Doctor's Crush

Nooo, Noooo, Mum, Dad, stop it no, no please.

"Aaaaaaaaarrrgghh!" Melanie screamed and she woke up from her sleep with a startle.

Beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She sighed and then closed her eyes.

"Not again" She groaned and ran her hands into her hair.

"Why did this dream have to come back now" She muttered and checked the alarm clock.

"Gosh! It was already 6:30am!" She yelled out and then jumped out of bed.

She hurriedly went to the bathroom and took her bath, brushed her teeth. Soon she was done. She stood by the mirror brushing her not so long black hair down. She breathed out loud and closed her eyes.

Then she picked her handbag and rushed out of the house. She quickly took the car keys from her bag and then she rushed to the car. She entered it and then drove off hurriedly. She was already late and she was sure that Mr Anderson was going to get mad.

She got to the hospital where she worked and then parked her car.

"LEE KIM'S HOSPITAL" was boldly written on the building. It was one of the best hospital in South Korea. It has very many well equipped medical facilities and also has best doctors too.

She came down of the car and then ran in.

Immediately the staff started greeting her.

"Good morning Doc Mel" They greeted and Melanie just bowed her head.

She ran towards the lift and quickly entered it. She just prayed Doc Anderson would not be around or else she is going to receive query.

She sighed and walked out of the lift and then she quickly ran to write her name in the attendance sheet.

As soon as she got in, she met Doctor Anderson in there waiting for her. He was a very renowned doctor at his early thirties and one of the best doctors in the hospital and he was her superior.

"You are 30 minutes late" He said his hands crossed at his back.

Mel closed her eyes and then sighed before she bowed her head.

" I'm sorry, it would not happen again" She said and raised her head up.

"That's the fifth time you are telling me this. Doc Mel, you are good but you need to be punctual. This is my final warning" He said and then walked out.

Mel heaved a sigh of relief and went to write her name.

As she was writing her name. She felt someone come in.

It was Doc Jacob. He was in the same level with her.

She rolled her eyes as soon as she saw him. Well, don't blame her though. He's a darn womanizer and he's being wooing her.

"Good morning beauty" He said and Mel dropped the pen and faced him.

"I don't need your stupid greetings" She said and turned to walk out but he grabbed her by her wrist.

"I want you Mel and you know I always get what I want" He said and licked his lower lip.

Melanie turned and looked at him in disgust.

"I would never want you and remember we are at the hospital. So behave professionally" She said and fred her wrist from him and then walked out.

Suddenly she had noises from a far distance. She ignored and went to her locker, she removed her doctor's coat and wore it.

When she noticed that the noise was too much, she walked up towards him.

They were wheeling a man in on a stretcher, blood covered his whole head and blood was rushing from his hand.

"Get Doctor Anderson!" One of the nurses yelled.

Another came in rushing towards them and said.

"He's out. He also received an emergency situation. Doc Melanie, Mr Thalcobs want to see both you and Doctor Ann in his office now" She yelled and Melanie quickly ran.

Well, Mr Thalcobs was the head manager of their department. He controls all the management and affairs of their department.

She got to his office and knocked on the door and then went in.

She met her colleagues in their already.

"What took you so long, Doc Melanie?" Mr Thalcobs asked.

"I'm sorry sir, I just heard" She said and he nodded.

"Good! I called you all here because we have an emergency and Doc Anderson is not here and you are all under him.

"The patients need to have a surgery as soon as possible so one of you must perform the surgery!" He said and they all looked at each other faces except Melanie who looked straight at Mr Thalcobs.

"So according to your Superior, he said he trusts that Doctor Melanie can do it" He said and everyone gasped including Melanie.

"S,,,,Sir" She said.

"So Doctor Judy, Doc Ann and Doc Jacobs, you will all be assisting her in this surgery" He added .

"So go now and remember we have to protect the integrity of this hospital. I trust Doc Melanie. So all of you hurry" he said and they all bowed and quickly went out.

As soon as they got out, Doc Judy was quick to ask.

"How did you do it? Did you sleep with Mr Anderson?" She asked and Melanie turned back with a smirk.

"Jealous, aren't you. Well everybody get ready! We need to perform the surgery soon" She said and walked out.

"I hate her!" Judy groaned and rolled her eyes.

"Come on, let's go and prepare " Doc Ann said and held her hand.

Melanie breathed out heavily and then wore the scrub thinking.

"I have never done this before. So how?!" She thought.

"So what? Remember why you became a doctor or don't you any more. You can do it! Fighting!" Her subconscious screamed at her and she nodded and smiled as she closed the the locker.

She stared at her parents picture on it and said.

"Mum), ( Dad), this is for you" She said and then proceeded to the operation theatre.

In the operation room.

"We have to remove the blood clot in the spinal cord area or else he might die or lose his ability to sense or feel anything" Melanie said and they all nodded.

"Let's start" She added and they all nodded again.

"Ok Doc Jacob, turn on the music" Melanie said and immediately it was done. She breathed in out and out.

"Give the scalpel Doc Judy" She said and immediately she gave it to her.

"Doc Ann, the cotton" She said.

"Now, we have just to drain out the blood clot there" She said.

"Ok, let's proceed"

A few minutes later, the patient started suddenly to jerk up.

"Doc Melanie I think the patient is having a cardiac arrest!" Doc Jacob said.

"Prepare the injection ready Doc Judy!

"It's still not working and his heartbeat is getting slower" Doc Ann said alarmed.

"I'm not feeling his pulse anymore" Doc Judy said.

"Come on, give me the cardiac defibrillator!" And immediately it was given to her.

She rubbed the two iron together.

"All clear?" She asked.

"Clear" Doc Judy responded.

"I,2,3 Clear"She said and quickly pressed it on the patients chest and he jerked up.

"One more time Clear?" She asked.

"All clear"

"I,2,3, Clear" She said she quickly pressed it on the patient chest again and he jerked up.

The machine made some beeping sound.

"Yes, I can feel his pulse and his heartbeat now" Doc Judy said and Melanie heaved a sigh of relief.

Hours later.

They all stood in front of Mr Thalcobs who was smiling so sweetly.

"Congratulations Doctor Melanie; you have proven yourself and Congratulations to the team who helped you. You are so good!" He said and they all bowed.

"I am sure Doc Melanie that you and Dan will make a great team!" He said and Melanie furrowed her brows.

"What? Who's Dan if may ask sir?" She asked.

"Haven't you heard, Dan Kim, Doc Alfred Kim's son is coming back from the states today and he will be resuming here tomorrow" He said and they all gasped.

Note that the setting of this novel is Seoul, South Korea.

They all gasped and looked at each other.

"Well, you all know that Alfred Kim passed away last year after battling with cancer. Dan was supposed to come over and take over immediately but he decided to stay a year again and study more. So tomorrow he will be back to take over" He said and they all nodded wondering how it was going to be the next day.

They all went back to their duty posts and soon they were on their way.

As Melanie headed out, her phone immediately rang. It was her friend Chelsea. She smiled immediately and picked it up.

"Girlfriend!!!!! Guess what I'm back in Seoul now!" She yelled and Melanie flinched and moved the phone backwards from her ear.

"You are back!" Melanie said and and she screamed again.

"Come home already. There is already a feast prepared for you!" She said.

"Ok Chels! I'm on my way home!" She said and Chelsea Chelsea giggled and ended the call.

Melanie kept smiling as she walked on. Well, Chelsea was her one and only friend in the world. She was from a wealthy family but she did not let it get into her head. Her parents were also good people and were always busy so they had no time for her. They met in college and since then they become close.

As she kept on thinking, someone held her hand and dragged her against her wish.

"Let me go!" She yelled and the person pinned her to the car.

She looked up and saw the person.

"Doc Jacob!" She said surprised and he smirked.

She fred her hand from him forcefully and then slapped him hard across the face.

"Are you stupid or don't you just understand?!" She yelled and he smiled and touched his cheek.

"I love it that you're feisty. It makes me want you the more!" He said and smiled.

Melanie scoffed and then tried to walk away but he held her wrist again and she sighed again, her back turned against him.

"I don't know what you are doing to me. But I will make sure that i get you" He said and She scoffed and then turned back before she fred her hands from his.

"In your dreams...." She says she walked out.

"Welcome Mel!" Chelsea screamed and hugged Melanie so tightly and she chuckled and hugged her back.

"I missed you so much Babe" Melanie said and chuckled and they disengaged from the hug.

"So what did you bring from Incheon?!" She asked and they both smiled.

"First I'm hungry, so what did you prepare?" Mel asked.

"Korean Noodles!" She squealed loudly and Mel chuckled.

She suddenly remembered the dream she had that morning and then her smile faded slowly and immediately Chelsea noticed her countenance.

"Hey, Mel, Are you okay?!" She asked.

"Huh?"

"Yes of course, I'm okay!" She quickly said but Chelsea did not believe her.

"Come on, tell me. I'm your best friend right?!" She asked and Melanie nodded.

"Hm, Chels! You see that dream I always had. I had it this morning" She said.

"What? But you don't have those dreams again. It's been long. But don't worry. It's just a dream" She said and pinched her nose and they both chuckled.

The next day.

"Oh no! Pass me the hair brush!" Melanie yelled at Chelsea who was laughing.

"Come on Chels! I'm late" She said and Chelsea stuck out her tongue at her.

"I never told you to wake up late!" She yelled and Melanie quickly brushed her hair and then picked her bag.

"Bye Chels!" She yelled and ran out.

She quickly packed her car and then she checked her wristwatch.

"8 more minutes to go" She said as she glanced at her wristwatch. She ran off hurriedly, her heels clucking.

She sighed and stopped panting and then resumed running.

Dan sighed and closed the car's door, he held his phone and placed it on his ear. He spoke in fluent English language .

"Yeah. Just perform the surgery on him. He will be fine and then give him antibiotics. Ok bye" He said and hung up.

He brought his phone down from his ear and started operating on it still walking.

He began to hear whispers.

"Oh my! He's cute"

"Who's he? I don't think I have seen him ever before"

"He smells like wealth. Look at his shoes"

"Oh Gosh! His long baby eyelashes. He's really handsome"

Melanie ran more faster without even looking up. All she just wants was to get in before 8am and boom. They bumped into each other and the phone fell from Dan's hands.

"Oh my Gosh! I'm sorry" She said and immediately picked up the phone.

"Here" She said stretching his phone to him.

She looked up and then saw him and she froze for a second.

"The guy standing before was just.... He was just handsome" She thought.

"As well as I thought. You must have been blind for a sec" He said rudely jolting her out of her thoughts.

"What?" Melanie was taken aback.

"Excuse me! I apologized already so you better watch what you say and also you must have been the one blind because you bumped to me first!" She said softly yet coldly and Dan furrowed his brows and everyone gasped.

Well Melanie was not the type to keep quiet when insulted.

"What the?

"Hey Dan, you are here!" A voice exclaimed and Melanie turned to see Mr Thalcobs and Mr Anderson walking towards them.

Mr Anderson looked at Dan and then at Melanie.

"Good morning Sir!" She said and bowed her head.

"Do you know him Melanie?" Doc Anderson asked and she shook her head.

"No sir" She replied.

"Dan, this is one of the best upcoming neurosurgeon in this hospital and Melanie, this is Dan Kim or Kim Dan rather, I told you about him yesterday . He's Alfred Kim's son" He said and everyone gasped and murmured and Dan had a smirk on his face.

"She just shouted at the owner's son"

"I hope you two get along well and work together" Mr Thalcobs said while the both of them stared at each other until Dan broke off the silence.

"I guess you have to say an apology?" He said not to anyone in particular.

"I'm sorry sir but I can't apologise" She stated firmly then she walked away and there was a glint in Dan's eyes.

"What the hell? Who the hell does she think is?" He asked himself

What the hell? Who does she think she is?" Dan thought as he watched her leave.

"Dan, can we go in now. I'll introduce you to the staff" Mr Thalcobs said and Dan nodded and they both walked in.

All the staff of Lee Kim's hospital gathered in the hall awaiting the news that they wanted to share.

Soon Mr Thalcobs, Doc Anderson and Dan ascended from the stairs and stood in front of them and Melanie immediately rolled her eyes when she was Dan and immediately their eyes ran into each other. Dan scoffed and looked away and Melanie rolled her eyes.

"Hello great staff of Lee Kim's hospital. We are glad to have you as our workers because you have proven to the best workers we could ever have. You stood by us through thick and thin and we appreciate.

As we all know, ever since Alfred Kim passed away, there has been no head. We will like to introduce you to his son, who has been studying in the states for the past seven years and he's back here. Dan Kim" He said and everyone clapped while he just nodded. His eyes met with Melanie again.

"I hope we all learn to work together. Unless you face the consequences of your actions" He said looking at Melamie and smirked while the others who were oblivious nodded.

Melanie did not shy away. She too stared back at him until he took his eyes from her.

"You can go now!" Mr Thalcobs said and they all dispersed.

"So Dan, these are our young neurosurgeons. They are extremely good especially Doc Melanie. She is really good so I hope that you would be willing to train her. She would be under you and you will train her more to be more efficient" Doc Anderson said and immediately Melanie felt a bang in her head and she looked up, her eyes widening.

"What?"

She saw the corner of Dan's lips lifting and she scoffed.

"What the hell is happening now?" She thought.

"Hm, Doc Anderson, it's not necessary. You are so a brilliant neurosurgeon so there is no need for me to be under Dan... I mean Doc Dan" She said with a feigned smile.

"No, Melanie. I want you to be under Dan so you can be the best and be more efficient especially your late coming" He said and the others laughed silently.

"But.."

"Hm, Sir, I can take her place if she does not want" Doc Judy cut in.

"No, I don't i can work with you. You are a gossiper" Dan suddenly cut in and the others laughed again except Melanie.

Judy kept shut and bowed her head in shame. She did not know he overheard their conversation.

"Well, Since she's hesitant. It shows that she doesn't want to learn. So don't try to force her. She cannot prove that she is worth the risk" Dan said and brought out his laptop.

"I'll do it. I will be under you" He suddenly heard her say and he looked up.

"Good then. We will start from tomorrow. You can all leave now except Doc Melanie" He said and they all bowed their heads and left leaving him and Melanie in the room.

"Why did you accept to be under me?" He suddenly asked.

"I want to prove my worth to you. I'm going to show my talent" She said and Dan scoffed with a grim look on his face.

He sighed and then focused on his laptop again.

"I don't think. You will be able to handle it being with me. I'm extra demanding you know. Since you were so clumsy outside, I doubt if you are as good as Doc Anderson said" He said.

"How about I show that I'm more than what you think. If I'm able to cope with you for a month then you accept your defeat and take back your words but if I don't, I'll need to accept that you are right" Melanie said and Dan stopped typing and looked up immediately.

"What? Are you giving me a condition?" He asked and Melanie smiled revealing her beautiful set of teeth.

"Yes and I doubt that the owner of the hospital will want to lose to an ordinary doctor like me" She said and Dan looked at her keenly.

"So since you want me to work under you, what do I call you? Senior or just Doc Dan" She said and he sighed and faced his work again ignoring her.

Melanie smiled and walked towards the door but she stopped when she heard him speak.

"It's a deal. Prove your worth or accept defeat!' He said and she turned back immediately.

"Thank you so much senior" She said smiling and then bowed her head before she walked out.

"Senior..."

"The hell! He just knew that she would fail this challenge. No one could cope with him.

"Senior Doctor Kim Dan.."

"What the hell?" He thought and faced his laptop.

"I wonder why he came back. I thought he had no interest in the hospital" An angry voice said and the other person sighed.

"I thought he and his Dad were at loggerheads. I actually didn't expect him to be back!" The other voices out angrily.

"We have to do something! We can't just let him come back and take all what we worked hard for. I will make sure that I will collect all his shares in the hospital" The other one said.

"I have another better plan. It's better to eliminate him than collecting his shares and besides that would be so hard to do!" The other said with an evil smirk on his face.

"What plan do you have?" The first one asked Curiously.
