Chapter 1 Flashback of the childhood days

"Grandma, can you read me these words written in Daddy's diary?" asks a boy who is silently turning the pages of a book he is holding.

"Okay dear, sit properly and I'll read you a story in that diary," an old woman says while wearing eyeglasses.

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Terrence. He was raised by a wealthy family surnamed Johnson. His parents owned more than twenty companies all over the world. Tall, handsome, having a white complexion, smart and talented were the big shots perfectly endowed by God to him. Aside from that, Terrence's chinito eyes seemed to be his best asset.

At the age of ten, he usually engaged in acting and performing arts on stage. His mother spent him in workshops every day until school ended. Although he attended all of those activities related to the arts, he could also manage most of the time for studying academics at university. But, a father came into his life, insulted his hobbies, and even rejected his art education. These things get the child to rebel at a young age.

On the other hand, here comes Jirah. About 5'3 ft. tall, average weight, boyish, not so smart, and a very simple girl who loved K-POP movies. Her father's occupation is an Editor-in-chief at Pennovel company, while her mother is just a housekeeper. She was raised in a family with an average income per month, enough to sustain daily needs. Her parents were very supportive of her interests in writing stories, poems, and songs, which made her satisfied and happy.

At the age of twelve, she usually knew how to earn a living. She went to her uncle's bakery to help sell loaves of bread during her free hours, including weekends. And ran home with her commission salary.

Then, she saved it in her piggy bank as preparation for future education.

One day, Jirah rashly went home with food in her hand. She stopped walking upon seeing a boy in the nook, crying with tears. It sounded like he was starving and alone in there. She said to him, "Uhm, little friend, would you like to eat some?" offering food from her hand to the boy.

"Thank you, I'm starving. Can I eat it all?" asked a friend.

"Yes, you can. Eat slowly, my little friend. And wait right there, I will get drinks for you."

Then, Jirah ran to the nearest store. She bought water and brought it to a little friend. Then, she gave it to him.

The boy was touched and amazed by his friend's kindness towards him. He thought of the things he had when he was at his home. The food he ate, the water he drank, the toys he played with, and all his necessities as a child were there in his house. However, being cared for by a stranger in times of hunger was his best gift from God.

Upon looking at the girl in front of him, offering food and drink, the words he just said were, "Thank you," with a smile on his face.

"You're welcome. After you are done eating, go home with me. Don't worry, my parents are kind." she said.

They smiled at each other. Even their shadows in the dark had shown their happy faces in the street. The little boy who was then lonely and hopeless turned to be alive from his friend's smiles. Then, they both held their hands while walking home.

At home, Jirah's parents were panicking while talking to each other, watching the clock, because it was almost late and their child hadn't come home yet. The couple had many speculations in mind about what had happened to their daughter while walking down the street, or maybe she had gotten to sleep with her uncle.

To ease their worries, they came up with the idea of contacting the owner of the bakery where their daughter was working for the whole day. But, the number they were calling was out of coverage, so they were even more afraid of what really happened to their child.

A few minutes later, they heard a knock on the door. Jirah's mother quickly moved towards the door knob, hoping that it was her daughter who had come home.

"Tok, tok, tok..." noise made from knocking on the door. Jirah's mother promptly opened it.

When she saw that it was her child, her worries suddenly vanished. But, there was someone who caught her attention.

"Jirah, dear, I'm so happy you were here. Your father and I were worried about you." Then she hugged the child.

"Mom, I'm okay. It's just that I came home late, because I helped someone." Then Jirah looked at his companion.

Her mother was surprised to see a stranger with Jirah. That's why she asked directly.

"And who is this boy, Jirah?"

The little girl smiled and said, "I will explain to you mom. Let me enter first. I'm so tired from work and I want to sit on my favorite sofa."

Then they entered the house and sat on the sofa, where she started to explain step-by-step to her parents what had happened a while ago. So, her parents enlightened the instances, as well as the reasons behind Jirah's coming home late.

Months had passed. The family accepted the little boy as part of their pact. They didn't think of returning him to the billionaire's abode, because the boy told them he was an orphan.

Since the little boy came to them, luck has flowed into their lives. The head of the family won the first prize in the Novel Writing Contest held on the third anniversary of the Pennovel Company. He also received two awards on the said occasion, namely, "Best Content Editor" and "Best Book Cover Editor", which each contained a substantial amount per award.

Not only that, they were also able to buy household appliances and set up a small family business run by Jirah's mother. All of this had only happened since the little boy they adopted came into their lives.

However, one Friday morning, the fortune brought by the little boy was replaced by news that shocked them. It was a group of people who called out from their house.

"Tok, tok, tok..." is the noise of a knock.

They did not expect any visitors, but, surprisingly, when they peeked out the window to see who was knocking, they saw a group of uniformed personnel. In fear, they first waited for them to call. They thought that they might just be scammers who would invite them to buy their fake products, so they didn't open the door first.

"Hello, good morning. We are from the Country's Children's Society, maam & sir. Can we go in?" asked the people behind the door.

When a representative introduced himself, Jirah's mother immediately opened the door. He thought that their intentions in the family might be important.

"Hello Mam and Sir," greeted by the Children's Society representatives. At the same time, Jirah stepped back to face her mother.

"Hello too. Can we ask why you are here?" Jirah's mother asked.

"We heard about a child living with you for about a month. It was not your own. And someone reported to us that they looked at their son the same as your son's face. Now come here little boy," Pointing a finger at the boy. The little boy approached the woman pointing at him. "Look at this picture. Are you similar to this billionaire's son?"

The boy was just stunned as he saw the boy in the picture who really looked like him, while the family that took him in was shocked. For the second time, the woman asked him again and this time he told her his whole being. He cried when he said all of those truths, but he had no choice but to go back to his real parents and leave the people who had just adopted him.

Immediately, after the acknowledgement of the little boy, they returned the child to them and left afterwards.

"Little boy, don't leave me," begged Jirah, who then tightly held the little boy's hands.

"Jirah, I promise that I will find you wherever you are in the future. I promise!"

He then cried and cried, and turned his head back while looking at the family waving at him. It was the saddest goodbye for the two.

TWELVE YEARS LATER...

It was a sunny day. The waiting area outside the Nike company is full of fans of Mr. Terrence, the famous celebrity who has drawn awards from his first to fifth movie consistently.

Gwen, a twenty-year-old girl, is obsessed with Terrence, a. k. a. "KING of all Hearts" because of his charisma and beauty in nature.

The man just passed by the entrance of the Nike company for his signing of the contract as the new endorser of the product. Fans, including Gwen and Jirah, were patiently staring at the man from a distance.

"Aaaaaaaaah, Aaah...! My Gosh, he's so handsome. I can't take this anymore!"

"Gwen, who is he?" Jirah asked in astonishment.

"Don't you know him? Look, he looks adorable while waving his hands at us," Gwen said as she waved back at the guy.

Jirah still had no idea because there were many men waving at them and two handsome men were passing by the entrance.

"Who?" asked Jirah.

"Terrence Johnson. The most handsome celebrity in the world?" asked Gwen (Jirah's long-time best friend).

Gwen had a sole parent because she lost her father at a young age due to a car accident. She had only Jirah as a companion on her trip and for her interests.

"Terrence?" It sounds familiar, but I don't know him, only that he looks like Raven Ton of the BL boy band, but he is already in Italy because the group has been disbanded," Jirah said.

"Oh no! I think you know him," Gwen said, to give Jirah a hint.

"What? How?" At this time, the woman thinks of some possible answers to her questions.

"Loading? Well, your idol, Raven Ton, is one of the best friends of Terrence Johnson. Earlier, the two had a movie together."

They both wondered what movie was the latest that the two actors they mentioned were together.

"Love in a sword," they spoke together.

"Hahahahaha." Laughing at each other.

"Oh My God! I love it! Thank you Gwen for this time. You made me happy to see him. Mwah," Jirah said to her friend with a smiling face.

From the moment she heard a lot of good news about that actor, Jirah started to idolize him and even wanted to collect the actor's movie tapes and pictures.

Jirah became paranoid when she didn't see her at once, so she kept on watching movies, cut pictures of the actor's face, and kissed it before sleeping. She dreamed that one day she would find a way to get closer to that guy. Can she do that? Let's guess.

Chapter 2 The First meet

"Congratulations," is a word Terrence repeatedly heard from staff and brand owners he endorses. After attending a conference about the endorsement, the selection of the cast for his upcoming movie was scheduled.

"Randy, how much time is allotted for this audition?" he inquired of the assistant while pointing his finger at the scheduled plan book."

Just an hour sir," an assistant answered.

The actor thought for a while in the allotted time how he would manage, before requesting the assistant to pick up his spare clothes.

On the other hand, Jirah passed near the TV station where Terrence works and he saw a piece of bulletin information. This is the content.

What: Movie Casting Audition

Where: At door 198, 2nd-floor building, JCI TV network.

When: June 23, 2021, @ 2 pm.

Who: Interested applicants wishing to audition must be in advance prior to its commencement.

She only had five minutes to go before the audition started. So, she left her groceries on the guard and quickly ran to the venue because she wanted to try acting. Well, of course, her first aim is to get closer to Terrence.

In the audition room, the director talked to Terrence about the choice of the new cast. He explained what kind of woman they needed in the movie.

"Rence, the second female lead actress we are going to choose, is a cool and combative type because her role will be the protector of the second male lead."

"Copy," Terrence said.

Only one word was answered by the actor to the director because he was not used to choosing actors. This was his principle from the beginning, because he did not want to say anything bad about those with him. Also, he is a quiet person when it comes to movie casting. For him, whatever he said was not really followed because he was just an actor.

The clock's hand pointed at 2 p.m. All the staff were preparing their tables and equipment that would be used for the audition. Auditionees, including Jirah, had arrived too. The director called the assigned clerk to call one auditionee at a time, following their sequence by number.

The Clerk walked over and stood in front of the applicants and said, "Listen, only one person can enter per session. The basis of our order will be the number placed on your seat. Remember, be careful when entering that room, because the staff are picky. If you make even a little mistake, you'll be fired right away. Do you understand?"

Together they said the word, "yes" to the clerk.

And so the first woman was called and she stood up.

When number one entered the office, with the slightest nervousness, she felt something bad would happen to her. And her instinct was true. She accidentally broke the door's knob while forcibly closing it. The girl was terrified at what she had done to it, and yet, someone was talking behind her.

"Enough of that, you already broke it. Just take the exit and leave," one staff member said.

It was a surprising manner from a man of honor that an auditionee number one was dissuaded from going out of the office.

Here comes auditionee number two, who was endowed with beauty in appearance, but lacked confidence. She kept on shivering herself, seemed like she was anxious to be interviewed. Director Bobby asked her about the information and experience she had in the arts, but unfortunately, her stage fright had arisen in the middle of the interview. Then, the director told her, "Step back and follow your lead." Pointing to the clerk as a lead.

She was confused and asked, "Sir? What do you mean?"

The staff just laughed at her while she had no idea what they meant. Out of embarrassment, she went out the door crying.

The next to join the audition was a fat girl named Lenie, about 83kg in weight. Like those who entered the office before her, she was also rejected until the remaining auditionees, except the last one, successively failed.

Jirah couldn't bear to see that her colleagues who had finished auditioning turned out to be dissatisfied, so she inquired about all of them.

"Hey! What's wrong with you? Any idea what's going on inside that door?" she asked.

Lenie, the fat girl, turned and answered, "Negative sissy, I hope you will pass for the role."

"Oh! I hope so. Thanks," Jirah said.

At that moment, Jirah soothed herself before entering the door. She adjusted her clothes, blew herself and stretched for a while to relieve the nervousness in her chest. It was her first time attending an audition, so she still didn't know what she was going to do.

As she entered the audition room, a man familiar with her sight suddenly stood up in his chair and looked at his watch, and said, "It's almost time." I don't have time for this. I have to go."

Jirah ignored what the man said to her, but instead she just looked at his face. The actor noticed her angelic gaze, so he approached her and said, "Hello miss. Can you go home now? I don't have time for you. You don't fit the role we're looking for."

Jirah awoke suddenly from her stare at the man, so she was able to answer, "Huh? Why? Mr.-" She even approached it.

The staff stopped her because the actor no longer wanted to be closed by his fans. She didn't let him go and she still followed him to the door where Terrence was standing. Terrence just stared at her and arrogantly spoke the words, "Miss, are you deaf? Or are you just naughty?"

Instead of listening to what the actor said, she thickened her face, asking for a favor from the actor.

"Idol, can we take a selfie?" Jirah asked.

The actor just rolled his eyes and left Jirah alone inside the audition room. She just made an effort to go to the audition, because she thought that she might be the one to be chosen, but just like the previous auditionee, she was also sent home. However, even though the audition did not turn out very well, she still shuddered at the actor when their eyes met.

On Saturday afternoon, best friends Gwen and Jirah went shopping at a nearby mall. While they were shopping for clothes, Jirah noticed a pair of nightgowns, the color, and design of which matched her father's favorite to wear, so she picked them up from the clothes hanger.

Eventually, Gwen grabbed her to select clothes from her hand. So, she first returned the selected garment to its place.

When she had finished choosing the dress that Gwen had brought, she looked at the nightgown again, but it was gone.

Nearby, a man stood, wearing shades and a Nike brand hat, holding a nightgown she liked. She immediately went to the man she saw and asked, "Excuse me, is that yours?" she asked the man loudly and the man just nodded.

"Ah! Because I took that before. I just put it back on the clothes hanger because-"

Jirah explained, but the man did stop him from speaking and he just left her and went to another dress section.

"Ugh! Da*mn sh*it, rude man. I hadn't even finished speaking, then he's gone right away. Bu ** shit! Hayst," Jirah said stiffly.

Her friend Gwen calmed her down and said, "It looks like you just know him."

"I hope so, Bessy, but I don't!" said Jirah.

Gwen was worried about her friend's reaction to the man she met, so she thought of inviting her to the counter.

"Forget it. Let's go to the counter," Gwen said.

Jirah still couldn't forget what that stranger did, so she looked around, pretending to be looking for someone, but in fact, she wanted to see that man again.

They walked to the cashier and lined up to pay. They were in the third row there, so not too far from the counter. The first and second people who lined up in front of them happily finished. So, when they were the next to punch items at the counter, a man suddenly stepped in front of them and told the cashier, "Miss, I'll go first, I have something urgent."

"Okay," the cashier replied.

She recoiled at the sudden appearance of the man in front of her. She wanted to be angry with it, but when she saw the white nape of it, she was just dumbfounded.

Jirah was just stunned while watching him. And when the man was finished and gone right away, her mind also came back to the man's sudden insertion, so she talked to the cashier.

"Ah miss, can you tell me why that man got in? Look, we lined up here."

Even before the cashier answered her question, she showed her a smile and replied softly, "Aaaah... maam, I'm sorry, but he is a billionaire's son. That's why, as you can see, I entertained him first,"

Jirah's blood rose at the cashier's answer, so she scolded her.

"Excuse me, Ms. Cashier, so, we low class don't have special treatment? This mall is weird. Who is your manager? Can I talk to him?" Jirah said arrogantly.

After a while, the mall manager came and interrupted the conversation. "Yes miss, I'm the manager of this mall. What's our problem?" the manager asked.

Jirah's eyes twinkled at once, staring at the manager as if she didn't know what to say, so it was Gwen who stepped in to save Jirah from the interrogation.

"Ah hehe, I'm sorry, it's just a simple misunderstanding. My friend has a brain defect." And she scolded her friend to just shut up and follow what she was saying.

The young woman did not like what her friend called her before, so she replied again.

"Crazy? Hey, I'm not crazy," Jirah justified to the people.

Her companion changed the topic again to cut that issue. She thought that was disturbing for the other customers who were lined up, so they just continued paying at the counter.

"Ahm, please check the price, and then we will pay," Gwen requested the cashier.

Jirah didn't speak anymore because Gwen pinched her hips as a sign to calm down. After they went to the counter, they left immediately and talked about their dinner.

At the small restaurant, friends ordered food. While eating, Gwen asked her friend.

"What's wrong with you, Jirah? Why were you so possessive at the mall a while ago?"

"I don't know. It's just that I hate that man we met earlier, and I hate this day. Hays!" Jirah answered.

Gwen usually opposed Jirah's feelings, but this time, she teased her friend in a humorous manner.

"Oops bessy, I think you like him (referring to a stranger)," teased Gwen to her friend.

In great shock, she spat out the milk tea she was drinking and said, "What?" With facial expression. "Are you serious? I didn't even know him and then tsk... I don't have an interest in a billionaire's son. That is so fuc*ing rude! Duh!"

And she just rolled her eyes after saying those harsh words.

Simultaneously, Gwen pinched Jirah's hips for a second time. The young woman just reacted to the pinch, but later laughed with enthusiasm.

A second later, Jirah's phone rang.

"You're so beautiful in my eyes, my love," Gwen's phone call ringtone. She picked up the call and started to say, "Hello?"

Chapter 3 Jirah's father lost his job

"Jirah? Where are you?" asked her mother.

"I'm with Gwen, mom," she answered.

"Okay, go home now. We have something to tell you about your dad."

She was suddenly nervous about what her mother had said. In previous times, her mother would only call when she was ordered to do something, or to buy her fruit, but in that case, she felt differently.

"O-okay, mom," she replied.

Jirah was sure that the news brought to her by the family was important, so she hurriedly said goodbye to her friend and walked home not far away.

Her heart bumped so fast as she ran from the mall to the house in just thirty minutes.

When she reached the house, her parents hugged her tightly with tears and said, "Dear," her mother sighed and then continued, "Daddy doesn't have a job anymore," with tears. Jirah was surprised at what she heard and asked, "Why papa?"

A few more seconds passed before her father answered. "Dear, I'm sorry. Our company has reduced the number of workers. Unfortunately, I was one of the ones who was fired, but I can still be a freelance writer, though the income is small. It may not fit our needs, Jirah."

Jirah was worried about the family's situation, so when she sat down on her favorite sofa, she said, "Mom, Dad, don't worry, tomorrow I will look for a job. I will try to get hired right away." Her parents just nodded at what she said.

"Where is my assistant, Mangxie? Is he coming or not?" I need my stuff for the show," Terrence said angrily to the make-up artist, Mangxie, whose hands were shaking as he dialed the actor's assistant mobile number.

The assistant's cell phone rang and the call allotted time had just ended, but still, he didn't answer. "Come on Marcos, please answer my call," while Mangxie was nervous.

Marcos still did not answer his second call.

A second later, the actor moved toward the make-up artist again and said, "What's up Mangxie? Will he be able to come here?" asked the actor, who was then restless.

The gay man just shook his head at the actor, as if he was also scared about the situation. Later, Terrence's manager came and asked the actor.

"Terrence, get ready. You only have thirty minutes to prepare before the show starts," Mangxie and Terrence just stared at each other and the manager noticed them.

"What's the matter, Mangxie? And where is Marcos? He is supposed to be here right now," asked the manager.

Just before he answered the manager's question, Mangxie received a cell phone message.

"Mangz, please tell Boss Terrence, I have an emergency. Just take care of the clothes he's going to wear. They're ready. I have the key to my room in the locker. Just get it. Thank you," the content of Marcos's message.

Mangxie read it in front of the two companions. The actor may be angry with the situation, but he has nothing to do but take the initiative to improve his presence in the show. Until he came up with the make-up artist as his temporary assistant in the absence of Marcos.

Terrence immediately instructed him to follow what was said in Marcos's message. Mangxie brought Terrence's clothes to the dressing room and supported the actor in wearing them. From the beginning of the program until the end, Mangxie did not leave the actor, so he became a make-up artist/personal assistant at that time.

Jirah had already prepared her job application requirements. It will not be difficult for her to find a job because she has completed a course.

She just finished a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration at Fordwell University. An expensive school that offers quality education to rich students. She had an opportunity to study there because of her scholarship given by Pennovel, the company where her father was contracted, so she grabbed the course even though she was a little hesitant to like it.

When she found out that her father had been terminated from the company, she decided to apply for jobs elsewhere for their family needs. Her parents still assisted her all along.

As a first-timer, Jirah kept on biting her lips while in the interview process.

"Good morning Ms. Jane, I was assigned to interview the applicants. So I am Ms. Glenda, the HR hiring officer. This time I only have questions that you will only answer in ten minutes. Your answers should be in the English language. Are they all clear?"

As her muscles trembled, she forced herself to remain calm and smiled at the speaker.

"Yes," she replied.

And the questions were thrown at her by the interviewer. Those are: "Describe yourself", "What are your expectations for the company", and the last one was about the reason why she wanted to work for the company she was applying for.

She felt uneasy while responding to each of the questions given by the interviewer. In the first and second questions, she answered them well, but when it came to the last question, she was hesitant to answer it.

"Ahm... in fact, I was really forced to look for job offers because of my parents. My dad lost his job, so I decided to apply for work first... for our own good."

She found it difficult to answer, but she still completed her sentence.

Her ten minutes were over and the HR officer told her to just wait for their call. So, she left that company and went to the little waiting shed to retouch her make-up. Even though she was not used to grooming herself and putting lipstick on her face, she still tried to be pleasant, especially in front of the officers in uniform.

Of the companies she applied to, two of them rejected her application, while the other three companies told her to wait for a message. She was almost degrading herself at that time.

A day after, Gwen called her for an invitation to a college reunion.

"You're so beautiful, in my eyes, my love," Gwen's phone call ringtone. She picked it up and said, "Yes, Gwen?" Clearing her mind.

"Thank God, at last, you answered my call," Gwen said.

"What's up now?" she asked.

"Tomorrow afternoon is our college reunion. Will you come? Don't worry, you can borrow my dress if that's your problem."

She was irritated by what her friend said because she knew that she did not like to participate in gatherings, especially at college reunions. She never even showed up at the school where she was finishing her course.

"Bessy, you know that already. I'm not interested in that reunion and even if you force me, it's useless. I'm sorry," she replied.

"No, you can't resist Bessy," Gwen said.

"Why?"

Jirah sighed and wondered what else her friend would say just to come with her.

"Because your idol will be there."

When she heard that, her spirit came alive and she clarified with her friend if it was true.

"What? Are you serious, Gwen?"

"Yeah, Terrence Johnson of JCI TV network will attend the college reunion."

She jumped for joy as if she had won the lottery because it was impossible for her idol to go to the reunion.

"Oh my God! I can't believe this. Okay, bessy I must sleep early tonight to prepare for tomorrow's reunion. Thanks, Gwen. Goodnight," she said.

It's been a week since their last meeting and it's going to be exciting for her to see Terrence's face again.
