Chapter 1 Marry A Mysterious Husband

"Hmm..."

In a spacious and luxurious room, the light was dim.

A woman tried to move her body. Her arms had numbed down.

Her eyebrows knitted together. What happened to her?

Lola Li frowned, trying squint her eyes, only to see an infinite abyss of darkness. Why were her eyes covered?

'Oh my God!

It's so... hot.'

Lola Li struggled to sit up from the cushions only for her wrist to be grabbed by someone else.

She gasped, feeling the coldness of her skin.

"Don't move."

A cold voice sounded right beside her.

"Wh– who are you?"

Her voice trembled as she struggled under his grip. "What do you want to do with–humph!"

She felt his lips on hers!

His tongue darted across her bottom lip, forcing her to open up.

Her body was already getting hotter and hotter with each searing kiss.

Lola Li wanted to pull away, but she found that her body was telling a different story.

Tears streamed down her face as he continued his ministrations.

"No...no..."

she whispered and shook

as the man's fingers trailed across her skin.

What was even more embarrassing was the fact that Lola Li's eyes were covered by a piece of cloth. She couldn't see a thing!

She didn't even know what the man looked like!

"What can I do to make you let me go?" she cried out.

There was a small pause.

"It's too late."

She could feel his breath fanning her ears as he whispered,

"Good girl."

Before she could respond, his hands slowly slid down her waist, going under and under till...

"Mrs. Lola, wake up!"

Lola Li furrowed her eyebrows at the sound.

Was someone else in the room?

"Mrs. Lola!" Lola Li finally opened her eyes as she blinked sleepily.

Ah.

It turned out that everything had just been a dream.

She sighed in relief, patting her chest. Waves of sunlight peered through the window frames, making her eyes crinkle and narrow as they adjusted to daylight.

"Mrs. Lola, we've finally arrived," the one said again. She could already hear a trace of annoyance wrapped around her tone.

'Huh? What the hell?'

Lola Li immediately jolted up, looking around.

The leather seats of the luxurious Lincoln car cooled down her warm temperature as she fanned herself.

She furrowed her eyebrows. Why was she here? "Ah, we're... Where are we exactly?"

The maid cautiously approached her. She whispered in her ear. "MLY Garden, ma'am."

'Oh shit!

How could she forget?'

Lola Li finally came back to her senses! This was her wedding day!

Thanks to her snobbish stepmother, she was forced to marry the most mysterious man in the A Country today.

It was said that the man kept close ties with the government as well as the underworld. He could even be part of the mafia if she listened to even more ridiculous rumors. However, one thing was for sure – he was a man with omnipotent power.

Lola Li bit her lips anxiously

as the luxury car stopped at the gates of the villa.

Led by the maid, Lola Li walked inside the villa. Even by looking at the outdoors, the house was prestigious. A part of her wondered how she could go around the place without getting lost herself.

"Mr. Basil is waiting for you."

She walked up the stairs of the villa, stopping at a long corridor. The main turned, bowed respectfully, and left.

'What should I do?'

Lola blinked, gaping at the rooms before her. 'Which room should I go into? Or...

should I just run away while no one is looking?' she thought, digging her nails into her palm.

Just as she was about to turn around and walk away, a click sounded right beside her.

"You're late."

A cold voice sounded from the room next to her.

She stumbled back.

Before she could come to her senses, the man pulled her by the wrist and dragged her into the room.

Lola let out a muffled scream as the door was shut behind her.

"Let me go!" she yelled out.

However, the man didn't look like he cared as he pressed against her body with his hands around her waist.

"Mr.– Mr. Basil?"

She narrowed her eyes under the dim light.

He pursed his lips, eyes flashing with arrogance and indifference. Basil Bai looked like a Greek god. Although his features were indeed very regal, there was something about his aura that would make anyone step back in fear.

"Who do you think it is?"

He scowled,

lifting her chin up.

There was something in his eyes that screamed arrogance. It was as if he was expecting the whole world to come crawling at his feet.

Lola was flustered at his appearance. In fact, she was so intimidated that she couldn't even string proper words together.

"I..." she stuttered out.

"Didn't they tell you what to do before you came here?" He raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sorry, what?"

Lola pursed her lips. All she knew was that this was her first day as a married woman. It wasn't as if her snobbish stepmom would delight her with the details.

Seeing that she knew absolutely nothing, his face darkened.

Without another word, he gripped her wrist even tighter and dragged her inside.

"Shit!"

she bit out. "Be gentle. It hurts."

Basil sneered. "Shut up."

They stopped at his desk.

He reached out and grabbed a document from one of his drawers. From what Lola could see, Basil Bai was a well-organized man.

He slapped the paper onto her hands.

"What's this?"

she asked, startled.

"Contract."

His finger tapped against a section of the said contract, narrowing his eyes.

"You get two years. Once the baby's born, you can leave," he stated.

Lola's jaw dropped as she scanned the document. Words couldn't even describe how surprised and confused she was on her predicament.

Chapter 2 On The Top Search!

The words on the contract stung her eyes like hundreds of bees. This marriage would finish after she gave birth to a baby in two years. She stared in disbelief.

A baby. He wanted her to give birth to a child? Lola curled her lips.

He only agreed to marry her just so she could produce the next generation for the Bai Family?

'No wonder.' She scowled.

It was her sister who was supposed to marry this man, but her stepmother decided that she was the so-called 'better option' for this union.

She paled.

"What? You're unwilling?"

Seeing that she was about to cry, Basil Bai narrowed his eyes in contempt. He took a step forward.

"No."

Lola immediately shook her head.

She immediately held the contract in her hands. Mixed emotions flashed in her eyes as she scanned the superscript written on the document.

It was all clear.

As his wife, she was only here to provide one obligation – give him a kid.

For two years, she would be his wife by day,

and they would make love at night – at least, till she produced a child.

Now that her stepmother forced her into this, what else could she do?

Lola bit her lips, wanting to say yes, but it felt like a ball was stuck in her throat.

"I–"

Her phone rang, interrupting her.

Lola's face flushed in embarrassment. Who would pick this hour to call her? Her fingers curled into a fist as she picked up the phone from her pocket.

Glancing at Basil Bai, she answered.

"Lola! This is bad news." Some screamed from the other end of the line.

Lola straightened her back.

"What's wrong?"

"Have you went online today?" Anna Gu said anxiously. "The news...about your sister. It's out..."

'What?'

Lola checked the current news, only to see a familiar name and a familiar face.

Antonia Li's engagement was all over the internet.

Lola's lips quivered as she clicked on an article.

"Today, Antonia Li, a well-known actress, announces her engagement with the second son of the Su Family. They will hold their engagement party at the JN Garden."

Lola froze, staring at the article.

Antonia Li – her sister but only nominally.

She was supposed to marry Basil Bai today. She was the one who was supposed to sign this blasted contract in carrying the Bai's Family line.

Now, she was proudly smiling at the camera.

She was engaged.

And the worst part of it all was that she was engaged to Lola's ex-boyfriend–

Samuel Su.

Lola chuckled. She was such a loser. She didn't even know when her ex-boyfriend hooked up with her sister.

Thinking about it, she snorted to herself, wanting nothing more than to log out of her phone. However, something caught her eyes.

'What?

Wait!'

She froze.

Lola flipped to another article, finding her name at one of the headlines. Her eyes widened. Had she read it wrong?

She refreshed her page several times

only to find that it wasn't an illusion.

'Samuel and Lola? Are They Together?' She almost choked at the headline,

scanning it almost immediately.

Photos of Samuel and Lola were all over the internet. The article read, "Samuel was said to have an affair with the superstar's younger sister? What a mess!"

The comments section was also a mess.

"How dare you steal your sister's man?" "That shameless bitch! If you agree, like my comment."

"I heard that Lola seduced him. Ew. What a slut."

"I feel so sorry for Antonia."

Lola's face darkened at the comments.

They obviously had it the other way around.

It was Antonia Li who took her boyfriend from her!

"How long are you going to stand there?"

Without another word, Basil took her phone from her.

He glanced at the screen casually. When he scanned the news, his face darkened almost immediately.

"I didn't expect such a scandal,"

he mused. Although he acted casually, there was something in his eyes that just screamed 'murder'.

"It's not..."

She wanted to explain, but just one look at him rendered her silent.

"What happened?" Basil pinched her chin and

forced her to raise her head.

'What should I do?'

She wanted to tell him everything: how Antonia had caused trouble for her, how she was forced into this mess, and how everything in her life was threatening to fall apart.

But even if she said it all,

what was the use? The engagement party was happening anyway and...

Shit! The engagement party!

Suddenly, something occurred to her. She clapped her hands together.

"Mr. Basil, you want a baby right?"

Lola motioned at the contract on the table. Her eyes were shining, similar to glittering diamonds. "Look, I'll agree. All I have is just one request."

"And who are you to bargain with me?"

Basil narrowed his eyes.

Lola trembled at his gaze,

but she quickly steadied herself.

She raised her eyebrows and pointed at the contract with her slender finger. "It's up to you whether you'll listen to me or not, but as for the baby..."

Lola paused for two seconds before smiling brightly. "Well, you can't do it alone."

He gritted his teeth, wanting nothing more than to shut this woman up,

but he kept himself at bay.

"What's your request?"

"It's very simple!"

She smirked, motioning to her phone. "Go to the engagement party with me."

Chapter 3 An Encounter

"Antonia's engagement party?"

Basil raised his eyebrows.

As soon as Lola said what she needed to say, he understood her completely.

Antonia was her sister, so she was required to go.

However, with all the news circulating on the internet, people would continually mock her throughout the night.

The smartest choice would be to take him with her.

Basil's lips curved slightly.

This woman was interesting.

"Yes,"

Lola said, nodding her head. "I'll sign it if you go with me."

There was a round of silence as Basil stared deep into her eyes.

Finally, he said the word that she had been waiting to hear!

"Deal."

Without another thought,

Lola picked up the pen and signed her name on the contract.

From now on, she was the wife of the most mysterious man in the A Country.

"My assistant will bring you shopping. I'll pick you up later,"

he said coldly.

He quickly made a phone call to his assistant and asked her to pick Lola up in his estate. Obviously, she needed to look presentable at the engagement party.

"Okay." Lola nodded.

Seeing her obedient face and plump lips, Basil's gaze clouded over.

Suddenly, he stretched out his arm and wrapped it around her waist, pulling her in.

"Ah!" Lola made a sound of surprise as she found herself against his chest.

'What the hell?' she thought.

Before she could utter another word, he pressed his lips against hers.

At first, Lola struggled under his grasp before she calmed down. She wrapped her arms against his neck as she opened her mouth,

allowing his tongue to dart in.

Besides, at this point, there was no going back. It wasn't as if they were going to stay innocent for the next two years.

At last, Basil finally pulled away, allowing her to gasp for air. She stumbled backwards, placing a hand on her chest.

He smirked, letting his fingers glide against her wet lips.

"I got to get some down payment, right?"

The corners of his lips lifted. He leaned over to whisper in her ear. "Don't worry. I'll start collecting my interest tonight."

Lola's face flushed at the implication of his words.

She pushed him away and glared at him.

The rascal!

Shortly after the episode, Cynthia Yin, his assistant, finally arrived at the villa.

When Lola came out of the front gates, Cynthia Yin respectfully led her into the car. From what she could tell, the car was very limited edition. In fact, only a few men in the world could afford such an exquisite ride.

Lola licked her lips. Without another word, they drove to the mall.

Half an hour later, they were already at the store, looking for clothes. From the peaceful environment to the intricate design on the walls, Lola could tell that this wasn't just any other store. In fact, if it was just her, she probably might not even look at this place. She couldn't help but scan the price tags attached onto the clothes.

Her eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

That...

that shirt probably cost half her life!

"Mrs. Lola, which one do you like?"

Cynthia Yin took her to another shop that contained luxurious outfits with a smile plastered onto her face.

"I..."

Lola blinked. "You mean...I can choose whatever I like?"

Cynthia Yin was stunned at her question before slowly nodding her head.

"Of course. If you don't like it, then we can go to another shop," she offered.

When Lola shook her head in reply, Cynthia Yin waved her hand at the director. Soon, they were being presented with dozens of dresses. They were all made from the most exquisite fabrics and were all designed so intricately.

After scanning each one of them, Lola settled on an apple green dress.

While she was changing back to her clothes in the fitting room, a burst of laughter came from the other end of the room.

"I've made an appointment with you for such a long time, and you chose today of all days to come out. Is that how best actresses act?" one teased.

"I've been busy."

"Busy with..." They burst into another round of laughter.

Lola poked her head out of the changing room, wanting to see what the fuss was about, only to freeze when she saw who it was.

Their laughter went to a halt.

Lola paused, holding the dress tightly.

An... Antonia?

How the hell did they meet here? Did the world just want to ruin her right then and there?

Surprise flashed across Antonia's eyes, but she quickly recovered.

"What a surprise. Why are you here?"

Disdain was evident in her words.

'Are you kidding me? This is one of the limited edition boutiques! What does she expect to get from here?

Scrubs?'

Antonia snorted, narrowing her eyes.

Lola sneered. She was about to say something when someone yelled out,

"Hey, Antonia, is this your sister?

Look what the cat dragged in."

Suddenly, Bella Ou walked up to Antonia, sneering. Her voice was dripping with sarcasm.

"Can you even afford this place?"

Lola stared at them for a long time before turning to Cynthia Yin.

"Where are we?"

she said carefully. Lola wasn't much a shopper, so she wasn't that aware of clothing brands.

What if she couldn't afford the clothes that she'd chosen? Upon hearing her words,

Bella Ou cackled.

"Honey,

don't you even know where you are?

Are you really that dumb?"

Cynthia Yin cleared her throat awkwardly.

She glanced at the pair before leaning towards Lola, whispering in her ear,

"Mrs. Lola, this is BIC." Lola furrowed her eyebrows,

nodding.

BIC?

She hadn't heard of it.

Seeing that she was still confused, Cynthia continued, "BIC is a subsidiary of the White Empire Group. In other words..."

She whispered the rest in her ear.

"All of this belongs to Mr. Basil."

'What?' Lola's jaw dropped

as she looked at her in surprise.

Did she just hear it wrong? All of this belonged to Basil?

"So..." Lola trailed off.

Seeing her surprise, Cynthia chuckled. "As Mr. Basil's wife, all of these are yours."

She waved her hand to emphasized her point.

After handing her the information, Cynthia turned to the antagonistic pair with pity in her eyes.

They would be regretting their words,

and they didn't even know it yet.

If Lola said a word, they could be easily thrown out of here.
