Destined Together

Christopher Collins is a Dental surgeon working in a famous Multi speciality hospital in New York City. It was morning shift for him that day, so he returned ahead of time in the evening to his apartment, which happened to be a high rise Condominium. When he was waiting for the lift in the lobby, he heard a voice, "Sara don't run"

Christopher turned back to see a little girl of around 3 years running towards the lift, followed by a young woman in her twenties. They stood beside him and waited for the lift to come.

Probably they are returning from an evening walk, he guessed.

All the three entered the lift.

"Which floor?" Christopher asked politely.

After seeing the floor number which was already pressed, the lady turned her face. Chris felt that attitude very rude. Even if they are going to the same floor, at least the lady would have thanked or smiled, he thought.

Then he noticed the little girl, whom the woman is holding tightly. He felt that bruises might come if she keeps on holding like that. But something about that girl attracted him and he started making funny faces at the girl. She giggled. They both stopped after hearing the elevator ding sound.

"Your baby is so cute," he said with a smile.

"I am not her mother; I am her Babysitter," she told in an angry tone and left.

"That was impolite" Poor child, how she is withstanding this lady, I have to inform their parents when I meet, he thought to himself. Thinking of that, he watched them, to locate their unit number, surprisingly they entered the next door. Why I had never seen this angel before? he amused.

Christopher is a person who won't peep into others' matters. But something about this girl Sara is making him, to interfere, which he himself started wondering. Maybe the attitude of the nanny or any other intuition he can't understand. But one thing for sure, when the babysitter was behaving rudely, he can't tolerate it and felt like grabbing the child from her hands and he felt strange for his fondness towards that little girl.

Chris is living in this condo for almost 5 years. He bought this Apartment when he joined his current position and he is still paying the mortgage. He is living alone here. His father died when he was young and his mother married her friend after some years and Christopher was raised by his granny. After his Granny's death, he moved to this place. He has trust problems, after his girlfriend, whom he truly loved broke up with him and married somebody else, he became void of feelings. He is happy with himself and he doesn't want to enter a serious relationship.

The following days, he tried to spot the little girl or her parents, but as he was returning late these days, he doesn't want to knock on their door.

At Sara's bedroom:

"Mommy Princess Story"

"It's late sweetie, I already told you three stories right, now go to sleep, let me tuck you"

"Okie"

After confirming that Sara has slept, Isabella left the room and started working on her laptop, like it was her only lifeline. Bella also felt the rude attitude of the babysitter, so she already enrolled Sara in a Daycare and picked her after office hours.

Isabella Williams is a single mother, who works in a leading marketing company. She lost her parents in a car accident, and after that, she and her sister Margaret Williams were brought up in foster care. After getting jobs, they both lived in their own way. Because of her office location, Maggie stayed at a different location. Bella rented this apartment recently when she moved to this city.

Sara is such a cutie pie, very lively and cheerful girl. Though she doesn't have a father figure, Bella tried her best to avoid the emptiness in Sara's heart. Sometimes she felt sorry for her decision of being a single mother when she saw the longing eyes of Sara towards a happy family.

After being dumped by her boyfriend, Bella took that life-changing decision. Bella was head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Samuel Jonathan. Sam indeed loved her to the same extent, but when the option came to select Bella or marry a Billionaire's daughter, he selected the latter. After her heart-break, Bella became frigid and started concentrating on her career.

She is a reserved person and mostly won't talk or mingle with neighbours. Being single, it is quite difficult for her, as everyone would enquire about the child's father, whom she itself doesn't know.

Bella fixed an appointment with her physician for Sara's vaccination the next day. As they recently moved here, she thought of getting introduced to a physician. The thought of visiting that hospital brought her old memories back, and with complex emotions, she drifted off to sleep.

Bella and Sara were waiting in the Pediatric ward. Being a naughty child, she will not sit aloof during the waiting time. She jumped here and there and went to the weighing scale and stomped it.

As the needle turned, " Mommy see it's running hee..hee" she jumped.

"Oh my God, Sara come to me," Bella shouted.

The mother-daughter duo attracted the entire hall. Everyone turned towards them. Doctor Ashley Brown was one among them"

"Isabella is that you?" She approached Bella who was busy dealing with Sara.

Both Bella and Sara turned after hearing Ashley's voice. She is a Gynecologist, working in the same hospital.

"Hello Doctor," Bella greeted.

"Is this your daughter?" Ashley gestured towards Sara.

After confirming that from Bella's nod, she bent to Sara's height and fondly touched her chin.

"What is your name, honey," she asked.

Sara squealed, "Sara..Sara Williams "and she gave her thousand dollar smile.

Ashley was silent for a while with a strange expression, which Bella cannot understand. After some time she exclaimed, "Oh my God same eyes"

"What?" Bella gave a confused look.

Ashley bit her tongue after realizing her blunder. Without knowing how to react, she gave an awkward smile. Like her rescuing saviour, the nurse called out "Sara Williams," as Sara's turn to meet the Doctor had come.

Quickly Ashley composed herself and reacted, "You carry on, Isabella; We will catch up later".

Though Bella stabled herself, Ashley's comment indeed stirred her memories with no doubt.

After the vaccination, they were on the way to their home. Suddenly Sara inquired, "Who is that Auntie Mommy?"

"She is Ashley Brown; she was the one who helped me to bring you into this world. Mommy is indebted to her"

Sara cannot understand anything, but she simply nodded her head like she understood everything. Suddenly she screamed, "look, Ice cream truck there, Sara want SpongeBob popsicle" she pouted.

Bella pulled over her car and went to the truck with Sara in her hands.

While Sara was enjoying her Popsicle, Bella started thinking about Ashley's comment.

"If same eyes mean, the biological father of Sara must have Green eyes," Bella thought herself. Ashley was the only person, who knows the so-called "Biological Father".

"As Bella has hazel brown eyes, Sara must have taken her green eyes from her father," she thought.

Bella never imagined a figure for that unknown person, whether he is tall or short, married or unmarried, and she has zero-clue about this person.

But she remembers the fact that Ashley once told that the person is a Good looking handsome young man with good character. And today, one more identity is included in the list. Yes, the person has green eyes.

While she was in her own world, Sara's voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Mommy, you want a bite?"

With a smile, Bella took the Popsicle and took a bite. She felt stings in her gums.

"Arrgh..it's sensitive, I have to meet a Dentist for sure," she thought.

Bella was planning a dental checkup for a long-time for a root canal treatment with a Dentist, but because of her busy schedule, she is postponing that. But she decided that she should meet the Dentist next week definitely.

The time flies like anything. Bella was busy with her routine. One day while returning from the Hospital, Chris saw Sara playing in the corridor. He went near her and squatted down to her level.

"Hi Princess," I am Chris, he introduced himself.

Though she met Chris before, being a child she blinked.

"Sara right" he continued.

"Yes"

"Why are you playing alone?" he questioned.

"I don't have friends here, all my friends are in Springfield" she clarified.

"Okay friends," he gave his hand for a shake.

"Okie friends," Sara happily shook his hand.

"Is your Mom and Dad home?"

"I don't have a Dad, only Mom" she answered with a sad face.

Suddenly a voice interrupted their conversation.

"Sara come inside, time for dinner," Bella signalled from the doorstep. She can't see the man's face, but she saw that Sara was talking with him.

"This little girl is talking with strangers, I have to educate her," she thought to herself.

"I have to go, bye-bye Chris" she ran inside her house.

Though he planned to talk with Sara's parents, the new information that Sara doesn't have a father affected his heart.

"What sin this little girl did for not having a complete family, poor child," he murmured himself.

Then his thought suddenly shifted towards Sara's mother.

"Is she a single mother? What happened to Sara's father? Did she hated her husband and got separated, or he is no more or that man abused her?"

"It's none of my business," he shook his head in frustration. But one thing was clear to him. Sara needs more love and affection.

Finally, the day came when Bella has to meet the Dentist. There comes the next problem. Bella needs someone to babysit Sara. Her appointment has been scheduled at 6 pm, and by that time, day-care will be closed. Whenever she has to go somewhere or meet somebody, where she cannot take Sara, Margaret, Bella's younger sister would come and babysit Sara. But today, Margaret already had some plans. As it was a last-minute plan, Bella doesn't want to trouble Maggie, for which she is very particular.

Bella admires Maggie. She is five years younger than her. Both lost their parents when Bella was 12. Her family was not so rich, and their little assets were only enough to pay back their debts. After that car crash, some of the good-hearted family members helped them to clear the debts and enrolled them in a Foster-care in Springfield, Massachusetts. From that day onwards, "Bird's Nest" was the home for Bella and Maggie.

Being Children, they both missed the parental affection. But both were very supportive of each other. Maggie was more matured for her age. Though Bella came forward to support Maggie's studies when she got her first job, Maggie stubbornly refused and did some part-time jobs and supported herself. Bella always felt proud of her sister. After her studies, Maggie got a good job and settled in New York, and she even has a boyfriend.

As Maggie is visiting her boyfriend Thomas' parents, Bella thought that she should not disturb her. With no other option, she took Sara along with her, and it was the same hospital where they met that Pediatrician. Not only that, it was the same hospital where Bella got conceived. Yes, Sara is an artificially conceived child through some fertility treatment.

As usual, Sara can't be controlled and she started jumping in the Hospital. The Royal General Hospital is the number one hospital in the city and it is the best hospital for treatment and diagnostics and it is top-ranked in 12 specialties, and Gynaecology is one among them.

Soon after her studies, she got a good job, and when Samuel Jonathan proposed to her, she was on cloud nine. After her parent's death, Sam was the one who gave hope in her life. She believed in her happiness and dreamt of a complete life with him, but his sudden transformation totally shattered her. Sometimes, money is the prime priority for people, Sam is not an exception.

After the love failure, Bella roamed hopeless without any enthusiasm in her life. It was during that time, Bella took that important decision. Though her sister Maggie morally supported her, she thought, that there must be someone one and only for her. There came that idea of, "Artificial Insemination" and this was the hospital where she got impregnated.

When her turn came, she went inside the Doctor's room along with Sara. Soon after entering the room, after seeing Chris, Sara jumped into his arms.

"Chris"

"Hi Sara princess"

"You told me we can play together, but you didn't come to me" Sara pouted.

"Sorry Princess, I was busy, next time we can play together"

"Pinky promise"

"Yes. Pinky promise"

The entire scene was watched by Bella with her mouth agape.

"You two know each other," Bella questioned.

"Mommy this is my friend Chris, Chris this is my Mommy," Sara introduced.

"What..friend"?

"Hi I am Christopher Collins; actually I am your neighbour. I had met Sara twice in the apartment premises, when she was with the babysitter"

"Oh," was the only word Bella could say.

Understanding the situation, Chris said

"Take your seat, Ms.Williams"

Bella took the Dental chair and Sara sat on the opposite side

"Tell me, Ms.Williams"

"Yes Doctor, actually we recently moved to this city. Previously when we were in Springfield, My Dentist suggested the Root Canal treatment for one tooth, which I cannot undergo at that time, but now I am getting toothache and sensitivity. If required, I want to do that procedure immediately"

"Ok, let us examine your teeth first"

While Chris was checking her teeth, Sara started exploring the room. She approached the Doctor's seat and started spinning the chair. Bella cannot speak, as Chris was doing the examination. Once Chris completed his examination, Bella apologized, "I am sorry for that Doctor, She is little perky"

"No worries, she is just a child, a kid has to be like that only," he smiled.

Then only Bella noticed his green eyes. She stared for a while and suddenly she averted her eyes. After she got that new information, wherever she saw a person with green eyes, her thoughts shifted towards that imageless person. But today as she saw a man with green eyes in the same hospital, her heart pounded faster. Suddenly Chris's voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Regarding your tooth, I have seen your past x-ray, compared to last time, the infection is somewhat high now, if you wish, we can start the procedure today itself".

"Today we can clean the infected pulp and in the next appointments, we can clean the canal and fill it with a crown, two more visits you have to come" he further added.

"Sure, we can start today. Is it fine with Sara here?"

"I can handle that," saying that he approached Sara with a smile and took her in his arms and explained, "Princess, I am going to clean your Mom's tooth, can you sit quietly and watch some cartoons," without hesitation he took his phone and browsed some videos and gave it to her for watching and started the procedure.

"What a considerate man," Bella thought to herself.

Once the procedure was done "All set you are good to go," Chris assured.

"Thank you Doc," Bella smiled and gestured to Sara to bid goodbye to him.

"Chris don't cheat me today, I will be waiting for you," Sara ordered.

"Ok Sweetie, I will come and play with you"

"What on earth a 3-year old girl and a famous Dental surgeon can play together," Bella wondered herself but one thing for sure, Chris has earned Sara's heart in no time, that was the biggest miracle that ever happened. Sara won't make friends with others that much easier, even in Springfield, she had only a few friends. Though she is a cheerful girl, she can mingle freely with only a few persons. When she was thinking like this, the ringing of her mobile interrupted her thoughts.

"Hi Bella, where are you?" Maggie spoke in a shrill voice.

"Slow down..slow down Maggie, my ears are going to tear. I know you are very excited" Bella slowed her.

"I am so happy Bella. Tom's parents are really nice, like in really nice and they are treating me like their own daughter, even they enquired about you. Is your checkup over, I am coming for a sleepover"

"I am happy for you Maggie and yes, I really need sister time, tell me what you want to eat for dinner, I will prepare for you,"

"Bella, I want your special Lasagne. Man, I missed it like a hell and chocolate truffles for desert please," Maggie implored.

Bella could imagine her pout; she giggled over the other end and said, "Ok then it is settled, meet you soon and I have to stop at the convenience store before going home"

Margaret and Sara are her only family, how can she refuse the request of her pretty little sister.

"Mommy, is Aunt Maggie coming"

"Yes dear, she is sleeping over tonight"

"Super, Sara happy," she giggled.
