Inside the most grandiose palace that is owned by the most handsome and sought-after bachelor in the country. Azalel looked at a painting in his study in a very sad gesture. His eyes filled with longing and grief, not for the lost. But for missing someone.
it had been thousands of years ago since he last saw that beautiful face. A face that changed not only his life but all his beliefs and everything he had fought for.
His eyes focused on the image of an angel descending from heaven. While a devil with horns and a horrifying tail was looking up. Trying his best to break up the chains only to reach for the hand the angel was lending.
That was the most heartbreaking scene for him. That was exactly what he was trying to do all these years. And still, he wasn't able to get loose from the chains of his origin.
I will definitely find you, and when I do, I'll take back everything you have lost. Even if it means my life. I will definitely protect you. He made a pact to himself. And that's what he intends to do.
"You never get enough of him, do you?"
He wasn't very surprised by Lucas's sudden appearance. Of course, he wouldn't need to use the door to get anywhere. One of every devil's qualities. Where Azalel was known to be the prince of darkness. The king's only son.
Lucas was sitting on his study table literally. Not minding Azalel's not so good mood upon his arrival.
"He's not here anymore. Or in any dimension. You lost him in that war, the war that made you betray your own race." a gleam of disgust flustered Lucas's face. But soon faded as he smiled as if nothing mattered.
Azalel did not mind any of it. He is still consumed in his own reminiscing. Never taking his eyes off the painting.
"Why not just go back to being the prince of hell? Well, you may receive a lot of whipping and torture, but what's that to you?"
"Stop convincing me," at last turning to face his right-hand man. " I know my father ordered you to take me back. You can easily drag me back to hell if you want. But why try so hard to hold yourself back?" he smiled sarcastically at his so-called demon friend and comrade.
What his father did not know. Is that Lucas was the one who secretly helped him to warn the archangels about the coming war his father had planned against Heaven and God himself.
But that did not prevent the loss of souls. And most importantly, his one true love.
As much as I am afraid of your father skinning me alive. And throwing me into the abyss while being munched on by his pet monsters. I'm more afraid of betraying you. If you had the guts to go against your father once, that means that you are not near as afraid of him as I do.
He tapped one of Lucas's shoulders as a sign of gratitude for his loyalty. Which was rarely seen in demons like them. Maybe because Lucas was once an angel that had just fallen from grace. And still has some of his old virtues intact.
He was always punished by Azalel's father for disobedience to do his bidding. And Azalel took pity and had taken him in his wings. And the rest was as they say were ancient history.
"I didn't want to say this. But you should accept the fact that his soul had already perished that day. And will never be coming back however hard you try to punish yourself. It's not your fault that he tried to save you that day."
"I know," he said cutting the chattery while remembering that very moment when Muriel slipped in his back. And received that deadly strike from his father.
He was gasping in his arms. As he tried to tell him something. The angel's hand turned cold as it fell from touching his face.
Although he was in his terrifying form as a demon. Muriel never saw him as the devil or the prince of hell as he is.
"I only want to tell him something that I never had the chance to do so."
"And what is that?" Lucas countered.
He turned to look at the painting once more.
And silently said to himself.
That I love him.
Meanwhile,
At a shabby-looking house. Mina rushed to Urie's house screaming. Held her phone with both his hands.
Urie rushed downstairs from his room on the second floor. Worried that something bad might have happened to his drama queen best friend.
Mina continued screaming nonstop even though Urie was already in front of her.
At a wave of Urie's hand. The latter part landed on his friend's head. Instantly calming her down.
"That really hurts." mina said smoothing the part that was smacked.
"I thought you'll never stop," he said holding his laugh.
"I have important news." he can already tell that it's about someone that they both keep track of these days.
Axel 'Azalel' Cartilier.
A young and handsome billionaire.
Almost every woman in the country drools over this guy like candy sugared sweets. You'll want to melt upon looking at his eyes. Although he was very much sought by every girl and gays in general. He still can't escape the criticisms.
Everyone says that he might be gay. 'Cause he never had any relationship with any girl. That when someone popular gets attached to his name, he would bluntly say that it's not true. And that he has no interest and would never be involved in any way.
While others say that whoever Axel loves will be the luckiest one. Not because of his looks and stand in society. But because of his clear and straight mindset. Like no one can talk him out of something, especially about what he likes or dislikes. Mina and Uriel are certainly on this side of the story.
"Look," he tried to look unconcerned. But failed upon seeing a familiar handsome face. His heart skipped a thousand beats. And felt like gasping for air. He didn't know why, but Axel has always had that kind of effect on him.
Mina started reading the post on Instagram.
It seems that the most sought-after bachelor wants to invite every single people in the community to participate in a singles event.
"Good thing we are both in the showbiz industry." but had a sudden pause.' But why all of a sudden? Is he planning to get married at last?"
Married? That word echoed in Urie's mind. And thought of having a panic attack.
"We have to go there."
"What?" Urie almost shrieked.
" If he's setting up this kind of event, it means that he's still finding a match. And that's the perfect opportunity to show ourselves."
"Really?" he said raising an eyebrow. " You really think that if we show ourselves in front of Axel Cartilier. He would gradually drop down on his knees and ask one of us to marry him? Are you out of your mind?"
"Actually, it's just me and not us," Mina said in an air of confidence. "I still believe that he would choose a normal girl even over a beautiful guy like you," she said sticking her tongue out to him.
He just laughed at that remark.
Boasting aside. He was always considered to have an angelic face that even female actresses would envy. Sadly he had to be trapped in a boy's body. As Mina always says. He would definitely be a goddess if he were born a girl.
"What exactly did you do?" Azalel rummaged whilst entering Lucas's personal office. He is the CEO of a global enterprise. While Lucas is the president of the whole.
He basically threw his very expensive phone at him. From which he did not have to dodge. With just a wave of a hand, it stopped in mid-air.
Lucas looked like an angel while smiling at him. Hiding at a devil's skin.
"What's wrong my friend? Did I step on your tail today?" he said referring to Devon's tail in demon form.
"The hell you did! Who told you to organize a party in my name?" he said emphasizing the last three words with anger.
"I was just looking after you. I know that, unlike petty humans. Criticisms mean nothing to superior beings like us. But, it does affect the company. So I decided to take the initiative in helping you erase all those malicious contents on the internet." he seemed very proud of himself thinking that it was a wonderful idea.
"Look at it this way," Lucas started walking towards him. His hand landed on one of his shoulders. "You get to forget about 'other things, talking about the angel Muriel. " while getting to enjoy all the pleasures this world has to offer." Azalel looked at him with sullen eyes.
Lucas backed up a bit. Yet he continued talking. "I know those things don't matter to you. But feelings for devils like us are considered nothing but cliches.
"Like you said," Azalel brushed Lucas's hand off his shoulder. " Those things don't matter to beings like us. Do what you want initially. But don't force me to do unnecessary things."
Azalel walked out of the room just like how he came in.
Leaving Lucas with a content smile on his devious lips.
The night of the party.
At Urie's house.
Mina's hands are all caught up doing Urie's makeup.
"Honestly, you don't really need any of this. You're already pretty enough." His friend smirked jokingly at his face.
He is wearing a fresh look with a yellow gold suit partnered with a white turtle neck and white leather shoes.
He had his hair braided on one side. While some of it just hung free on his forehead.
Mina made his makeup light and airy. With his lips being the center of attention. You can't just help but look at its pink but light and glossy feature.
"Wow, is this really me?" his eyes gleamed with disbelief at what he just saw.
"Urie, someone's here to come to pick you up." His personal assistant Malise hurriedly came to inform him.
He and Mina exchanged looks with one another. As far as they know, besides their manager and p.a., They're the only ones who had plans of going to the party together.
"Aren't you two ready yet?" Rain entered the room like how he had always been. A diva in the making. Like him, he is also an outed-gay personality in show business. Both of them were named the prettiest faces in the country by a well-known magazine. But of course, he was always the one to come first.
Behind him walked, Adam. Who is known to be the most in-demand leading man in bl series dramas? Where most were played by him or Rain. To be exact, they're mostly the ones who juggled Adam in every series they portray. And people seem to make an issue out of it.
Whether it's a love triangle or a tug-of-war. He didn't mind any of it. For him, it's mostly work-related. And none of it was true. Because his interest lies elsewhere.
Adam instantly smiled upon gazing at him.
"You look stunning." he quoted.
"How about me?" Rain said pouting. Adam laughed at rain's childish behavior. "What? Am I not pretty enough to compete with him?
"Of course you are. But you two are on a different level of beauty." Adam tried explaining. "You're the straightforward sexy type. And Urie's on the cute and innocent level."
Mina started laughing for some reason.
"Why don't I feel comforted for some reason?"
Urie got up from the stool where mina was currently fixing his make-up. And walked up to Rain's side. He lightly put his arm around his friend's shoulder.
"Come on, that was never an issue between us. Don't let it get in the way now. We both need to look pretty at the event. Just in case we want to get someone's attention." he simply directed his lips towards Adam's direction. He knows very well how rain secretly loves their leading man.
A knowing smile crossed Rain's lips.
"Don't be so caught up with everything. Just focus on him, okay?" he murmured.
"Thank you." Rain said after a nod.
"Are you guys ready? We might miss the highlights of the party if we don't hurry up." said Adam.
"Ready!" he and Rain had a chorus.
Azalel can't help shrugging while looking at a two-way glass above the ballroom. He was there for an hour now. And he didn't want to mingle in any way. While on the other hand, Lucas was the life of the party, trying to entertain the guests.
There was even a time that he looked up at him from the ballroom. Knowing exactly how disinterested he is with the whole thing.
You son of the devil, come down here.
Even from his height, he can clearly read what Lucas was trying to tell him clearly.
"Fat-chance." he was about to make an about-face. When a group of four people entered the room.
He didn't need a telescope to fairly recognize a very familiar face from that crowd.
"It can't be," his breath was almost like a thin rope that snapped.
The glass of wine that he was idly holding fell to the elegant carpet. For others, it would mean disaster, for it was worth millions. But that didn't matter much to him. His focus never left that face that haunted his memories for a million years.
"Muriel"
Urie's heart was beating rapidly upon entering the ballroom. His eyes were restless for a while now. And it's looking anxiously for someone.
Calm down Urie. It's just a guy. You don't need to get too obsessed with him. he tried telling himself.
When he suddenly stared at the mirror above what seemed to be a big room that hung on the ceiling. And looking down at the ballroom. Urie felt chills walk down his spine. As if someone was staring back at him.
He suddenly heard what seems to be someone whispering into his ears.
I knew you'd come back.
"Are you alright?" Adam noticed how he shook his head abruptly.
Was it just a mere imagination? And why does the voice sound familiar?
"Huh?"
"You shook your head just now. Aren't you feeling well?" concern flooded Adam's face as he was looking at him.
His hands were almost to touch Urie's face.
"I'm fine." he stepped back a bit. Avoiding adam's touch." I may have had water on my ears earlier. " he glanced at Rain. Luckily, his friend was busy talking to Mina.
Meanwhile,
Needless to say, Lucas was shocked to see Axel appear in front of everyone. And so did the guests. Who inevitably admired and wanted to be to close him. But did not dare to.
Their eyes followed him with admiration. As he walked straight with his eyes fixed on one part of the room. And that's where Urie was standing while talking to Adam.
Even the part where the latter tried touching Urie's face did not escape Axel's eyes. And he must admit, that really got into his nerves.
"Where exactly do you plan on going?" Lucas suddenly blocked his path.
"You're getting in my way. Step aside." he stared at Lucas with bloodshot eyes. Luckily no one saw what he did. He was definitely feeling impatience.
He just wants to pop up in front of Urie. But he restrained himself. Worrying it might scare him.
Lucas stared at him for a moment before finally giving way.
In the middle of his walk toward Urie. Lucas gestured to the musicians to start playing.
He turned to his friend. Who gave him a wink as a reply.
Lucas must have thought it was a woman he wanted to approach.
Both Urie and Adam had their heads tilted. Upon hearing a weird opening of the song that is being played by the orchestra.
"Would you like to dance with me?" Adam offered one of his hands to him.
At that moment, he saw hurt cross Rain's face.
"I'm fine, you should ask Rain instead."
Adam was about to say something when Urie turned his back. To find that someone was already standing behind him.
It's non-other than Axel Cartilier himself.
Urie somehow felt one of his knees get weakened. But strived well to keep his stance upright. He wouldn't want to humiliate himself in front of Axel Cartilier would he?
"I hope you wouldn't be so cruel to refuse me for a dance," Axel said, which made him quite confused about whether he was actually talking to him. Or someone else that is behind him.
And like a dumb person, he actually looked around and behind himself.
Mina was at least seven feet away. While the other girls aren't brave enough to step up in front of this devilish, good-looking guy like this one.
Devon can't help but laugh at his gesture.
"You are not a ghost, are you? Or am I seeing things?" Axel tried making a joke.
"Are you actually talking to me?" Urie confirmed.
"Should I ask the one beside you then?" he was talking about Adam. Who was almost invisible to Axel's eyes.
"But I'm-"
"A boy? I know, I'm not blind." he still wore that charming smile. Even when he is being sarcastically straightforward.
Axel offered his hand to him. Like no one was actually looking. While in reality. If those eyes can burn. It would hurt more than a third degree.
He felt Adam's hand on one of his elbows. Probably trying to tell him to think twice.
But as soon as he did, Axel's hand grabbed his other hand. Almost dragging Urie into the middle of the dance floor.
On that note, the melody started to play as soon as Axel held him close to his body.
