils of dawn began to caress the edges of the curtains, Sophia's eyelids fluttered open, greeted by the gentle glow of the rising sun. There was a palpable sense of anticipation in the air, mingled with the remnants of sleep that still clung to her senses. With a determined exhalation, she pushed aside the warmth of her covers. Swinging her legs over the edge of the bed, she planted her feet firmly on the cool floor, allowing its touch to ground her in the reality of the day ahead. She trudged to Nancy's room to wake her up.
She knocked at her door softly. After a few minutes of no response, she pushed the door open and entered into the room and gently shook her.
"Come on, Nancy. Wake up. We can't afford to be late for our shift. We need to start getting ready now," Sophia announced determinedly.
"Okay... Give me a few minutes", Nancy sluggishly responded to Sophia .
"Few minutes my ass, get your ass up right now", Sophia dragged her off the bed.
"Okay okay. I'm fully awake! Geez. Get out of my room. I'll be done in a jiffy" Nancy responded grumpily.
Moment later.
"Okay Sophia , I'm done. Let's get going", Nancy announced, after keeping Sophia waiting an extra twenty minutes.
"Finally!!!" Sophia replied. "I just hope we ain't late for the next bus".
"Why do you worry a lot? Just be calm. We are not going to miss the next bus", Nancy reassured her.
Sophia chuckled. "Always the optimist, Nancy."
Their laughter echoed through the quiet hallway as they headed towards another day at Hayes Hotels.
Some hours later
The reception phone rang and Sophia was there to pick up the call.
"Hello, Hayes hotel. How can I be of assistance to you today" she asked with a sweet, appealling tone.
"Sophia ," he called out, his voice a low rumble that sent a jolt through her. "Can I speak with you for a moment?"
Sophia's heart hammered against her ribs. "M-me, sir?"
"Yes, you," he confirmed. "Come straight up to the penthouse, please."
"Yes Sir, I'll be there in a jiffy" she responded with a hint of excitement. Hanging the phone, without wasting much time, she rushed into the elevator.
"Nancy, I'll be right back" she said, giving hand gestures from the elevator.
Getting to the penthouse, she stood at the entrance intertwining her fingers to hide her nervousness.
"You can come in", Benjamin said with a smile on his face. "Yeah!, have a seat." He instructed, pointing to a soft, large cushion chair.
"Thank you sir" she responded, filled with hidden happiness.
"This is a bit unorthodox," Benjamin began, his gaze meeting hers. "But I overheard a conversation a few days ago. You were discussing data analysis with a colleague, weren't you?"
Sophia's cheeks flushed a warm red. She hadn't realized anyone had overheard their casual conversation. "Yes, sir," she stammered. "We were just comparing notes on a research project we both did in college."
"What can I do for you, Mr. Hayes?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Benjamin pinched the bridge of his nose, frustration etched on his face. "There's a presentation I have to give tomorrow night at a tech conference. Unfortunately, my usual assistant is down with the flu, and the data for a crucial segment is...missing."
Sophia's brow furrowed. "Missing? How can that be?"
"Apparently, there was a system glitch a few days ago," Benjamin explained, running a hand through his hair. "The IT department is scrambling to recover it, but they're not optimistic."
Sophia's mind raced. This was her chance, a chance to showcase her abilities beyond greeting guests and booking reservations. Yet, a wave of doubt washed over her. "But the presentation," she stammered, "is it about...?"
"Advanced hotel security protocols," Benjamin finished. "It's a new initiative we're rolling out, and this conference is a big deal."
Sophia straightened, a flicker of determination replacing her nervousness. "Mr. Hayes," she began, her voice gaining strength, "I actually worked on a very similar project during my senior year at college. I developed a program that..."
For the next ten minutes, Sophia spoke with a fervor she hadn't felt since her academic days. She explained the intricacies of her project, how it mirrored the missing data Hayes needed, and how she could potentially adapt it in a short time frame.
He listened intently as he tackled her with questions, each one answered with increasing confidence by Sophia . By the end, the tension in the room had dissipated, replaced by a sense of mutual respect.
"This is...impressive, Sophia ," he admitted, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I wouldn't normally entrust such a task to someone outside my immediate team, but you've certainly piqued my interest."
Sophia felt a surge of gratitude. "I understand, sir. But if you're willing to give me a chance, I promise I won't let you down."
Hayes studied her for a moment, his eyes assessing. "Alright, Sophia . Here's the deal. I'll provide you with all the available data and background information. You work your magic overnight, and by tomorrow morning, we'll see if your program can salvage the presentation."
Excitement bubbled within Sophia , but she tempered it with professionalism. "Thank you, Mr. Hayes. I won't disappoint you."
As she left the conference room, Sophia held her head high. For the first time, she wasn't just the receptionist, but someone with a valuable skillset, someone Benjamin Hayes acknowledged.
Back at her desk, she barely registered Nancy's questions about the hurried meeting. Her mind was already diving into the information he provided. Sophia found herself consumed by a fierce determination to complete her task. With her fingers moving across the keyboard, she adapted her code to meet the specific requirements of Hayes Hotels. She was so engrossed that she lost track of time.
"Sophia !!, It's time to go home", Nancy informed her with a tone of urgency.
"A few minutes more please", Sophia responded.
"Few minutes?? You've been at this .... since you returned from the penthouse.
Gosh! What the heck are you doing with this system? We got to go now!!" Nancy voiced out
"Okay, okay. Calm down, I'll shut down and pack up, geez", she responded.
She quickly saved what she was doing, sent it to her laptop email and shut the system down. Okay, I'm done, let's go!.
Getting home, Nancy went straight to bed as she had a very hectic day and Sophia took a quick bath and continued what she was working on. She kept herself active by fueling herself with coffee periodically, she pushed herself to meet the tight deadline. Despite the hours that passed, she continued to put all her efforts into delivering the best possible results.
Dawn broke out in a burst of several shades of orange hue. Sophia let out a triumphant sigh and pumped her first in the air. She'd done it, and she felt like a proud mother, but exhaustion gnawed at her, yet the sense of accomplishment far outweighed it.
"Oh! It's almost time". She jumped up and rushed into the bathroom. Without wasting time, she was out of the bathroom. It took her time to select her outfit for the day: a wine silk shirt and Palazzo pants with a black stilleto. She checked the mirror and said to herself, "You've got this covered Sophia , don't be nervous."
"Nancy!!, Still sleeping??" She inquired as she poked her head into Nancy's room to check on her.
"Is it morning already, the night has become really short recently", Nancy mumbled with reluctancy to leave her bed.
"Seems.. I won't be able to wait for you today, I have a presentation to show Mr Benjamin, and it's almost time." Sophia informed her.
"Okay then.. We will see at work", Nancy responded, waving dismissively at her.
"Okay, take care of yourself" Sophia responded. Then she dashed out of the apartment.
Sophia got to work earlier than her normal time. Walking in, she saw Hayes having a discussion with some board members in the receptionist hall. She took several calming breaths before walking up to them.
"Good morning Mr Hayes". She greeted. "And, good morning to you sir's"
"Good morning Sophia . It's nice that you're here, but these are some important persons here, and I'm currently busy. You can send your work via mail. Once I get to the office, I'll review it and give you feedback."
"Alright sir" she responded, feeling a tad bit deflated. She ventured to the receptionist's desk, started up the computer and logged in for the day. She sent him the file via his company email and began her work for the day.
"Sophia , Mr Hayes wants to see you in his office now", Nancy announced, holding the office phone to her ear.
"Really" she mouthed. Nancy nodded in affirmation.
Sophia quickly straightened, without another word, she made her way to his office.
On getting there, she was escorted in by the secretary. Again, the sheer size and the space of his office wasn't at all surprising. It was a workplace befitting of a CEO.
He gestured for her to sit, and she silently complied, sinking into the office chair.
"Sophia ," he began, his voice serious, "...you've saved the day," he finished with a faint smile. "This presentation is infinitely better thanks to your work. You have a sharp mind and a dedication that's commendable."
Sophia could only nod, a blush creeping up her cheeks. The compliment, delivered in his deep, smooth voice, sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach.
"However," he continued, his smile fading slightly, "this doesn't change your position as a receptionist. But," he added, seeing the disappointment flicker across her face, "it does open some doors. I'll speak to HR about a potential opportunity within the IT department, something that utilizes your skills more effectively."
"Thank you, Mr. Hayes," she replied sincerely, her voice brimming with gratitude. "I won't let you down."
He gave her a curt nod, a hint of something unreadable flickering in his eyes, before dismissing her. The rest of the day was a blur for Sophia . She went through the motions of greeting guests and answering calls, but her mind kept replaying the events of the past twenty-four hours.
"Alright, spill it," Nancy demanded, leaning in conspiratorially. "What was that whole hush-hush meeting with Mr. Hayes about?"
Sophia took a deep breath and launched into a detailed explanation, her voice animated with excitement as she described the missing data, her solution, and the potential opportunity within the IT department. Nancy listened intently, her initial skepticism giving way to genuine surprise.
"Wow, Sophia ," she breathed when Sophia finished. "That's incredible! I always knew you were brilliant, but this... this is amazing!"
A grin stretched across Sophia's face. For the first time in weeks, a genuine smile, not a mask of forced cheer. "It is, isn't it?"
"So, what happens next?" Nancy asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Sophia shrugged. "I don't know exactly. But for the first time in a long time," she admitted, "I feel hopeful. Like maybe... maybe things are finally starting to look up."
