Neither will the vampires who will do anything to get Adira back under their roof as a captive. The tale of the two destined lovers from unlike backgrounds awaits.

Chapter 1 WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT

Adira strained her eyes to see through the thick fog around her, it was blurry, but she saw a shirtless man standing in front of her, staring at a tree. "Who are you?" Her voice echoed through the loneliness of the forest.

The man slowly turned around. To her surprise, he was a fairly handsome young man. Judging by his looks, he would be no more than twenty two. He was a bit skinny but with well built muscles, one that made him look like a supermodel.

His hair was black as coal, while he had well shaved facial beards. He had turned around with a big bright smile on his face, but as soon as he saw Adira, it died. "You're not Shira." His voice, thick and cold, sent shivers down her spine.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me right, you're not Shira. She's the one I am supposed to see, she is the one I have chosen to be my Luna."

Adira was dumbfounded, she remained quiet, just standing there in her white nightgown as she stared at him. "Answer me, my Luna. What have you done with her?" He protested.

"What are you talking about? What is a Luna? And who the fuck is Shira?"

He grunted, abruptly walked over, and held Adira by her shoulders as he glared deep into her blue eyes. "Tell me, who are you, and why are you here instead of Shira?!!"

She should be scared, but she felt nothing but attraction towards him, as she found her eyes locked on his godly chest.

Slowly, her eyes moved to his face, but she was once again charmed by his big brown eyes while his pink lips kept calling for her to kiss them.

"Stop!" She yelled, blocking out those thoughts as she took a few steps back. "I don't know who Shira is, and frankly I don't even know who you are. So stay the fuck away from me...!"

He sighed, his eyes slowly moved to the ground as he realized how rough he had. "I'm sorry..." He muttered underneath his breath.

"You are what? I didn't hear you?"

He sighed again, then he lifted his head to her gaze. Suddenly her beauty came penetrating into his mind like his own beauty, did hers.

A cool wind came blowing into her long blond hair, that left it flying like a long ribbon in a cool summer breeze.

His keen werewolf senses instantly caught the smell that came from it, it smelled like the very same kind of rose flowers his mother used to decorate her room.

"So??" She pushed on, waiting for the apology.

"I'm sorry..." He apologized so gently it felt like it was calling out to her. What was this attraction? She couldn't tell. Just like she couldn't stop herself from walking closer, staring up into his big brown eyes.

Simultaneously they both leaned in for a passionate kiss, a kiss that felt like heaven on earth as their lips touched each other. He lifted her into his tall body, and continued kissing her.

*******

"Ugh!!!" Adira gasped and sat up on her soft bed. She took a quick glance around, the walls were painted in a bright pink color. She was still in her bedroom and there was no boy. She turned to her window, beyond it over the horizon, the sun was just rising.

"That was a really weird dream..." She muttered, but she didn't have time to sit around. It was time for her plans to be put in action, she quickly rushed out of the bed over to her closet. "Where were you last night?" Dominic barged into her room with his hands folded on his chest.

She was already holding a small box she had taken from the top shelf of her closet, slowly she put it back and locked the closet doors without Dominic seeing it. "We searched the whole goddamn Mansion looking for you!" He added.

She frowned, Dominic was the last person she wanted to see this morning. "I was reading at the library, and I got carried away..." She made it for the door, trying to avoid a fight.

Dominic hastily blocked her by stepping in front of her. "Here's the thing, I had people sent to the library, and they said you weren't there last night! So where were you?"

"I do not have time for this..." She walked around him, annoyed, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her back. "Don't you dare walk away from me!" His brown eyes instantly turned glowing red, with sharp fangs plunging out of his mouth.

"I told you, at the library....!" Her heart, racing.

"Aidra, you know I can hear your heartbeat." He started taking slow steps closer and she in turn was walking backwards. "I know you are lying, I heard you come into your room about a few hours ago. That means the majority of your night wasn't spent in this room. I have always known you were up to no good, now I can almost be certain of it."

Her back was soon pressed against the wall. "You are delusional, you have always hated my existence, since I was a child. You will say anything to try to get me off the conclave." She fired back.

Dominic gritted his teeth together, lifted his hand and moved it with high velocity directly to her face. "That's enough Dominic!.." Like an angel, King Alaric appeared behind him and held back his hand.

Dominic grunted, pulled his hand away from him and took a few steps. "Are you okay?" King Alaric proceeded to ask Adira, with a smile on his face. "I'm fine..." She frowned, and folded her arms on her chest.

"You know, you are forbidden to leave the compounds without permission from either me or Dominic, the world we live in is a really dangerous place, the humans and werewolves are constantly after us. You know you haven't awakened your vampiric powers to defend yourself."

"But I was at the li-"

"Adira, we both know that is a lie. I sent for you last night, to discuss matters of your awakening, but you were nowhere to be found."

"Fine, I may have sneaked out of the compound, but it was only to the forest, to see the fireflies. They only come out this time of the year. No human saw me." She lied, but she was calm, and her heart was beating perfectly.

Calm enough to fool even a vampire's keen senses. This was not her first time doing this, living as the first dhampir seen in hundreds of years, among regular vampires, she had to master this act.

"You little lying shit!" Dominic cut in, gesturing at her. "I know you are up to something!"

"Dominic, that's enough!" King Alaric scolded, glaring at him. "Go wait for me downstairs."

Dominic saw the anger in his eyes, even though he wished he could defy his order, he couldn't. Alaric was the King of all the vampires in that conclave.

"Fine..." Dominic sneered and walked out the door. King Alaric then turned back to Adira. "Adira, still you know you are forbidden to leave the mansion!"

"I know, I know and I am sorry, I just wanted to see the fireflies. This was the last time they'd be coming out before they migrate again."

"It's okay, after tonight you won't have to worry about this anymore."

"What do you mean?"

"Adira, you have never drank human blood once, thus why you haven't awakened your vampiric powers. But you are twenty now, tonight will be your awakening night! Then you will have a seat on the conclave next to me, just like Dominic does."

Adira forced a smile up her face, she knew he expected her to be happy, but she was far from that. She was not ready to unleash her blood sucking side, and the truth was she never would.

"That sounds terrific, well I have to prepare now. You know, I'll be drinking human blood for the first time and getting reborn and all."

King Alaric smiled, turned around and walked over to the door. Then he paused and turned back, "How did you even leave the mansion, without alerting any of the guards?"

"Umm.... Oh I sneaked out, behind the guards."

"And no one saw you...? Impressive!" He walked out, locking the door behind him. He proceeded to walk over to the end of the hallway to Dominic.

"You know she's lying right..." Dominic sneered. "I think she's hiding something way bigger than she's willing to let in, I wonder why you are not punishing her for leaving the compound?"

King Alaric sighed, aggressively grabbed his shirt and pushed him against the wall, glaring into his eyes. "What are you doing, we are not trying to create the idea that she's a prisoner."

"But she is-"

"You imbecile! She's the most powerful one of us all and she must never know that, or about the truth of her origins. If you keep treating her like this, we will be her enemy when she finally awakens her true power!"

"I'm sorry, I just wanted to-"

"You just wanted to know what? how pathetic of you! Twenty years, I have created the idea that I cared for her so she will end up on our side. And you with everyone in the conclave keeps f**king that up!"

"You said most powerful, how? She's just a dhampir, a half blood vampire, who hasn't even awakened her vampiric powers yet, at the moment she's just like any normal human being!"

"Just stop!!" He yelled. "You know nothing, but if you make her our enemy, I will have your head!"

"I'm sorry..." He whimpers in fear.

King Alaric then let go of his shirt and stood erect. "Keep your distance from her." He walked away.

Chapter 2 ESCAPING THE CONCLAVE

Dominic's encounter with King Alaric, left him shattered. Now he felt the need to desperately prove to King Alaric that he was right, Adira was up to something. But he couldn't do that, not now that King Alaric had warned him to keep his distance from her.

However, he still had one last plan, to expose whatever Adira was up to. He furiously walked over to Aurora's room, the leader of the day walkers in the conclave, who also happened to be deeply in love with Dominic.

Day walkers were vampires who could walk in the sun like any human, with the help of the daylight ring. As the leader of the day walkers, Aurora's rank was among one of the highest ranks in the conclave, right next to Dominic's.

Aurora had just gotten dressed in her room, while the night walkers were preparing to go to sleep, her day as a daywalker was just beginning. Suddenly Dominic barged into her room, he was furious, breathing heavily like he was about to explode. "I need you to search the library!" He demanded.

"What is wrong?" Aurora took a few steps closer, about to touch him. "Stay back!!" He yelled. Shocked, she stood back, just staring at him. This wasn't a surprising behavior for Dominic, he had always treated her like this.

"Dominic, I am tired of you treating me like sh*t, I am not some toy that you can just use anything you like. I can not do this right now, if you will not respect me, I think you should leave." She gestured to the door.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He lowered the tone of his voice. "Please, you are the only one I can trust with this."

"Fine.." She folded her hands on her chest. "What is it?"

"I need you to search the library, discreetly. It's where Adira hangs most times, if she's up to something, it will be there and I need your help to prove it?"

"Wait, why can't you just do that yourself?"

"I am next in command after King Alaric, I can't be doing this...." He lied, the truth was King Alaric had forbidden him from going down that path.

"Dominic, I don't know..." Uncertainty vivid in her face. Dominic walked closer with a bright smile on his face, held her waist and pulled her to his body. While staring into her brown eyes, he leaned in and kissed her deeply on the lips.

"So will you help me?" He asked, after the kiss. He had knocked off any doubt Aurora had in her head with that kiss. "Fine... I'll check the library, and see if I can find anything."

********

After King Alaric left Adira's room, she quickly tugged off her nightgown, put on a blue hoodie with black skinny jeans. She then jumped back on her bed, and yanked out a yellow ticket from underneath her pillow.

It was a ticket for a bus that would be leaving town at noon, a time where more than half the conclave would be asleep, with only a few day walkers on patrol.

The tickets were the reason she had left the mansion the previous night, to buy them, so she could escape this hell hole she had been forced to live in since birth.

She walked over to her closet, opened it, and brought out the small box from the top shelf. She opened it, inside were a few bundles of dollars.

They were all the money she had stolen from the conclave for the day she would finally escape, and that was today. She took them all, deeped them in her pocket, and kept the box back in the closet.

Hastily she headed for the door, but her eyes caught something moving in the forest, through her window. She walked back to the window, squinted her eyes, looking over the fence that marked the compound of the mansion, deep into the forest.

There, amidst the woods stood a black strange looking creature, standing on its two hind legs, staring back at her. At first, she thought it was a bear, but as she looked closer. She realized it was no bear, it looked more like a giant wolf.

This further confused her, in all the books she had studied in the mansion's library, she knew for a fact that wolves don't live in that forest, neither should they be able to stand on their two hind legs. Which left only one possibility, it was a werewolf!

That would be crazy, this was vampire territory, the mansion was their headquarters. No werewolf would be crazy enough to dare come this close! "What are you?" Instantly it fled deeper into the woods, almost as if it had heard her.

"Oh well, if you were a werewolf. It's good you ran away." She turned around, walked out of her room, heading straight for the mansion's library. Walking through the long hallways of the mansion, other members of the conclave that saw her, stared at her with disgust.

This wasn't new to her, being the only dhampir in the conclave and first in hundreds of years, they hated her, she was an outcast. This made her life in the mansion way more harder, and was what fostered the idea to get out.

Seeing the doorway to the library, she felt closer to freedom. So close that she couldn't hold her excitement, she rushed to the doorway, bumping into Aurora who was on her way out. "I am so sorry, I didn't see you.." Adira apologized.

Aurora glared at her with hatred in her eyes. "You should watch where you are going, little pariah!"

Pariah, that was what they called her. Despite a human mother and a vampire father, dhampirs are just as weak and fragile as a regular human until their awakening.

"I said I'm sorry..."

"Why are you in such a rush?"

"Me... I just want to study!" She replied nervously. Aurora glared at her, she could sense something was fishy. "Wait, why were you even in the library?" Adira added.

Aurora was carrying out the request of Dominic to search the library, but she couldn't tell Adira that. Of course she could walk away without answering Adira's questions, but that would just raise more red flags. "What do you do in a library?" She turned the question against her.

"To read books, I know. But you or anyone in the conclave never come here, so what changed?"

"I came here to look for an important book, leave it at that, Adira!"

"And did you find it? You know I could help you find it if you didn't, I practicality live here-"

"No, I don't need your help!" She yelled, cutting her short and walked away.

Adira could sense something was up, but she cared more about escaping the mansion than to find out. She proceeded into the library, walking back to the last shelf.

What they all had no idea about was that there was a secret passageway leading out of the mansion behind the last book shelf. It was meant as an escape route when the mansion was being built, despite Aurora searching the library she didn't find it.

Adira had stumbled upon it three years back, after she had gone through all the books in the library. Since then, she constantly used it to escape the mansion into town. Today, it was going to serve as her escape route to permanently leave the mansion.

She pushed a brick on the wall, and the last bookshelf moved, revealing a dark passageway behind it. Swiftly she ran through it, and soon she found herself in the forest. Now she could almost taste her freedom.

Eventually she made her way into town, then to the bus station, which was now just across the street from her. She stood there along with other people behind her, waiting for the traffic light to signify go.

Suddenly, someone pushed her from the back, and she staggered into the road, in front of a minivan that was fast approaching. "Look out!!!" A man yelled, quickly ran over, put his left arm over Adira, then stretched forth his right hand to the minivan.

The minivan was too close to stop. The driver swayed the steering, trying to avoid them, but it only turned the car to its side as it hit the Man's hand, stopping it instantly. It was like it had hit an immovable force.

In shock, Adira turned to look at his face, it was the same man she had seen in her dreams. She turned back to look at the part of the car which he held, and it was severely damaged. Like it had hit another car, or a brick wall.

He was no human, that Adira was certain of. It would be impossible for the average human to hold a speeding car with their bare hands. She quickly glanced through his fingers, there were no daylight rings too.

That meant he was no vampire, for a vampire could not walk in the sun without their daylight ring. Then what was he? She wondered, while still clustered into his arms, staring up at his big brown eyes. "What are you?" She muttered. "For me to tell you that, we would need to get out of here..."

Chapter 3 I AM A WEREWOLF

"What?" Adira was dumbfounded.

"We need to get out of here firs-"

"Are you guys okay......?" The driver of the minivan walked over, to satisfy his curiosity about the people he had almost killed.

There was now a large crowd of people staring at them, some were filming the miracle that had just happened with their phones. Other cars had stopped as well, wondering what was going on.

"Come on, we have to go now..." The man grabbed Adira's wrist, and dragged her away from the crowd over to a quiet alley far from the crowd. Half way through the alley, "Stop!" She pulled her hand away from him. "I will not go any further with you, unless you tell me who you are?"

"Fine..." He sighed. "I am Theodore, and what might I call you?"

"Adira..."

"Adira, you my friend, is a person of interest as of right now. So you need to come with me." He took a few steps closer.

"Stay back!" She exclaimed, gesturing with both hands in the air. "What do you mean a person of interest?"

"Last night, I was supposed to see my Luna."

"So wasn't it just a dream? That was real...?"

"I'm afraid, it was very much real!"

"But how's that even possible? You in my dream?"

"Long story, but the short version is, I was not supposed to see you, Adira. That's why I came into this human town, to find the girl I had seen, and to know why I saw her instead of my chosen Luna."

"What even is a Luna?"

"You will understand everything if you come with me, I cannot explain everything here in this human town."

"What are you? And don't lie, because I know for certain that no human could have stopped that car with their bare hands."

"I am a werewolf..."

"What?" She gasped.

"I am not going to hurt you.." He assured her.

That was not what she was worried about, the werewolves were the mortal enemies of the vampires, and this town was vampire territory. "What? Werewolf, you can not be in town..."

"What do you mean?"

"Nevermind!" She forced a smile up her face. She couldn't tell him this was vampire territory, not without her telling him about being associated with the vampires. Then he would instantly take her as the enemy, that was the last thing she wanted.

"So you've found me, what do you think was the reason you appeared in my dream?"

"I don't know, I'd have to take you back to the pack. There we can figure out why it happened, together."

"Back to the pack?" If she agreed, that would mean, missing her bus and getting dragged into the life of yet another supernatural.

"Yes, my pack. It's located deep in the forest, if we start going now, we'll make it there before sunset." He stretched forth his hand to her.

"I'm sorry, but I cannot go with you!" She steps back, leaving Theodore's hand hanging.

Theodore's face quickly darkened, all his excitement gone. It was as if he had faced a heart break, even though she was a total stranger to him.

"I see, I guess I can't force you..." The sadness in his voice could be heard. "I really do thank you for saving me, but Goodbye Theodore!" She turned around, and ran out from the alley, back into the street.

Swiftly she walked back to the bus station, it seemed the bus was just arriving. The passengers were still walking in, she joined them and was about to walk into the bus, when someone grabbed her and pulled her back down.

"Who's that...?" She aggressively turned back to see who it was, only to find Aurora with a devilish smile. "Aurora, what are you doing here?" Her voice shavering.

"No..." Aurora took a step closer, glaring down at her. "The question should be, what are YOU doing here?" Her eyes moved to the bus ticket on Adira's hand, and she dragged it from her. "Bus tickets, so you were planning on leaving town?"

Adira knew the consequences of trying to leave the conclave was death, and Aurora would not doubt for one second to hand her in. "Are you going or not?" The bus driver cut in, pulling both their attention. They were the only two people left standing at the bus station.

"I..." Adira wanted to say something, but was cut short by Aurora with a big smile on her face. "Oh no, don't mind my little sister, I just came to stop her from making the biggest mistake of her life, by running away from her family."

"Okay then... Take care.." The bus driver closed the doors, slowly the bus drove away, along with all of Adira's hope at a happy life. "What an interesting thing it would be if I brought you home, caught trying to run away from the conclave."

"How did you find me?" Adira frowned.

"I followed you...."

Adira gasped in fear.

"That's right, through your little secret passage from the library, past the forest and even right to your little conversation with your werewolf boyfriend. That's treason by the way, but I'm sure you already know that."

"He is not my boyfriend! I don't even know him.."

"Yes, I'd like to hear you explain that to King Alaric. How you were talking with our mortal enemy, about how you saw him in your dream and also planned to run away, despite everything he's done for you!"

"Everything he's done for me? I was literally kept like a prisoner in the mansion, so forgive me if I wanted to escape to live my life!"

"You are such an ungrateful b*tch! So many people would kill for your position! Well I have already called and told Dominic, he will join us soon and your fate would be pretty much sealed."

"Not if I can help it!" She abruptly kicked Aurora on the stomach, knocking Aurora to the floor. She made a run for it towards the forest, before Aurora could stand up.

"Stupid!" Aurora grunts, stood up from the floor and dusted her clothes. "Run all you like, but you know you can't escape me." She started aggressively walking after Adira into the forest.

Adira was spanting hard as she ran through the forest. It would be considered a bad idea, running into the forest away from the humans which would have prevented Aurora from using her vampiric powers.

But she was hoping to run into Theodore, and once again he would save her from Aurora. Tired, after endlessly running for an hour, she stopped and hid behind a big tree, to catch her breath.

"Adira....?" The scary voice of Aurora came echoing from deep in the woods behind her, she was instantly gripped by fear. It was as if she had not been running from Aurora for the past hour.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are. You know you can't outrun me, a daywalker vampire. I am ten times faster than you! I have covered the distance you have been running in a few minutes, it's useless to try to escape me."

"We'll see about that!" She muttered underneath her breath and continued running forward, till she ended up at a big cliff, almost falling from it. At the bottom of the cliff, there was a raveging river filled with rocks.

She turned back to run into the forest, but in front of her stood Aurora, slowly walking out of the forest. Her eyes glowing red, with sharp fangs plunging out of her mouth. "I told you, you can't escape me!"

"Fine, you caught me, take me back to the conclave for my punishment. That's the worst you can do, like the lackey that you are!"

"Take you back...." She chuckled. "If I take you back, you may be forgiven by King Alaric who seems to have a soft spot for you."

"So what are you going to do, kill me? Come-on, we both know King Alaric would have your head for that."

"Who said anything about killing you, I will torture you. Make you wish for death, but you will never get it. For all the pain you've caused the conclave, the favoritism you enjoyed while we suffered."

Adira, who had been scared bursted into laughter.

"What's so funny?!"

"You sick b*tch!" Adira exclaimed, staring directly back at her scary red eyes. "So that's what this is all about, you're jealous because King Alaric knows my value and cares about me. Or is it the fact that Dominic will never see you as special as I am?"

Aurora gritted her teeth, her anger skyrocketed. It could be seen in her red glowing eyes. "Shut up Adira... You don't know what you are saying."

"Oh yes I do, I know you've always loved Dominic. You know what the sad part is, he will never love you. Dominic will always see you as the lackey that you are!"

"I said shut up!" Aurora angrily kicked her off the cliff, down into the raging river. "Oh no, what have I done?" She bent down on the cliff staring down into the river with her eyes wild open.
