Chapter 1

In the third year of their marriage, Liam became infatuated with his new secretary, Lindsay Price.

She was open and bold. Her personal motto was "Fortune favors the bold."

In bed, she knew countless different positions, and outside of it, she accompanied Liam in various thrilling activities.

While he went out with Lindsay, he maintained the facade of a devoted husband by fabricating where he had been to Lillian Walsh.

"I'm not coming home tonight. I was drunk, so I'm sleeping at the office."

Lindsay chuckled beside him. She said with a hint of teasing provocation, "When are you going to divorce that boring old woman?"

The call ended abruptly.

Unbeknownst to them, Lillian was sitting in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department and staring at the pregnancy report at her fingertips. She had been pregnant for six weeks.

After she left the hospital, she called her brother, Ricky Walsh, who was a lawyer.

"Ricky, I need you to make a divorce agreement for me."

Ricky paused briefly and then asked, "Are you sure about this?"

Lillian replied calmly, "Yes. I'm pregnant. I plan to keep the baby myself."

After the call, Ricky quickly sent her a divorce agreement.

"Have him sign it. Within a week, I'll help you become single again."

Back home, Lillian printed out the agreement and signed her name carefully.

She stared at the divorce agreement and was absent-minded.

She and Liam had attended the junior high school.

At thirteen, she was bullied by her classmates and locked in the girls' restroom.

Liam went to the classroom late from basketball practice and heard her cries. So he helped her out.

He stood up to the girls who had bullied her and even declared that she was under his protection and warned others not to bully her again.

From then on, she had a deep connection to Liam and became his possession.

His kindness ignited her first crush.

He was her first love and her shining beacon. She longed for him day and night.

Three years ago, the Anderson family faced a crisis, with a strained financial situation.

The Anderson family turned to the Walsh family for help. So Lillian brought a substantial fortune and married Liam. She indeed saved the Anderson family.

After they got married, she and Liam had a happy time.

He would present everything to her if she had looked at it twice. When she fell ill, he took care of her all night. He would even act childishly just to spend more time with her.

But somewhere along the line, everything changed.

In the beginning, when Lillian noticed him getting close to other women, he would explain guiltily. "Lillian, I only love you. I swear there's nothing between her and me."

Later, Lillian caught him kissing another woman at a social event. He said drunkenly, "It's just socializing. Everyone does it. It's nothing serious."

A month ago, Lillian witnessed him in the country villa pressing Lindsay against the glass window. They were making out passionately.

He impatiently showed her true colors. "Lillian, I do love you, but I can't be with just you for the rest of my life. Don't worry. I just had a fling with another woman. You are still my wife."

He played the role of a husband who loved Lillian excessively, while she tried to play a wife who was stupid and blind.

Lillian had thought that life was long and that Liam would come back to her after he hung out with other women for a while.

But she no longer loved him now because he was unworthy. She didn't want her child to always wait for him, who never came home.

The phone rang and interrupted her thoughts.

"I'm at the presidential suite at Lakeview Hotel. Come over," Liam said, hung up the phone before she could say anything.

Lillian paused for a moment and put the divorce agreement into her purse. Then she drove to the hotel.

Chapter 2

Lillian learned along the way that Lindsay and Liam were cornered by reporters at the hotel.

Liam had always pretended to be a devoted husband.

One of the subsidiary companies was offering its stock to the public soon. If any scandal were exploited by his competitors, he would suffer significant losses.

Lillian put on a hat and a mask to avoid recognition. Then she borrowed a uniform from a waitress at the hotel before she managed to slip unnoticed into the presidential suite.

Inside the room, Liam was wrapped in nothing but a towel. There were fresh scratch marks on his shoulders and back.

Lindsay wore seductive clothing and had some marks of intimacy on her, which silently indicated what they had done before.

Liam's lie that he had stayed at the company for the whole night was naturally unraveled.

Seeing Lillian enter, Liam was visibly relieved. He instinctively pushed Lindsay away a bit. "Lillian, the reporters didn't get any front shots of Lindsay. Later, you and Lindsay switch outfits and leave with me. We will tell others that we came here for a romantic game."

Lindsay picked up a red dress from the floor and tossed it at Lillian's face. "Here, take this. Liam just bought it for me, and I've only worn it once."

The dress fell to the floor. It was stained with some unknown filth.

The cold zipper hit Lillian's face, and she seemed to be physically slapped.

Liam hadn't expected Lindsay's sudden action, and his expression changed slightly. "Lillian, Lindsay didn't mean it..."

He wanted to explain when Lillian abruptly slapped Lindsay hard across the face.

Smack!

"Ah!" Lindsay clutched her cheek and looked at Lillian in disbelief. "You dare slap me?"

Lillian ignored Lindsay and turned to Liam. "Can I?"

Lindsay's eyes turned red. She looked at Liam with a face full of grievance.

Liam rose and pulled Lindsay behind him. He said coldly, "Lillian, Lindsay didn't mean it. Why do you have to be so aggressive?"

His words of defense for Lindsay felt like a sharp stab to Lillian's heart.

Lillian's face turned pale. She took out the divorce agreement from her purse and handed it to Liam. "I can help you deal with this, as long as you sign it."

Liam didn't take the document. He frowned and said impatiently, "You have some shares of the company, too. You are not helping me."

Lillian remained silent, and she looked stubborn.

Only then did Liam take the document. "What contract is it? Why do I have to sign it now?"

He was about to read it when Lindsay rushed into the next room and cried.

Liam lost patience and flipped to the signature page. He swiftly signed his name and tossed the document back to Lillian. He said impatiently, "Is that okay?"

Then he hurried into the next room to console Lindsay.

Then Lillian heard Liam's gentle and patient voice from the next room and the soft sounds of kissing.

Lillian looked through the document in her hand. The divorce agreement included a waiver of custody rights, and Liam's name was already signed there.

Her hands trembled as she put the document away. She bit her lip, but she couldn't hold back the tears welling in her eyes.

She didn't wear the red dress on the floor. Instead, he put on the outfit she had worn when she got out of their house and then left the hotel with Liam.

She didn't have to dirty herself. Her face alone could explain everything.

The reporters had waited for a long time and hoped for a big scoop. They were very disappointed when they saw Lillian.

One of them couldn't contain his anger and shouted from a distance at Lillian, "Miss Hayes, it's the first time I've seen a wife help the mistress. It's impressive."

He made a thumbs-up gesture and then slowly turned it down. He sneered as he walked away.

Lillian's face turned pale as Liam put his arm around her and guided her into the car.

The vehicle drove a kilometer and successfully left the reporters behind.

Lillian's hand rested on her abdomen. She was hesitating about whether to tell him about her pregnancy. She hoped to give him one last chance.

Liam suddenly parked the car. "Lindsay's face is swollen from your slap. I need to take her to the hospital. You'll have to catch a cab home."

Lillian clutched her purse on her lap tightly. "Liam, do you remember who your wife is? You once said you only loved me, that she was just a plaything. You..."

Before she could finish, Liam glanced at her, and his eyes were filled with extreme impatience and coldness.

Lillian's lips trembled, and she couldn't utter another word.

Liam had held her and repeatedly whispered promises that he loved her forever. But he showed no warmth when she mentioned the past.

Liam tapped the car door and said coldly, "Get out."

Lillian's limbs felt stiff as she stepped out of the car. Then he drove it away immediately.

The breeze stirred Lillian's skirt as she put a hand on her abdomen. Her gaze became icy.

Liam didn't deserve to know about the baby. Nor did he deserve its father.

Chapter 3

Lillian had someone send the signed divorce agreement to the law firm and then headed to the company.

She had considerable sharp business acumen.

She had not only invested a lot of money to save the Anderson Group from crisis but also helped expand it significantly over the past three years.

As the Anderson Group grew, there were more conflicts between Lillian and Liam. So she voluntarily quit her job at the Anderson Group six months ago and only kept her title as a deputy general manager.

Since she planned to divorce, it was time to separate the two families completely.

Lillian submitted her resignation. Soon, the HR manager came to her anxiously. "Ms. Walsh, your resignation is a major decision. It's beyond my authority. I'm afraid that we'll need Liam's approval."

Lillian replied bitterly, "It's okay. Just submit it to him."

The HR manager breathed a sigh of relief and quickly forwarded her resignation to Liam.

Seeing Lillian's pale face, the HR manager assumed that Lillian had a fight with Liam and cautiously tried to console her. "Lillian, did you and Liam have a fight? Your contributions to the Anderson family over the years have been obvious to everyone. Liam loves you dearly. He surely wouldn't want you to leave the company. Why not sit down and talk things over?"

As soon as the HR manager's words fell, Lillian's computer chimed with a notification.

Her resignation had been approved.

The HR manager looked astonished.

Lillian was stunned. Then she gave a self-mocking smile.

She quickly arranged for the handover of her work and packed her things. Then she headed home.

As soon as she entered the room, Liam stormed towards her in anger.

He didn't even glance at what she was carrying. He snatched the box from her hands and smashed it onto the floor. "Lillian, isn't it enough that you slapped Lindsay? Now you're forcing her to resign? You are going too far to bully her like that."

Lillian lowered her gaze to the scattered items on the floor. The photo album on top contained pictures of her and Liam. She had deliberately placed it on her desk at her office.

It now lay shattered, mirroring her broken relationship with Liam.

She resigned, and he approved it instantly. But when Lindsay threw a tantrum and quit her job, he came to confront and blame her.

Lillian felt it was absurd. "Her resignation has nothing to do with me."

Liam, however, didn't believe her words at all. He stepped towards her and didn't notice that he had stepped on the photo of him and her.

He grabbed her wrist and forcefully dragged her outside. "If it's not you, then who forced her? You're coming with me to apologize to Lindsay right now."

He exerted so much force that Lillian's wrist throbbed with pain. Her face turned pale instantly.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she couldn't hold back her anger any longer. "Liam, who's really going too far? Is it me or you? "She's just a homewrecker and brazenly showed off in front of me. I slapped her because she deserved it. I told you her quitting has nothing to do with me. I will never apologize to her. Let go of me. Let go!"

She couldn't hold back any longer and used all her strength to break free. In the end, she bit down on his wrist.

Liam winced from the pain and instinctively flung her away.

Lillian was unprepared and staggered backward. Then she fell to the floor.

Her wrist landed on the shattered glass from the photo frame. She shivered from the pain and felt a dull ache spread from her abdomen.

Liam was startled. His anger doused as he hurriedly crouched down. "Lillian, I didn't mean it. I..."

Lillian ignored the pain in her wrist and clutched her abdomen. She said with great difficulty, "Take me to the hospital now. I'm pregnant..."

Just as Liam was about to lift her, his phone rang, interrupting her sentence.

He answered it, and his face lit up with joy.

"You found her? I'll be right there!" With that, he said to her quickly, "Let the driver take you to the hospital." Then he rushed out.

Lillian watched his heartless departure and couldn't hold back her tears any longer.

She propped herself up against the sofa, pushed through the pain, and drove herself to the hospital.
